(Arachne’s Double Feature Classic Horror Movie Night)

[Sat Aug 9 2025]

At New Haven Beach Cabanas/span
Three elegant beach cabanas sit in a row on the sand, each crafted from
smooth, sun-bleached wood with flowing white cloth panels that flutter
gently in the sea breeze. The fabric is tied at each corner in soft folds,
giving the cabanas a breezy, spa-like atmosphere that blends luxury with
coastal ease. Just beyond them lies an uninterrupted stretch of golden beach
leading straight to the endless blue ocean, where the waves roll in with a
rhythmic calm. At night, lanterns and candles are lit to provide a soft glow.

A neat line of pristine white lounge chairs and matching umbrellas sits
nearby, each arranged to face the water in perfect symmetry. Tanned,
muscular beach boys assist guests with setting up chairs and adjusting
umbrellas, their easy smiles and sun-kissed skin adding to the relaxed
charm of the setting. Stylish beach staff dressed in breezy resort
uniforms glide between loungers, handing out fresh towels and taking
orders for chilled cocktails and light seaside fare.

It is afternoon, about 75F(23C) degrees, and there are a few thin white clouds in the sky. The mist is heaviest At Thornberry and Franklin/span

As Cedric continues to inspect the area with wonderment, he notices Arachne limping in. “My Lady?” Cedric asks, stepping close to her, hand on the pommel of his sheathed sword. “Are you hurt, Madam?”

Pulling her baseball cap low over her head, Arachne gingerly drags herself through the elegant beach cabanas and toward the third one in the distance, collapsing onto a chair with a labored breath. Her features arrange themselves into a facsimile of a strained smile at Cedric, encouraging, “I’m quite well, but thank you. Find somewhere to settle in. The movie will start soon to give people time to filter in if they can.”

Obadiah looks at his phone briefly before looking up and smiling at Dovie, “Where should we sit?”

Obadiah says “JINX!

“Movie?” Cedric asks, testing the word on his lips, confusion settling in. “I do not know what that is. I..” a beat, pausing, glancing around. “Do not know what any of this is.” Standing still somewhat close to Arachne, like a guard, slightly, he inspects her. “Are you sure you are okay, my Lady? I might have something with me, that could help.”

Obadiah chuckles and moves towards the chairs without umbrellas, the last to probably fill up, though he does stop at the third cabana to give Arachne a greeting and polite bob of his head, eying someone suspiciously, before glancing back to Arachne with ‘The Look’.

“Piss off,” August shoots towards Cedric while finally pushing away from the bar he was leaning on to slide into the third cabana alongside Arachne. “She’s got personal medical staff.” His dismissal is with his hand, shooing away with the back of it in finality with a mere wave of a cut and throw gesture over his shoulder. Settling by the chair she chose, August slowly sinks on his knee with a look up at her, and a hand held out for the first aid kit she brought with her. “Just focus on what you’re doing, spider. I’ll patch whatever got you.”

An Illusium Court reveler prances along through the slowly burgeoning crowd, moving along the back of the establishment toward a large projector to prepare to begin the scream fest onscreen. TEN MINUET WARNING.

Arachne/span knits her brows as she drags herself up partway in her seat to regard Cedric more closwly from beneath the shadow cast by her baseball drawn low over her paled features. “Do you see that gentleman over there?” she points him toward Obadiah in the distance. “Go to him. He will ensure all is well with you. That is Ser Mercer, one of my personal knights. Once I get a free moment, I’ll meet with you later…” The words leave her breathless, sinking into August as fresh blood still pours from the massive gashes hidden under the oversized hoodie she’s folded herself in.

Arachne says “There’s five minutes or so left before the movie is starting at New Haven Beach Cabanas.

Obadiah smiles but then his headset buzzes a moment and he looks to Dovie, “Annnnnd there goes Esme.”

Obadiah says “Thorn and Darkwater.

Obadiah says “Let me know I am with Dovie and we can help

Obadiah steps away to not be a distraction while he deals with the mess

Cedric glances at August, “Oh, you are a surgeon then, my apologies, Sir.” A bow is given, low and practiced. The term piss off has no meaning to him, so he’s not immediately stepping away. Though, when it’s clear that the ‘surgeon’ is dealing with it he steps back, giving Arachne the same bow. “Of course, Madam.” And off he’s stepping, towards someone, the man indicated.

Though, when it’s clear that the ‘surgeon’ is dealing with it he steps back, giving Arachne the same bow. “Of course, Madam.” And off he’s stepping, towards the man indicated — who has just marched off.

The movie begins as Arachne settles back in the cabanas, half curled against August while he tends to her, weakly digging out snacks to throw to Shiloh.

Shiloh nods with a wave over to Arachne, lazily reaching for the snacks offered.

Arachne’s fall to him is caught by a hand beside her shoulder, and another at her side, near her hip. August slowly guides her back to her seat. To the others, towards Dovie, “I can run a trace from here if they’re unresponsive, I have my laptop, so let me know.” But he’s back on Arachne, to withdraw bloodied hands from her and retrieve the kit she dropped by the seat. “You should’ve cancelled, or delayed, spider.” In his chastising, Cedric is not given another look, he’s popping open the box that seems chokeful of medical supplies that are overkill for a simple first aid kit. All that he retrieves from it is some gauze, something packaged, and a small cylinder. The latter of which he shakes in its can, pops open the cap, then brings closer to Arachne’s gash to spray it liberally, until it’s out. “This’ll numb the pain for a few hours, and make sure you won’t feel the stitches.”

Dovie nods at Arachne. “No problem, the Order is already running one.”

“The Order are thankfully responding quickly, so we won’t have to worry about. I feel terrible if Esme was caught in the mists because I wasn’t able to update everyone quickly enough,” Arachne murmurs through a twinge of guilt as she watches the unfolding medical procedure onscreen with unfocused eyes. “I … have just been looking forward to getting to relax and watch classic movies all week. I would have been disappointed if I had to cancel,” she admits to August in hush-spoken apology, hissing out a breath of relief as the numbing effect begins to work. “Thank you, Doctor Pierce.”

Dovie nods, satisfied as the wait staff bring her a tester of the lobster roll. “Excellent, put it on the menu!” She turns her attention back to the movie.

In a facsimile of the medical procedure that happens on screen, August can’t pay it much mind. He only grumbles something offensive-sounding, but not actually worded at all, and while everyone’s eyes are elsewhere, he’s wiping Arachne’s wound clean with a gauze, throwing it in the kit, then unpacking the sutures with his teeth. It’s quick work, quiet work, and done so subtle that agast, no one has the time to see it get into detail. What with the content warnings and all. When he’s done, August tears open another adhesive gauze to plant it over the wound and seal it shut. “Don’t forget to remove this after the party is over. It looks worse than it is, so you’ll be fine, it just needs to breathe, and you need to stretch often, but knowing you, it’ll heal in a couple of days.”

Arachne rearranges herself against August, settling into a comfortable curl against his side as she lifts her gaze up toward the screen. “…. Did he just steal a head?” she wonders dazedly, blinking slowly, hoping August and Shiloh caught that.

Shiloh furrows his brows as he watches the screen, turning to Arachne “I think he did…”

“Yeah, straight out of a car.” August tells Arachne while he makes sure she’s not leaning on her injured side, and cushions her with his chest. His head, however, eventually settles over her shoulder. “I have no fucking clue what’s going on, though.”

Dovie says “She okay?

“… I suppose we’re about to find out. He is a madman,” Arachne declares the frantic surgeon cradling the bagged head.

Dovie says “Needs the hospital or will be okay?

Dovie waves to Tamar, whispering as the movie goes on. “Welcome! Take a seat anywhere!”

Arachne raises a hand to wave toward Tamar as she spots the new arrival, the cabanas sparsely populated with classic movie buffs watching the beginnings of a grieving surgeon’s mad science experience onscreen.

Tamar wanders in after some wavering near her horse, but curiosity eventually wins. She offers Dovie and Arachne both polite dips of her head before going to find herself a seat at the chairs her gaze already locked on the projected screen with widened eyes.

Dovie leans over to whisper to lean. “There’s drinks and snacks!”

Dovie leans over to whisper to Tamar. “There’s drinks and snacks!” (fixed)

“Rest and grow stronger? Bitch doesn’t even have a body.” August complains, half-confused, somewhat flabbergasted with a slightly half-open mouth in his confused stare at the wall.

“It is frightening to believe that such feats are possible in this day and age,” Arachne whispers toward August and Shiloh, an arm lazily curved around August’s waist. “That kind of love is quite … tragic.”

Dovie calls out to Arachne. “Good! There are witnesses.”

Tamar leans over a bit to listen to Dovie, a wince lancing across her features as she movies too quickly. “Thank you,” she says back but her attention is really locked on the screen, like a child at their first cinema visit.

“What a cad,” Arachne murmurs in amusement under her breath as the doctor gazes appreciatively at a pin-up woman dancing in a dark club.

“I promise I’d keep your head alive if you died before your time,” August promises the inverse to Arachne from over her shoulder.

Obadiah slides into a lounge chair next to Dovie, silent so as not to disrupt everyone else

Dovie curls up to Obadiah, kicking off her flats. “There you are! Someone’s head got stolen and I guess Arachne says she won’t do that to me, so you’re a witness.”

Arachne tilts her head to lend August a horrified look from beneath her lashes. “I know my face is an exquisite work of art, but please just immortalize me in a painting. Don’t do that to me,” she begs of him hushedly through hushed, dazed laughter.

Sophie sneaks in quietly and flops down into a seat.

Arachne raises her hand to wave at Sophie when she spots her sneaking in, but her eyes are on the screen as the newly resurrected bodiless head onscreen monologues about her horror and plans for revenge with a groaning creature behind a locked door.

“Okay, I won’t touch your face.” August tells Arachne while staring up at the screen. “I’ll do your body instead.” That seems to be enough for him, apparently, while he’s enamored with the horrors beyond mortal comprehension of the common 60’s man.

Dovie whispers something to one of the cabana staff. Promptly, Sophie is brought a fresh lobster roll, still glistening and steaming as it sits nestled in a brioche bun. “Courtesy of Management,” the server tells Sophie with a bow.

Dovie waves to Gabriel and Esme.

Sophie offers a little wave to Arachne as she settles in and watches.

Arachne reaches aside for a hot-honey wing to shove it into August’s mouth, too engrossed in the horrors onscreen to dignify him with a comment. Gabriel and Esme receive lethargic wave, the injured sovereign barely managing to sit up just a little in her seat against August, passing Shiloh some chicken.

Obadiah waves his hand over to Gabriel and Esme, somehow already changed into a Wild Bloom branded Hawaiian shirt with matching Crocs.

Tamar lays back on one of the beach chairs, a bandaged arm draped across her middle, staring at the screen. A glance is spared across to the newcomers but it quickly drifts back to the screen with a slightly open-mouthed enthralled gaze.

Dovie whispers something under her breath to Obadiah. She glares at him. It sounds suspiciously like, “Take those off!”

Shiloh peers over, easily accepting the chicken, grinning Arachne’s way, whispering “Thanks.”

Esme limps over into a seat, sinking down in one and just laxing back, eyes focusing on the movie with a little wave to everyone. Is she even watching the movie? Hard to tell. She’s just vibing for a moment.

Dovie nods at Obadiah. “Good.”

Gabriel joins the correct set of chairs this time, offering waves to the familiar faces before he notices Obadiah’s Crocs, “Oh hey, you got a pair. Heard Dovie is championing their return to the fashion world.”

Dovie whispers, but her voice is angrier and louder than she means it to be. “That’s a dirty lie and you know it, Gabriel Hawkins! Stop supporting Obie’s nonsense!”

Obadiah takes off his flip-flops, giving Dovie a look before curling back up with the red-head to watch the movie. “Oh yeah, I like teasing her about them.”

Gabriel gasps dramatically at Dovie, “Are you saying you’re -not- supporting them? Because that’s not what the people say. In the Croc community you’re heralded as a hero. Your name will forever be associated with them.”

Dovie glares Obadiah and Gabriel for a moment. “I paid Connie to burn a pair of crocs last night, so no. I am not a croc supporter.”

Gabriel lifts a brow at Dovie, “Hiring someone to create controversy to drive up interest and sales? A bold move, I’m sure the community will appreciate it.”

Dovie glares daggers at Gabriel.

Tamar stares at the screen then she turns to Dovie, blinking, “Did the serum turn her supernatural?!” she gasps.

Dovie glances back to Tamar and then to the screen. “Oh no I missed it because tweddle croc and tweddle croc baby were distracting me.”

Obadiah is trying so hard not to laugh at the shenanigans that have started happening.

Dovie groans.

Esme asides of the movie “This man is awful at bein’ inconspicuous…”

An attendant from one of the cabanas near Arachne crosses over to deliver buffalo wings to Esme’s lounge.

Dovie grimaces

Esme blinks a bit but takes the wings with a thank you.

Dovie tries to focus on the movie, curling up into Obadiah.

“Can you just imagine being able to essentially shop for your Frankenstein Bride that way,” Arachne muses over toward August and Shiloh as she watches the line-up of women. “I’m not even sure how this is going to go. Do you think the victim is going to merge with that creature behind the door?”

Shiloh hums softly in contemplation to Arachne’s question “Maybe. I feel like this is going to go in a weird body horror angle.”

“I don’t know, but does that woman getting her pictures taken have a bulge?” August asks quizzically, as he keeps his arms protectively around Arachne’s waist. His expression remains just as lost as it was before. “Damn, they’re thirsty.”

Sophie blinks at the screen and mumbles, “You tell him girly.”

“I wasn’t paying attention that closely,” Arachne admits to August after a distracted glance cast toward the screen. “I do love her spirit though. She’s certainly a heart breaker,” she sighs with almost girlish enthusiasm, glancing over toward Shiloh. “It probably will be.”

“Well, whatever they did, they didn’t behead you and hook it up to a machine, you dumb bitch.” August mouths off to himself, talking to the screen, very distracted.

August says “I hope they do.

“Oh, shit, he’s gonna put his wife’s head on her body.” August dawns with sudden realization.

“Would you do that,” Arachne wonders morbidly to August when he finally realizes the plot line. And then, the screen goes black and she sits up.

“Did the movie end prematurely?” Arachne wonders, wincing as she sits up in her seat to look around.

“It is back,” Tamar says after the blackscreen.

Gabriel nods as it kicks back on, “Sometimes they just have long pauses or other issues. They weren’t perfect back then and sometimes you just have to wait a bit.”

Obadiah looks over and nods, “Yeah seems to be back. Weird… Classic weirdness. Love the cars though.”

Esme says “They were cool cars

Gabriel says “No power steering, no AC, four gears if you’re lucky. Great times.

Esme says “That’s what tha top down was for

Obadiah says “Pass everything but a gas station though.

Arachne raises her hand to welcome Kaelyn as she spots the newcomer, her gaze on the old black and white film on the projection screen shortly after.

Esme startles a little at the hand bursting out of the wall.

Arachne jumps as the doctor is suddenly snatched up, a hiss of pain pressed out through clenched teeth. “I wasn’t expecting a jump scare this late in the movie.”

Tamar stares open-mouthed at the screen, her eyes wide at the attack.

Obadiah looks over to Dovie at the jumpscare, makes sure she is ok, then goes back to the movie.

Kaelyn wiggles in her chair with a little frown, pulling on leg up to her chest.

Esme says, in a loud whisper, “What’s tha point of ah sheet if yer gonna leave tha feet exposed?

“How are they going to conclude this with ten minutes left.” August asks quietly. “There are so many loose ends.”

“He quite literally just glossed over the body of his colleague, dead on the floor,” Arachne shakes her head at the movie, aghast. “It really is. I may have to change the next movie. I do genuinely want something frightening to finish the night off.”

Arachne’s eyes widen as the doctor is snatched and choked onscreen and the door opens to reveal a dreadful creature.

“What a chad.” August praises the monster.

Shiloh chuckles a bit as he watches the monster wrangle the doctor.

Kaelyn puts her hand over her mouth seeing the egg head monster thing.

Esme says “Damn..

As the first movie ends, Arachne brings a hand to her mouth to call out toward the watchers, “The next movie will start in five minutes if anyone wants to stretch, get snacks, or socialize for a bit!”

Gabriel says “That was a little better than I expected.

“Well… that was certainly, something,” Obadiah says with a glance to the dozing Dovie before looking back to Gabriel, Esme, and Sophie. “Clearly she will sleep through anything.”

With the movie ended and texts distracting her, Tamar eases up from her seat with a wince and slips out.

“That was – yeah not half bad.” Esme agrees, closing her eyes a moment. “And Cause tha thing got moved later I can hang for the next one.” She grins toward Obadiah, “It’s a superpower.”

“We weren’t able to properly secure the rights to the next movie, so we’ll be going with The Crazies, from 1973,” Arachne announces after a reveler comes with whispered words for her. She sits up with some difficulty, grabbing a cake out a cooler to launch it across the lounges to hit Obadiah in the shoulder with it.

Gabriel perks up as he sees the movie, “Oh shit I know this one.”

Esme ducks a little with the flying cake. “What were ya like, twenty when it came out?” She teases Gabriel

“Well that’s certainly one way to start a movie,” Arachne is immediately engrossed as the house is set onfire.

Gabriel pokes his tongue out at Esme, “Hey, there was at least a decade left before I was born!”

Obadiah apparently has fast enough reflexes to catch the flying cake smiles at Arachne with a playful wag of his brows before looking back at the dumpster, er, house fire.

Sophie tilts her head, “Those red turtlenecks..classic.”

Esme lets out a pained giggle with Gabriel’s retort, refocusing on the movie.

“I see where you received your fashion tips from,” Arachne teases Shiloh when she spots the turtlenecks onscreen.

Shiloh snickers aside at someone arachne “It’s a classic.”

Shiloh snickers aside at Arachne “It’s a classic.”

“Are you not overheating in those turtlenecks though,” Arachne queries aside to Shiloh with a glance aside to his own turtleneck, reaching down to pass him a beer, but she can’t quite lift her arm out to make it all the way.

Shiloh shakes his head at Arachne “It’s surprisingly breathable.” He informs as he reaches for the beer, bending toward her to help the woman not have to reach so far.

Kai wanders over to Sophie and plops down in a chair near her, he gives a general wave to anyone who looks his way but otherwise tries to just be inconspicuous as he finds his seat.

Kaelyn peers at her phone, looking at something before letting a small sigh. As quietly as she arrived she left.

Kai wraps his arm around Sophie and squeezes her against him, his fingers gently strokes up and down against her side as he watches the movie.”

“Bro just stole their fishing rods,” Kai blinks at the movie and shakes his head, “diabological. Get him toddler!”

Kai coughs, “Diabolical,” he mutters.

“That dog was zoned out of its head.” August drawls lazily.

“Yeah hole up in the country club! Get some golf in!” Kai calls to the screen loudly.

“Man they’re just stealing all their shit, this is a good racket,” Kai tells Sophie, laughing.

“That dog makes me think of that one dreadful movie… Coujo?” Arachne muses to August and Shiloh with a humored glance toward Kai and Sophie’s direction when she overhears the couple’s commentary.

Shiloh leans back on his palms, settling in as he watches the movie, nodding a few times to Arachne “That’s a great movie.”

“Gotta airdrop in some Ivor mectin!” Kai calls to the screen, “Drink a little belach too!”

Obadiah looks like he is about to touch something at his throat at Kai’s outburst and either doesn’t find what he is looking for or decides against it.

Sophie chuckles and looks at Kai, “Pretty rough bug.”

“Brooo you need to pick your eyebrows,” Kai mutters and squeezes Sophie up against his side, “Why are those chairs covered in sheets?”

Arachne tugs Shiloh’s arm gently. “Let’s go join the others.”

Kai rubs his hands together, “Time to break out the flamethrowers,” he tells Sophie with a waggle of his brows.

Dovie wakes up from her nap.

Shiloh looks over at the chairs before shrugging, offering Arachne a nod as he passes over some strange item “Yeah, was this yours?”

Arachne inclines her head in soft affirmation to Shiloh, slowly gathering herself to her feet. “Yes, it was. Come on. I want to go sit with the others now.”

With a servant trailing behind with hot honey wings and dark craft beer, Arachne folds herself into a chair next to the gang. “Anyone want any wings? They’re still hot.”

Kai bursts out laughing when the guy gets set on fire and shakes his head at Arachne’s question.

“Morning sleepy head,” Obadiah teases Dovie and points to the second movie.

Dovie investigates the wing situation.

Arachne glances aside at Annabelle, nudging Obadiah in the shoulder as she takes a craft beer and motions him to pass it down to the the anxious girl.

Dovie licks her fingers and nudges Obadiah. “Did you hear my question?

Obadiah says “Which question? Anna needs a beer… I am confused

Esme had closed her eyes but opens them again when there’s more screaming happening in the movie. “Fuckin’ hell…”

Dovie pats Obadiah’s hand and just ends up watching the movie.

Kai laughs all the more when the priest light himself on fire, “Brooo keep your hazmat mask on are you a moron?” he shakes his head and rests his cheek against Sophie’s head.

Kai snickers right along with the crazy lady in the movie, “She gets it.”

“You’d get shot first, the way you’re giggling up a storm, if that movie was real,” Arachne whispers over toward Kai in amusement.

Kai nods in agreement with Arachne’s assessment of his chances for survival in that situation.

Sophie snuggles into Kai, “Chances of the daughter killing her father with whatever bug she has?”

“High,” Arachne opines toward Sophie without hesitation as she watches the ensuing chase through the woods

“Oh it’s like a hundred percent, that little girl is going to fuck this whole group up,” Kai nods at Sophie firmly, “I mean I say little girl but she’s probably older than we are.

Sophie grins at Arachne’s and then glances at Kai, “These people really can’t run in the woods.”

Sophie grins at Arachne’s comment and then glances at Kai, “These people really can’t run in the woods.” -ugh fix

“That was the most emotionally c–” Arachne startles as the reverberation from the crash ripples through the lounges, grabbing onto Dovie’s arm.

Kai laughs when the doctor gets spat on, he shakes his head and leans against Sophie.

Dovie squeaks when Arachne grabs her arm.

“What a random proposal,” Arachne shakes her head.

Sophie grins at Arachne, “Well, end of the world. No time for a ring.”

Obadiah looks up from his phone, “No. Who made them?”

Sophie moans happily, “I love honey and spice.”

Arachne reaches over, attempting to push Obadiah’s phone down to make him pay attention to the movie.

Obadiah puts his phone away when Arachne silently calls him out for not paying attention to the movie

Sophie lifts her brow, “How..many bullets does that gun have..”

“Don’t worry they turned on infinite ammo,” Kai murmurs to 2soph and leans in to kiss her cheek lightly.

Sophie snickers.

Sophie giggles, “He killed a stuffy.”

Dovie gasps quietly at Obadiah. “Where did you get pie?!”

Sophie says “Break my ass…huh.

Kai waves at Alice and snickers at Sophie’s giggling, he shakes his head and points at Alice, “You’re late you son of a bitch, I ought to break your ass!”

“I mean,” Obadiah he shrugs a little, handing off the pie. He knows what’s coming, might as well cut to the chase

Alice slips in quietly, trying not to interrupt with too much noise. Once she reaches the chairs, she sets down three MASSIVE buckets of popcorn, spacing them out so people can get at them without too much trouble. She sticks her tongue out at Kai in answer, hissing, “Shhh, there’s a movie on.”

“I threw it at him earlier,” Arachne tells Dovie, leaning over to snatch a few wings out of the box. “Does anyone want lemon pepper wings””

Sophie perks up, “Lemon pepper? Oh you goddess.”

Dovie finishes the pie, licking her lips. “Thanks, darling!”

Obadiah takes a wing and starts sucking that meat off the bone like a champ. Time to fill that emotional void that only wings can.

“Yoink,” Kai says as he gets up and grabs a few wings and a beer and plops down by Sophie, he salutes Arachne with a chicken wing.

Sophie shakes her head, “David is mad.”

Kai offers a wing up to Sophie to eat and kisses her on the cheek, a little grin on his lips, “Pretty good huh?”

Sophie accepts the wing and gives Kai a playful peck, “Damn delicious.”

Sophie glances at Kai, “You pig.”

Sophie says “Daddy …is ..huh.

Obadiah looks over from the movie to Alice, “Our minions still need to fight like Pokemon.” His attention drifts back to the movie

Kai nods to Sophie, “Dad has some problems, no wonder that daughter is all fucked up,” he laughs a little.

Kai nods to Arachne, “Very cool. Are you high?” he asks Arachne, grinning over at her curiously.

Arachne tilts her head to the side, listening to Annabelle’s hushed thoughts with a faint twist of her mouth. Her hoodie is unzipped enough to show her t-shirt at Kai, clearly quite relaxed and sedated with drugs because of her near-death injuries.

“That’s what I’m talking about. It’s the end of the world, get drunk,” Kai laughs and rolls his eyes at the howling.

Obadiah pulls Dovie in as he watches the movie, drumming lightly on his shoulder with his fingers, but not like, distractingly so

Sophie cringes, “The..the fuck.”

Arachne says “… Was that the father and daughter???

Dovie leans on Obadiah, looking a little sleepy but pleased.

Sophie says “Yep.

Arachne seems genuinely confused, turning her head to look at Sophie with quiet horror.

Sophie gives Arachne a nod and stares at the screen, “And now she has …her period or was that blood?”

Arachne merely returns her eyes back to the screen, clearly unable to process Sophie’s question. She seems mystified, or more likely, simply dazed and lethargic.

Sophie gasps softly.

Kai bursts out laughing when the man is found hung, “Hooooly.”

Alice says “Reminds me of Heathers, kinda.

Arachne winces as the hanged man tumbles down the stairs.

Sophie can’t help the laugh that follows as he topples down the stairs.

Kai breaks into another fit of laughter when his body goes tumbling down the stairs.

“Shoot her in the face!” Kai calls to the movie with a laugh.

Arachne reaches over to grasp at Obadiah’s arm, shaking it.

Alice says “Oh…

Arachne says “Oh…

Sophie says “Oh..

Kai bursts out laughing again when she says ‘Oh’.

Obadiah grins broadly. “Oh.”

Dovie hides behind Obadiah’s shoulder.

Obadiah looks at his phone then looks at Dovie and then back to Arachne

Alice winces, hiding her eyes behind her fingers.

“Daaaamn right in the head!” Kai laughs when the guy’s brains get blown out.

Arachne inhales a slow breath, barely suppressing a pained noise after a blurted giggle at Obadiah’s look.

Sophie says “Go SCIENCE!

Dovie says “Mmmmm!

Dovie nibbles from the chicken wings.

Arachne steals a chicken wing from Dovie

Sophie says “Nooo..the vials!

Dovie’s pouts looking sad as the fresh wing is pilfered from her. She licks her fingers and pokes Obadiah.

Kai cackles when the scientist and cure both get got, he shakes his head and leans against Sophie.

Arachne gives another wing to Dovie, this one loaded with more dry-rub lemon pepper seasoning.

Dovie takes the wing happily.

Obadiah shakes his head slowly at Dovie. “Nothing to worry about. No need to fret.”

Sophie sighs, “The romantic music is playing…this is so beautiful.”

Kai scowls and throws a gnawed on chicken wing to the west in the general direction of the wolves’ howls.

Obadiah says “They are fiesty this evening

Arachne says “Extremely fussy.

Obadiah nods to the two Fairchilds and remains silent for the rest of the movie

Arachne says “… Was that report correct?

Alice sits up stock still, eyes wide.

Arachne says “That genuinely is … unsettling. How do you differentiate between it at the satyrs coming out in the mists?

Annabelle turns over to Alice, finger still on her own ear, looking at the Warden with a tinge of lined worry on her forehead.

Alice returns Annabelle’s gaze, and is clearly trying to decide something, turmoil behind her eyes.

“Well. That was a movie,” Kai nods a couple of times and leans in to kiss Sophie softly on the lips.

Sophie says “That was a trip..

Sophie returns Kai’s kisses and smiles, “Would you kill me if I had the bug?”

As the credits roll, Arachne shifts within her seat with some difficulty, nodding in agreement to Sophie. “Quite a trip,” She murmurs, reaching out a hand for someone to help the injured, sedated queen up.

Shiloh says “Such a good movie.

Alice is already on her way to standing, and she reaches out for Arachne, offering a hand to help her off the chair.

“Definitely honey,” Kai nods at Sophie and strokes her cheek lightly, “I’d put one right in your head, right here, so you wouldn’t even feel it,” he taps her in the middle of the forehead.

Annabelle closes, her eyes, wrestling with her own state of injury before shooting herself up with a hop and a sigh.

Arachne curves her hand around Alice’s with a thankful smile cresting her lips, slowly rising to her feet with a muted noise of pain suppressed low in her throat.

Sophie sighs, “You’re so damn sweet.” She gives Kai a little wink.

Alice holds Arachne’s hand firmly until the woman is stable, then maybe a moment or two longer, before she lets go and glances out towards the road. “I hope you’re one of those types who recovers quick, Miss Arachne,” she mentions, though it’s half-hearted, the reports of the scouts distracting her. “Would hate to see you like this for too long.”

nods in agreement to Sophie, “I know. Is there another one or do you want to get out of here?” Kai asks Sophie, leaning in for another quick kiss.

Sophie smiles at Kai, “Did ya drive? I’m good to head home.”

Shiloh hops to his feet, brushing his hands off before moving back toward his vehicle.

Kai nods to Sophie, “Yep. Want to meet there?” he asks as he gets up and pulls his shoulders back until his upper spine pops.

Alice collects one of the vast, gargantuan buckets, resolving to take it home for later. She nods to Dovie, offering a big, toothy smile. “Yeah, I brought way too much, anyway. Help yourself.” To Arachne, she wonders, “Don’t suppose I could convince you to give me a ride, your majesty?”

Arachne does not ask, for she is a queen, and Alice loves her. “You may,” she grants, just taking popcorn as she gingerly moves ahead. Alice better help her.

Kai gives a wave to those that remain and leads Sophie out to the street, “Good night everyone!”

Dovie hugs Arachne back.

Alice helps, of course, and she would even if Arachne weren’t a queen. “Huh,” she teases, asking, “That corporation isn’t gonna help you to your car? Guess the Warden will have to do it.”

Alice says “Order, I’m fairly certain that scout report involves the 63rd Legionnaire who ambushed me yesterday.

“Because they know I do not tolerate being touched well, except for when I’ve been given lovely high-grade sedatives and float on cloud nine,” Arachne confesses toward Alice, sowing her darkest secrets that Dovie knows too well. “Now, where is my chauffeur taking you?”
