Jodies Odd Encounter Sr Savannah 240128

As dusk enveloped the Forest Ridge Road near Wilds Gate, Jodie found herself enveloped in an ominous and growing darkness. Sinister shadow orbs materialized in the dense woodlands, unleashing monstrous beings from a nightmare realm into her world. A towering insectoid creature with ruthless mandibles and a pair of smaller, four-legged nightmare hounds emerged from the abyss, the former eyeing Jodie with a predatory hunger. Overwhelmed by the sudden appearance of her inhuman pursuers, Jodie decided against confrontation. Relying on her exceptional night vision, she sprinted northward on the road, the cacophony of the creatures’ pursuit and the snapping of branches filling the air behind her.

The larger entity launched itself through the forest with prodigious leaps, hunting from a distance while the smaller hounds dogged Jodie's heels. With no respite in sight, Jodie resorted to her last line of defense: shifting into her wolf form in a painful and swift transformation. Without hesitation, she retaliated against the hounds with deadly force, using her powerful jaws to dispatch the creatures in a violent flurry. Her strategy shifted back to escape as the larger creature drew near. With each crash of its heavy presence marking its relentless hunt, she pressed into the safety of the woods. Eventually, the nightmarish darkness receded, suggesting the creature’s weakening foothold in her world. Jodie, the wolf, persisted tirelessly until the thunderous echoes faded, leaving her alone and the threat vanquished for the time being.

On Forest Ridge Road
A rugged dirt road carves its way through the dense woodlands. It is barely wide enough for two vehicles and is bordered by trees that form a dense canopy. Roots and rocks occasionally jut through its surface, and whenever the wind blows through the thick woods, you are surrounded by the rich scent of earth and vegetation. During the day, rays of sunlight break through the foliage, casting a kaleidoscope of light and shadow. At night, the road is bathed in utter darkness, with the sounds of the forest creating a haunting atmosphere.

It is dusk, about 34F(1C) degrees,

Jodie is out on forest ridge road somewhere near the wilds gate, she was on the way to the wilds likely to go hunting but anything could happen.

(Your target is attacked by monsters from the nightmare who've found a way through into our world. They need to survive for long enough for their allies to come help them.
)
Anything could happen, and it does. There is a shadow forming in the distance from Jodie now and it seems like the forest starts to darken around her. That gate itself might even send swirls towards the darkness growing, like an orb of swirling mist that begins to form into something solid. Then another. Another. These orbs begin to slip from some shadowed world into Jodie's own world, and soon, the loud sound of a thunderclap is heard as darkness and lightning swirls around the several orbs now forming and once, where there were trees, foliage and Earth, there is nothing as if they have carved out a small bubble of reality to allow for several creatures to appear and step through them. The creatures do not look like standard things she might encounter in the forest near that gate, and one of them rises up to full height, a monsterous looking thing with vicious mandibles and several insectoid looking arms. It spots her and it looks at her, with hunger.

Jodie peers towards the shadow and tilts her head with confusion at the beginning, then there is obvious concern as the thing escalates into turning her world to total darkness. Her initial reaction is not to attack or defend herself. It's to absolutely book it as fast as her legs can take her, there is no obvious place to go but she makes the assumption that she's still on earth and she runs where she knows the road was, northward. "Fuck fuck fuck."

This creature watches Jodie run and it begins to leap after her. The things legs flex downwards and with a springed pounce, it launches itself into the air, skyrocketing through the trees and landing somewhere in the distance with a crashing sound of tree limbs and underbrush. The other two monsters do not look as menacing, though as Jodie runs she might not get a good look at them. They are smaller and seem to run on all fours, like hounds, but insectoid. They have menacing mandibles as well, rushing after her now and seeming to follow her run towards the northern road. These creatures don't seem of this world, do not seem like your standard ones you might carve up in the forest, no, these are something else entirely. As they leave those shadowed orbs behind, the orbs flex, a glimpse of that gloomy path often taken through a dark forest, a hand reaching out, swiping into reality, before they wink out of existence with another thunderclap of sound, sending trees bending and bowing over around it in a shockwave.

Jodie is outnumbered and in the dark, but the dark is not a problem with her perfect night vision. She looks over her shoulders as she looks at her persuing enemies, narrowly dodging attacks as she tries to make an escape rather than some brave stand. However if she can't seem to pull distance, she may have to change tactics soon.

Right now the issue is that bigger creature is somewhere in the forest, having lept through the air and landed. There has been no other indication, but Jodie is being chased by those four-legged insectoid looking things. They almost look like wolves, but with mandibles and chitin instead of fur. She might recognize this tactic being employed, or at least, consider it. That perfect night vision helps for sure, but it seems like she is being chased by two herding creatures, and she might wonder whether that bigger one is in the distance, waiting, like a wolfpack to pounce.

In mid run Jodie(wolf)'s cries in pain as she twist and her bones break and reset quickly to turn her two legged run and 4 legged run. But that run is only for about 20 paces before she turns towards the furtherest of the two herding creatures and blinks through the path if possible to arrive at it's location and pounce on it attempting to rip it's throat out with her mighty jaws.

One of the two creatures has Jodie(wolf) now shifted into that four legged run and showing up in a blink to rip towards its throat with mighty jaws. That chitin is crunched, breaking, crumbling and soon she would taste the ichor of something thick, viscous and green. It wasn't like the meat that she might be used to chomping into when it comes to Earthly creatures. It tasted foul, unnatural, but the thing was torn ragged and splattered upon her crushing and rending jaws, falling still afterwards while the second creature tried to stop the pace it was keeping and turns towards her. It calls out in something similar to screeching clicks that an insect on Earth might make, and those mandibles flex open and closed, menacing, dangerous. It stalks in a circle before leaping towards her and in the distance, the sound of crashing limbs can be heard again soon afterwards, landing far away, then closer, then closer still, something is coming.

Jodie(wolf) instinctual relies on extreme violence as a wolf and waste not even as second going for the second insect to try and crush it with her mass and rip a limb off if she can manage it. All in an effort to eliminate the second foe before the largest one becomes a problem.

Jodie(wolf) instinctually*

That aggression helps as the creaute launches itself at Jodie(wolf) it perhaps didn't expect such a powerful thing to have shown up when it was simply stalking a woman before. Those teeth find purchase on one of its limps and it cracks away from the body like someone eating crab-legs at a restaurant. That juicy spray in a fine mist of greenish blood before it was followed by that thick, globbing flow afterwards. The thing was going to die, but it was not completely dead yet. It latched onto Jodie(wolf) with mandibles, trying to squeeze and grasp, leaving a gash down along her side, but soon it was losing strength as whatever kept it alive was leaking from that ripped off limb and it fell to the ground, just in time for that bigger creature to leap through the air and land in the distance, rising up on two legs, it was a monsterous beast of a thing. It stepped towards Jodie(wolf) full of intent.

Now that the two small ones are dead Jodie(wolf) returns to her early strategy of GTFO, but in all the combat she's gotten rather lost on her directional headings so her only option is to just run the opposite way of the largest creature.

That might be a good idea, considering the size of this creature. The shadow and darkness is beginning to fade that seemed to surround the area it was within and soon, light is peeking through the forest tops when Jodie(wolf) attempts to get the heck out of there. She might pick the wrong way back to the road, but the creature pursues regardless of which direction she takes. It seems to walk slower than it leaps, so she is able to outrun it and judging by the darkness turning to light, she can tell just about how far away it might be while a leap takes it closer again, surrounding her in that shadow once more, it is in full pursuit, for now.

Jodie(wolf) just runs for her life, pursuing the light whenever she can get a glimpse of it. The thick forest does little to slow down the wolf who was born and raised in Haven and is familiar with running these forest.

The light does allow for Jodie(wolf) to find places to go, and soon, that light becomes more frequent. The creature in the distance, not known to Jodie(wolf), is fading. The shadow that it came with is losing its power and soon, after running for quite some time the wolf would find herself alone once more, surrounded only by the weird creatures that inhabit these woods, as a loud thunderclap sounds out behind her, leaving her free of her pursuer.

Jodie(wolf) runs far until she's nearly collapsing from exhaustion even though she was probably safe long before.
