(Lykaia’s Dining at McShiel’s Irish Pub)
[Mon Oct 20 2025]
McShiel’s Irish Pub
The pub holds a classic, old-world charm to it. Dominated by dark wood and ornate craftsmanship, the space features a long, polished bar lined with high-backed wooden stools. The bar itself is detailed with carved woodwork and brass footrails, and a variety of beer taps gleam from its center.
Above the bar, a decorative wooden overhang adds a bit of flair, with vertical slats and crown molding that give the area a cozy, enclosed feeling. The ceiling is open and industrial, exposing wooden beams and ductwork, while soft, warm lighting spills from elegant chandeliers, casting a golden glow over the space.
To the left, round high-top tables with matching wooden stools offer casual seating. The floor is tiled with an intricate mosaic pattern, adding texture and historic moxie. Walls are adorned with framed art and flat-screen TVs, that almost exclusively seem to be playing football, or as Americans call it, “Soccer”.
It is about 65F(18C) degrees. The mist is heaviest At Elm and Blackstone
Horace takes a seat at the bar and takes a cup of coffee, wrapping his hands around it. Lykaia’s glance is returned and eventually a clipped short nod to her is given. Teagan gets a half smile, but only a half. “Pleasure.”
Landon makes his way into the bar and he turns his attention over his shoulder to look outside. “That fog is no fun to walk in.” He mutters to himself and then brushes himself off a little before his gaze is cast around as he takes in the sight of the pub. Lykaia gets a few confused looks from him, but his own attention is quickly shifting over to Matthew. “New to town, been here a few days but… Still very much new.” A light smile settles on his face. “I’m Landon. Nice to meet you.”
“Oh in that case,” Matthew slides down the bar to make a place for Landon, “Welcome to the city, Landon. Good day to head out to the pub, Lykaia here–” he nods in Lykaia’s direction, “has generously hooked us up with a meal. What brings you to the city?”
“Ah, Voltark on MyHaven, right?” Teagan asks of Landon after another sip of her stout. She sets down the glass as she takes out her phone, skimming through some things.
“Have a beer or some food, people.” Lykaia says exhaling out again. She gives Matthew a nod. “Yea, name’s Lykaia. Figured it’s the right day for it. Wish I brought a cigarette or two.” Her shoulders lightly rise, and a hand places at the side of her protective vest. “So, how’s everyone doing today? Not getting into any trouble, I’m hoping?” She asks broadly.
Matthew says “Sounds like you’re doing the most important thing to prepare: working up an appetitite. “
Landon makes his way to that spot and sits himself down with a grunt, seeming to be glad to be off his feet. “Honestly, I’m here by complete accident.” He admits with a sheepish grin on his face. “Fell asleep on a bus, was woken up by the driver telling me it was the end of the line… Either had to willingly get off the bus, or thrown off. Now I’m kind of… Stuck here, I guess. No real funds to resume my travels with.” A sigh follows. “Though, not like I really had a destination in mind.” His gaze shifts back over to Lykaia. “Well, uh, thanks for the meal.” His attention even shifts over to Teagan and he nods his head. “That’s me.”
“Just… trying to go out and see some people, after a long of time of doing the exact opposite,” Shay simply tells Lykaia as he easily plucks the laptop from under his arm and unfolds it on the bar-top like this is where he’s meant to do it. Not troubled with the idea of helping himself for some bar food, he powers on his device to browse through what looks to be some college assignments on it. Maybe an essay? Whatever it is. Windermere stuff, that’s for sure. He does glance about to catch glimpses of the other folks sat by the bar.
Horace chuckles a little and nods towards Lykaia, it is a dry chuckle, almost like someone trying too hard to fit in. “I made it here. That was my big challenge for the day. Saw this was on the calendar and, well, thought I would come meet people and…” His voice trails when Landon jumps in and just falls silent, content to let the other man make small talk
Teagan says “Isn’t that what you’re doing right now?“
Unable to help herself, Teagan leans a little toward Shay out of curiousity. The messenger bag still slung crosswise over her does have the telltale sign of holding a laptop itself. “Teagan Lawson,” she says by way of introduction so she’s not entirely a snooping stranger. “CompSci major at Windermere. Junior.” She seems content with the potato skin nachos at the moment, though she does keep glancing toward the stew and the bread clearly meant to complement it.
“Intending to leave New Haven, or just staying around?” Lykaia answers and asks Landon. “Be an experience for you.” She adds, then looking to Shay, nodding, hen to Horace. “How was it a challenge? Mist was traveling north when I was looking. Or is it a mobility thing?”
Matthew listens to Landon’s story with no lack of surprise, like end of the line on the bus was a shocker. “Damn. I can’t say I’ve ever been there…” He drinks, considering the story before wondering of the group, “Any of you gonna be able to make it out to Highgate Coffee later, maybe even show off some hidden talents at the open mic?”
Landon looks to Lykaia as she asks him a question. “Well, so far I don’t think I have plans to leave. I’ve always been a fan of the phrase things happen for a reason.” He considers what he grabbed with a curious expression on his face. “So, I kind of feel like I might stick around for a while.” He tries the stew after speaking and then swallows. “Really hoping I can land a job though. I really need to save up for a car and a place to live. Walking everywhere… Not fun.”
Landon says “Also, that’s pretty good.“
Matthew nods toward Landon, “Job, what kinda work you do?” he wonders of the man. He reaches for another potato skin, continuing on, “I own a couple businesses, looking to fill a few positions if you’re interested.”
“I have crashed my car in the mist twice, but the mist was waist high outside of my apartment when I got out to the car so,” Horace tells Lykaia with a lift of his shoulder. “Mobility mostly then, I suppose.” He shifts his weight to face the door more
Landon looks to Matthew. “Only real experience I have is working in my dad’s electronic repair store.” He wipes his mouth to make sure there’s no stew around it as he talks. “But honestly, I might take what ever I can even if I have to learn new things. Hotel stays are pretty expensive.”
“Plenty of jobs around, if you are looking. I have a few out on offer, too.” Lykaia says, modding to Matthew before she draws her focus to Horace. “Entire city was misted up yesterday. Of course, drove out to get someone’s augments handled not paying attention, and crashed two blocks down. Pretty annoying. But it’s how it sometimes goes.”
Shay slowly drags his attention away from the laptop screen to turn his focus over to Teagan, head still for a moment while the man is presumably appraising the woman in front of him, his gaze and, well, the whole of his face still covered under his helmet there. With a light cant of his head, he finally offers his gloved hand to her, and there’s a tinge of a smile evident in his polite voice. “Shay Kerrigan, studying Supernatural History. I’m a Senior, it’s good to meet you. Teagan, was it?”
“Electronics repair?” Matthew asks, visibly perking with interest. “I actually own an electronics shop,” he says to Landon, “Well.. a soon-to-be electronics shop with a barcade in the back. Spot called the Multibox. I’ve been real lazy about ordering inventory and stuff, but don’t mean we’re not hiring while I get it off the ground.” He shrugs, “Also own a bowling alley, no real skill required to work the front desk out there.”
“There’s SPEC-tronics in Aurora Heights,” Teagan tells Landon. “You could see about getting a job there.” She glances to her phone, smirks at something, types out a text. There’s another sip of her stout before she gives a nod to Shay and accepts the handshake, even if the helmet and glove combo do earn him a slightly strange look, but then… It’s a city of oft-strange people. “Yes and a pleasure, Shay. Seen your name on the rolls, was wondering when we’d cross paths.”
Horace nods in agreement with Lykaia. “So it goes,” he echoes her sentiment then goes back to watching everyone chit chat, seeming to have little to offer on the topic of electronics.
Landon shifts his attention between Lykaia, Matthew, and Teagan and he nods his head at both of what they say. He tries some of the stout next before speaking. “Well, I’d be willing to help out where ever the help might be needed most.” He exhales lightly through his nose. “Though, Aurora heights seems to be pretty far out there, if I’m remembering right.”
Matthew look sup after checking his phone, “Hey, anyone know if Mercy got rescued from the mists? She usually here for free food, but she’s not and i just remembered she went down last night.”
“What kind of electronics? Just software or hardware?” Lykaia asks, returning a nod to Horace and then giving Landon another look-over. “Set up my own drone couple weeks ago. Contact didn’t have one on equipment.” She exhales and gives Matthew a look “I’ll trace for her number. Would expect she’s out with the Director.”
Matthew shrugs his shoulders, “She was shifted, don’t think her phone was on hand,” he points out to Lykaia.
“Oh, you know, I’ve just been…” Shay begins, as he draws his hand back to rest his wrist on his laptop again, slowly turning his attention back to the device. “… sleeping,” he claims with a light clear of his throat. “Could use the hibernation, apparently.” There’s a few click-click of him typing away on his phone, before his head tilts ever so slightly, and slowly, towards Matthew’s direction. “Yeah, Eric and Avalon got her out last night. She should be safe.”
Teagan can only shrug at the question. “Unsure. I was watching movies and napping all day. I’d ask Kaelyn or-” As Shay confirms, there’s a nod. “Ah, good.”
Shay typing away on his laptop, even. Different device.
Horace nods, “I met Avalon. Kind of a dick.” He squints off into the middle distance before taking a sip of the free coffee.
Landon turns his gaze to Lykaia. “Mostly hardware. Dad was slowly working towards adding software to the service options.” His lips twist into a heavy frown and he glances down wards. “Just never got there.”
Matthew smirks at Horace’s words, looking down the bar in the trucker’s direction. “Oh yeah? WHat’d he do to earn that rep with you?” There’s a twinkle of amusement in the Montrose’s eyes, curious to hear about the off-worlder’s transgression.
Teagan snorts quietly at Horace’s assessment of Avalon. She does not appear to disagree as she finally does reach for some of the stew and bread.
“Trace signal’s there, so she’s out of New Haven. Not on them usually tracks to not finding.” Lykaia says, after a couple of moments. She did not take out her phone to do that. “Weird thing with fingerprint and cookie tracking.” And then, she gives Horace a look. The left corner of her lips makes the slightest twitch. “Yeah, I do wonder what happened to get to that point.” Her cadence leans to something just a nudge lighter.
“I am not like the rest of you,” Horace says lifting a shoulder once then adds. “Ergo I was pointedly ignored,” this is reported without much feeling one way or the other. Avalon’s temperament doesn’t seem to bother him, it just is. A fact. “Tessa is fond of him, however.”
Shay seems to finally decide to put an end to his still extremely Work in Progress college essay by unceremoniously folding it shut, not even bothering to power the thing down first if anybody’d cared enough to look. Holding the device against his lap, he diverts his attention to look at the ongoing conversation between Horace and Matthew.
“What do you mean not like the rest of us?” Teagan asks of Horace, tilting her head. “If you’re assuming we’re all supernatural,” there’s a beat and a glance sort of down the line of people at the bar. “I think you’ll find you’ve guessed wrong,” there’s a brief flash of a grin at the man. “As for Avalon, yes, he can be kind of a dick. But he is a reliable one at least. He has saved my boring human ass twice.” There is a pause before she adds, voice flattening as she lifts her stout: “And then let me get taken by a monster.”
Matthew hums when Horace explains, not looking particularly moved one way or the other, “It happens,” he reasons without too much concern, “but I get it. Coming from a man who craves attention–” anyone tapped in remotely online, or even found themselves thumbing through tiktok and shorts, are sure to have seen this man’s face for however long they tolerate it before swiping. “Sucks to be ignored.” THen he glances back towards Landon, “Speaking of, I think I didn’t hear your response, but if you wanna work in electronics I’ll give you a try at the Multibox, and otherwise there’s the bowling alley.”
“Fits it. Avalon’s reliable. Even if annoying to deal with. He’s very pro supernat, considers humans as less and hunters as nuisances on the path that absolutely ends in death.” Lykaia chimes in now, her fingers sliding along the side of her protective vest, down to her hip. “If he’s ignoring you, he’s definitely done it on purpose. Not of interest until you can owe him a favor or there’s value, and that’s going to come quicker than you’d think.”
Landon seems a little confused as he listens to the conversations going on around him. A small frown is forming on his face as he seems to be trying to figure it out, until Matthew speaks up and pulls him out of his thoughts. “Ah, I had said I’d be willing to help out where ever the help might be needed most.” His frown shifts in to a bit of a smile as he talks. “I think I’ve walked past the bowling alley a few times, haven’t yet stopped by though.”
Leaning away from the conversation, Shay shifts his attention back towards Teagan as his body tilts closer to where she is. “Anyway, I’m on MyHaven if you wanna keep chatting, I’m sashay on there,” he tells her in a hushed tone, before promptly sliding out of his bar stool to hopefully make a quiet leave from the bar.
Horace lifts half of a grin at her, the slightest twitch at the corner of his mouth, before nodding. “Apologies for assuming,” he tells Teagan before looking back to Lykaia and lifts his shoulders. “Perhaps. I am not around very often, maybe a few days a week, and am not particularly exciting.”
“I still need to talk to Avalon, tell him that I consider my debt paid for the whole taken by a monster thing,” Teagan mutters to herself, glancing to her phone as Shay departs to verify they are matched on MyHaven and sending off a message to her fellow student to confirm. She gives a shrug to Horace as she looks back up. “It’s fair. More people than not are supernatural in some way, I get it. But most also don’t care if you aren’t. Avalon’s just…” She waves a hand absently as she sets her phone down. “Either way, though, if you get mistnapped, he will help. He’ll just… yeah, consider you as owing him a favor after.”
“Take my number,” Matthew says to Landon, reading off some digits, “Seven ten, oh two thirty-six.” A pause and then he’s tossing out with the straightest face imaginable,”or mega dot stud,” totally straightest faced like this were an acceptable and professional handle, “on MyHaven.” He delivers it deadpan, though the faintest glimmer in the Monarch’s eyes gives him away, humor tucked beneath all that polish, self-aware enough to make a joke at his own expense.
“Would be disagreeing on that point.” Lykaia says, making a slight shake of her head to Horace. “Not a first time your name’s crossed my data. Probably isn’t going to be the last time.” She stills, and her head makes a slight tilt to Teagan. “Be curious if it changes when he’s resolved the thing that’s coming next for him.”
Horace looks over to Lykaia and tilts his head slightly, considering her. “Interesting,” he muses. “Nothing good I hope,” he quips but he turns his head back to Teagan and acknowledges her argument with a dip of his head, “Fair enough.”
Looking up from her phone, Teagan raises an eyebrow in response to Lykaia. “Next thing? I know Matias mentioned assisting him with something. He asked if Avalon had requested my aid as payment for the debts, but so far no. Or is this some other matter he has?”
Landon pulls out his phone after Matthew gives a number and he taps on the screen as he sets up the contact before firing off a text. “Hopefully I put in the number right.” He offers his own grin to Matthew. He takes another sip of his drink. “I’m in no rush. Don’t have much to do other than sit around in a hotel room.”
Matthew’s head tilts in Teagan and Lykaia’s direction, listening to the pair speak, interested without chiming in. Landon’s response earns a small smile and a nod, “Great. Maybe I’ll just kidnap you on for the open mic night I’m hosting later,” he says, grinning faintly.
Matthew squints at his phone then up to the group, “Was that raid this morning or tomorrow?”
Landon goes for another sip of his drink, but freezes when Matthew talks about kidnapping him for open mic. “Might need a stronger drink for that…” He seems only… Half serious about what he just said.
Lykaia gives Horace one more look before she shifts her attention to Teagan “If you’re a ritualist. Offer in repayment. If not, then you’re probably not very useful on it.” Matthew’s question has her slip out her phone from a pocket, open it and answer “Seeing sixteen-hundred for tomorrow for a raid.”
Lykaia says “In my time. In lovel, it’s ten-hundred.“
Matthew winks at Landon, “Oh, I’ll have some booze ready if that’s all you need.” Then over at Lykaia, “I typically can’d do mornings, will you be showing up to that one?”
“Should be able to, don’t think anything’s going to come in the way of it. It’s where I’m avail.” Lykaia answers to Matthew with a slight nod. “Might be a hard do, but we’ll see when it gets there.”
Matthew nods slowly, letting his phone tuck away and then his attention is drifting back over to Horace. “Sorry to hear about your car, Jim. I take it yours came back from the shop, though?”
Horace finishes his coffee and makes ready to stand. “Oh, yes. It has been out of the shop for a bit,” he explains with a smile. “It was a pleasure to meet you all, and see you again, Matthew,” he flips open his phone and reads something before closing it and adding, “If anyone needs something delivered, 7100832.”
Landon chuckles at Matthew’s words and eats some more, letting the others talk as he focuses on his meal.
Matthew nods at Horace, that number getting tossed into his phone, “Good seeing you again, Jim. Hopefully I see you tonight at the open mic?” He smiles and waves, looking over at Teagan, asking, “You still thinking you’ll be able to play violin?”
Horace lifts his shoulders in a shrug. “Sure. We’ll see what else I got going on.”
There is a wrinkle of her nose as Teagan looks Lykaia’s way. “I am a baby ritualist. I had just begun to learn from Miss Kane before she left town, though Professor Alejandro is teaching me as well. Perhaps I will offer. I could at least assist.” She does miss giving Jim a parting wave or similar, blue eyes moving to Matthew as she does reach for some more nachos before the Monarch finishes them all. “That is the plan, yes. Though I daresay I shouldn’t guarantee it since that seems to always end up in me getting mistnapped or somesuch.”
Matthew pulls out his phone, “I’ve been checking the weater,” he says, “and I think the danger zone is on the other side of town to the west.” He bounces his brows, “so hopefully not too dangerous, especially if you’re comin from Bayview.”
“The mists have been behaving for the most part, but Highgate does often end up misty,” Teagan says with a small shrug, giving Matthew a brief look. “That and I have taken to driving extra slow these days. Takes longer to get places, but I haven’t crashed in a while.”
“Highgate does.” Lykaia says, following after Teagan “Used to be pretty fun to hunt in. World tree was a safe spot for a while, kind of was a nice sort of camping ground for it. Changed since sadly.”
“I sped the whole way here,” Matthew boasts, but then, “So I was lucky cus I was just blaring music and going without thinking that much about it.” If there’s any meaning behind Teagan’s looks, they’re lost on the Court’s monarch, who is currently reaching for more potato skins. “Well, if you come, you come,” he reasons with a shrug.
Matthew says, leaning his head back, “I keep saying I’m going to go out hunting, get some practice in, and then… “
Matthew says “Good work, Obie. “
“Then it gets busy. I got to go hunt again, too. Will take Tamar with me soon.” Lykaia says, taking a step away from the bar. “Just can be really dull to do hunting all the time. Don’t know how Avalon or Ekat can do that. Can be a bit mind numbing, but it’s helpful to keep practiced.”
“Matias and I have been discussing going on some patrols. I know he’s been trying to get Avalon to join us, but pinning him down has been tricky.” Teagan does find herself reaching for more of the nachos because she can’t let Matthew have all of them. “I need more training before I’ll feel even remotely comfortable hunting.” She chews, washes it down with some stout, and glances towards Lykaia. “How… uhm… how is Tamar? Before I got… monsternapped, she and I had… rather a heated argument. It was right after the whole…. thing that caused Robert to leave town.”
“Is that what she does all day, every day?” Matthew asks, with a brief lift of his brows, a pause and then, “She’s going to be joining us here soon, I’m planning to have a chat with her about Elysia.”
Making a nod to Matthew, Lykaia then keeps her attention on Teagan, quiet for a few seconds before she evenly tells “Lonely. Robert’s abandoned her like it means nothing. Given up on the cause and left Vigil, Temple to rot.”
Matthew has no idea he’s in a potato competition with Teagan, but he does continue to reach over and eat them, already on his second stout. He listens to Lykaia’s response, interest drifting back in Landon’s direction, checking in on that guy. “My knight, a guy who’s working for me named Chance, might be swinging this way, might have him interview you and all that, for the job.”
“I… imagine I did not help,” Teagan admits, grimacing. “It was right after that whole affair. And she was telling me how she was going to murder Kaelyn and Mercy on sight. Kaelyn is a good friend of mine and I got… rather heated about it.” She exhales slowly. “When I got back from… wherever the monster had me, I saw she’d tried reaching out. And she was polite enough at the ball.” There is a shrug from the redhead. “We were friendly, but then Robert tried… forcing me into the Vigil and *that* was a whole ordeal.” She makes a face and tries to drown it in the rest of her stout.
Matthew glances towards Teagan at the mention of the ball, “Oh hey, how was the ball, sounds like it was really popular and folks had a great time.” He smiles, encouragingly, “Good work on organizing it.”
Landon seems to be just slowly eating and drinking as everyone else talks to him. Browsing a little on his phone. Matthew talking to him draws his attention away from it though. The comment about ‘knight’ makes him look confused, but he nods his head. “Alright. Hopefully I do alright in the interview.” A wry sort of grin forms on his face. “Since I’ve only worked at my dads shop, don’t have too much experience with job interviews.”
Stepping in, only smelling slightly of fire and napalm, Ekaterina raises a hand in greeting to Lykaia and Matthew as she heads over to the bar.
“Fassionably late, da.” she announces.
That does brighten Teagan’s mood and she reaches for another drink. “Oh, yeah. It went really well, actually! My only fear is that the council and Matias will expect me to organize the winter one as well. And that one was exhausting as it was.” But in a good way and she does look quite satisfied with the outcome. “I only hope the aquarium sleepover is half as good. I just need to come up with some food ideas and brainstorm with Obie.” She picks up another drink and looks to Landon. “Mmm, interviews around here seem to be pretty chill. You could also maybe talk to my boss, Jakem. I program his dolls, but he might be able to use someone in assembling them.” She shrugs. “Either way, I think you’ve got plenty of options.” She does look up as Ekaterina arrives, giving the woman a polite nod.
Teagan sees the stout is gone and grabs a Guiness instead. It’s not McShiel’s, but it’s still good.
“It’s for the best he’s gone.” Lykaia recalls, looking past Teagan, her lips parting to breathe in deeply when she sees Ekaterina come in. “I acquired the internal file, just be considerate with her. Let people be angry. Let them vent. They’re not likely to do something drastic in most cases when they do. Whole situation was a pretty big mess with people believing any Were’s somehow reasonable on a full moon. They aren’t.”
“Hey, gotta start somewhere,” Matthew reasons with Landon, though he seems like the sort that really don’t take anything seriously. He grins, lifting the drink and then there’s Ekaterina, fashionably late, and taking a seat at the bar. She’s granted a smile, but his attention remains with Teagan as she offers up a response, nodding in her direction a few times, “I’m looking forward to that aquarium party,” he promise before getting up and snagging a stool beside the Director. “Director, it’s good to see you, I wanted to talk shop a bit, here or maybe—” he glances towards one of the tables, “one of those tables there?”
“I know they aren’t,” Teagan says to Lykaia with a small nod. “But I also refuse to think them terrible… weapons or monsters outside of it as some do. Kaelyn is an incredibly sweet and kind person who… ended up a thing against her wishes. And she does the best she can with it. So, I got defensive of her.” And not for the first time. Likely not for the last! There is a glance as Matthew makes to depart the bar and Teagan watches to see if the nachos will disappear along with him or remain. She does eat some more… just in case.
“Da.” Ekaterina nods to Matthew.
Moving from the bar, she makes her way over to a table, a drink grabbed on her way.”
Landon chuckles as he hears both Teagan and Matthew. “Well, seems like it was a good thing I came here. Maybe soon my money troubles won’t be something I have to worry about.” He looks down at his stew thoughtfully, possibly already trying to figure out his money plans.
There are sooooo many nachos, and (perhaps to Teagan’s dismay) Matthew grabs wa fresh set with him to the table, but looking down the bar there are two more to choose from. As per usual, he doesn’t even notice this ongoing competition over potatoes.
“Sweet and kind… but hasn’t caged herself to prevent the catastrophe that happened.” Lykaia does point that out, but she doesn’t really seem to care. “Be realistic with it. How do they say in English? Once a mistake. Second’s a coinscidence, third time you be cautious. But can appreciate a person, just don’t be blind to their fuck ups when it leads to the bullshit it did.”
Matthew plops down, setting those potato skins like an offering to be shared with Ekaterina and himself, beginning to speak in a lower tone.
“Honestly?” Teagan says to Landon with a smile as she does concede the nacho war to Matthew (for now) and settles for her stew and bread. And Guiness. “I’ve done fairly well for myself and I’m just a college kid who works part-time for a crazy guy. I’ve even been looking at renting an apartment so I don’t have to spend the winter in a drafty-as-fuck dorm.” There is a shrug of concession to Lykaia, but any response is held as Mercy arrives and she lifts a hand to wave at her. “You missed out on so much food. Look at how little is left.” It’s a lie. There’s a lot left.
Tenzin holds the door open for Mercy and moves into the pub. He has a quiet word with the bartender, and glances around the room, exhausted.
Mercy returns Teagan’s wave but is strangely unmoved by the presence or implication of free food this time around, if anything the thought of it seems to make her already pallid face go a shade paler. “Next time.” she says, mirroring Tenzin in addressing the bar tender for a moment, then turning back to him with a nod.
Landon shifts his gaze to Teagan, snapping out of his thoughts and he nods his head. “Yeah, it was suggested to me that an apartment would be better. They said it was cheaper overall.”
Tenzin doesn’t stay, nor does he offer his usual greetings to the room. He simply departs as soon as Mercy is done, as if there was no special occasion.
“There are some pretty cheap ones out there,” Teagan says to Landon after giving Mercy a long look and even a mild frown as the two simply leave. Her attention shifts back to the man. “Especially if you find a roommate, though that can be harder when you’re new in town. Some of the organizations around also offer beds, though I imagine those are pretty basic, but… free and safe at least I imagine?”
Landon glances over to the people who had wandered in and out. He blinks a few times at the sight, surprised by what they seemed to have. He scratches at his cheek a little before he ultimately decides to just take another drink. He then looks over towards Teagan, though. “Ah yeah. I found a homeless shelter on my first day over. Was going to stay there, but ultimately decided on a hotel room at least.”
Lykaia takes another deep breathe in through her nose before she takes a step back towards the bar and sits back against it, watching Teagan and Landon.
Glancing at her phone, Teagan chews at her lip a bit. “I should head out. Got a couple things to take care of before the Open Mic.” She smiles at Landon as she slips away from the bar, grabbing a coffee to go. “It was nice to meet you. Good luck on the job hunt. Definitely come out to stuff like this. Good way to meet people and-” she gestures with said coffee to Lykaia and Matthew over at the table with Ekaterina. “potentially find work.” She lifts a hand to wave at people as she gathers up and heads for the door.
Matthew glances towards Teagan as she makes her departure, waving his farewell with a potato-skin. “Later, Teagan, hopefully I get to finally hear you play that violin.”
“Goodbye.” Lykaia makes a little nod to Teagan and gives Landon another look. “Yeah, there’s plenty of people needing extra employees. Brings some of the places to life often. I’d need a few extra designers or manager. Got property that isn’t anything right now.”
Landon waves towards Teagan. “Nice meeting you. Stay safe. I would have gone to that ball, but the entry fee confused me and I didn’t have anything fancy to wear.”
Landon looks to Lykaia next and he nods his head. “I don’t think I’d be a good manager, or designer.” He admits to her.
“Hopefully,” Teagan calls out to Matthew. There is a shrug in Landon’s direction, mouth quirking upward in a smile. “Just a memory from summer. Could have been as simple as writing swimming at the beach in August on a slip of paper. You’ll get the hang of it the longer you’re here.” And out the door she goes.
Matthew has a long winded response to something Ekaterina’s said, the man making a spreading motion with his hands. He all but misses the departing collegiate’s response, head turning in the direction of the exit to offer another, belated, wave. He spots Landon and upnods the guy, calling towards him, “I’mma take off after I’m done speaking with the director if you still want that ride.”
“Then a job with his Majesty would def be better for you,” Lykaia says, watching the other woman leave out of the door. She straightens now, stretches, arms coming held together down. “I’ll call it a night, too. You guys don’t get in trouble. See you.”
Landon nods his head at Matthew. “Alright.”
