[Thu Aug 7 2025]

30a 87sp80ra44wli37ng01 mansion com01po37un44d i80n 87Te30xas
30The mansion compound rises from 87the dusty Texas plains like a for80tress of old money and new tech44built out of limestone and surrou37nded by wrough iron gate. Slow-mo01ving drones patrol the perimiter, though a few scant people in guard uniforms can be spied patroling further in by those with keen eyes, closer to the buildings th01emselves. While the mansion is 37impressive, the target for tonigh44t’s job is in the private garage 80bunker below: an expensive, high87-tech sports car that’s custom ma30de and everyone wants a piece of.

It is about 70/span/i>21C) degrees. The mist is heaviest At Autumn and Blackstone/span

Obadiah squints slightly, staying near Dovie and Esme, “I blame climate change”

Jakem nods to Obadiah “Yeah, Clim shouldn’t eat change.” he comments “Though I’m not sure how that affects the weather.”

Obadiah says “Either climate change or poor parenting

The group comes out in a small ramshackle shack a few hundred feet off the side of the road. It doesn’t take long for Esme to lead them to the road itself where a black getaway car is blending in to the darkness. A man sporting some Promethean identifiers is leaned up against one, clearly waiting. Esme greets him with a fist bump, “Thanks for comin’ Clark. Clark, everyone. Everyone, Clark. He’s gonna be our getaway driver – bring the car directly to the client once we’ve got it in hand while we hightail it” She explains. Is there someone else in the car? Yes. Probably in case things go seriously wrong.

“Alright so.” She peers a little toward the gate in the darkness. “The garage is underground. Couldn’t get blueprints because this place was hard enough to track down, but there’s an entrance on this side of the property. We just have to get through the fence, past the drones, and avoid some of these roaming guards.” Easy Peasy.

//OOC You each can do 1 try roll to try and learn some extra info also if you like. i’ll distribute answers via private emit.

Jakem gives a wave to Obadiah and Dovie “I’m gonna get a look around now that the sun’s starting to go down.” he says into the radio.

Obadiah nods and goes the other way from Jakem, trying to get another lay of the land, but apparently Dovie went first so Obadiah just hangs out with Esme and Clark

Dovie speaks low into her earpiece, “Patrol drone at 3 o clock. between the fence and mansion, two guards closer to the mansion and one guarding a … shed maybe?”

Jakem comes back around “Oh, they’ve got drones. Cool beans, lemme see if I can figure out their broadcast frequency, so we can see what they’re seeing.” he comments as he starts playing on his phone.

Obadiah squints at the window a moment then looks back to Jakem as he puts his finger to his headset, “Good work Dovie. Can you get closer to see if you can figure out what is in the shed?”

Esme has her bolt cutters out, examining the fence. “I’m pretty sure these’ll cut through the fence easy.” She murmurs to Obadiah while Dovie and Jakem are scouting. “And I’m also pretty sure the thing isn’t electrified…just have to make sure we don’t catch any attention.”

Dovie nods at Obadiah and tries to creep closer.

There is a fence between Dovie and the shed, but she still might be able to get a closer look if she’s careful.

Jakem isn’t quite able to hack into the feed of the drones, but he does manage to avoid tripping any anti-hacking measures that could blow their cover too soon. Esme speaks into her earpiece, “Dovie an’ I ‘ve got a couple ah those jammers. Maybe we can try to confuse the drones?” She wonders softly, moving closer to the fence with the bolt cutters and crouching low.

Dovie manages to find a better angle at the fence line and can see that it’s not a shed, but an oddly placed garage door that’s separate from the house and not entirely subtle. That must be where they have to get into. The guards may become more of an issue though.

“It’s … a garage door? Separate from the house and oddly placed. Seems like where we have to get into, which makes the guards … complicated.” Dovie says low into her earpiece.

Esme says, with some effort, “…I forgot to remind people to bring weapons just in case. Did people bring weapons just in case?

Jakem nods a bit to no one, cause he’s talking to a radio “Well Sun’s almost down, we see any nightvision on those guards? Drones probably have it, and there’ll be floodlights near the garage, but a possibility is to knock out the lights. Though that’s sure to bring folks over.”

Dovie nods and pats her backpack, grabbing her gear

“I got my weapons,” Obadiah assures Esme before looking around and putting his hand to his ear “I can make a distraction, but we’ll probably need to move fast to get into the garage.”

Jakem hmmm’s “Well I was intending to practice my mosey, but I suppose I can do that when we’re chased by wolves on our way home. A’right, hussle speed it is.” he says, taking a sprinter’s stance.

Dovie also gets into sprint position.

“Beautiful.” Esme murmurs in her ear piece as she gets confirmations. “I think I’ve got us an opening in the fence.” That thankfully really wasn’t electrified. “Dovie, let’s get the jammers ready. Obie – yeah just what I was thinking, try t’ lure the guards away to the other side of the property or somethin, Jakem – when we get close try an’ focus the lights before they have a chance t’ come on.”

Obadiah looks around a moment and pulls out his box with many prisms and selects one that he likes. With a flick of his wrist he throws it into the air and away from the other side of the compound, throwing a glamour after it, refracting the light in a brilliant magical flash bang.

Several things happen at once when Obadiah’s distraction gets to work and not all of them are good! The good news is that the jammers from Dovie and Esme go off perfectly. Dovie even manages to clear the distance to the garage and has time to conceal herself around the side of it before she can be spotted. The bad news is that Esme manages to catch the attention of one of the guards mid-sprint as their attention is drawn to that magical flashbang of lights. Some alarms start getting sounded and Esme turns to run the entirely opposite direction of the garage.

The other good news is this means that Obadiah and Jakem can make it to the garage without too much trouble because the guards are chasing after Esme.

Jakem just kinda busts in in a blur of green and long limbs across the dusk darkening grounds, far away from the distraction. He briefly wonders if they put guns on those drones; that’d be so sick. He should load up his drones with stuff when he gets home. Maybe parachuting enchanted dolls. “Watch out for drone paradrops.” he says into his radio as he sprints.

Dovie squats down, hiding, her eyes widening as she realizes that Esme is not with them!

Esme says, a little garbled from running and trying to keep her voice down, “Keep on with tha task! Get in ‘fore they realize I’m not alone.

Dovie attempts to open the door and creep in as quietly as she can.

From the outside, this garage is exactly what one might expect a standalone to look like. There’s the front door and then a little side door for non-car entry. It’s locked, but there is a window and a brief peek inside the door will show it is entirely empty save for a staircase going downward that isn’t even concealed.

Jakem nods, moving to the garage door and waiting “A’ight, let’s get in here. Think there’s a window?” He asks, hefting his truncheon.

Dovie speaks into her earpiece, “A sooe

Dovie says “A door to the garage.

Jakem nods over to Dovie and Obadiah “Figure we can either pick the lock or smash the window. I’ll get into position.” He says, getting ready to smash through the window if the door doesn’t get unlocked.

Jakem smirks “I’m gonna take that as an admission that you can’t.” he says, pulling back his truncheon before bringing it down on the window.

Clark is also probably here, but he’s just the driver so he’s not going to be very helpful, but at least he’s quiet!

The window shatters! It’s easy enough to reach in and unlock the door to be able to descend into the bunk if the group so chooses.

Jakem quickly does so, wasting no time as he unlocks the door “Lock picked.” he declares to Dovie before darting inside.

Dovie does not hesitate, nodding and sneaking in after Jakem, looking around after.

Jakem turns to Dovie and Obadiah “So, this door aint gonna be knocked down, and there’s cameras all over in there. What’s your plan for getting through?”

Jakem nods to Dovie, looking back to the door “I mean with computers and electronics yeah, but…” he tests the door. Old school or modern lock?

“We’re being watched,” Obadiah says, tacking point on all things arcane apparently. “Someone with fast scrying.” He narrows his eyes and then looks back to the door, “I mean I have a shotgun, but that is loud.”

Well this probably wasn’t what the group was envisioning when Esme said ‘underground garage’. This probably isn’t even what she was envisioning. From the top of the stairs they can all see there appears to be another door. There’s several high tech cameras in place and whatever lies beyond is anyone’s guess but probably not much easier. The lock on the door is biometric.

Did anyone remember to pick up that EMP that Hester tossed together? Risky but maybe the easiest route, depending. Hacking, of course, is also an option if Jakem thinks he’s got the ability to do it on the fly like he did with the drones.

Jakem nods a bit “Oh, didn’t notice that. Okay, biometric. Well, I got the prettiest eyes, so I … heheh… will get to work on this. I’ll leave the mooning your magician or whatever it takes to get rid of the scrying to you two.”

Dovie frowns at seeing the biometrics, muttering something under her breath that sounds suspiciously like… “… should have gouged a guards eye out -”

Dovie gives it a shot…

meant that for Dovie

Jakem glances back “Welp I assume you two took care of that.” he says with clueless optimism. “As for the door, voila!” he gives a few little taps of his phone, and moves to push it open.

Fate is not with Obadiah or Dovie when it comes to anti scry bubbles

Dovie does not have the heart to confirm, nor deny.

“It’s,” Obadiah starts then waffles his head to explain to Jakem, “A delicate matter. Very fickle, magic. It’s probably fine though.”

Dovie looks rather skeptical at the ‘probably fine’ but as a supportive partner, she doesn’t say anything.

Jakem nods with acceptance “All right, well after you two.” he says with a crooked grin. “Mind the cameras.”

Dovie nods and sneaks inside, ladies first after all…

While Dovie and Obadiah try to fight magic with magic, Jakem puts his full focus on the biometic lock. It’s difficult but just when he thinks it’s about to lock him out, there’s a clicking sound and the door pops open to reveal, well, even more of a puzzling scenario. It’s a single room. There’s a gorgeous looking, completely custom lambo in the center, gleaming in the harsh synthetic light. And there’s a 96bright right laser grid going criss cross all over the room.

Every wall is also lined with private military stamped boxes and cases with who knows what inside.

“Fuck that.” Clark mutters under his breath.

Dovie/b>Jakem whistles to Dovie “Do some catwoman shit!” he calls out supportively.

Dovie glares at Jakem. “Can you get the lasers to turn off?”

Jakem heaves a dissapointed sigh “I’ll see what I can do.” he comments as he turns his attention to the security system. “Good thing we’ve got plenty of time, what with that magic voodoo you two did earlier.”

Dovie’s eyes dart back and forth.

“You got this babe!” Obadiah says, “Just… uh remember those girls in the movies that bend around and dance. Just do that shit.” He pauses then and says, “I mean I could try refracting the light beams but this eat is more fun,”

“Absolutely not, you two try with refracting or getting rid of the lasers, I don’t bend like Catwoman,” Dovie hisses into her earpiece.

//OOC They…should not have summoned that many! one moment

Jakem chuckles “If the laser doesn’t reach it’s end point, the alarm goes off. We’d have to refract each beam twice, and simultaneously. C’mon, you got class, you got style. You need me to sing ‘Catwalk’? I know like 75 percent of the lyrics.”

Just as Jakem is starting on the lasers and Obadiah is making commentary, Dovie will catch sight of two demonborn guards bursting down the stairs! Does she know they’re demonborn? Probably not but whatever. “STOP RIGHT THERE!” One of them shouts, pulling out a gun.

Dovie’s eyes open wide at the demonborn guards. For a moment, before she starts to clap her hands. “Good job,” she says. “You’ve passed the test. We’re an independent third party hire sent to test your security. We’ll report an A plus rating to your bosses.” She tries to catch their eyes.

Obadiah reaches into his pants and grabs a bead of sea glass, just in case.

Jakem reaches into his pants… and scratches himself, just in case.

Obadiah does have an octopus in his pants but is also happy to see Jakem

The quick thinking on the hypnotism works this time but the trio can be sure they it’s about to get a lot worse. On the plus side, they already know they’re caught so maybe the lasers aren’t as important. They just need figure out how to get the car -out- of this room and also getting the car started.

Jakem idly chats as Dovie explains their situation “So Obie, you met Stacy? Heard she came from the bay somewhere.”

Dovie ignores the scratching brothers and tells the guards, “We’ll finish up our assessment here. No need for alarm. We have a few more things to check on the checklist then we’ll send in our reports.”

Dovie can intuit the alarm was already sounded, these were just the first two guys to get here.

“Stacy? I don’t think so. Does her mom have it going on?” Obadiah asks with a grin before looking around for the button to open the garage door

Jakem shrugs to Obadiah “I mean I never met her, but you should come by the Den sometime and meet her. Bet we could do a playdate.” he comments as he watches Dovie struggle with her story.

The guards nod though, “Uh, sorry.” One of them says. “Of course.” The other nods.

There is no garage door here on this lower level they descended into. But it does look like the car might be on some kind of platform and there is a button that might lower it. Probably need to get Clark in the car and the car started before pressing it though.

Jakem whispers to Dovie “you know if the alarm’s already tripped, you could probably just walk through the lasers.”

Dovie hustles the hottercar wiring kit to Clark, telling him. “Let’s get the boxes checked and go!” She steps through the lasers because fuck it now.

Obadiah blinks and folds his arms across his chest, “I do believe Ms Fairchild to he a natural born criminal.”

With the pressure on, Dovie and Clark hustle to the car and thanks to Hester’s insane hotwiring system they manage to bring the lambo to life. Clark gets in the driver seat and thumbs up. “Lower this thing and let me get the fuck outta here so you guys can go too!”

Dovie steps out of the car, hissing into her earpiece, “No names!” before she tries to bop that button, turning to try to wipe the guards’ memory.

Jakem tilts his head “Well I did mention Catwoman. We don’t want Michelle to be in any trouble, so don’t forget to wipe them of that.” he calls out helpfully as he moves to the lever and just kinda yanks. “Upsydaisy.”

Obadiah mutters something about Pigeon Lilly Cheateradult

The lever is flipped, the car’s platform starts lowering down to unknown depths. They can hear the faint sounds of people moving in, shouts of guards and the like. The two guards next to them are passive for now still. This is probably their last chance to get out before they have to fight their way out.

Dovie tries to sneak dash her way out!

Jakem hops into a spare seat in the lambo “A’right, you two can handle your own way out right?” he calls after Dovie and Obadiah. “Carter and I have a date with destiny. And her twin, fortune.”

Obadiah was never there to begin with, it seems. However had he been there he would have seen Dovie almost get caught and grabs her by her jumpsuit, blowing out a poor guards eyes before moving along again, quickly and quietly, as if neither of them were actually there. Except you know, the witnesses, the camera footage, the lasers.

96Inside the Mansion
A raven-haired woman with a lightly tanned complexion watches the commotion near the garage with amusement and maybe some mild fascination. “Ballsy.” She turns and looks toward Esme/b>Esme’s
gaze, imparting something unspoken while the group outside is making their getaway.

96Jakem and Clark
The car lowers into a straitaway that Clark tears down, betting fully on there being a clear way out – and there is. He’ll pit stop to drop Jakem off at the original return point before driving off into the sunset to wherever the car is getting delivered to.

96Together Again
Obadiah and Dovie make it out of the fence just as the guards are getting to the garage. Esme/b>Dovie looks relieved. “Oh my god…” She sighs.

Jakem sighs “I miss that car.” he comments after his brief experience in the lap of luxury. Turning to Dovie, Obadiah and Esme he cocks his head to the side. “Well that went about perfectly, and none the wiser.” he says as the alarms blaring in the distance might be heard.

Dovie shakes her head at Jakem and Obadiah. “I can’t believe you were using real names!”

“It looks like a nice fuckin’ ride.” Esme murmurs in agreement to Jakem about him missing the car. The chuckles between Dovie and Obadiah, glancing back toward the mansion as guards are still scrambling. “Yeah let’s get the fuck outta here before they actually catch us.”

Jakem snickers and nods “yeah, that’s gonna be hilarious when the rest of the Fairchilds find out what this one gets up to in her spare time.”

“Listen I am not some criminal. I am a perfectly innocent school boy,” Obadiah says with a chuckle to Dovie. “I don’t now the first thing about crime.”

Dovie rolls her eyes and high tails after Esme

Obadiah beats cheeks too cause why not?

Jakem nods to Dovie in agreement “It’s true, he demonstrated absolutely no knowledge about crime or how to do it all evening.”
