(Matias’s Windermere Meet and Greet)
[Thu Nov 13 2025]
in the Windermere Student Union Rec Room
44Set beneath a vaulted stone ceiling with gothic grey-matte 42chandeliers casting cool azure light below upon the slate flooring, the rec room balances leisure with architectural weight; the room open and unfussy, designed for movement and interaction without compromising the buildings historic character.
44 A full-size pool table sits at the center, its walnut frame and azure felt echoing the school 42colors. To the west, a dart board is mounted within a recessed brick niche, framed in blackened steel for safety and contrast. A ping pong table with a matte black surface and brushed metal legs anchors the southern end. A foosball table in dark oak and steel occupies the eastern space, by the arch revealing a row of vending machines for late night snacking.
It is about 60/i/span>15C) degrees. The mist is heaviest At King and Sidney/span>“Miss incident and a hot tea competition.” Matias informs Liri while looking down at his watch and saying, “I believe some other faculty should be making appearances shortly.”
Since nobody said they wanted to play, Owen makes his way over to the dartboard, and begins to pick up a dart – looking to play.
Liri purses her lips, brows rising as she asks, “…Hot tea? Burns?” but her gaze skims off him to Helen as she enters, the tiny wolf tilting her head, very canine, to look at her.
Kaelyn nods to Matias with a long drawn out sigh, “Yes and it shouldn’t.” A huff, “Not that I have room to speak about poorly timed-” She shakes her head letting it lie. “Yeah, a game might be nice.” She moves over to the darts with a little hum, raising a hand in greeting to Helen as the woman enters. Oh, and Teagan too.
Helen steps into the bookstore area, fluttering a wave in general towards the group gathering. She looks towards Liri curiously as well and offers a smile, “Evening, everyone.” She steps in deeper now and says, “Just made it from something else I was doing, but glad to see people arriving. I’m sure we’ll get more in a bit.”
Owen strolls up to the dartboard, and positions himself. Taking aim, careful aim – and he nails a bullseye! “Woo!” He cheers for himself, looking pretty damn pleased. Turning around now, he waves to Darrow and Helen, “Hi!”
Liri beams at Darrow, saying to him from across the room, where she’s bothering Matias, “Hey, you!”
Matias looks a little pale and lethargic while standing near a stage which has been setup and spies Darrow to which he lifts a hand and says, “Mister Chandler-Wei, I do not believe you have attended one of my classes yet. Good evening.” and then a nod for Teagan and Casey respectively.
Darrow drifts into the rec room and lifts a hand in a wave to Owen and then drifts toward Liri and Matias, giving both a little wave as well. “Mr. Alejandro,” he says in greeting. “Not yet, but hoping to fix that in the not too distant future. Nice to meet you.”
Teagan makes her way in, yawning absently as she meanders her way through the bookstore to the rec room. She has a bit of extra gear with her, but that’s perfectly normal. Right? Everyone wears a sword and bow around. (Well, not everyone, but some certainly do in this city.) She lifts a hand for greeting to those she recognizes, but makes her way over to Matias, stopping to say something quietly to him once by his side.
After Owen’s perfect bullseye throw, that he earned through skill and not luck at all, he looks to toss another one. Aiming, and getting ready.
Casey makes her way in with a guitar case slung over her shoulder. She scans the gathering from the entry. Most faces that she sees are not met with any form of recognition until she notices Matias and Helen, both of whom get a smile from her and she approaches the former. “Guess I’m not that late.”
Matias looks down to Teagan as she approaches his side and remarks in a wearied baritone, “After the mist incident they were cracked. I had them sent to be repaired.” and then looks over to Owen’s perfects bullseye and then another throw… while that happens he says to Casey , “Not terribly no, did I already pay?” he asks absently clearly under the influence of painkillers at the moment.
Helen waves towards Casey when the woman comes inside, “Don’t think so!” She walks over to lean against the nearby wall now, watching the others.
Liri wraps an arm around Darrow’s middle, leaning into him lightly. “I’m glad to see you, it’s been forever,” she teases him, happy to be distracted.
Matias is standing in front of the stage while the area actually manages to get crowded, what a joyous meeting of collegiate life.
Obadiah comes in and folds his sunglasses closed. Splattered in blood and looking like he just crawled out of the of the mists, because, given what he is wearing he probably did. “Don’t worry. Order is here.”
At Owen’s next throw, he sets up his aim, but, he’s clearly not at all very skilled with playing darts. Looking to release it, his fingers kind of forget to let go of the thing, and instead on the release, he kind of just drops that dart and it falls…. Falls… and falls, stabbing him in the leg.
“Ow!” Owen calls out, scrambling to pluck the dart from his leg.
“No you didn’t.” Casey responds to Matias with a shrug of her narrow shoulders. She glances to Obadiah at his statement and she looks amused as she tells the man, “I feel safer already.”
Darrow slips an arm around Liri’s shoulders and leans back in against her. “Easily forever and a half,” he agrees with a little crooked smile down at her. Then he glances over toward Owen and winces. “You okay over there? Need a medic? Not that I’m a medic but.. there’s gotta be first aid around here somewhere..”
Kaelyn keeps her hands tucked behind her back, mostly just listening to what was happening. She finishes her great trek to the dart board having not gotten distracted during it. Something that is less of a problem as Owen just stabs himself in the leg. Pursing her lips she moves closer. “Hey, careful.” Too late for that.
“You need backup glasses,” Teagan tells Matias, but adds in a more gentle tone: “If you need anything, let me know. Like a chair?” But with that offer, she looks up at Obadiah’s announcement and a broad smile crosses her features as she moves to meet him, tucking an arm into a… well, there’s raids later, so she spends about half a second before opting not to be precious about it and just links an arm through his.
Matias sends off something on his phone and then slowly pockets it with a sleepy nod for Casey before hearing Owen make some noise about a dart injury. “Ouch.” he echoes and then finally about twenty minutes fater the start of the shindig meetup begins making his way to a chair and plops down with a relieved sigh. “Vending machine past this room if anyone needs snacks or drinks, cafeteria is open, fancy stuff is next door at inkwell. I will be around for the next hour and some change and Casey will be performing. Feel free to hangout, play games, if anyone has class or lesson questions Helen and I are here for that too.”
“Angelface, please don’t get hurt, I’m fresh out of bandages,” Liri calls to Owen with all the warmth and sweetness she can manage.
When she glances up at Darrow, she admits, “I get distracted.” Fingers toy with the tag at her throat, eyes skimming the room, pausing here and there, but they drift back to him.
Owen plucks that dart out of his leg, and looks at it. Maybe there’s some blood on the tip, but he tries to casually wipe it off on his pants. “Oh, yeah! I’m.. definitely totally fine. Uh-huh!” But he’s soon offering that dart towards Kaelyn. “You wanna play?”
Casey moves to the edge of the stage to lay out her guitar case and start unlatching it. At Matias’s announcement she glances towards Helen and ask with interest, “Oh you teach here or something?”
“Next lesson I am teaching will be. Off world. Where is it and why bother going.” Matias add belatedly while cozying up in fancy wooden chair clearly stolen from another room in the property and slouching with a drug hazed look about him.
“I am available for questions, will see if I can answer them at least,” Helen says to everyone as she lingers nearby. She does find herself a spot to sit down as well, leaning back into a chair and looking over to Casey, “Something like that, yes.”
Obadiah links arms with Teagan when she offers and then smiles at Casey, winking at her. “Good. I am to please,” from how he moves, the blood isn’t likely his. Probably.
“And, I’m fine!” Owen calls to Darrow and Liri both, turning around to flash them both a double thumbs up and a grin.
Kaelyn looks none to convinced as she takes the dart from Owen. The blood didn’t seem to bother her none, though she tucks the dart into her pocket as she scans the room for the promised medical supplies. “Wait here.” Leaving towards the cafeteria, she returns with some napkins, “Put pressure on it. If its not too bad could probably just put some neosporain and a bandaid.”
Helen looks up from her phone and smiles some, looking over towards Casey, “Finally get to see you truly perform, though. I swear, the club is always in the mists.” She sits up in her seat now, fixing her posture, looking over across some of the others present.
“I’m fine, promise!” Owen assures Kaelyn, “Just a silly mistake. It’s not bad.” It doesn’t seem like there’s blood dripping down his leg or anything, just a small dart wound.
Casey collects her guitar from the case and slings it about her neck by the strap so that it hangs while she takes some time to tune it by ear. Briefly she smiles at Helen and tells her, “It’s not my usual style, Can’t exactly get loud and almost naked here.” she grins then at the last part then she looks towards Matias, “Any reason I shouldn’t start?”
“Mhmn,” Darrow says to Liri when she mentions getting distracted. He smiles a little at the name of the class and says to Matias “Sounds like fun. Looking forward to that one.” And it sounds like he’s genuinely interested. Then he asks, “Uh, so.. who is everyone? This being the meet part of the greet, I guess?”
Matias sits up a little and looks to the right and the left before zeroing in on Casey with a suspicious squint. “Uh… No go for it… If possibly something peppy. I am on a pretty high dose of painkillers, trying to stay awake.” he informs the musician while sniffling and blinking a few times in rapid succession.
Obadiah chuckles a little at whatever is whispered to him and looks around before nodding, “I suppose that could be arranged.” He squints slightly, then leans in to whisper something himself
Kaelyn still looks unconvinced but nods, retrieving the dart. “Don’t blame me if it needs to be chopped off.” The tone of voice was of solemn seriousness, though a little smile played at her lips. Holding it in her fingers she squinted at the board with a hum preparing to embarrass herself.
“At least give us something to a close approximation, so I can know what to expect in the future,” Helen says to Casey as she looks towards the stage now, smiling.
Owen watches Kaelyn, stepping away from the board. “C’mon!”
Casey moves onto the stage to position herself behind the microphone. She adjust it so it’s midway between her chin and the top of the guitar that hangs from her neck. She clears her throat to test the sound then lets the room know, “Anyone here remember the last time I played for Windermere?” her eyes scan the crowd after saying this. She gives her guitar a quick strum to ensure it sounds crisp and clear to her own ears. “If you do, you can help me sing this song.”
Darrow nods to Liri and smiles a little appreciatively, “Thanks. Yeah, I think I’ve met everybody else at this point.”
“Fair, fair,” Teagan admits to Obadiah, considering those gathered. “I know… all but those two-” she gestures toward Liri and Darrow’s “I’ve seen them around, but I don’t know their names. So I guess if there’s anyone else let me know and I can try to make introductions?”
Obadiah waves his hand mostly to Darrow, “Obie Mercer.”
As Kaelyn makes her dart throw, and Casey begins to ready herself to play, Owen glances towards the stage, and soon he’s moving off to where the rest of the crowd is to join in the concert, sliding himself somewhere next to Liri.
Kaelyn waves the dart back and forth with a look of concentration. She was over thinking it now. This was fine. It was great. The dart flew and its aim was not true. Instead it landed on the inner ring of six. “It’s a start.”
Liri perks up at the gesture, calling to Teagan, “Liri Ransom, sorry, I thought I’d given you my name when we snuggled up in the changing room.” There’s a playful glint to her smirk.
Kaelyn nods leaving the dart where it lay, ready for the next game.
“I got Peri and Owen’s,” Teagan replies to Liri, “But you left before you gave me yours.” The teasing… does not seem to phase her! But you’ve been naked in one changing room with a crowd, you’ve been naked in them all. Or something along those lines. She nods toward Owen as he joins the gathering nearer the stage. “That’s Owen,” she offers for Obadiah’s benefit.
Obadiah motions towards Owen then as well, “Obie. I don’t think we have met.” Then his phone beeps, and he looks at his phone and arches his eyebrow before sliding the phone away.
“Darrow Chandler-Wei,” Darrow introduces himself to the others in the room with a little loft of his hand in a casual wave. “Nice to meet you all. Those I haven’t met yet.”
Casey begins to play her guitar, strumming with her fingers rather than with a pick. She sticks to some simple jaunty chords with a quick beat to them. The femmes foot taps on the wooden stage to keep her timing. With a grin to the crowd she leans forward towards the mic to sing in a crisp, feminine voice
“I sit in the front row, legs crossed tight”
“You say pay attention, but I dont hear a thing”
“Red pen in hand, all rules, no fun”
“But I see you notice when I chew my gum”
The femme leans back to play some more guitar between verses, she glances down to her fingers to make sure she’s positioned them properly then she leans in again to sing some more.
“You write on the board, I write your name”
“In the corner of my notes with a heart and flame”
“I bat my eyelashes and give you looks”
“But you still grade me like you hate me”
As she’s singing she emphasizes batting her eyelashes, her tone playful.
Helen scoots herself closer to the group now preparing to watch Casey on stage. She keeps an easy lean in her chair, looking sleepy herself, but with those features being cleared out somewhat by the excitement in her eyes at being able to look up and see Casey about to perform. She glances over towards Liri and says, “I’m Helen, by the way. I don’t think we have met, yet, but it is nice to meet you.”
Owen waves to Obadiah, “Hello, Owen!” Looking over towards Kaelyn briefly. “Did you get a good hit?” But as soon as Casey starts singing, he turns towards the stage, paying attention.
Owen waves to Obadiah, “Hello, I’m Owen!” Looking over towards Kaelyn briefly. “Did you get a good hit?” But as soon as Casey starts singing, he turns towards the stage, paying attention. (fix)
“Oh, right, I was about three seconds from turning into a pumpkin,” Liri says to Teagan, a few nods bobbled. She glances at her phone, then that smirk of pure mischief is given to Owen. “This is Darrow,” she says, gesturing to the man she’s curled into.
When Helen greets her, the wolf looks her up and down, assessing more than judgemental, then she gives a firm nod.
Matias lifts a hand to briefly facepalm at Casey’s song and laugh hoarsely
Kaelyn tucks her hands in pocket looking back to where the dart was still stuck in the six space. “Yep!” She lies to Owen with a cheeky grin. “Think I could go pro.” The song starts and her eyes are drawn away, head tilting as she took in the lyrics.
“I think I could too!” Owen chirps, trying not to be too loud. “Except maybe not in darts..” Looking towards Darrow he grins, “Maybe bowling though. I did absolutely hustle Darrow here.”
Obadiah gives Darrow and Owen both a wave of his hand in greeting though his eyes to scan about the room occasionally. Liri is given an nod of recognition before he turns back to Teagan, “I mentioned we got Vale out right? She is resting comfortably.”
Grinning, Casey’s catches a glimpse of Matias’s in the crowd facepalming and this just seems to encourage her vibrant energy as she moves on to the next verse, singing it to him for the first half.
“Mr. Teacher, Mr Teacher”
“Give me detention, say my name like it’s a bad suggestion”
“Ive been bad, and I want to pass”
“So come and put me to the test”
With a rapid strum of her guitar the femme breaks into the chorus with her mouth against the microphone for maximum volume
“Mr. Teacher, Mr Teacher”
“Give me extra credit please”
“I dont need an A, I just want a D.”
“Ill be your favorite student,”
“Make me a teachers pet, Oh! Mr Teacher please!”
“Nice to meet you, Darrow,” Teagan calls, trying to keep a level that’s not too loud over the music, but still audible. “Saw you in class recently, but didn’t have a chance to catch your name.” She nods to Obadiah, then, glancing sidelong at him. “You did, when I texted you earlier. I’ll have to check in on her.” She does seem amused by the song, however: and Matias’ reaction to it.
Darrow smirks over at Owen when he mentions the bowling hustle, “He kicked my ass at axe throwing and then wiped the lanes with me at bowling immediately after. It was a bloodbath.”
“Heya, Teagan,” Darrow says to her with a grin. “Yeah, I didn’t get anyone’s names at class really. But that’s okay, that’s what this is for, right?”
Kaelyn laughs at that, “I don’t know. You hit two for two.” She dares to draw a little closer, “Haven’t been bowling in ages, but good to know not to bet against him.” Her eyes dart to the stage and her head shakes slowly.
“Last night and now tonight, Windermere faculty respectability in the dumps.” Matias laments while drug hazed and muttering in his baritone of a voice. Even as Casey goes into the chorus there is a look out over the students as at least they begin chattering. One hand grops for his phone… in his pant pocket… his hand is on his hips outside the pocket. He’s still trying to get it. It is like a full thirty seconds before he looks down and corrects, slipping his hand into the pocket to fish it out.
Obadiah says, over the top of rock music, “To be fair I didnt see the Wyvern at first. I thought it was just a golem“
Obadiah chuckles and shakes his head as he drops his hand away from his radio button then looks to Teagan, “I am fine. I am just going to enjoy the song though for a minute.
Darrow glances over to Liri and both brows lift a little bit, but he doesn’t say anything in response, just looks curious. He does grin at the song that Casey is playing on stage though and kind of sways along with it, even if he doesn’t know the words.
“It is,” Teagan agrees with a nod to Darrow. “Glad to see the turnout for it, too. Be nice if a few more of the faculty were around, but…” She gives a ‘what can you do’ shrug. There’s a small nod for Obadiah and she gives him a pat on his arm. “You do that, I’m going to check on sleepyhead over there.” By sleepyhead, she seems to mean Matias, crossing the floor to stand by his chair. “Hey, need a coffee or something?”
“Hm, oh yes thank you Miss Tawgan.” Matias says with a slur and then a clearing of his throat. “Lawson.”
Teagan gives Matias a nearly patronizing pat on the shoulder and steps away briefly for the cafeteria.
Helen laughs softly at some of Casey’s lyrics, cheering as well after looking away from her phone.
Rocks out acoustically without an amp to provide much power to her guitar. Casey’s fingers strum hard and fast to keep up with the fast tempo of the song. Gazing out into the crowd she leads into another playful verse.
“I’m not a cheerleader, but I’ll wear the skirt”
“The whole football team knows my name”
“But what I really like, is when you say..”
“Pay Attention! Ms Morgan!”
She strums all the strings on her guitar hard then flattens her hands to stop the sound they produce. In the lingering silence she leans in close to the mic to make a hushed whisper of her next line “@line
“Mr. Teacher, Mr Teacher”
“Give me extra credit please”
then she leans back, resuming her guitar playing with force as she picks up the sound of her voice to a near shout.
“I dont need an A, I just want a D.”
“Please Mr Teacher. Just give me a D!”
“I’m begging please. Teacher. I just want that D.” After the last syllable is sung the femme slaps her palm over the strings of her guitar to silence very suddenly. She’s left grinning with amusement and she looks to Matias for a reaction
Helen chuckles softly as she watches the performance on stage, “Those are pretty funny lyrics.”

Owen gets into the music, clapping for the music starting to bob a little, headbanging – just a tad. Not going all the way crazy though. “Woooooo!” Owen shouts after the song is finished. “Good song!”
Matias is sitting heavily in a wooden chair while most others are standing. There seems to be some faceless student employees loitering about and not doing their minimum wage jobs, listening in on Casey’s performance. While Casey finishes or pauses her song, the drug addled Latino Professor declares, “C+ , points off for being lewd. Miss… Casey.” and then he mutters much less loudly to himself, “What even is her last name.”
makes her way back in for the end of the song, snorting to herself slightly as she stops by Matias’ chair once again with a mug of the terribly bitter (but strong) coffee they serve in the cafeteria. “Here you go,” Teagan says, but does keep a good hold of it until she’s certain the drugged latino won’t spill it on himself.
Matias looks down at his phone and within a few moments and tapping it a very sketchy looking person in a trench coat and sun glasses inside can be seen in the back of the room… Apparently someone is wildly misusing society or faction resources while on painkillers. The sketchy agent even takes a little snap of Casey with their cellphone and then his phone buzzes and he declares, “Morgan… Like the song.” then looks up to Teagan, “Oh thank you.” he accepts the coffee and slowly sips it.
Darrow laughs and applauds the song as Casey winds it to a close, giving her a loud whistle of appreciation.
Kaelyn cheers as the song ends, joining in with the crowd. A smiled played on her lips even as she shook her head. It was fun to listen to.
Now, Owen gets into it, just a bit more. “ENCORE!” He shouts, trying to hype the crowd up to join in.
“I think I might get in trouble if I play anything more ‘exciting’ than that.” Casey says into the microphone, breathing a bit heavy from the effort of singing. “Not that I mind detention.” she gives Matias a wink from the stage then at Owen’s encouragement she taps on the side of her guitar. “What do we think, should I risk it?!”
“Yes, like the song,” Teagan says with a snort as she glances toward the scout, shaking her head slightly. Once satisfied he’s not going to end up with a third major injury in less than two days from too-hot coffee, she murmurs something to Matias before stepping away to return to Obadiah’s side, waiting to see what the next song is.
“Encore! Encore!” Darrow cheers along with Owen, happy to join in and call for another song. He calls out, “Risk it!”
“RISK IT! RISK IT! RISK IT!” Owen chants.
Matias is to busy sipping coffee without burning himself to comment.
“Why not?” Liri calls up to Casey, drawn into her phone, like the worst co-ed stereotype.
Kaelyn chews her lip, staring at her phone with a little frown now. She draws a little bit away from the group to find a wall to lean on.
“Sometimes you just have to take risks!” Helen calls out to Casey from her seat.
Liri adjusts the tightly gathered ribbon she’s calling a dress as she reads a text, batting a brush of lashes at Owen with faux-innocense.
Casey begins to strum her guitar again, she sticks to higher notes to give the song a fast, playful feel as she’s smiling through her black lips into the microphone during her lyrics.
“Shes head cheer, clean shoes, bright smile”
“Daddys card, new phone, fake style”
“Sits up front, plays it sweet”
“But hes texting me under the desk each week”
The femme takes an audible breath into the microphone.
“Lip glossed lies, varsity charm”
“But Ive got piercings, and I bite hard”
“She gets applause for playing nice”
“I’m here honing my skills in detention hall”
Owen’s is co-ed, and he’s on his phone from time to time, but the song starts up again, and he looks to the stage, laughing a little as the singer, does risk it. “Wooooooo! Yeah!!” Owen calls out.
Teagan has settled in back at Obadiah’s side, largely people-watching and listening to the music. She spots Kaelyn’s retreat, pulling out her phone and tapping off a text.
Liri’s hand strays back from her dress to the tag at her throat with the start of the next song, a hint of a grin at the lyrics. She whistles, shrilly.
Casey taps her feet under her to keep rhythm and move her hips with a bit of sway. Her voice’s pitch high and light, keeping with the jaunty theme she’s got going on.
“I dont need pom-poms to get attention”
“I get mine with no permission”
“Shes the dream, Im the regret”
“My number is in the bathroom stall.”
There is a little giggle into the microphone, likely part of the song as she doesn’t miss a beat on the guitar.
“Im not a princess, Im the test”
“The one hes calling when hes stressed”
“Call me trouble, call me a threat”
“But he keeps coming back for extra credit”
Owen’s arms go up as the song continues, phone still in his hand, waving them back and forth in time to the music.
There is a kind of bobbing of the latino’s head while listening to the acoustic performances. Although Matias is up on the stage giving a performance Matias seems to be squinting through the crowd as if trying to find the dreamy prep varsity bubblegum characters from the song like they have to be present in the room. He then spies Lana and makes an *ah* sound, “Miss Thompson of course. Hello” he says in a drug hazed baritone.
Lana smiles buoyantly to Annabelle, offering a little wave as she joins the crowd.

Owen waves towards Lana, “Hi, Miss Thompson!” But keeping his attentions mostly on the stage.
Like a sprinter hearing pop of a gun, Annabelle tackles Lana with a foot raised off the ground in a hug, tearing up. “I-”
Obadiah smiles at Teagan when she returns and and then looks down at his phone, three messages coming in in short order that draws the man’s tired gaze. He taps off a response then looks up smiling at Teagan, “So who is the bleach blonde?
“I have no idea,” Teagan says to Obadiah with a small shrug.
Lana oofs, staggering a bit back as Annabelle jumps her. Heels were not meant for such endeavors and she’s stumbling a bit before she catches herself. “It’s good to see you too Anna.”
“That’s Miss Thompson,” Owen mentions towards Teagan and Obadiah both. “One of the university counselors.
Casey doesn’t let up on the beat and pace, keeping it fast with a pop energy despite the lyrics being rather risque.
“Shes got pearls, the praise and guicci bags”
“Ive got thick thighs in these ripped tights”
“She runs for class President, playing the popular game”
“But my game..is head game, school champion since ’16”
The grin out of the emo-chick on stage could not be wider at this last confession. She scans the crowd, mostly to pay attention to those who seem to be cheering and into the fun of the song.
“Mmhmmm!” Annabelle agrees with a bob of her face, pulling back with a sharp sniffle and pawing at the corners of her eyes to cease her tears. “It’s- it’s REALLY good.”
Having spied the other character from the song Matias looks between Lana who is being glomped by Annabelle and then to Casey and then back again, back and forth… Clearly caught in some deliberation loop of picking between the two.
Lana seems not at all put off or suprised as Annabelle clings to her, giving a gentle little pat on the back, and a smile that speaks of a boundless cheerfulness even in the face of tears stains on her blouse. “Glad I made it too. I’m getting the cobwebs out of my couch a bit.” she says, offering a little finger wave to Matias, then Owen now.
Obadiah holds his phone out to Teagan for a moment then he looks around innocently before looking back to Teagan. “I am ready to go when you are,” he says tiredly, “It’s been a long day of long days.”
Matias offers Lana a crisp thumbs up and then sips his coffee deciding to stare at Casey up on stage after with his head bobbing along.
Without shame, Annabelle picks from a lanyard a pink camera and raises it like a selfie- looking up into the ambushed lens with a less than photogenic expression. “S-say cchheeese, Miss Thom-Thompson.”
Lana reaches into her bag to pluck out an essay; one that she clearly holds very little value for as she offers it to Annabelle “Here hon, dab your eyes with this. And don’t worry if the ink runs or you accidentally light it on fire or something.” she chirps buoyantly.
Reading over what she’s shown, Teagan bites her lip for a moment. She nods, then, to him. “I parked on the other side of the dorms. Just… give me a ride home? I’ll get back to my car later.”
For Casey’s finale the femme stomps her foot on the stage to make it bang and her hand claps on the front of her guitar to make a beat with no strings played.
“Shes yearbook pretty, picture clean”
“Voted most likely to succeed.”
“She could even be the first woman President”
“But I’ll be the next Monica Lewinsky”
To cap off the song, Casey strums her guitar two more times. then she drops her hand from the instrument to let it hang from it’s strap.
Annabelle takes an essay with a crumble of paper, and it joins the shots of the camera.
Annabelle uses a O: a pink 60Instax mini analog camera, pointed right at you! :O: The little pink box hums, and the printslide begins its eldritch work of copying the world it has witnessed
As the song winds down, Owen/span>Lana poses with an effortlessly photogenic posture, smile, and even little waft of blond across her forehead, looking perpetually photoshopped in any bit of camerawork.
Lana calls up to the stage “Great song!” at least the end part that she heard as she quickly turns from the camera to clap.
Kaelyn gives another cheer as the song ends, though her heart doesn’t seem to be exactly in it this time.
With a final, dreadful sniffle, Annabelle drags the paper impotently across her scrunched eyes and takes a wardful step back- still remaining in Lana’s orbit.
“Thank you, I’m Casey Morgan. You can find me on myhaven At Sinner. I’m always available for hired gigs.” Casey shamelessly plugs her brand into the microphone then she steps back and away from it to make her way off stage.
Matias tries to clap but has a cup of coffee and has not figured out how to adjust. As Casey departs the stage he instead uses the coffee mug to make a beckoning gesture, some coffee spilling on the floor.
Owen claps enthusiastically for Casey, “Woo! Good job! I hope you don’t get detention!” A little grin forming on his cheeks at those words.
“It’s a good thing I don’t actually go here.” Casey tells Owen at that, grinning with amusement. She glances towards Matias before she continues with Owen, “I’m not sure if I’ll be hired back here. Thats for sure.”
Owen lets out a little laugh at that, “Yeah, then you’re good,” Owen helpfully suggests, although it’s not like he has the powers to make detention or not. “Just Kidz Bop your songs next time, replace things with like.. doing your homework, then you’ll get hired back.” Owen mentions to Casey.
Darrow grins and says, “Or you’ll be hired back every time. Could go either way.”
Obadiah nods to Teagan and bounces
Matias blinks a few times while looking at his phone and says mostly to himself, “That seems suggestive.” and then tucks his phone into his blazer breast pocket and looks up at Casey.
Lana looks at Casey curiously “Oh she used to work here?” she asks maybe whoever’s around her.
“I think you did great, Casey!” Helen calls out to Casey with a soft laugh, “I mean, the lyrics might offend some people with… stuck-up people, probably, but otherwise I think it was great.”
“I’ll stick to hired gigs for now.” Casey tells Matias with a carefree shrug. “I don’t want to stress myself being creative every week. Especially since it’s an educational institute and I may have to tone down a little too much for my liking.”
“Fair nuff.” Matias slurs while finishing the acid wash coffee from the cafeteria and then looking around the room before settling a half-lidded gaze back on Casey. “Let me know when you want to work again. Might have something for early december in mind.”
Lana looks at Annabelle speculatively for a moment “I forget, are you asleep now or…?” she says with a little bit of confusion.
Annabelle shakes her head rapidly. “I HOPE not..”
Lana claps her hands excitedly, seemingly about to congratulate Annabelle on… Something, but she thinks it better and turns it into another bit of applause for Casey.
Casey bobs her head to Matias to show she was listening then she turns her attention to Helen as she gets closer. “So what do you actually do here?”
Annabelle does a second landing with the crumbled sheet of paper, then without the heart to dispose of it tucks it into her bag.
“I really enjoyed the performance, Casey,” Helen says as she begins to stand up from her seat, “I think I might go change though and clean up for the night. Still wearing work clothes from this morning, have not really had enough time to get comfortable at all today.” She brushes herself off and waves towards everyone nearby, “It was nice seeing everyone and meeting new people. I’m sure I’ll run into you all again sometime.”
Matias checks his watch and declares, “Student union is 24/7 , but I will be heading back to sleep off my mist injuries in twenty-five minutes. If anyone needs anything from me now is the time. There will be no D’s given.”
Casey ahs softly and gives Helen a short wave.
Annabelle pulls out from her bag a stethoscope, shining briefly like a flashlight before stowing it away again.
Liri snaps, in a show of faux-disappoitment, at Matias’s words.
Annabelle gives Lana a second hug while she has a chance, for such reasons as ‘until’ and ‘unless.’ “Was California cool? You should take me next time.”
Owen waves to Helen, “Good night, Miss Wagner!”
Darrow lifts a hand and says, “Was good to meet everybody. Think I’m going to head back to my room now. Hope to see you all around campus!” Then he gives Liri a little side-long squeeze and he’s drifting off.
Lana nods quickly to Annabelle “I guess since you’re not a student or my patient anymore I could actually do that.” she says excitedly. “You’ll love Cali. It’s so sunny.”
“Boston weather sucks.” Annabelle grouches out with a brief squeeze, then lies to herself in pulling away like she’s not going to hug a third time.
Lana oofs and gives another hug to Annabelle “I like the snow. I mean not right now because I don’t have any good coats, but back home we have to go waaayyyyyy up in the mountains for snow.”
As the event seems to be winding down and people are leaving, Owen strolls over to Casey for a moment, “Really, that was a great show!” He exclaims, before heading over towards where Liri’s standing.
Lana shakes her head to Annabelle “Not very often at all!” she says cheerfully.
Casey takes her time putting her guitar away in its case, at Owen stopping by she smiles and nods, “Thanks. Come to one of my other shows some time.”
“Where?” Owen asks curiously.
With a little ink mixed with the drying tears on a puffy red canvas, Annabelle mumbles in an awe, “California’s sounds so cool. I bet the mountain isn’t a volcano to Hell, either.”
Annabelle says “It’s just a mountain that makes sense.“
Lana frowns a bit “Well, no it doesn’t go to hell, but I still get a little lost driving around it.” she admits.
Lana doesn’t immediately respond to Annabelle’s declaration.
“I’d love to get lost on a mountain.” Annabelle drones, refusing now to believe that California is not some promised land.
Matias slowly begins getting up from his chair and checks his wait as no one has come up to him there is a sleepy blink while approaching Annabelle and Lana. “Miss Thompson, Anna, nice to see you both. Miss Thompson are you back back, should I start referring students?”
Owen nods at Casey, “Well, I’d love to come if you do have another show some time! It seems fun!”
“Hiii Professor Mutias.” Annabelle greets with a regression of maturity in her tone.
Lana nods quickly to Matias “Oh yes, I’m back! I even cleaned up my office.” she chirps cheerfully.
Casey finishes packing up her guitar in its case then she begins to head out
“Miss Thompson’s been helpful!” Owen calls out. “I’ve had a few sessions with her.”
Annabelle says, ad-libbing, “She’s great.“
Matias seems lethargic while checking his phone and then refocusing on Lana and asking, “If you need some money to get winter clothes. The university has been generous, if not than I hope you bundle up. It just started snowing a few days ago.”
Lana winces a bit and nods to Matias “I know. I got more clothes, but…” she sighs “I just need a big big coat!” And maybe something other than heels.
Annabelle takes stock of Lana’s attire, just like she remembers, and mumbles. “Don’t change annnything.”
“Same,” Owen mentions, joining in on the conversation. “I’m not from California, but, I’m from Florida.” A look outside, “It’s gonna be terribly cold. I had to get gloves and a hat today.. I might even need a scarf..”
Annabelle says “Stay the saaame foreeevver.“
Annabelle quirks her lips at Owen, rubbing her nose red with the sleeve of her sweater before introducing herself with, “I’m Hannabull.”
“Like the General?” Owen asks, blinking at the introduction.
Lana laughs to Annabelle “Annnnaaa, no one stays the same.” She looks to Owen and nods. “So many pieces of clothing, that sounds exciting!”
“They do if they become treees.” Annabelle retorts first to Lana, then to Owen she simply shrugs.
“Trees change,” Owen mentions to Annabelle, and then turns to Lana. “It was nothing special, really! Just some winter gloves, and a black beanie..”
