Before Haven: Boring, sheltered, micromanaged, suffocating -- these are all ways Ione would describe her upbringing. Born to a Greek immigrant family whose last name was originally Tanakousakis, Ione was a surprise birth, her parents having given up on being able to have children. She was a bright but sickly child, and so was largely homeschooled by her very traditional, very overprotective parents until starting college at the age of sixteen. Increasingly pushing back against her family's preset life for her, Ione decided to study the intersections of anthropology, psychology, philosophy, and myth, and eventually was eyed by a recruiter to transfer to Blackfield. While the true reasons for that are still not entirely known, from the information, misleading as it was, that Ione received, she jumped at the chance to finally be completely independent of her parents, to live a life of her own. So, just a bit after her eighteenth birthday, she packed up and got on a bus to Haven.
Since Arrival in Haven: Mugged at gunpoint before she could even make it to Blackfield; abducted and nearly eaten by a Fae creature; assaulted by constant visions, compulsions, and headaches; living in a dead girl's dormroom -- Ione's first weeks in Haven were a blur of one trauma after the next. Fortunately for her, however, she's what Professor Byrne calls 'psychologically flexible', and with the assistance of a few from Blackfield and elsewhere in Haven, Ione seems to be making the adjustment to her newfound understanding of the world, and what might be her place in it, well enough, all things considered. The pace of her life increased dramatically when she fell in with her dorm neighbor turned mentor, and eventually husband, Gage Gagnon. Now the Vice President of the Hand, Ione's life couldn't be more different from what she'd anticipated when she transferred from USF to attend Blackfield, but despite the near-constant danger she's been in, the young woman seems pretty damn happy about how things have played out.
Supernatural/Weirdness: The Moon lives within her blood, or at least that's how Ione has come to describe her ancestry.
The Stars in Her Eyes: Ione seems to be connected to the night, and frequently displays starry lights within her irises when strong emotions take her.
Stronger Than She Looks: Small as she is and frail as she appears, few things seem to stand in Ione's way for long, physically or otherwise.
An Ear for Language: Even if she doesn't speak their native tongue, Ione seems to be able to pick up on the linguistic intent of many people. She's even rumored to be a pretty good lip reader.
Weather Magic: The sky is hers, and with it the manifestations of weather bend to her will.
Always Watching: In larger groups, Ione often gets very quiet, but those big eyes take in everything. Did she see something she shouldn't have? Something you want to know?
Give 'Em What They Want: Is she really as nice as she seems, or does she just know how to read people's expectations and desires? What happens to those who figure that out?
Girl, Interrupted: Being as closed off from normal life as she was for so long, Ione hadn't experienced a lot of things before coming to Haven. What will she do now with so much freedom? What will you do if you witness it?
In the Shadow: What will she have to do to be seen as her own person? Are you willing to see her for who and what she is?
