(Tenzin’s Bigger Hunting Study)

[Sat Nov 1 2025]

At Mayflower and Franklin/span>afternoon, about 54F(12C) degrees, and there are clear skies. The mist is heaviest At Hawthorn and Darkwater/span>“It is understandable, as I had cast most of the work to the geek store for this,” Tenzin cants his head gently at Ekaterina, folding his red rubber gloves together over his Saitama suit. “There was a string of poses, no?” he muses at Mercy, checking out her wig. “What is this made of…”

“The original magical girl transformation, of course.” Ekaterina tells Mercy before turning to One Punch Monk.

Mercy sighs then thrusts one hand up in the air, fingers splayed, and somewhat-enthusiastically yells, “MOON PRISM POWEEEEER!” but of course nothing happens. Then she clarifies to Ekaterina, “An’ then you know I’d shift except it wouldn’t be so magical or glamorous.”

“Is still worthwhile.” Ekaterina decides. “I almost wish we had Jim recording it for the cristmas cards.”

Speak of the devil. The Temple’s drones come flying into the intersection, already blinking their red lights. Onlookers may see the three below in budget Halloween costumes that might cause peril to the hunting party, should accidents happen. It remains to be seen. The cast is Tenzin as Saitama from One Punch Man, Mercy as Usagi Tsukino from Sailor Moon, and Ekaterina as one of the government soldiers from X-Men. “Ah, they were here,” he realizes, turning to wave. “Jim, did you get that from Red?” he calls out to the cameras.

However, he also prepares to brief the small team.

“I have big gun. I am clearly Terminator.” Ekaterina quips as the drones buzz over head. “Make sure you catch Red doing the transformation pose for the Christmas cards.” the Russian calls up.

Jim, the drone operator, will probably follow Ekaterina’s directive about the Terminator and the Christmas cards. The final results remain to be seen in the December season.

“This afternoon, we shall be making attempts to catch bigger monsters,” Tenzin firmly announces to Mercy and Ekaterina, pulling out his cellphone to begin tracking for notifications. “We will want our movements efficient, precise, and ah, impressive for the Vanguard to see. This may attract some support for our projects.”

Mercy readies her crossbow after that, tactical Sailor Moon ready for combat.

Tenzin leads the group briefly to the nearby encampment, currently half-ruined due to some recent disturbances. More on that another time, but supplies are borrowed for the eventual exhausting hunt to come. Once they return to the intersection, the monk asks Ekaterina and Mercy, “Are there any questions before we begin?”

Mercy says “I’m jus’ gonna shoot stuff an’ enjoy myself.

“I think I have no questions.” Ekaterina responds to Tenzin’s question. “Hunt and keep the streets of Killgrove free of unwanted invading things.”

“And I shall be relying on the drones to capture anything notable about the large monsters, for us to keep on file,” Tenzin decides for himself, with a sure nod at Mercy and then at Ekaterina. “Let us start looking, then.”

Mercy says “Sailor scouts, move out.

“I knew I should have come as Sailer Saturn.” Ekaterina opines, saluting Mercy.

“Perhaps I should have come as Captain Planet, because of the ah, planet theme,” Tenzin snaps his fingers as he realizes.

“Is a shame there are only three of us. We could have come as ninja turtles.” Ekaterina shrugs.

“Ah yes, four and the teacher rat,” Tenzin remembers, checking his phone every so often for a ping. “Perhaps someday, we will have another who would be keen on joining us.”

Mercy says “We gotta try recruitin’ or somethin’. Somehow.

Mercy says “I’ll try an’ think of who might be a good fit from the names I do know.

Tenzin agrees with a deep nod at Ekaterina.

Mercy tuts at Ekaterina and touches a few fingers to her chest coyly. “Ma’am please, we in public.”

“This only works if you blush with a big chibi head.” Ekaterina smirks.

“Chibi?” Tenzin cluelessly wonders. He begins to walk with the group to see if they might be able to spot something this close to the town border.

Ekaterina says, checking her phone, “I do wonder what happened to the dhampir and Nadav.

Mercy puts her hands on her cheeks instead and turns her head away like she’s blushing furiously. “Baka!”

Tenzin cackles much too loudly at Mercy, nearly stumbling on his footing.

Tenzin turns to Ekaterina for a second, asking, “Dhampir? Ah, the one who was noisy for a while and was ah, very attached to the other one.”

Mercy says “Whas’ a dhamper again?

“Nani!” is Ekaterina’s response to Mercy’s pantomime. “Oh you are so funny, kohai.”

“Da, this one.” Ekaterina agrees with Tenzin.

Ekaterina says, waving a hand, “More like half-vampire blood drinker, da. Like Blade.

Mercy wrinkles her nose. “Ain’ like the smell of ’em regardless.”

“I thought it was merely the Arabic word, but now I am seeing I must do a refresher course on blood drinkers,” Tenzin figures, drawing his rubber glove down his face as he checks out the nearby boneyard. “I had been avoiding those because of the calling of them ‘sippies’.”

Deadpan, Ekaterina adds, “If I were to admit that I were able to stomach those bad books, I would say that those were not vampires, they were all hebophiles, that those were not werewolves but skinshifters, and that Edward was too much of a little bitch to be datable material, even if I were straight.”

Following Tenzin and Mercy into the boneyard, Ekaterina snorts a laugh at the name ‘sippie’. “That is embarrassing for them.”

Tenzin turns a puzzled glance from Mercy to Ekaterina, asking, “Who is Edward? Ah, did he write this book?”

Mercy groans. “Ain’ remind me ’bout the ‘sippies’ shit. Embarrassin’ is puttin’ it lightly.”

“Be thankful you do not know.” Ekaterina dryly quips back to Tenzin. “The book was written by middle aged thirsty woman with necrophilia complex and for some reason, crystals and glitter. Edward is the,” and here she makes air quotes, “Vampire love interest.”

One Punch Monk treads carefully over gargantuan bones, careful not to crack any skulls. He stays with the three on the perimeter, shielding his eyes to see as far in as he can. This one only has mortal eyes, so there is much he does not see.

Tenzin grimaces at Ekaterina, surmising without a doubt, “Ah, so the author lives in New Haven.”

Mercy pauses, then exclaims, “I ain’ read it! Jus’- know of it.”

Mercy then blurts out a snorty laugh when she catches Tenzin’s dry comment.

Mercy laughs even harder now.

“This would make sense, da.” Ekaterina agrees to Tenzin’s question.

Her rifle is raised as she follows Tenzin and Mercy through the boneyard, scanning the area as she moves.

Mercy ahems and quiets down. “Dang, thas’ a shame.”

Tenzin muses in thought when Mercy’s laugh rises all the higher. “Someone like her could have written it,” he guesses. “Perhaps it was her.”

Ekaterina says “My X very much liked this shit.

Tenzin forms an X with his fingers and keeps moving for the other intersection.

Ekaterina nods in solemn agreement with Mercy.

Mercy glances at the sign.

“They have no howling signs.” Ekaterina muses, also glancing to the sign.

Mercy says “M’gonna awoo in their face right before I whack me fist into it.

Mercy clears her throat, “MY fist. I need more caffeine.”

“This is a steep penalty,” Tenzin opines, pondering over the sign and its demands.

Mercy says “Ain’ able to fine me ‘less they catch me first.

“Discount Sailer Moon is hard to locate in Haven.” Ekaterina agrees. “I have at least three a week in the shop. Also Bronies and one man who always wears a Squirtle onesie to play D-and-D.”

Mercy scoffs quietly. “Ayeah, got that righ’.”

Mercy says “oh.

Mercy says “Les’ go get it!

Tenzin says “Let us go.

Mercy holds her crossbow up high to ready herself for another magical girl transformation sequence, eyes peeled.

Not too far from where they had been patrolling, Tenzin, Mercy, and Ekaterina receive the reports on their devices. The monk makes haste to the cemetery, a fitting location for a Halloween monster. But what manner of beast is it?

Tenzin takes out a red handkerchief from his pouch, with a coiled rope and a javelin’s head attached to the end of it. He stays close to Ekaterina and Mercy, disappointing viewers everywhere by how he does not seem about to stick to his fists.

Ekaterina readies her rifle, fitting the bayonette blade to the underslung port. “Interesting.” she comments. “I wonder what this will end up being.”

Mercy says “Oh shit, fire moth!

Mercy starts rushing for the nearest cover, head low and Sailor Moon pigtails flying all around her haphazardly.

Ekaterina sees the insect, curses in quickfire Russian, fires at the shit, then lays a laser sight on it before getting sumerily burned.

Tenzin gets shot at by a giant moth from Hell, his armor singed and only just protecting his rental costume. Although he makes it to cover, he isn’t recovering as fast as he’d like. “We will need to get up close!” he calls out.

Mercy just gets launched back into a clattering tumble, wig askew by the time she gets back up to her feet.

Closing the gap, Ekaterina runs as the moth throws a ball of fire at Mercy, a knife ready to throw.

Mercy says “What it- oh, it’s dead.

Mercy adjusts her wig.

“Anti climactic, but better it dead than not.” Ekaterina calls over to Mercy as she makes her way toward the corpse.

The large hellfire moth flaps its eight-foot wingspan rapidly with a blazing heat seeking to sear. Quick and decisive coordination between Ekaterina, Mercy, and Tenzin see it downed quickly. “It is!” he calls out to the others, giving the hot insect a whack on the antennae. Throwing knives rip into its wings, and an arrow creates a hole. It lies dead before them, charring the soil.

Tenzin takes a look around the area to sight the nearest road. “Let us meet back at 84.”

Ekaterina says “Let us leave then.

“This could have been worse. That hit less hard than the normal ones.” Ekaterina points out, still smoking from the fire impact as she butchers the corpse.

Mercy says “Not as cute as the worm.

The drones follow Tenzin, Ekaterina, and Mercy back to the original starting location, stop 84. A giant hellfire moth takes up space here, blocking traffic, as the Russian sets to butchering. One Punch Monk is content to watch, but he as well checks his phone for potential other notifiers. “I noticed this as well,” he agrees with Ekaterina. “It looks like more of its power has ah, been channeled into keeping pests like us at bay. Perhaps we can see close videos of Red being blown back by the wing flapping?”

“Da, but we have Sailer Moon with us and she blushes so prettily. There is no measuring up to such girlish sweetness.” Ekaterina deadpans, knife flashing.

Mercy furrows her brow and aims a squinty-eyed look over at the One Punch Man who might be able to get several times punched. “Ain’ put that out on social media, my reputation gonna be ruined.”

Mercy furrows her brow and aims a squinty-eyed look over at the One Punch Man who might be about to get several times punched. “Ain’ put that out on social media, my reputation gonna be ruined.” – FIX

“Do put this out on social media.” Ekaterina counters, addressing Tenzin.

Turning to the drone, Ekaterina calls out to it, “Have filters and closeups made of the girlish blushing from Sailer Red, Jim.”

Teasingly, Ekaterina raises her knife from the remains of the moth as she extracts a scale. “We own your media cred now.” she informs Mercy.

“With the baka, with the baka,” Tenzin mischievously crows to the drones, throwing his head back and laughing. “I just do not know if this will get us more recruits or not. Or more of the wrong kinds of recruits, like ah, the ones that call things ‘sippies’.” He stands by the dead insect’s remains and directs traffic around it as a caped crusader.

“I am happy to have cute anime girls around the base.” Ekaterina decides with a smirk. “This would make a nice change to most of the staff.”

Ekaterina says “No cat girls however. There is a stigma.

“UGH.” Mercy chimes in finally after listening to the two talk over the matter of recruits. “No anime girls, ‘less they like, insanely proactive an’ helpful then maybe. Otherwise pass.”

Mercy says “Wish we could go take on that little toy monster they keep reportin’.

“Helpful anime girls.” Ekaterina agrees with Mercy, correcting herself as she goes. “Actively helpful, not just otaku with fondness for harem anime or hentai.”

“So difficult to find actively helpful people to begin with,” Tenzin distractedly mutters over a checking of another GPS ping on his phone. “It seems this monster is in Highgate. But we are likely too small a group to take it down, no?”

“We could try, but there is no assurance that it is weak enough.” Ekaterina supposes to Mercy and Tenzin. “We should not fear it, but be proactively causious of it.”

Mercy hums thoughtfully. “Think if we had like, one or two extra people it’d be doable. Know Connie an’ Avalon took down that water zombie thing in the moat jus’ the two of ’em, but ain’ know how weak it were an’ they had the advantage of bein’ on land.”

Mercy says “Ain’ wanna get one-shot dropped into the afterlife.

Tenzin says “Did we all get this?

Mercy says “Aw shit! Ayeah, did.

“I would rather not die, but if this is what is needed to protect humanity, is a good way to die.” Ekaterina notes. “Another creature.”

Ekaterina says “Da.

Tenzin says “Let us proceed.

Mercy squints to the southwest, reaching back for her crossbow again.

Mercy says “Think I see somethin’ way off down there, but ain’ sure what.

Once more the phone pings and Ekaterina, Tenzin and Mercy are called to hunt something big. “Let us see what we are faced with this time.”

“Good eyes.”

There is much to be recorded, and the drones quickly follow Tenzin, Ekaterina, and Mercy. In the distance, the site of the other graveyard where they had their earlier fight can be glimpsed. The monk readies his weapons, glancing around their immediate surroundings.

Mercy levels a flat, mirror-shady look on Preston upon his arrival.

There’s a tilting of his head at Mercy, “What?” Preston asks, slinging his rifle from over his chest.

“Nothin’.” Mercy states unconvincingly and turns her head away with enough force to make her synthetic wigtails flail stiffly in the air.

“Welcome to the party.” Ekaterina greets Preston

Tenzin edges a look over Preston, at his outfit, and turns back to the space where they may expect none other than a giant lindworm thrashing through.

Mercy says “Eeeee it’s another cute one!

Ekaterina says “You have a problem, Red.

Tenzin says “More like one big, wriggly problem.

Mercy says “I wish! I promise I’d take care of it.

Ekaterina says “We love you anyway.

Mercy says “Someone oughta.

One Punch Monk rushes out of cover when Ekaterina closes in on the worm, and they are joined by Mercy as the drones zoom in on the giant lindworm. It lifts its great girth and sweeps the ground in a circle, cleaving the three back! Tenzin tumbles and finds footing.

“Little bitch.” Ekaterina stabs the worm again. “Why me. Red is the one who loves you. I think you are hideous little bastard.”

Mercy is a spinning wheel of upskirt shots and shame each time she gets hurled back.

Preston has to dodge raking claws, grunting as he does so. There’s a lot of talk around him, but his focus is on that creature in front of him. “Can patch you up as well,” Preston calls out, watching Ekaterina.

Tenzin pushes back in towards the lindworm, spinning his staff to add to the force of his blow. Again, the worm thrashes and sweeps them back. “Call out if you need a triage!” he shouts.

Producing another weapon, Ekaterina readies to throw it at the lindworm.

Ekaterina says “Nicely done, all.

Mercy says “Ayeah, good shit.

Preston scans the distance, looking around. “The fuck?” he asks, slowly reloading his rifle.

Tenzin inclines his head as he determines the haul to be his. Over a shoulder it goes.

Mercy says “Which way?

Mercy says “On it then!

Tenzin says “Ah, it is an alley.

Tenzin says “Somewhere out of here is the road, regardless.

Mercy says “Two in a day, nice.

“Da.” Ekaterina agrees. “Is nice.”

“We are making good progress today, though I wish Red would be the one to butcher this instead,” Tenzin sighs to Ekaterina and Mercy as he digs into the lindworm with his meager blade. There is a big mess that spills, joining the hacked up insect from earlier. “If we are lucky, we may be able to do a last one. But I am unsure if luck favors us still.”

Ekaterina says “Sailer Red must not get her completely practicle uniform bloody. Is bad look for a heroin to get blood on her, da.

Mercy ahems and corrects Ekaterina gently but in firm tone, “M’sailor FULL MOON, thank you.”

Tenzin says “But if her name is Sailor Red, does that not mean her costume does need to be… red?

“She has red thigh high shit kicker boots.” Ekaterina notes to Tenzin. “And bows.”

Mercy points to Ekaterina.

Tenzin digs out a poison gland that’s as large as a pouch, smooth and slippery. “Not Sailor Iron Moon?” he jokes at Mercy, wagging his brows. Broader, he grins at Ekaterina to say, “Aha. This is something I would like to see.”

Mercy pauses at that alternative suggestion. “.. Thas’ good actually, I’ll keep it on standby fer the day I ever go hard with the Lodge again.”

“I do not think the Lodge has been going hard for a long time,” Tenzin cannot help but express, rubbing at his forehead.

Mercy says “I mean I tried initially, least as hard as I knew how at the time.

“The lodge has been going very hard.” Ekaterina counters with a laugh. “King leads it, da. All rumours say he has big harem.”

Tenzin snaps a look at the drones and waves one off, “Jim! Remove that!”

“Maybe,” Ekaterina suggests with no actual intention towards it at all, “The Temple should all get bitten and take over the Lodge.”

Mercy can’t decide whether to laugh or groan so she kind of does both at the same time. It’s a weird sound.

It is an awkward silence to follow what Ekaterina so nonchalantly says. Silence from Tenzin, that is. “That would leave… everyone to be Demolishers, would it not?” he quietly says.

Mercy peers at Ekaterina and audibly chomps her teeth twice in response.

“It is not happening in any case.” Ekaterina points out. “This is not who we are, and should not be.”

“I already have enough scars. I am running out of skin.” Ekaterina likewise points out.

Mercy says “Ayeah, kinda feelin’ like I’m slowly becomin’ more scar tissue than regular skin now.

“I do respect that both the Lodge and the Temple are aligned to the ways of discipline and self-control,” Tenzin has to say on that, glancing at his phone that does not light up. “Should there come a time when we are ah, forced out of the Temple for some reason…” He holds a pause on that, meaningfully. “It would be the likely fallback.”

Mercy leans in closer to Tenzin with a faint, but nonetheless devilish smirk. “Bet Kaya’d be pleased as punch to see you hauntin’ our base again.”

“My own would likely be the Order.” Ekaterina supposes. “I an liberal as is.”

Turning from Tenzin to Mercy, Ekaterina suggests, “One day we should compare. It is game we played in basic training. Those who had the fewest had to take the cold shower.”

Tenzin’s sun-bronzed complexion ruddies up all the way to his ears. He tsks at Mercy with a balled fist, “Ah, do not mention me to her!” The monk turns soon to Ekaterina, curiously, but soon a rat comes upon them.

Tenzin clasps his hands together, announcing, “I suppose ah, we should call it the end of today’s hunts?”

“I used to lose.” Ekaterina notes to Mercy. “These days, I have half a missing ass. I may win.”

Mercy says “Could, definitely been a productive day.
