Nobody else came close on most of them. Resources: 57610. Alchemical resources: 3390. Operations attended: 12, against 6 for The Order and 4 for The Wildwood Collective. The Hand also created 1 operation, ran 2 big game hunts, finished 11 arcane tasks and 2 diplomatic tasks, thwarted 1 scheme and logged 1 society conflict. The Hand has a population of 10. Draw your own conclusions.

The Wildwood Collective took the other two. They ran 3 out of town missions, one more than The Hand managed, and built 2 roads. Their resources came to 12370, second on the sheet. They also logged 1 diplomatic task, as did The Order. The Order, population 5, brought in 11250 in resources and attended 6 operations. That is the whole of its entry.

The Temple, population 1, tracked nothing this week. The sheet has a line for it and the line is empty.

That is the board. Not many seem to know what, and the ones who do are not saying much. Here is what people are saying. A man called Mister Grey drove the two of them out past the Highway in a white SUV, and nobody could describe his face afterward. He left them at a shimmer in the air. Past it, a wagon, a driver who smelled of drink, and a dog too big to be a dog. People say Sevaht was already hurt going in, his arm bad, and that he sang and danced and cracked jokes to keep Liesel upright. People say Liesel went down on the road and told everyone she had just skipped breakfast. Sevaht went down after her, coughing. Then there are the bugs. Talk is of a black swarm, of Liesel going under it, and of Sevaht throwing her toward a patch of pale glowing stalks and following with his shield. She got her hand on one. A light came, and everyone agrees it hurt him worse than it hurt her. She tore the mushroom free and the dark came back. They ran. Behind them the driver was in pieces and the big animal was standing over him. It howled. What the howl meant is a matter of taste. Liesel is said to be badly wounded and holding on to the mushroom. The lines under her skin have gone dull. People say that is temporary. Nobody agrees on how it ended, or on what she plans to do with the thing.

Three Volunteers Walked Out of the Harlow House

The Harlow farmhouse was supposed to be a closed file. Searched, declared derelict, crossed off. Then the screams started coming from it after dark, and recovery crews were too stretched to go back, so the job went to volunteers. Serena, Kai and Sevaht got the call. Sevaht wore a skeleton costume to it, which tells you what kind of night he thought he was having.

What people are saying is that the three of them went in with whistles and headlamps and came out with a story nobody wants. Down in the cellar there were bodies in dark robes and a clipboard with a girl's name on it. The name was Emily. The notes mention an unmooring. They stop mid-line.

Talk is that Emily is alive. Talk is also that she is not all the way anything. The version going round says Sevaht tried to reach her with a Swedish lullaby and a word about cake, and for a second it seemed to land. Then Kai's silver dagger came into the room and whatever listened in her went quiet. It turned ugly after that.

Serena got the cellar door open. Kai covered the stairs. Sevaht came up last with his shield cracked. The door got locked on her, and Sevaht left a photograph on it so the next people through would know a child was behind it.

Serena texted a deputy. The deputy asked if it was a prank and whether she had tried the whistle. Nobody agrees on how it ended.

Karma Walks Haven Through Elias Rook

Karma ran a ghost tour through Arkwright Cemetery on Thursday night and called it the first, the last and the only. Fog machines hid in the paths. Sage sticks and lanterns went round. Two things were on the table: a man named Elias Rook, who burned his wife and four children alive, and the town that hanged him that same night with no trial. Actors played out the fire among the graves. Then somebody screamed, and Evelyn, Kai and Katalin all took it personally. Evelyn held on to Concepcion for most of the walk and did not throw up, which counts as a win. Concepcion tried to take her own arm out with a lantern and invited an invisible Pilar to link arms with her. Karma split the crowd into three groups and made them argue guilt. Christopher said the doctor played Elias for a pillar of the town. Spring said he was no monster unless too much lamp oil is a crime. Concepcion went with plague and the Inquisition. Lacey went with vampires. Kai went with vibes. Karma's verdict: a plague, a secret committee burning households, and a man who chose fire over letting them be taken. Monster or victim, she said, both. Spring left early looking green. Daphne walked off with her bandaged hand and her opinions. Karma says members get more intimate events soon.

Printed on a borrowed machine.
