(Tenzin’s Hunting Study)

[Sat Oct 25 2025]

At Market and Sidney/span>afternoon, about 53F(11C) degrees, and there are a few thin white clouds in the sky. The mist is heaviest At Panama and Sidney/span>“I had thought there would be more, as well, given the SLAG movement you are part of,” Tenzin laments with a click of his tongue. “However, I have not been inducted into this group. Perhaps this is why.” He checks on Ekaterina and Mercy first and foremost, for armor, weapons, and if they are ready to follow along with him. “We could wait and see if more would show, but I believe I have extended the grace period already.”

“My thanks for making time, both of you.” A humble bow of his head is granted the pair.

Ekaterina nods to Tenzin. “I suspect that Fairefield may fall. This will be inconvenient for many reasons.”

Mercy says “Hold up a sec, just need a couple minutes then we can get started.

“I had hoped that the mist would be touching either Fairefield or Elysia, but it is better to be safe about Legion territories,” Tenzin remarks to Ekaterina, with a patient nod at Mercy. “Perhaps these will need to be planned and executed more spontaneously next time. We will at least see some competition in Redstone, as there is another election coming.”

“Da.” Ekaterina agrees with Tenzin in full. “I would be shocked if the Conclave hold it any longer without Sister Constance, but we never do know.”

Mercy says “Who’s this ‘M’ person Lykaia’s gonna try an’ kill?

“This is so,” Tenzin hmms pensively, looking to the volcano rumbling beneath the auburn sky. “On the brighter side, we are slowly learning how best to handle certain things.” He glances at Mercy, asking, “‘M’ person? I may have missed the conversation on the comms while I was meditating.”

Ekaterina says “The Legion’s man. I would not talk too openly when scouts are around about this however, or the Legion may get further wind.

Mercy hushes right up with a nod.

Ekaterina puts on a bad Ken Watanabai accent, suggesting “Let them fight.”

Mercy says “Ain’ care what anyone does ‘long as we get a borough somewhere.

“There have always been so many of them. One is incapacitated, another replaces it,” Tenzin thinks to say, turning to move up the road and away from the volcano with Ekaterina and Mercy with him. “Let us hope that what we learn here today may be of help bolstering our ranks. You are both familiar with Redstone hunting? I believe the Director has more experience than I.”

Ekaterina says “It would be very nice. I thought we would have been able to keep All Saints with how much effort we put in, but I think we will have to try for where we show, then move from there.

Mercy says “Ain’ this leech territory? An’ like, lava bugs an’ stuff.

“This is leech teritory.” Ekaterina agrees with Mercy. “The aim is usually to not head too deeply as there are annoying areas where things grow vexing.”

Mercy says “Understood, definitely stayin’ on two legs then.

Ekaterina says “Most specifically, demonic soldiers, moths. Most other things can be dealt with in short order.

Ekaterina says “Moths are like ice sprites but stronger, so if you get in close, they go down.

Ekaterina says “Lava crawlers hit hard close quarters, but we will handle them.

Tenzin shakes his head at Mercy and Ekaterina both, correcting them, “We are far from it, at the moment. Here we will see a bigger variety of Hellspawn. It would be good to familiarize with them.”

A couple of drones in Temple colors zip overhead, ready to record footage for later adding to the database.

Mercy frowns just a little. “Ain’ wanna run into the thing that burned me real bad last time again.”

“I am not fond of being burned myself.” Ekaterina agrees.

Tenzin stops before the mist gets too thick. Peculiarly enough, nothing is coming out to attack even as they are waist-deep in the fog. The drones overhead switch on their thermal cameras.

“Hello, Jim,” the monk waves at one of them as it passes. “Jim helps me with the fixing of paperwork,” he lets Ekaterina and Mercy know, even if neither of them asked.

Raising a hand to the drones as they pass, Ekaterina explains to Mercy, “Here the creatures do not exit the wreathed areas.”

“Yes,” Tenzin answers Mercy without missing a beat. “The creatures do not ah, ambush you unless you are completely shrouded by the mist, yes,” he agrees with Ekaterina. “Although if you are being pursued, it will chase you all the way to the lightest of wisps.”

“I would like you both to help me take note of what comes. How they attack, if any seem armored and resistant to anything, what could be valuable about them, and best ways to counter these monsters. Are there questions so far?”

Ekaterina shakes her head.

Mercy snaps a more formal nod and hefts the crossbow over one shoulder, ready to march. “None here.”

Tenzin adds to that, “I would also like you to pay attention to how strong or cunning they may be. Such as, for example, how badly this snake may hurt.”

It seems the mist chooses when to kick things off for them. Tenzin upnods, “Let us begin.”

Tenzin eyes the snake creature, pushing its corpse over with a sandaled foot. “But this, we see this even in other places, no?”

Mercy says “We gonna carve things up where we drop ’em or move elsewhere?

“These snakes are not too harmful. They hit roughly as hard as a manticore, but are not cunning enough to attack from range.” Ekaterina shares. “Their fangs are value.”

Tenzin says “We can wait until we find something unique to Redstone for now.

Tenzin says “Perhaps we go deeper.

Tenzin says “I see now what you meant that one time, of monsters from elsewhere coming out of Redstone, Director.

Ekaterina nods. “Da. It is odd.”

Tenzin muses to himself, “Now, I wonder if we should not have instead begun north of here.”

Ekaterina says “Quick, smart, fast.

Ekaterina says “In close, they hit hard.

Tenzin looses another shot into the cyclops, mentioning, “I was surprised when I fought one of these before, as well. I did not expect them to be quick.”

Mercy says “Oohhh that’s new.

Ekaterina says “These are a bastard

Tenzin narrows his eyes at how the harpy disappears into the mist.. and out.

Tenzin says “How so?

Mercy says “Ain’ ever seen one. So new fer me I guess.

Ekaterina says “Fast, have ranged and melee abilities and hit like chimera spawn.

Tenzin says “More painful up close?

Ekaterina says “Their feathers are expensive though.

Tenzin eyes the second harpy that comes shrieking out of the fog. “It seems we have hit a nest.”

Ekaterina says “Remember, armor types influences how hard things hit you. The more ancient, the more magic resistances you have, and these things are magical.

Tenzin says “It seems they are somewhat weak to arrows. What of bullets?

Ekaterina says “Bullets hit normally.

Tenzin gets to plucking the feathers from the harpy, looking for one that stands out. One that hasn’t been ruffled too much. “I believe my armor is ah, of a more old-fashioned material,” he remarks of his own gear, patting the cuirass.

Tenzin says “Is the second bird any of yours?

Mercy says “Director’s.

Tenzin offers the second harpy body to Ekaterina for plucking.

“My own armor– Both jacket and bracers are more classical. I have my equipment armored best for animal attacks and fighting things more likely to be found in the mists than other people.” Ekaterina shares.

Stepping in, Ekaterina kneels beside the second corpse. Her knife begins to flash.

“I believe mine is, as well, but I did toy with the idea of a combination,” Tenzin remarks to Ekaterina and Mercy, checking over his shoulder in case anything might come out. “I am unsure if it is feasible, however.”

Tenzin says “We may need to return to the body later.

Mercy says “I ain’ even know what to wear, usually my own bone an’ hide is my armor.

Ekaterina says “They hit hard.

Tenzin says “Not as hard as the leeches but–

Tenzin says “Anyone on the remaining corpses? The minotaur, the other harpy?

Mercy says “Aw, none are mine.

Ekaterina says “I was.

There was a brief moment when the drones had gotten lost, but as Tenzin rejoined Ekaterina and Mercy it seems they found their way back.

Tenzin says “You know.. this snake. It reminds me of something.

Ekaterina says “Pokemon.

Mercy says “.. Which one?

Ekaterina says “Is like a golem, but tougher.

Tenzin mentions to Ekaterina as he chips at the rocky segments. “Yes! This. I had seen it in the geek store.”

Ekaterina says “Onyx.

Mercy says “Ohhhh yeah. Steelix is way cooler though.

Ekaterina admits to Mercy, “One of the originals. I do not kow if it still exists for your generation.”

Tenzin shudders at the way the stone rests in his palm, continuing to move. He passes it to Mercy for safekeeping.

Ekaterina says “I do not know what that one is. I get lost past the movie in the early two thousands.

Mercy pockets the stone after giving it a look over. “Which one, steelix?”

“I just know the Pikachu…” Tenzin is unfortunately lost in the conversation, the references and resources flying over his shaved dome.

“I recall them handing out very shiny cards with Mew and a second where you would write your own stats for it.” Ekaterina recalls. “And then Mcdonalds also had Pokemon cards in Happy Meals.”

“Da. Back in my day…” Ekaterina grouces in fluent old person.

Tenzin snickers quietly as he rises, cracking the horn off of its root on the minotaur’s head.

Tenzin says “More unfamiliar ones.

Ekaterina says “The wyrm I do not know. The statue hits hard.

Mercy says “Ooooohhh.

Tenzin says “That hurts somewhat.

Tenzin says “And now it is more painful.

Ekaterina says “That hurt a bit.

Ekaterina says “What did we learn from the worm?

Ekaterina says, dryly, “Of course you would.

As the trio rest up, Tenzin walks their minds back to the fight, tossing a golden necklace from the statue to Ekaterina and beginning to dissect the lindworm. “The worm, it hurt a little more than a minotaur. Just ah, somewhere between it and a wooden woman, however.”

Tenzin wryly smiles at Mercy. “You can have a dead one.”

Catching the necklace, Ekaterina nods to someone. “The statue is mostly harty. It hits at range like a pale warrior, and in close like a manticore.”

Mercy wrinkles her nose at Tenzin.

Tenzin says, adding, “But it was a bit alarming from a distance, slightly more alarming up close.

Catching the necklace, Ekaterina nods to Tenzin. “The statue is mostly harty. It hits at range like a pale warrior, and in close like a manticore.”

Ekaterina asks Mercy, “You would also have to clean its poop.”

“It has been a while since I’ve fought a pale warrior that was not simply a shut-in legionnaire,” Tenzin narrows his eyes into the middle distance.

Ekaterina says “Or would you make Eric do it.

“The last raid I drove to the satnav kept driving me the wrong way.” Ekaterina snorts. “Then when I finally arrived the soldiers came one at a time. I did hear about the raid with the vault that was twenty foot from the ground with some fae magic.”

Tenzin checks on his phone. “The mist continues to move south.”

Ekaterina says “They do hit rather hard in close.

Tenzin gestures for Ekaterina to take the first corpse.

Ekaterina says “Worse at range.

Tenzin says “Worse at range? Ahh.

Tenzin says “It must have had you in a good spot.

Ekaterina agrees. “It must.”

Ekaterina says “Griffons we already know.

Tenzin says “It is my first time to see one that is not cooked.

Tenzin twists at the griffon wings, inspecting parts and tossing one limb aside.

Tenzin confesses, “I am tempted to walk us around the mist to get closer to the north side, but it would be inconvenient.”

“It would, and if we come across a wyvern we would have a fight on our hands.” Ekaterina agrees.

Tenzin hmms with interest as he strips pelt from carcass, rolling it up. “We remain here then, and learn what we can.”

Tenzin says “Ah.

Mercy says “How are none’a these mine..

Tenzin motions for Ekaterina to the second body, the lindworm.

Tenzin says “Perhaps after this, we attempt to walk back just to see how deep we have gone.

“The mists have strange properties.” Ekaterina explains. “Eldritch in nature, da, but there is something in how much you harm the target, and who leads.”

Mercy makes a face at Tenzin, nose scrunched.

Tenzin chuckles at the drones on standby, “I am sure those who see this will think ‘Ah, what inexperienced Templars.'”

Ekaterina says “We are quite deep, I believe. The serpents usually appear closest to the more internal areas of mists.

Tenzin points to Ekaterina with his chin, nodding at this wisdom.

Tenzin says “Ah, do they? Hmm.

Tenzin says “Alas.

Ekaterina says “Manticore is easier target. I am not certain of the guardian.

Mercy says “Oh it’s that weird brass thing again.

Mercy says “Takes a lot of hits. Like, a fuckton.

Tenzin says “It is slow, but ah, doable.

Tenzin gets held fast by the manticore, and he tries to slam it up the head with his staff.

Tenzin says “Red, to me.

Tenzin says “Director, you may wish to join us.

Tenzin says “Or perhaps you ahve it handled.

Tenzin says “How painful?

Tenzin says “Pick up your corpses.

Tenzin says “Not the first one.

Tenzin says “Stay together!

Tenzin says “.. Hm.

Ekaterina says “That was brasing.

Tenzin says “It was. We ah, may need to move our steeds.

Ekaterina says “What stop.

Tenzin says “Stop 18 should be fine.

Ekaterina says “Once this goes down.

Tenzin says “Indeed.

Tenzin says “In case we lose the drones, it was been a pleasure.

Ekaterina says “A breather is good.

Tenzin tosses the dead griffon at Mercy’s feet, grinning toothily. “Yours, together with the manticore.”

Tenzin agrees with Ekaterina, “It is.” His eyes move to the train station nearby. “I did not know there was the station here.”

Mercy says “Aw shit nice.

“Neither did I.” Ekaterina agrees thoughtfully.

Tenzin lifts his eyes to the drones that have managed to follow here, despite the riding off on three different steeds. “Jim is still awake and working, it seems,” he notes. “I believe we have gleaned much today, regardless. We are bringing back quite a variety. Shall we decide which borough to distribute the resources to?”

Ekaterina says “I think this is an idea, da.

Mercy says “Ain’ ever sure what to suggest there.

“I do wonder if visiting Fairefield would be so good an idea, given this morning’s events,” Tenzin remarks to Ekaterina, however. He holds out the loot for them all to see: golden necklaces, brass daggers, animated stones, griffon pelts, minotaur horns, harpy feathers, poison glands, among others. “I wish there was some way to ah, discern how much these are worth, each,” he hmms.

Tenzin says “Would not be so good an idea, I mean.

Mercy says “This mornin’s events?

Ekaterina supposes, “We have some support in Elysia, twelve percent, though Fairefield is still threatened. Likewise Killgrove is where we will likely focus.”

A nod to Tenzin. “I could go to the base. I live a block away in Bayview.”

Mercy says “Oh, an’-

Mercy slips something to Ekaterina discreetly, sort of.

“I know as little of it as you heard over the comms,” Tenzin admits to Mercy, with a glance for Ekaterina. “Elysia will be first to have an election. Thereafter, the fifteenth will be Fairefield’s.”

Tenzin says “Ah, no. It will be on the 18th.

“If we each hold an event and if we can get a briefcase, along with hunting, we may manage to achieve Elysia.” Ekaterina suggests. “But it would be close.”

“We would perhaps need to do a raid, as well, but ah, there is also the question of priority,” Tenzin considers as he, Ekaterina, and Mercy continue to speak strategy. “But with that said, I would like to see if ah, there isn’t larger game to be found in the vicinity. Have you both found sign of any in the last week?”

Looking over the dossier, Ekaterina flips through it before slipping it under an arm as Mercy continues to butcher. “Good work. Do we have a symbol on it, or do we assume this is the one that Avalon ate?”

Tenzin remembers something, as well, slipping it to Ekaterina in addition to what Mercy passed along.

Ekaterina shakes her head. “I have not found disruptions, game, couriers or anything of the sort these past few weeks. Even encountering people on patrols has dryed up.”

“Perhaps if us three went looking together now, in the same spot, we might have some luck,” Tenzin ponders aloud, thinking to try and see if the drones might follow them for such a hunt.

Mercy says “May roam around an’ try to find some things tonight.

Mercy says “Or that.

Accepting the parchment, Ekaterina puts it with the dossier. “This is likely something best held in the records room.” she suggests.

Tenzin agrees silently with Ekaterina about the other matter, nodding.

Mercy says “Ayeah, we should discuss that an’ other stuff together at some point soon.

Tenzin suggests then, “Elysia, perhaps? A safer hunting ground for bigger game than Fairefield.”

Mercy says “Worth a shot.

Ekaterina nods to Tenzin. “Da.”

Tenzin passes around more of the resources, to split it evenly.

Tenzin says “Ah.. wrong horn.

Mercy tuts at Tenzin coquettishly and holds the gold necklace up to her throat. “Aw Ten, y’shouldn’t have.”

Tenzin scoffs at Mercy’s reaction, smearing his palm rudely down her face like it could wipe the expression off of it. “Not for you, for the borough,” he tsks.

Mercy reels her head back with a muffled “BLAGH!” and swats at the offending hand.

Tenzin says “It would probably be quicker if we were in the borough itself, no? Perhaps we should relocate?

Mercy says “Tell me where to drive.

Ekaterina nods to Tenzin. “Likely.”

“To stop 130, just north of the Wat Pang Sai, but be wary of the mist,” Tenzin warns Mercy, nodding to Ekaterina and looking up at the drones again. They’ve been taking scenic shots of Redstone for the past ten minutes. “If you need to take a break later, Jim, we will ah, fix everything tomorrow in the moviemaker program!” he calls out.

Mercy says “I’ll drive old-person on a Sunday slow, then.

Tenzin says, reassuringly, “No rush now, as we wait for our coordinated efforts to bear fruit.

“I can give you an hour more.” Ekaterina explains, checking her phone. “Then I will need to gate to Boston for work.”

Mercy says “Should I start headin’ to 130 now?

“I would, as well, need to return to the Wat Fang Sai by then,” Tenzin says the Fang part with extra gusto, grimly, too. “I shall wait for you two to depart first.”

Mercy says “Ayeah, well, ain’ gonna be able to manage a cleanse fer a -very- long time.

Tenzin hops off of his kicking horse and ends up tumbling against the curb, wincing, “Ah, ah, ah…” Funnily enough, the drones still follow them.

Looking over to the drones, Ekaterina suggests, “We should set up our own reality TV show. Jim is a good cam ops.”

Mercy says “Oh-

“Erase that part, Jim!” Tenzin warns, staggering to his feet.

Tenzin says “Ah, did we all receive this?

Mercy says “Ayeah.

Ekaterina says “I think so

Tenzin says “Shall we?

Mercy says “Les’ roll.

Mercy swings a glance up to Avalon. “Oh hey.”

“Good day, great bear.” Ekaterina greets Avalon.

Avalon nods his head at the arriving Mercy and Tenzin “Just a warning, might end up naked”

Tenzin files in with Ekaterina and Mercy, offering Avalon a hesitant but polite dip of his head.

Mercy points to Tenzin in agreement.

“Just saying… Some people are pissy about it” Avalon tells Mercy with a shrug before telling Tenzin “The more you dread it, the more I’ll stink you”

Ekaterina points to Mercy. “If you must, rub yourself on her. We can hoze her down after.”

Mercy snorts softly. “Ain’ like I even mind it, hits different when you got animal senses. Antiseptic however..”

“It is less the stink I fear, more the nakedness,” Tenzin confesses to Avalon, while he looks up to see a couple of drones circling the area.

Tenzin says “That is a worm.

Mercy says “Kinda cute though.

“This?!” Tenzin is discombobulated, but he’s soon cast back by the worm. Grunting, he rushes back in.

Mercy says “It’s all wiggly an’ doofy lookin’, I love it.

Mercy says “Aww..

Mercy says “Where to now?

The worm had given the drones quite a show. Thrashing and tossing back the hunters, until Avalon, Tenzin, Ekaterina, and Mercy have seen it felled. “Now, we see whose it is,” he upnods the redhead.

Mercy says “Where should I run?

Tenzin struggles to lift all that worm, because he is only so much monk. After a glance around, he points toward the road east. “To the horses, I believe this is the way,” he assumes.

Ekaterina points up to the drones. “Jim neds a raise.”

Tenzin says “Shall we return to where we were earlier?

Tenzin nods agreeingly, an impressed frown up at the following drones.

Tenzin says “Stop 130, no?

“I think I will have to leave once we return to one-thirty.” Ekaterina shares.

Ekaterina says “I will of course head to the base before hand.

Tenzin observes that they are not exactly being pulled back into any sort of fight, even as they’re all back together. “Perhaps we can proceed directly to where we shall contribute then,” he thinks. “After I figure out how to ah, cut this open.”

“All is well, Director,” Tenzin assures Ekaterina as he gets lost inside the large tunnel worm’s squiggly segments. “We have learned much today. I believe we can make this a regular thing.”

“It is a strange one. Maybe it will require just hacking until something expensive falls out.” Ekaterina suggests.

“I am doing the hacking but my knife can only do so much,” Tenzin grimaces, puncturing through with the bladed head of a javelin. It is all he has, and his staff.

After what we can assume was a long time, Tenzin comes out of the innards with — not a single gland or organ, but instead — an entire segment of the large tunnel worm. This big steak is dragged out of there, and the rest is left to the vultures and kobolds.

“And on this day.” Ekaterina opines, “Mercy lost her pet.”

“A sad day,” Tenzin laments but half-heartedly for Mercy. He checks with Ekaterina one last time, as this bounty is bigger than the rest. “Fairefield or Elysia, Director?”

Mercy sinks to her knees on the pavement by the carved up, dead tunnel worm, fists in the air. “Noooooo!”

“I would say push Elysia seeing as we are here.” Ekaterina decides. “The election is closer than Fairefield.”

Tenzin nods firmly to Ekaterina and quietly gives Mercy and Ekaterina a final debriefing, in the midst of the former’s grief.
