Overview

Half vampire court and half criminal gang, the Red Gold Society values two things above all others: Blood and Money. Relatively unimportant for a vampire society, they have never been officially recognized by any of the more established courts, likely due to the lack of old or powerful vampire members in a culture that decidedly prizes the ancient undead.

As a criminal organization, however, the Red Gold Society is much more adept. Their preternatural skills, while relatively minor in the supernatural world, make them excellent thieves and con-artists when preying upon naturals. As such, cunning, wit and a keen manipulative nature are as highly prized, if not more, than simply having brawn and muscles.

The premise of the Red Gold Society embodies that of resourceful and goal-oriented vampires establishing an innovative concept of a 'Court' while outwardly seeking the power and wealth which would eventually make them front-runners upon a scene. This isn't a faction intended for those seeking instant gratification, but rather those interested in roleplaying the work which occurs in seeking allies within an extensive network and then playing their way up into more corrupt and power-hungry positions.

(OOC Note):
The ability and drive to roleplay just about anything and everything is rather paramount among the members in The Red Gold Society. To sum it up, this means that it's fairly likely there will be a fair deal of extracurricular RP from time to time. Participation isn't mandatory in any of these things, but RP life will probably be a lot more interesting if you occasionally take an active part. If you're not interested in schemes, sporadic SR plots, or con-based adventures with both PCs and NPCs alike, this faction probably isn't for you. Likewise, if you have an aversion to crime-related activities, wanton violence, antagonism, or your character has a high moral fiber - this will not be your cup of tea.

Leadership

Recruitment

Due to the nature of their organization, membership within the Red Gold Society primarily consists of vampires and their human servants. However, it's not unusual for others with associations to The Vampire Empire, those with an interest in eventually becoming a vampire, or other supernaturals with like-ideals and mindsets to be found within its ranks.

Starting members should be aware that there's a hierarchy of control in place and outlandishly anarchy-focused characters wouldn't truly fit in. That said, there's a very high approval for those who are able to show independence and if preferred, members are generally granted a great deal of freedom for how they manipulate and deal with humans and other victims.

Organization

The Red Gold Society has the typical corporation-like infrastructure that most Domineering groups possess. Progression up the ranks is largely arbitrary, though those who are good earners and/or impress people with how vampire-like they behave while still being useful tend to move up much faster.

Ranks

All members are required to make a donation of at least $100 resources per week.

- Vassals

Vassals, occasionally called donors, usually serve some purpose to the Red Gold Society, though the reasoning may widely differ. It's possible for them to pledge themselves to a particular member of the organization - but that member is then entirely responsible for their resource costs. In most cases, vassals pledge themselves to the Society as a whole and then endure the occasional abuse, being called for petty requests frequently and provide their blood to those who seek it.

- Minion

Minions are basically the bitches of the organization, though it sometimes is also used as an affectionate sort of term. They're the chauffeurs, the bait, the decoys and they're also the ones most frequently abused or occasionally fed from. Of course, they're able to rise to higher status and what they endure is sometimes thought of as good incentive to do so. Almost all new members start out as minions.

- Pledge

A Pledge is considered to be on the same horizontal plane as a Minion, but are considered slightly better due to the fact they've already made decisions that they wish to be a vampire eventually. As such, they tend to be more focused than the typical Minion and more eager to prove their worth.

- Fledgling

The term fledgling tends to be derogatory in nature, but in this circumstance it does not revolve merely around age. While most Fledglings do tend to be 'baby vampires', for the most part those vampires who have not passed their 'vampire puberty' or have mental issues, crippling injuries, or other lasting and interfering issues end up as Fledglings. New Vampire members also typically find themselves starting here until they can prove their service to be worthwhile.

- Bloodless

The Bloodless are proven supernatural Tier II members who are not vampires, but hold the same like-ideals of other members of the Society. There usually are less Bloodless than the other members, seeing as it's pretty specifically a half vampire court. But occasionally there are greedy scumbags who wish to partake anyways and these are them.

- Sanguine

On the same horizontal plane as the Bloodless, the Sanguine are your typical Tier II vampire members. Like the Bloodless, they've demonstrated their capabilities and usefulness.

- Lieutenant

A Lieutenant is a proven Vampire, who has distinguished themselves from the other ranks of the Sanguine. They're typically known for either their ruthlessness or their keen mind.

- Arcanist

Arcanist is the highest rank that a Bloodless can achieve and it's almost considered a token position. While intellectual pursuits aren't especially favored by members of the Court, they're acknowledged as having a definite usefulness and the Arcanist typically takes care of those needs. Arcanists are above most of the squabbles which can arise in the lower ranks, but might use minions or pledges in basic experimentation.

- Enforcer

An Enforcer serves as the right hand to Royalty. They typically have proven themselves more by strength or brawn, than by other methods. They're loyal, tough, scary, and brutal, and usually the kind of person that you really shouldn't fuck with. An Enforcer is at least Tier III.

- Seneschal

On the contrary, a Seneschal is the left hand to Royalty and this position could be reserved for a number of things. A Seneschal is a position given and not earned, typically because they're childer of Royalty or occasionally sharp of mind. Because of their proximity to the leader of the Society, they're respected much like the impertinent Crown Prince of a King may be. More often than not, however, they've demonstrated particular skillsets or intelligence which allow them to be acknowledged, if not also envied.

- Royalty

The current leader of The Red Gold Society.

General Policies and Stances

Human Conflict

Engaging with humans and having them respond and act to the whims of the members should be considered a core activity of the Red Gold Society. While there's no rules dictating that they are automatically labelled a sub-species, this is inadvertently often the case due to them being widely considered as tools. Although the overall treatment greatly varies from member to member, their general susceptibility to mental manipulation leaves them often picked out as targets.

Humans or Vassals within the faction need to show some level of usefulness, though this could be anything from the willing engagement in the criminal arts, to demonstrating certain skills, to simply being incredibly witty and serving as an entertaining blood-bag. All can expect to be fed upon, at one point or another, either through their knowledge or otherwise.

- Bloods

While human servants or vassals can be fed upon, only feeding upon them is just lazy and uncreative. Vampires, or those just wanting blood, are expected to be competent enough to go catch their own damn meals instead of growing metaphorically fat and indolent at the faction's expense.

Faction Conflict

The Red Gold Society tends to keep its nose out of other faction's affairs. There's plenty of blood and money out there, after all, without sparking a war that'll just get in the way of profits. That's not to say they're against fucking with other groups, given probable cause and something to gain. There's just so many other productive things one could be doing with their unlife, like biting bitches. Of course, not everyone is down with vampires running from neck to neck.

The court's natural enemies include harmonious, resistance, and patronizing factions who seek to disrupt their operations. However, conflict can also arise with Domineering or Darwinian factions who want to rule their territories.

Member-on-Member Conflict

Conflicts or disagreements within the ranks is something that's bound to eventually happen with most social organizations. Due to the organization of the Red Gold Society, intrafaction conflict tends to be found far more openly on the horizontal scale than anything on the vertical scale. That said, members are expected to not take these intra-member issues out into public beyond simple banter, in any style or fashion, and especially not when there's business or jobs to be completed.

- Manipulation

The majority of the faction tends to be somehow versed in manipulation, either through smooth talking or mental abilities. While it generally isn't common, and is punishable when used on members in public or when involving outside conflict, basic use typically isn't something intervened upon. It rarely, if ever, is found used between members simply for anything more than hazing.

The use of roofies to incapacitate other members, or really anything that knocks them out for more than five minutes or so, is forbidden.

- Physical Altercations

Vertical physical abuse, such as higher ranking leadership to lower ranking members, is an extremely common practice, and is encouraged as a facet of control. Horizontal conflict, or those within similar rank levels of a span of one to two, can also be fairly common place - with cheap punches thrown, or a bent arm, or a few cuts here or there sometimes appearing.

For the most part, as long as any wounding does not extend to the levels of severe, it is not considered worthy of notice. However, repeat offenses, especially when laid upon the same member in a way that hinders them or their ability to contribute resources is bad for business.

- Stealing

Stealing from other members/vassals or the faction is strictly forbidden. Due to the hierarchy, stealing from the lower ranks cuts the profit margin of the higher ranks, and is against the rules in any form. This includes personal items, such as clothing and phones, as well as money. This does not include sanctioned punishment.

- Verbal Disputes and Communication Lines

Drawn out verbal disputes should be kept off the communication lines. Bitching doesn't make money.

Revenge

Revenge for member abduction by other factions typically isn't pursued, if there's any real cost to the faction. It's thought of that any member who managed to get themselves abducted to begin with, should likely have the mental capabilities of eventually escaping by themselves.

If revenge is to be had, it's often best received by way of intelligent schemes or plots, or abducting other people in exchange at a later time.

Vampire Blood

As a vampire, having vampire blood is considered a perk and is a tool frequently utilized with the general populace. Members are allowed to sell it at their own discretion, but it is thought more highly of if it can be used in a more productive manner.
