With the assistance of Green City Growers in Somerville, MA, and her farming family, owner Kylie Jackson? has transformed the former restaurant and underground club, Liquid, into a sustainable rooftop farm/garden with acreage behind the building that takes advantage of Massachusett's natural resources. The farm/garden provides a rather bountiful supply of greenhouse fruits and vegetables that are grown without the aide of harsh pesticides and other chemicals. The orchards are colorful, their paths lined with apple and cherry trees, a pumpkin patch, a pine tree lot, bee keeping station and small cranberry bog. With a goat enclosure and a small chicken coop, fresh dairy products are always on hand, as well as meats. To note, any slaughter that is necessary is not done on-site. A small country cafe offers a wide variety of down-home country meals just like Grandmama used to make, as well as healthier options. Farming classes and tours are provided daily to children and their families. |
