Haven Unrest by Olly Omani
There was a car on fire on my way into town last night. I pulled over to see what was going on and was largely ignored, but one of the other lookie-loos said that a few college students went for a joy ride, then decided to destroy the car.
That's what this week has been like, fellow Havenites. People screaming at each other, slapping each other. The Clinic's seen a sharp increase in injuries as disgrunted spouses have shot their partners, beat them or otherwise hurt them. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, but the violence in Haven has taken a turn in the last few days. Not just violence, though, crime in general. Drug overdoses in the Clinic has increased, although most of those were first timers who didn't know how to handle their high. Thefts and robberies have gone up, houses have been TPed and in general it seems like the population of Haven is upset.
When I think about what's going on, all I can think of is that we're tired of being oppressed. Tired of having our pursuit of happiness and lives put at risk. There've been more shootings since Parkland and it isn't going away. That doesn't mean we need to all start acting like children. It's time to grow up, Haven. Most of you reading this are adults, let's start acting like it.
Mahalo, Havenites.
