A living room that looks like it belongs to part of a Frigate. Someone has spared no expense in making sure the living room has been paneled with authentic, shipwrecked wood, appropriately treated and salvaged. Similar wood makes up the flooring with a large area rug providing some comfort.

Marine-inspired wall decor and paintings are aplenty.

There is a shallow 70s style dip in the center of the room where the plush half-circle couch lives along with a coffee table and a modest television.

It is about 50F(10C) degrees. One after the other in rapid succession. Someone is upset with the Order’s Master Shield. It’d seem the house they went to investigate earlier was not the one in question (which begs another question: what WAS happening in that basement?) and would he please go to the correct address and check it out??

Notably, they gave the wrong address the first time. It’s up to how Obadiah is feeling whether he points this out to his contact or not.

Someone is always upset with Obadiah. It’s the price for greatness one supposes. Given the correct address he shoots off a text to his handy neighbor Sword, which in annoying Guy fashion recites as he types. “Sera… meet me at…” he drops the pin in his phone “We have a case! Scooby-Doo GIF.”

It so happens that Seraphina is currently at the Library, but rather than sitting at a table and doing her own research, she sits contemplatively at the pit, looking down. Surely it is not to consider jumping! But her feet do dangle over its murky edge, and her hands are on the ledge. Her phone is at her side, still lit from a previous message. Something about dead mushrooms and surely something to ask the sender about later. For now, though, a new message pops up and she’s reaching for the phone. She responds, Am I Daphne, or am I Velma? Can I be sexy Velma?” The woman pushes back from the possibly neverending hole and stands, finding her coat to slip it back on and head out of the Library.

Considering the first thing Teagan says is “And me without my costume” Seraphina is most definitely Velma. The hair suits better, too! But there’s more important things on Teagan’s mind like: “You can’t just SAY Scooby-Doo GIF-” and God Help Him if he pronounces it wrong. There will be consequences. “Which one?” Because she’s being a responsible driver and not looking at his phone to see. Really, if he wasn’t narrating everything…

With the correct address (different end of Atlantic, that) plugged into the GPS, she changes course from the library to the correct brownstone. “You know,” she murmurs as they get near, stifling a yawn, “I think I left my coffee at that other place.” She did.

Nothing seems amiss from the exterior. Not for Seraphina on her approach or to Obadiah if he looks as Teagan finds a place to park. Just a brownstone on a snow-laden street, its windows dark. But it’s the holidays, so that’s not immediately of any concern. Probably.

“I can whatever I want, woman,” Obadiah teases Teagan with a grin then says to the approaching Seraphina, “Definitely Velma. Tea is Daphne. I guess that makes Thomas Fred?” He nods firmly, “We can make Mercy Scooby.”

Having no car, it does take Seraphina some time to walk from the Library over to Atlantic, but luckily for her, the Fae weren’t able to strip everything away from her, and she moves at a fairly quick clip. Gloved hands are shoved into her coat as she moves, dark brows furrowed in some worrisome crease that ages the woman ever so slightly. Despite her swiftness, Obadiah’s car is definitely a fancier sport’s car than her heels. As she gets closer, she hears the man don her Velma. She fixes her glasses on her face. “Long as this episode does not end with me breaking my glasses.” She tells him, and Teagan both, “Also, I don’t know that Thomas is Fred. He’s more old Mister whatevertheyname him.” This earns a nod from her, firm. “He’s more the type to tell us that he would have gotten away with it…”

Oh, no. No sports car today. This man’s been making Teagan drive. So it’s a 2020 VW Golf. Not a bad car by any stretch but not a sports car. Mostly because that staff of hers won’t fit in the sports car. Now the Mystery Machine on the other hand…

“Careful, you’re the one who won’t take the crown from me,” Teagan points out to Obadiah. Speaking of glasses, she adjusts the ones she… does not actually need, holding them in her mouth by one arm briefly as she gathers her hair back in an elastic. The beads in it are made more prominent by the action, but it gets her hair out of the way. “She’s not wrong,” the redhead muses of the assessment on Thomas. Glasses resettled, she nods toward the brownstone. “We sure this is the right one this time, Obie?”

It is. And it sits quiet, but not too quiet. There’s even a cheery little wreath on the door: a little snowman with mittened hand raised in greeting sat on an all-white ring meant to evoke snow. The doormat is an absolutely eldritch tongue entirely fore-

No, it’s just the script on the Mines of Moria. ‘Speak Friend and Enter’ – just in the Elvish. Definitely the domicile of a nerdy professor.

Obadiah shrugs and then looks over the pair then down at his phone then up to the pair and then responds, “I swear if Thomas is wearing a ski mask in there summoning demons I am going to go pout in the bottom of the bay.”

He does tap his hand in the door as one hand reaches into his coat pocket to grasp his knife handle, preparing for either discount Thomas or luxury Matias. Who knows whit all these different variations of wayward professors

Lets be honest, Seraphina probably doesn’t need the glasses that she wears either, but it gives her that Librarian look. She slides her hand lightly across her cheek, pulling strands of hair that have been blown, naturally, of course, into her glossed lips. Because it never fails when wearing gloss. She looks at the house, then to Obadiah, coming to a stop by him and Teagan. “I’ve learned, Teagan, not to judge a book by its cover.” Then, after a pause, and as she follows the octoman to the cutely made up Christmas door, she asks, “What are we doing here, anyway?”

Obadiah is unapologetically happy being flanked by two hot librarian babes and will never deny himself the opportunity

“Oh, I don’t mean the decor-” Though Teagan does give a mildly bemused *snrk* at the doormat. “We went to a place earlier and… I mean how were we to know it wasn’t the right place? Certainly seemed that way.” How many demonologists does New Haven have anyway?!

Too damn many.

Obadiah rap rap raps at the door and… silence answers. Well, mostly. Carried on the wind from one of those half-windows that keep basements from being complete pits of darkness can be heard chanting in some ancient tongue. And one not as innocent as Tolkien’s Elvish.

Date: 2025-12-31 16:05 (Obadiah’s Wednesday afternoon odd encounter(Teagan):Teagan) [Wed Dec 31 2025] In a marine-59themed living space/span/b/span>

[134

post-28859","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-encounterlog
["GET
