80The air carries the scent of fre23shly ground espresso, mingling wi87th the sweetness of baked goods b52ehind a vintage glass case. Behin54d the counter, an ever-growing c55ollection of mugs rests upon narr55ow shelves. No two are alike: som54e hand-painted; others embossed w52ith quirky phrases; a few well-w87orn favorites donated by longtime23 patrons. Baristas instinctively 80match the perfect mug to a guest.

80 The walls, layered with eclectic art23work and pressed paper messages, ref87lect the soul of the cafe’s visitors.52 Handwritten notes curl at the edges54, tacked onto a bulletin board overf55lowing with poems, sketches, and the 55occasional heartfelt farewell. A fra54med section preserves some of the mo52st beloved contributions. It is a pat87chwork of ink and sentiment, bound b23y the hands of strangers who felt, f80or a moment, that they belonged here.

80 Golden light spills through large windo23ws, catching the gleam of exposed brick87 and the rich grain of worn wooden floo52rs. Hanging plants stretch their vines 54lazily across high shelves, and in the f54arthest corner, an old grandfather cloc52k quietly ticks. Seating is seen throug87h a southern arch. A northernmost door 23is labelled as the bathroom. An arrow i80ndicating up leads to a small book nook.

It is about 60/i>/b/span15C) degrees. The mist is heaviest At Panama and Lake/span>/span“Crystal clear.” Lykaia answers along a slight tilt of her head. “Why would it glow green? Experienced core temperature was irregulated. Handled with water. Issue is very minor. Kai.” She takes a deep breathe in, and now takes to look the other people that are here over. Starts with Matthew, then to Malin and then to the barista and back to Kai. “Viv’s asked to tell what you’ll be singing today, Kai.”

Kai nods at Lykaia thoughtfully, “Oh…” he hmms and narrows his eyes thoughtfully, he glances around, “Okay, well, I’m sure people will show up. Let’s hit the stage,” he doesn’t sound sure, but he also doesn’t look overly worried, “That’s hilarious,” he tells Lykaia, a grin on his face at the thought that he might actually sing.

Matthew briefly tracks Lykaia, giving her dress a quick sweeping glance, his expression curious in his attempt to place her. If it’s not the clothes that grabs his attention, it’s the word she exchanges with Kai, and he approaches, offering up a smile. Finding a break in the flow of discussion he interjects a, “Hey, I’m Matthew, glad you’re here for the Karaoke.”

Matthew upnods Jasper, motioning the guy over. “Hey man, we’re about to get started, come on over.”

Kai squints at Jasper, “Hey… Jasper… yeah you’re the real Jasper, I think,” he supposes and tells Jasper, “We’re heading back into the stage area,” he agrees with Matthew and wanders off that way, Lykaia in tow.

Malin is very much out of it, like she’s barely clinging onto reality, all pale and perhaps slightly withered. She’s standing upright, at least. And so, she heads onward.

Malin wanders in, very carefully, like if someone breathes too hard on her she might just fall over.

Matthew guides Jasper through to the back stage, indicating the group that’s already starting to form. “I’ll be back, just going to meet any others who are still trickling in.”

“Evening,” Jasper waves his hand as he is lead into the place. “And pretty much in time too.”

Lykaia sits down on the other chair provided by Kai and places her hands on her lap. “Viv’s asked if I would sing. The answer is no. Incapable of it. Just to warn, kai.”

Kai nods at Lykaia, “Same,” he tells her with a little laugh, “Is Viv your girlfriend?” he asks with a lift of his brows as he looks over her way, he glances at Jasper as well though and says, “You’re welcome to be the first singer!” and points to the shitty little karaoke machine.

Shiloh flashes a wide grin to the room as he produces a couple bottles “Hey hey. Hope everyone’s ready to sing, or get drunk enough to sing. Whichever works really.”

“I can’t really sing as well,” Jasper tells Kai with a low chuckle, turning to walk towards an empty chair where he sits down.

“Vivienne. She’s at Coretech, Kai.” Lykaia says, looking at him, for a moment, confused. “Also: Am not bi.”

“Hey, nice selection, good job Shiloh,” Kai tells Shiloh and nods at Jasper, “That’s cool, we can just sit, hang out and drink, he looks aside to Lykaia, “Ohhh that Viv,” he exclaims and nods again, “Sorry, I was thinking of the other Viv,” he grins at Lykaia, “Hey I’m not bi either, we have so much in common,” he waggles his brows at her and gives another wave to Matthew, “It might be just you and Shiloh starting this thing off.”

Shiloh says “Duet?

Kai gives a two-fingered salute to Kurt and a wave to Eloa, a little grin on his face, “Hey, more people,” he says in mild, pleasant surprise.

Matthew makes his way in and points a finger towards Kai, “Hey man, I forgot to tell you,” he says, making way to track right next to that other guy. “I was supposed to sing a duet but like…” he looks in Malin’s direction, seeing if she’s found a seat yet, “my duet partner over there caught the flu and now you’re my new duet partner. YOu’re gonna be Jasmine to my Aladin in a whole new world.”

Kurt strolls on in, inclining his head towards Kai, Matthew, and Lykaia in turn. As Eloa enters, he nods to her, as well. “Evening, everyone. I hope it’s treating you well?”

“Nah….” Kai waves a hand at Matthew’s declaration, “I don’t sing, I just run these fantastic events,” he says, his arms spread expansively to show… the cheap little karaoke machine on the stage, and a couple of bottles of booze.

Malin squints over at Matthew, and goes, “I can probably sing. We’ll see…”

Shiloh wave over at Eloa, “Hey El, welcome.”

Making her way in shyly, Eloa waves at everyone, giving Kurt and Kai a small smile for their greetings being she picks her way over next to Shiloh, “Ola.” She replies with a smile.

“Hey, Eloa,” Jasper greets Eloa with a wave of his hand.

Eloa waves at Jasper and smiles at him warmly.

Matthew turns towards the latest arrivals, Kurt and Eloa, beaming smiles there way as he waves. He motions off towards the bottles of liquor, “Hey, there’re some refreshments, pour a drink, limber up and get ready to Karaoke!”

Malin earns a smile, a sudden bounce of his brows. “Well if you say so, then–” and he’s telling Kai like he didn’t just decline the non-request, “Sorry man, looks like my duet partner might be a go after all.”

Lykaia makes a nod to Kurt “Good evening, mister Steiner.” Matthew gets another look when he’s mentioning to Kai on the state of the duet. She makes a little face, and tells Kai. “Should join him. Kai. Wouldn’t want to disappoint, do you?” She asks, a smile coming over her lips that’s a little dangerous, mean.

Malin doesn’t look like she’s quite capable, but she’s stubborn, and then she says, “Maybe not,” as she’s forced to take a seat.

Shiloh grins over at Kai “You can’t just -run- a karaoke event and not sing once.”

Blinking a bit at the smile Matthew has on his face, Eloa waggles her fingers shyly at Lykaia as well from across the room.

“Oh no,” Kai tells Matthew when it sounds like he’s off the hook, “Well, if she’s feeling better,” he nods and glances at Lykaia, tilts his head a little, grinning back at her and over to Shiloh, “Uhh… I already sang is the problem, you guys were late,” he lies breezily to the pair.

Moving towards the drinks, Jasper grabs a cup and pours himself some Henessy before he returns to his seats

The on-again-off-again situation between Matthew and his duet partner is real. Because no sooner has he canceled on Kai does he come back, very much a man with his cap in hand. “Kai,” the Montrose begins, an edge of request working into his voice. “Would you do me the honor, and the privilege, of being my duet partner. Will you be my Jasmine?” THen he’s looking towards Lykaia, like she might be able to assist him in this matter.

Settling down next to Shiloh, Eloa leans into him a little. “You sing Shi? She asks softly.”

Shiloh peers aside at Eloa, chuckling, “Not well, but yeah, I’m definitely singing tonight.”

“I know that’s not true, Kai.” Lykaia answers, keeping her pale greens a moment longer on Kai before drawing away from him and settling on Eloa. There’s another smile, one that’s more glad and reaches her eyes that comes with a nod to Eloa. She looks back to Kai when Matthew speaks to Kai again. “I’d quite enjoy if you went with mister Montrose as a duet, Kai.”

Kai rolls his eyes at both Matthew and Lykaia, but peer pressure wins out and he stands up, climbs onto the stage and declares, “You know, I spent the last twelve hours planning this event,” just lying blatantly as he heads to the machine and kneels down to find the right song, “And now I’m being bullied into singing,” he shakes his head, “The cheek of it. The cheek!” he fishes up both microphones and offers one out to Matthew, a broad grin on his face despite the bitching.

Matthew begins to apply more pressure, taking to his phone on some kind of social media campaign.

Matthew beams a smile at Kai, taking up the microphone. “THen let’s kick this whole thing off, yes?” Of course Matthew lifts his phone, sidling right up to his new duet partner for a selfie. “Well, we’ll give the people what we want!”

Clapping her hands together loudly for Kai, Eloa leans her head in with Shiloh and starts to whisper.

Shiloh stares at Eloa, looking a little lost before tilting his head in thought.

Lykaia lets out a laugh when Kai moves to the stage with Matthew. “You’ll own this, I’m sure! Probably!” She adds, calling over to Kai, her even tone swimming with subtle delight.

Kai leans in against Matthew to take the picture and nods to Matthew, “Yeah, let’s do it!” he agrees and grins a little as he looks out at the little crowd.

Eloa gives Shiloh a small nod

Shiloh flashes a wide mischievous grin at Eloa.

Aeryn beams a smile at Malin as she sits, with an apologetic wave to Matthew for her tardiness.

“Yeah, sing!” Jasper hollers towards Kai and Matthew, raising his cup with a grin.

“Who are you?” Aeryn wonders, glancing over Shiloh briefly.

Matthew queues up the song and in short order that disney song music is blaring out of the cheap speakers. The Montrose holds up his mic, staring at Kai like this song were for him. “I can show you the Wooorld. SHining, Shimmering, SPendid. Tell me–” he walks closer, to the other man daring to reach and stroke towards his chin, “Princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?”

Shiloh tilts his head as his attention turns to Aeryn “Who are you? Name’s Shiloh.”

Matthew is not in key, he’s half-talking, half-singing, but he’s belting it out all the same, delivering the performance to Kai like it were from the heart.

Kai juts his hip out to the side and presses his hand that isn’t holding his mic to his chest as Matthew sings to him, fluttering the fingers on his mic at his own face as if to fan himself while Matthew serenades him, he pulls the hand back to check it, waiting for his cue as he grins off at the crowd.

Amber slips into the area, quietly winding her way through the chairs and couches before plopping into an empty one to listen with a tired expression.

Grinning widely at Matthew’s singing, Eloa straights up from leaning into someone and gives Seraphina and Preston a little wave of her fingers as they join.

Shiloh flashes a wide grin up at Kai, shooting him a big thumbs up!

Lykaia looks down to her phone quick, types a message and then looks back at Kai and Matthew, a slight smile playing over her lips.

Fashionably late, Seraphina slides through the crowd to find herself some seating closer to the stage, a nice little loveseat in which she beckon’s Preston to share with her. She wiggles her fingers in return to Eloa.

The chosen song from her cousin leaves Aeryn wide-eyed, and she stares unblinking at him for several moments before a wide grin spreads across her face. “Aeryn Montrose,” she introduces to Shiloh.

Preston follows along behind Seraphina, as the two of them slip in, in the middle of a song – taking up that loveseat alongside Seraphina. They’re fashionably late. It’s the rules or something. You have to be fashionably late. The man doesn’t wiggle fingers, but he does wave towards Eloa.

Shiloh nods to Aeryn, smiling “It’s a pleasure.” He says, though his attention turns back toward the stage, sneakily grabbing a bottle to waterfall into his mouth.

“I can open your eyyyyyyyyyyyes” Matthew holds out that note, it’s rough sounding and his voice is gravely, “Taake you wonder by woooonder, over Sideways–” uh oh, he reaches for Kai like he might actually do it, “and under–” nope, just kiding now he’s dancing around behind him, “On a maaagic carpet ride.” This little choreography continues, the Montrose shooting to full height behind Kai, a free hand out to stretch across an imagined horizon. “A Whole new woooooorld. A New Fantastic Point of View.” He looks to Kai, expecting him to join in.

Malin is seated here, but she’s very pale and not very alert. She does take notice of Aeryn, though, and her somewhat blanched lips form a smile.

Smiling at Jasper, Eloa pats the seat on the outside of her compared to Shiloh as she enjoys the show.

Smiling at Jasper, Eloa pats the seat on the other side* of her compared to Shiloh as she enjoys the show.

Kai starts singing for the first time in the duet, he puts his phone hand under his chin and flounces around the stage as he belts out, off key, “No one to tell us nooooo or where to goooo!” probably not actually singing in time with Matthew, he also points his mic-hand out to the crowd like some kind of wanna be idol, which causes the couple of lines to be quieter than they should be as he wings, a grin on his face.

Lykaia lets out a laugh when Kai starts to go nooo and gooo.

Seraphina looks aside to Preston, tipping and tapping a quick message. “I don’t know … what do you like?”

With a smile of his own, Jasper moves to take a seat next to Eloa.

“I listen to EDM,” Preston mentions to Seraphina, laughing and smiling up at Kai and Matthew on the stage. “I don’t listen to.. lyrical music.”

There is absolutely no harmonizing going on here, and Matthew’s lyrics chase after Kai’s. He steps out to his duet partner’s side, singing, “Or say we’re only dreaming.” With that the music begins to shift, a new verse that the someone motions toward Kai.

Out to the crowd Matthew smiles, offering up a wave like this were his concert and each attendee his fans. Aeryn earns a wink.

“I am pretty sure that I know what I am going to do.” Seraphina says, chewing lightly on the inside of her cheek a moment. “What do you think I should sing?”

Kai has no ability to sing so he tries to make up for it with showmanship, turning with his butt to Matthew and starts to twerk as he half-sings, half-yells into his mic,

“A whole new woooooooooorld!”
“A dazzling place I never knew!”

“But when I’m way up here,”
he turns to face the crowd and tweks with his ass facing the crowd

“It’s crystal clear thaaaaaaaat”
“Now I’m in a whole new wooooorld with YOOOOOOOOUUUOOOOOOOOOH!”

he straightens and moves back to Matthew, a little breathless from his twerking as he waits for his partner to lead into the next part.

Aeryn looks stricken as she glances over Malin, leaning in to whisper.

Malin might be almost unconscious, but she’s still managing to take in Kai and Matthew’s stellar performance. It seems stellar, at least, in the state she’s in — or so it appears.

Giving Jasper a smile as he settles down next to her, Eloa glances at the drinks between the two guys around her and glances over at the drinks table but it’s too late, she’s sandwiched and not planning to move. So she just claps as Kai starts howling on the stage.

Subtly, Aeryn reaches to lace her fingers with Malin’s, nodding her head.

Malin lets her fingers lattice with Aeryn’s, and she just lets the seat hold her, sinking into it even if it doesn’t have any cushion.

Never one to leave a twerk hanging, Matthew knows where to go in this dance, twerking up on Jesus where he stands between himself and Kai. When it’s his turn to sing he does so, face shooting to the air for the harmonies that aren’t harmonies at all.

“Now I’m in a whole new world”

“With you…”

He steps out from behind again, crouching low as though to match heights for Kai’s next line.

Lykaia looks up from her phone at Kai and Matthew and sees them twerking, and this does make her laugh again, one that settles at a light grin.

Kai belts out a horrifically off key couple of lines, his voice cracking on the very last word:

“Unbelievable sights!”
“Indescribable fee-iiiling”

He spins around, he can’t dance either but he does something like a dance that brings him near the karaoke machine and YEEEEEEEEEK a piercingly loud bit of feedback goes through the air.

Did he do that on purpose?

He dances away to move up to Matthew’s side, letting the man take the lead on the next bit as well, gazing up at him with fake adoration.

Shiloh winces, turning his head away as the feedback rocks the room, opting to take another drink.

Seraphina winces with the feedback, rubbing at one ear.

Preston/span>/spanJasper cringes on the feedback, his hands almost ready to clap as he looks up at the singers.

That feedback works like a spll and Matthew looks about as dazed as everyone else. By the time he’s getting his focus, the song’s nearing its end, he’ schasing the words, “That’s where WE’ll be.”
“A thrilling Chase.”

He finds the performance for the last line, locking eyes with Kai as he reaches out with a hand to stroke at the other man’s cheek, “For you and me.”

When she lowers her fingers from her ear, Seraphina lays it on Preston’s knee, giving it a pat. “You will see! Maybe. If I get called anyway.” She crosses her long legs in that creaky leather.

Kai’s pupils are just a touch more dilated and his grin is a bit less forced after the feedback rings out painfully as he finishes the last song with Matthew, staring ‘lovingly’ into his eyes, “For you and meeeee!” he then steps back, turns to the crowd and bows a few times overdramatically.

Jakem settles on his butt on one of the available folding chairs, leaning back until it balances on two of the legs, making it into a makeshift and very precarious recliner. “Now this is a show.”

Shiloh claps loudly for Matthew and Kai, grinning nearly ear to ear, “WHOOOOO!!”

Preston glances to Seraphina, snorting at her, but nodding, settling back into the loveseat he’s sharing with the creaky leather wearing woman. “Fair enough,” Preston replies to Seraphina, glancing back at the stage, and beginning to clap when Kai and Matthew finish their song.

“WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” he yells out, then whistles loud.

The song over Matthew grins out and to the crowd. “Alright, alright, so next up we have….” and he points towards the loudest one in the room Shiloh, “ome on up here man, you ready to do a song?” Did he even sign up or is this now becoming Voluntold Karaoke?

Malin whistles at Matthew and Kai, albeit weakly.

Shiloh snickers and stands up from his seat, nodding to Eloa, “Ready, El?” He asks with a grin, swooping up the bottle of tequila for one last swig of encouragement before marching on up, “You know it.”

Clapping loudly for Matthew and Kai and genuinely seeming to enjoy herself, Eloa turns to give Shiloh a smile as he’s pointed out. She leans a bit towards Jasper, almost as if the stage is all his before he calls her out, making her press her lips together. She gives him a resigned look and then lifts her hand for him to pull her onto the stage.

Kai hops off of the stage and flings his microphone over to Preston and Seraphina’s loveseat. He’s forgotten (or has he) to turn off the mic so there’s another nice unpleasant rush of air as it is launched toward the loveseat where it’ll hit its back unless Seraphina or Preston bother to try to catch it out of the air, “Next up! Seraphina, our illustrious owner of this fine coffee shop, who generously allowed us to hold our event here!” and off he goes to plop down at his former seat by Lykaia.

Jakem glances to Malin “You got trouble whistling in the rain too? I could never get the hang of it.” he comments over to her before turning his attention to the stage. “Oh shit, the owner? We better clap for this one.”

Preston just reaches out and catches that tossed microphone with one smooth motion, flicking the thing off so the feedback stops.

Matthew starts clapping loudly, shooting Eloa and Shiloh a grin as he announces into the mic, “Wooo hooo, Seraphina, so glad she made this open to us.” Short and sweet he passes her the mic and promptly vacates the stage.

Seraphina isn’t quite paying attention to a flying microphone, so it is a good thing that Preston is on top of it and catches it. Because when she finally does see it, there is a raise of her hands to save her face, and her knees raise to put her into a crouching position. “EEEEEE!”

Shiloh pauses mid stride with a tilt of his head as Kai calls Seraphina on up, snickering softly as he resigns his position on stage before he arrives up there, moving to lean against the wall.

Lykaia looks up from her phone when Kai returns to his seat and grins at him. “Your love forever sworn, Kai. No doubt between you and mister Montrose.” She winks at Kai, the grin staying.

“Oop! And Shiloh’s next!” Kai calls with a nod to Shiloh.

Seeming greatful that the two organizers are calling different people onto the stage, Eloa settles back into her seat after it’s announced Seraphina will go next.

Preston just keeps that microphone, glancing at it. “Who’s actually going?” he asks, glancing between Seraphina and Shiloh. “You said Sera, but now you said Shiloh?” The microphone is off so he’s not speaking into it, just very curious as to who he’s supposed to give it to.

Matthew makes his way over towards Lykaia, “I’m afraid I don’t recognize your face,” he says, “or perhaps have only seen you from behidn a mask. May I have the pleasure of your name?” The request comes on the back of a smile, and smallest of gestures that motions from himself to Lykaia by hand.

“Oh! Sorry, Seraphina’s up next, THEN Shiloh!” Kai calls out loudly to clarify his confusing ass directions.

Shiloh just seems confused now, opting to remain leaning against the wall, he waves over at Preston “Let the boss go, it’s her venue.” He then nods to Kai, chuckling at the clarification.

That’s good enough for Preston, and h e just hands the microphone off to Seraphina.

Two fisting microphones, Seraphina stands from her selected loveseat. “Well, I wasn’t expecting to go so soon!” She smiles to everyone and says, “Thanks for coming out for Kai and Matthew. I’m Se… Oh. I can wait..” She holds one of the mics out to Tamar. She raises her brows up at the man.

Seraphina probably held it out to a lean bodied man, but its crowded.

Tamar arrives late, slipping in the back quietly and occupying a chair amongst the others where she settles down to watch. Just watch.

“Best way it is, Kai.” Lykaia says, leaning just barely closer while her eyes stay on Preston and Seraphina, and then draw to Matthew when he asks. “Pleasure, mister Montrose. Quite enjoyed your singing and performance. It’s quite impressive. Partaking often in stageplays?”

“I can’t say that I have, but always willing to dive head first onto a stage” Matthew says, continuing the conversation though it’s clear he’s seeking something from Lykaia. Instead he goes another route, nudging Kai with an elbow. “Kai, would you mind introducing your–” a pause as he attempts to place the title, “colleague to me?”

Malin glances at Aeryn, looking at her a bit suspiciously.

Lykaia looks from Matthew to Kai and smiles at him, a touch too innocently.

About to open her mouth as she looks towards Lykaia, Eloa catches the way she’s looking teasingly from man to man and closes her mouth instead.

Kai is a little confused by Seraphina’s words and shrugs, he grins a bit and turns back to Lykaia and Matthew, “Uhh? Oh yeah, she’s my co-worker,” he tells the latter.

It seems that maybe the offer is not taken, so she goes to the karaoke machine to plug something into it. One of the mics is then set down. “Okay.” Seraphina wiggles her fingers to the crowd as the tinkling of chimes and other instruments begin. She places the mic into the stand, and holds it as she sings, standing straight behind the slender amplification instrument, eyes unblinking as she begins to speak-sing. “I don’t like your little games. Don’t. Like your …” She cocks her head, “Tilted Stage.”

Jakem hmm’s, tilting his head so his green mohawk flops a bit “Is that thing on?” he asks no one in particular.

There’s a bit of confusion as well in Preston’s features as Lykaia glances at him, and he’s eying Matthew, Kai and Lykaia in turn. Gears turning as he tries to figure something out. Brow furrowing even further, but then Seraphina is beginning to speak-sing, and Preston turns his attention back to the stage, and towards her.

Shiloh grins up at the stage, watching Seraphina curiously.

And then Kai just calls her co-worker, and she had to laugh. Delightfully so before eyes drop down to her phone again. Sending a single word text, and then another a few moment later. “Pleasure, mister Montrose.” Lykaia tells Matthew, the slight play of mischief ill concealed.

Glancing over at Shiloh, Eloa gives him a small smile and offers her hand given the woman on stage has apparently finished her song already.

“Oh it looks like Seraphina has some urgent business, so… Shiloh! You’re up!” Kai calls lazily after the din of the crowd.

Matthew is being toyed with, his expression shifting, performance-ready smile giving way to a flicker of somethign sharper and a hint of challenge. He doesn’t speak at first, lips pressed shut, dragging slow across his teeth as he bos his head with a sudden shift in attutde –ok, we doin this. But he’s amused more than annoyed, dipping his head for something murmured low before he’s extending a hand toward Lykaia. “Yes, pleasure to mee you as well.”

Busy busy, Seraphina seems to be, and it sounds like Preston is going to be the one to help her out. Lifting a hand in a wave, he makes his way out, waving towards people, with a little. “Enjoy, people! Rock it, Shiloh!” And off he’s going, making sure Seraphina can get to work in time.

something on Seraphina’s phone grabs her attention and she hands off her mic to the next person with sudden apology. She then hurried from the stage.

Kai wanders over to the other seating and plops down nearish Eloa, tapping away at his phone as he settles in with the group.

Matthew watches as the group filter out and then his eyes are locking back with Lykaia’s, “Shall we join the other’s in that seating?”

Shiloh blinks looking between the stage and Eloa before shrugging, taking her hand and leading her up to the stage, “I’m gonna assume since you didn’t say no we’re doing the last one?” He asks her, double checking as he taps away at the karaoke machine, taking hold of a mic.

Lykaia does ignore her phone for a moment now, between a lot of texts that pop up at the top, and then fade again. She takes Matthew’s hand, and holds it firmly. “Could ever be worse. Imagine rain. White dress. I forgot an umbrella.” The words place fleetingly, she doesn’t really care. When Matthew asks on seating, she looks to Kai who’s already wandered off.

Shiloh grins aside at Eloa.

Tamar seems content mostly to listen and observe, only vaguely familiar with a few faces here present. She does turn her head to watch the other woman leave, looking a touch disappointed but then returns her attention to the rest of the group. Lykaia is given a curious glance when she joins them and then her gaze drifts back up to the stage to wait for the next singer.

Preston makes his way back into the stage area, settling down into stuff.

Eloa blinks a few times at Shiloh and then shrugs. “Okayy.” She tells him as she gets onto the stage looking a bit nervous. Taking one of the mics, she taps on it and then in her husky, breathy brazilian voice, she starts as the music for ‘shallow’ comes on. “Tell me somethin’ girl..” She gives a look to Shiloh, “Are you happy in this modern world? Or do you need more? Is there somethin’ else you’re searchin’ for?” Is she singing bradley coopers part? Yup she is.

It doesn’t seem that Preston is actually sticking around for long it would seem, nodding towards Matthew and Kai, giving them a ‘thumbs up’ of approval, and a wave to Eloa and Shiloh and making his way out.

Shiloh hops up on stage once the song is set, joining Eloa on stage with a wide grin, keeping his mic beside his face, looking like he’s about to swoon as Eloa begins the song, a slow acoustic strumming accompanying her voice.

Doing her best to make her voice more smokey like someone, Eloa isn’t an amazing singer but she’s not completely tonedeaf either, “I’m… fallin’. In all the good times, I find myself longin’ for change.. And in the bad times I fear myself…” She gestures towards Shiloh, clapping her hand on her mic as she encourages everyone to clap.

Matthew tips his head for what Lykaia says, perhaps considering the prospect, or maybe he is finally taking in the vision that is this gold-trimmed gown. Either way it leaves him looking somewhere between mystified and mildly disarmed. “It could have been worse.” His phone is going off as well, and he begins to withdraw that hand in favor of beginning to respond to a text. “Ilse,” he repeats again, “I should probably–” but he seems to have missed a queue and then smiles, easy.

Dovie waves to those gathered and finds a seat while trying not to be disruptive!

Kai peers over to Eloa and leans back in his seat, grinning a little bit as he tucks his hands into his hoodie, his eyes heavily lidded as he starts to kind of zone out, just enjoying the vibes, his gaze ticking between her and Shiloh, though he does pull his hands out to clap when encouraged.

Matthew instead turns to beam a bunch of attention on the stage, issuing out a loud whoop for the singers.

“Ayyy!” Matthew calls out for Eloa and Shiloh as they sing more of that Bradley, he doesn’t seem to kno the words but it doesn’t stop him from calling out the occasional word in passing.

Matthew A moment after and the Montrose retreats from the surface of public persona, focus settling back in and over to Lykaia.

Shiloh lets his lips turn upwards into a wide grin as he watches Eloa, and finally as his part comes, he begins, “Tell me somethin’ boy! Aren’t you tired tryna fill that void? Or do you need moooore?” He tries to keep his voice high there’s just something about his chicago accent that’s not doing it for the role of Lady Gaga, though he seems to be enjoying himself nonetheless, swaying back and forth in the slow beginnings of the song.

Lykaia looks up and looks over at Eloa and Shiloh, smiling. Then looks back to her phone, another message and she looks up and to Matthew. “Don’t really interact with socials. Think you’re an Influencer? Can ask you what kind of content you do, mister Montrose?” She asks, more curious than interested.

Turning a bit pink from all the attention, Eloa gives Shiloh an encouraging smile, trying not to look at the crowd at all because well. They’re the crowd and she’d have to imagine them naked or something. She claps a bit more as he starts to sing the woman’s part of the duet.

Tamar glances over towards the door when Cadalie makes her way in, and dips her head to offer a polite nod of greeting.

Cadalie walks in, playing with the features of her face with some illusions before she settles for the mirage of skincare. A glance from Tamar appears to decide for her where she’s sitting, and she quickly makes her way over.

Kai nods politely to Cadalie as well as he reclines in his seat, tucking his hands into his hoodie pocket.

Shiloh sings “Ain’t it hard keepin’ it so hardcore? I’m faaaaaalliiin’! In all the good times I find myself longin’…” He pauses, getting on his tip toes as he closes the distance between himself and Eloa, taking her hands, “Foooor change!” He sings as he pulls back once again, “And in the bad times, I fear myself…” He draws silent as he turns toward the crowd.

Tamar leans over to whisper back to Cadalie.

Dovie claps enthusiastically for Tamar.

Dovie claps enthusiastically for Shiloh

Matthew nods at Lykaia on what he is, confirming the title without offering much of a correction. “I have a podcast called Matthew’s Views,” he shares, “which is me on a soap box. A little cultural commentary and occasionally supplying unsolicited life coaching, and interviewing the odd guest when I’m feeling generous.” He considers this with a weighing gesture then summarizes, “it’s a following of personality, really, I am the content.” A pause and he wonders, “And what about you?”

Pressing her lips together a little as she holds onto the mic while Shiloh takes her hand, Eloa gives the man a small smile, her cheeks red as he keeps singing. She does glance out at the crowd just for a moment, probably a mistake before she squeaks a little and turns back. Her body sashays and moves to the music, waiting for her part in the chorus so that she can put on a lower voice.

Matthew claps for the singers, cheering on Eloa as she begins to dance, all finger points next to Shiloh for that last verse.

Shiloh belts out into his microphone as he fully faces the audience, striking a power pose! “I’M OFF THE DEEP EEEEEEND! WATCH AS I DIVE IN! I’LL NEVER MEET THE GROUUUUUUUUUND!” He closes his eyes, really getting into it, surely the alcohol has had no influence in this decision “Crash through the surface! Where they can’t huuuurt us! We’re far from the shallows now…” The loud scream singing finally comes to a close, his face a bit red from exertion.

Malin widens her tired eyes as she listens.

Lykaia looks up from her phone and doesn’t look away for as long as Matthew talks, listening. She makes a light grimace on what’s said, admitting “Couldn’t do it myself. Limited will for socials.” She looks a Shiloh, something thoughtful draws over her. “Officially? Private Security Consultant. Part time as civilian firearms instructed at the New Haven PD. It’s instructing, training newbies into the job. Most won’t manage. They mainly dealing with nudity disturbances right now.”

Tamar watches Eloa and Shiloh up on stage, not entirely certain that she’s jamming with this kind of music. Thankfully, Cadalie is there to distract her. She turns her head again, murmuring back to the tattoed woman.

Cheering a little for Shiloh as he sings the high part, Eloa puts on a low gruff voice as much as she can anyways although her brazilian accent probably makes it sound a bit different, “In the sha-ha, sha-hallow… In the sha-ha, sha-la-la-la-low… In the sha-ha, sha-hallow.. We’re far from the shallow now…” She sings with Shiloh and then gestures to him encouragingly for the high wailing part.

Lillian slips on into the room and squints her eyes in search of Amber. She quietly hustles on over to a seat next to her as soon as she finds her.

Dovie sways to the music

Aeryn waves a hand to Dovie, the one not occupied with holding Malin’s.

“NHPD?” Matthew repeats, sliding into the seat beside Lykaia with an easy grin and something sparking towards curiosity. “So do they give you like… a badge or something?” His eyes flick briefly to her dress, clearly not expecting to find it there, but he’s looking for it anyway. “You got a badge number? Would it be totalyl out of line if I referred to you as Officer?” He starts to list off playful guesses, genuinely trying to piece together everything she’s shared.

Looking very much like she’s breaking out of a daze, Aeryn notes, “Apologies if I missed anyone speaking to me, but the performances have been wonderful.”

Kai gives a wave to Derek upon noticing the fellow, nodding along with the song while he hangs out.

Shiloh takes a moment to catch his breath while Eloa sings, bending over, panting, clearly trying to hit those notes a little too hard before he joins in to sing with her, though that part of the song is already basically done as he recovers, eyes widening behind his messy auburn locks as he’s motioned to again, he straightens out, face still flushed as he sucks in a deep breath, voice cracking as he really tries to hit those notes, “I’M OFF THE DEEP EEEEEEND WATCH AS I DIIIIVE IN! I’LL NEVER MEET THE GROUU-!” His voice croaks out a bit at that last part, “CRASH THROUGH THE SURFACE! WHERE THEY CAN’T HURT USSSS! We’re far from the shallows…” He trails off at that last part, looking like he just might pass out, face red as a lobster.

A moment after and Matthew then is wondering, “Did you ever find out anything about the people that had TP’d the station?”

Dovie smiles at Aeryn, “I think you’ll find it fun, I hope you’ll at least try, or spectate. I wrote up some instructions for everyone to make it as easy as possible.”

Aeryn nods to Dovie. “I will definitely go, for sure.”

Coming to the rescue for the about to pass out man, Eloa finishes the song off with another, “In the sha-ha, shallow…. In the sha-ha, sha-la-la-la-low … In the sha-ha, shallow..”

Eloa waits for him to catch his breath before finishing with Shiloh, “We’re far from the shallow now…”

Malin blinks softly and slowly, making the slightest, pitiful sounding groan as she tries to get comfortable in her seat. Her hand remains holding one of Aeryn’s.

Shiloh just kind of pumps his arm in the air in victory as he recovers at the side of the stage, head low to the ground, letting Eloa finish the song off, croaking out a little pained “WhoOo!” At the end.

“Have no badge.” Lykaia answers Matthew readily, lips staying at a lighter smile to Matthew when her gaze draws up from her phone. “Was thinking, try get a more in line, officer job. But that’d be fulltime. Conflict with majority of work, assignment not set for a permanent stay in New Haven.” Oh noes, her smile grows a touch ridden with mischief again when she asks “Would you like to be arrested, mister Montrose? Could try find some uniform in their lockers by ‘accident’.”

Malin glances at her phone, and then she nods at Aeryn to confirm something.

“Hello,” Aeryn smiles to Lykaia. “Apologies, I didn’t catch your name. I’m terrible with them, sometimes.”

Derek looks over to Kai and lifts a hand to wiggle his fingers in greeting, slumping an arm over the side of his seat as he makes himself comfortable, observing the performance as if it were a spectacle, a slight smile on his expression.

Dovie nods back at Aeryn with a smile before cheering at the stage for Eloa and Shiloh. “Woo!”

Aeryn gasps at Malin. “I would have picked you up.”

Malin admits, “It wasn’t very safe,” to Aeryn.

As soon as she’s done singing, Eloa flees off the stage, giggling with Shiloh and comes back to sit in her spot next to Jasper and close to Kai.

Jasper claps his hands towards the Shiloh and Eloa once the performance ends.

Kai gives a little wave to Eloa, “Nice job,” he grins to her in encouragement and reaches up to rub his eye lightly.

Malin gives a friendly wave to Dovie with her free hand.

Dovie waves back to Malin. “The piece is up on Myhaven!!”

Tamar nods her head at Cadalie’s whispered response, pausing a moment to applaud briefly. Then she’s back to her whisperings again with the other woman.

Shiloh standa up straight, whipping his hair back to reveal his mismatched colored eyes as his hand draws through his hair, exhaling a loud huff as he recovers, hopping down from the stage to pass Kai the mic with a wide grin “And you were scared to sing.”

Malin looks physically exhausted and a bit pale, but she’s smiling weakly at Dovie. “I saw. It’s great. Thank you.”

Matthew never stops smiling, eyes on someone when she offers to take him in to the station. “You know,” he starts to say, “It wouldn’t be my first time and I’ve heard on great authority that jail’s where you learn the most things.” It’s not a yes, but he’s definitely not saying no, either. A moment and he motions towards his cousin Aeryn, “This is Officer… Ilse,” he shares, and then is trading names, “My cousin, Aeryn Montrose.”

Kai stands up with the mic Shiloh gave him and heads up to the stage, he tells the crowd through the mic, “Hey guys. If anyone else to sing, come on up,” he grins and slips the mic into the karaoke machine and heads back to his seat, flopping down.

Dovie gets up from her seat, waving to the crowd as she slips out!

Shiloh returns to his seat beside Eloa.

“It’s fabulous, I did watch it,” Aeryn nods.

Matthew glances past Aeryn toward Malin, issuing her a nod and an encouraging smile in her pale and sickly state.

Malin smiles at Aeryn. “Good, I’m glad,” she says before looking to Matthew and nodding back to him.

Shiloh grins aside at Eloa “I still think it wasn’t me would have been a better pick.” He comments before collapsing back in his seat “But that was fun.”

Pale green eyes turn away from Matthew to Aeryn. “Pleasure, Madam Montrose. Having a delightful evening?” She asks before Lykaia looks to Matthew again. “Jail is. Some files are better. Perchance.” She looks at Kai when he asks if anyone else would, obviously not volunteering. “Not an actual officer, madam. Civilian Firearms instructor.”

“I am, thus far. Yourself?” Aeryn wonders of Lykaia, smiling warmly.

Matthew look towards Malin like maybe she might muscle through it just to get on stage. But she doesn’t look to be in any state for that.

Malin is half dead in the seat next to Aeryn, but she offers Matthew a genuine smile.

Matthew then points to Aeryn, “Cousin,” he calls, “Cousin, we gonna sing?” He’s shooting her a look, “Shuold we try some Frank?”

“Absolutely not,” Aeryn tells Matthew in horror. “I sound like a dying seal.”

Kai watches his phone and finally he stands up, retaking the stage, his arms extend to either side of himself, “Thank you all for coming. Drink up or steal the booze! And anyone’s welcome to a free karaoke machine! You’ve been great, good night!” he calls and then Irish goodbyes his own event.
