Arcadia Park
It is night, about 78F(25C) degrees, and the sky is covered by dark grey stormclouds. The mist is heaviest At Carnation and Lake/span>/span There is a last quarter moon.
(Your target encounters a ghost who’s fixated on some past tragedy from their life, they need to either give the spirit some sense of closure, or send it on it’s way through more violent means.
)
Viviana stomps her way through the park. Viviana had an espresso, bringing it to her lips with a hearty sip as she takes a moment, hovering under the shade of a tree as she draws out a vape from one of her jacket pockets, bringing it to her lips to take a long draw. A shudder runs through her as the tempurature drops a few degrees rather rapidly.
Vesper is grumbling to herself as she walks through the park, having crashed her motorcycle roughly thirty minutes prior. Once temperature drop suddenly, she stills and checks the shadows to see if any seem particularly dark.
Viviana looks up towards Vesper, a small smile spreading across her lips. “At least it’s not raining out here,” she says, hearing the grumbling. “You look like you’re having a bad day, right?” she says, with a wry little lilt of her lips.
Viviana looks up towards Vesper, a small smile spreading across her lips. “At least it’s not raining out here,” she says, hearing the grumbling. “You look like you’re having a bad day, right?” she says, with a wry little lilt of her lips. “It’s kinda one of those nights, already… and this might be one of those places,” Viviana says.
Behind Viviana, in the trees, a figure did appear briefly, an older man with longer hair and an unkept beard. He walks from behind one tree – and disappears behind another.
Vesper’s head perks up at Viviana and she flits over to her, “Da, a little unlucky tonight it seems.” Her eyes dart over to the older man’s disappearing act and her eyes narrow, “And one of those days indeed. I wonder what we’re dealing with now this time.”
Viviana lifts her chin, her breath fogging in the air. “What is it?” Viviana asks, her voice a bit higher pitched. “… huh,” Viviana says, her eyes narrowing. There was another flicker of that man – starting at the first tree, and walking to the second tree.
Before a loud scream – something full of pain and loss – ripples through the park.
Viviana narrows her eyes. “Time distortion?” she asks. “Ghost?”
Vesper grimaces at the anguished scream, “Judging by that, I’m guessing ghost. If I’m right, it’ll second one of the day too.” Her voice a husky one and on the deeper end. She cups her hands over her mouth and calls out, “Enough creeping around, come out and state your business.”
“I lost it,” says the male voice, whispering through the trees. “I can’t find it, I need to find it,” the voice gets more and more frantic by the moment.
Viviana glances between the trees, pushing her whipcord braids over her shoulder. “I’m Viv, by the way,” Viviana says with a wink towards Vesper, taking another draw from her vape.
“And yeah, this fucking town is lousy with ghosts,” she says, with no small amount of bemusement.
The ghostly voice rises again. “I need it. I need it to trade for her treatment…”
Vesper bows her head to Viviana, fist over her heart, “Vesper Volkov, at your service.” she says with a small smile. Back to the ghost, she asks, “You need what? Speak clearly and perhaps we can help you find what you’re looking for.”
“My watch…” says the man. Again, the man was seen coming from behind one random tree, to disappear behind another. Searching the base of one tree. Then another. Then another. “I need to find my watch… I… need to sell it so I can get her treatment,” he murmurs.
Viviana watches this with a disinterested air, but she does flash a big smile at Vesper thereafter. “Charmed to meetcha,” Viviana says with a wink. “Been in town long? Enough to start getting annoyed by ghosts, it looks like.”
“It’s been nearly a month now since I came here, but relatively new, Da.” Vesper says as she tries to track the ghost from tree to tree. At the distraught spirit’s words, she rubs her chin, “Very well then. I suppose we need to retrace your steps. Where did you last leave this watch?” She queries.
“I’ve been here a while, and I feel like I’m still meeting new people all the time,” Viviana says. “Probably because it’s a big-ass city. Lots of spaces for people to be, and well… here we are,” Viviana says.
She helps by kinda poking around the bases of the trees, herself. “I’m chainlink_ghost, by the way,” Viviana says. “If you ever wanted to do socials.”
The ghost, frantically, continues on its search. Although at the base of one of the trees, a faint light glimmered.
Vesper the light catches her eye and she marches over to the tree with aplomb, snatching up whatever is casting it, “I am know as Carapace.” She then puts two fingers in her mouth and whistles loud, “Over here, I think I found your watch for you.”
A breeze rustles through the trees, carrying with it a heady sigh on the same breeze. As Vesper picks up the glint, she finds a watch. Rusted – useless… a rolex, which may have been worth something like fourty years ago, but with the passage of time was just a rusty, broken hunk of junk.
But the area around them warms regardless as the presence of the ghost seems to fade.
“That was an easy one. No threat of death, at any rate,” Viviana says, with a smile.
“Hey, reach out sometime. I need to go get a coffee or some shit.”
Vesper twirls the rusty Rolex around her finger as the area warms back up and nods sharply at Viviana, “Da, it was. Smooth as silk. I’ll match with you on Myhaven.” She reaches into her pocket, pulling out a crumbled pack of cigarettes and shakes out that last one. “For now, I’m going to swing by that smoke shop I hear about. Do svidaniya!”
Viviana gives a wave, her smile brightening on her lips. “Good to meet you, reach out anytime, alright?” Viviana says with another salute given towards Vesper.
