(Lillian’s Sunday evening odd encounter(Amber):Amber)
[Sun Aug 17 2025]
At Harbor View Park/span
It is afternoon, about 85F(29C) degrees, and there are a few wispy white clouds in the sky. The mist is heaviest At Hawthorn and Lake/span
(Your target falls into some of the subway tunnels only to realize there are other creatures down here in the dark with them.

As the pair relax (or try to, given various injuries) under the tree, there’s a shift in the ground. Amber sits up from where she’d been leaning against Lillian, confused. A moment later, a sinkhole falls through directly under Lillian that swallows her up into the darkness below.
Lillian has the wherewithal to yelp and do little else. She attempts to turn and land cat-like on her feet with however long she has before reaching solid ground again.
It’s hard without being able to see much in the darkness, but Lillian manages to right herself a few moments before landing. The ground seems clear, other than the dirt, so getting a more steady footing doesn’t take much. Amber calls out from the blindingly bright hole above, “Lil? You okay?”
“Yes! Just… dark and dirty down here!” Lillian calls back up towards Amber. She does have some degree of night vision, at least, so she looks back down, gives her eyes time to adjust, and tries to make out whatever is around her. “I wish I had your eyes right now!”
“Do you need me down there? Or can I do more from here?” Amber calls from above as Lillian’s eyes adjust. It seems to be an old subway tunnel, but the lack of light or people suggests it’s been long abandoned. There’s no visible damage, other than the roof she just fell through, but there is some grime and mold. The exits and tunnels aren’t even blocked off, though there’s no telling where they connect.
“Uh, I don’t know! It’s a subway tunnel!” Lillian calls back. “If you don’t have anything to use as a rope, maybe it would help if you’re down here! To help me find a way out!” She’s carefully considering some of the exits, but doesn’t move until Amber replies.
Amber takes a deep breath, starting to climb her way down. She’s not nearly so agile, and she’s clinging to roots and dirt until she’s lowered herself as far as she can go. Meanwhile, there’s a scraping, snorting, snuffling sound coming from both subway tunnels. Multiple sources. Amber hasn’t dropped yet.
Lillian holds a hand up in Amber’s direction. “Wait! I hear shit. Let me make sure it’s safe first. Just, um, hang tight!” She goes in the direction of whichever direction the sounds are closest, figuring if it’s anything bad it’s best she confront them one at a time instead of letting both get to her at once.
Amber kind of just dangles there, torn between the discomfort of dangling and the comfort of being out of the sun. As Lillian gets closer to one of the tunnels, she sees a half dozen strange forms in the darkness. Mostly wads of flesh with misshapen limbs. A few have claws or fangs, but in all they seem like the abandoned experiments of some mortal fleshcrafter. Similar sounds come from the opposite side of the tunnel, but slow enough that there’s time to handle each set separately. Probably.
Lillian unsheathes her obsidian rapier and charges at the half-dozen forms in front of her to meet them. She figures it’s best to be decisive and what could possibly be more decisive than violence?
It’s hard to fight when injured, as Lillian is. She takes one out, but a smaller one latches onto her ankle and makes it harder to fend off the others as they close in. It’s not impossible to keep fighting them off, but there’s no way to get them all now before the rest arrive unless Lillian figures some way to get an advantage.
Lillian is in a panic. What can she possibly do to save herself? In the moment, she thinks about all of her practice with trying to shift, and how she hasn’t actually pulled it off yet. But, like, she’s gotta try something, right? So she shifts. And, for the first time, turns into a sleek-coated panther. A very angry and murderous sleek-coated panthers. Claws and fangs out.
The monsters weren’t expecting this. Neither was Amber, still dangling from above. The creatures are clumsy, and the speed of a panther cleans them up quickly. Only the few left behind and Lillian(Jaguar) should be free to explore and escape. “Behind you!” shouts Amber.
Lillian(Jaguar) turns around quickly and roars at the creatures coming for her. She dashes to them and pounces between each with yet more teeth and claws. She is determined to be -thorough- and ensure that none of them will be getting back up to fuck with her after she finishes this.
“Kick-ass!” Amber cheers before dropping down. Not one for stamina, she lands in a crumpled pile before taking a minute to stand again. The monsters are all gone, so it’s just a matter of judging the right way out.
Lillian(Jaguar) looks at Amber and happily bounds over to her. The panther rubs up against and around Amber with her bloodied face and then dashes off in the direction of one of the exits.
Between Lillian(Jaguar) and Amber, there are enhanced senses aplenty. It isn’t hard to find the one path where fresh air blows and follow it back up to the surface, a few blocks away.
Lillian(Jaguar) is probably going to stay a big ol’ panther until Amber lets her back into her car because it’d be embarrassing to be naked out on the streets.
