(Matthew’s Birthday Celebration for Malin)

[Sun Sep 21 2025]

50 MEGA Strike Bowling Alley: 59The b95owling l31anes/b/b>This room stretches wide with row upon row of polished lanes, each flanked by its own vinyl-upholstered booth and low table, all gleaming brand new. A long row of racks storing bowling balls of every size and color divide the bar and grill from the steady rhythm of rolling strikes. Black lights bathe each lane in an ethereal glow, pins glowing green, while brighter fluorescents keep the rest of the space crisp and inviting. Every surface has a spic-and-span quality, yet beneath the sheen hums the soul of a bowling alley; made for laughter, leisure, and the kind of night The Dude himself would settle into for the night./span>65F(18C) degrees. The mist is heaviest At Birch and Woodcrest/span>Esme retrieves a pair of the shoes to change out of her converse which she is definitely probably wearing socks on underneath of. “Oh I’m fully prepared for an ass kickin’.” She laughs to Dovie and nods to Malin. “So far so good. How’ve things been with you?”

“Perfect, babe,” Malin expresses to Matthew, and she begins to slip out of her boots. “The competition might be small! I’ve gotten a lot of birthday wishes, but also a lot of ‘I’m out of town on Sundays’ texts, which is totally understandable. I’m just really looking forward to bowling and hoping I don’t throw it as if it was a long range weapon.”

Dovie waves to Obadiah. “Hey!”

Malin replies to Esme with, “Oh, I’ve been really great, thank you,” in a sincere tone, and those blue-grey eyes glittering to have a genuine proof that she is doing very well. “But I don’t have to lead anyone but myself, so I’ve got it easy!”

Malin offers up a smile to Obadiah, and says, “Well, well, if it isn’t Nobie, all dressed up and ready to bowl.”

“Hey, Obes.” Esme waves when he comes in with a grin. She straightens up, wiggling her toes a bit in the unfamiliar shoes. “I’m happy t’ hear it!” She tells Malin, drawing her hair up and back into a quick ponytail.

Matthew says “Yes!

Malin begins lacing up the rented shoes, gaze lifting up from the footwear as Teagan arrives. “Hello, Teagan. Welcome. How are you today? Are you a good bowler?”

Esme asides, “Gabe said he’s runnin’ a lil late but he’ll be here.” She upnods to Teagan and Amber in greeting as they comes in.

“I think that skirt is safe,” Malin says to Amber after a quick assessment. “Not in any danger attire-wise today, I fear. Other than people might hit on you.”

Matthew is waving Amber down and then points towards the bowling shoes, “The fees are covered, and if you need bowling shoes, I’ve arranged for those as well, should have your size!”

Dovie waves to Teagan and Amber also.

Obadiah smiles to all of everyone, “Friends. Family, Countrymen,” he greets everyone with a smile, and bobs his head to Malin, “I thought I would wear the brand new orange shirt just for your birthday.” He gives her a wink then looks to Esme and Dovie, and delivers dryly, “I will refrain, lest I be tempted to cheat as I am want to do.”

Obadiah glances over to Amber and in the most straight faced deadpan musterable by the chaotic fae says, “Hey baby. Are you an angel? Cause you are stiring all sorts of desires.”

Matthew grins at Obadiah, taking in his bright and formal attire. “Hey, you look like you’re ready for prom or something!” The bowling shoes are pointed out, “make sure you wear some bowling shoes before the games get going.”

Meandering into the bowling alley, Teagan has her phone in one hand and the other tucked into a jacket pocket. She looks up as Malin greets her, sending off another message before tucking the phone (for the moment) away. “Honestly? No idea. I haven’t done it since I was like.. twelve? But… It’s worth a try, right?” And she angles her way over to the counter to… stare at the shoes for a few long moments. Because bowling shoes are in that weird category of horrifying but also you kind of want to find an excuse to wear them all the time because they look kind of neat?

Amber lifts a hand in greeting as she shuffles in, maybe ruining the floors with her non-regulation footwear. As Matthew mentions, she glances down at her shoes before giving an apologetic shrug, “Sorry.” Then she pauses as Obadiah addresses her, giving a crooked smirk after, “You’re lucky I’m single right now. Nobody to thwap you for that, and I’m lazy.”

“What? I thought…” Obadiah starts to ask Amber but then holds up his hand. “Time and place.”

Matthew shrugs at Amber, laid back about the floors beyond pointing out that these are probably the shoes to wear. “For sure, lazy Sundays are important.”

Malin finishes tying a neat bow on both of her bowling shoes, and then stands up straight again. It took her a while, but she’s back to paying attention again.

Obadiah gets his shoes on and then moves to loiter with Esme and Dovie, before commenting to Matthew, “I put an order in for 20 of those gummy cubes with Ambrose. MegaBlue will be blue for sure.”

Teagan finally gets a pair of shoes in her size and hands over her sneakers. She pads over to a chair and sits down to put on the very stiff (but also less likely to see her land on her butt!) shoes, lacing them up snug. At least the green only *slightly* clashes with her blue top.

Dovie rubs her hands together, looking out at the bowling lanes. “How are the games going to work? Everyone keep your own scores, or one at a time?”

Malin beams brightly over at Obadiah, “It looks good!” she says of his new shirt. “And if you don’t cheat…” She glances between Obadiah and Dovie, and continues in a conspiratorial manner, “Then I’m going to assume you are an evil doppelganger.” A nod follows, but she snickers at the pickup line Amber receives. Then another nod is given to Teagan. “It’s been a while for me, too!”

“Ooh that’ll be fun.” Esme asides to Obadiah about the cubes with a chuckle to Malin’s comment about Obadiah cheating but she does seem curious about the answer to Dovie’s question

Amber shuffles over to find shoes her size to swap into. “Happy birthday again,” she calls out as she attempts to balance while putting them on.

Matthew flashes Obadiah a grin, “Oh, nice, I wanna try those out. Oh, and I told you Buck’s on the case right, for MPM’s next decorating run.” He doesn’t really elaborate further in present company, winking at the Mercer before attention is shifted to Dovie. “Well, I think one card will work and everyone can throw their name on one. There’re more just in case it’s teams… or multiple games going,” he explains. “But we can get one going now if everyone here is ready and watns to.”

Dovie nods eagerly at Matthew. “Yes, ready!”

Malin listens to Matthew and then nods to him. “I am ready,” she confirms after Dovie.

“MPM is the greatest idea yet,” Obadiah says with a firm nod to Matthew, clearly in agreement. “I am ready to go. Let’s do it.”

Teagan rolls to her feet and ambles over to the others. She’s still wearing her jacket at the moment, but it’s a good spot to shove her hands into. “Let’s go.”

“I’m ready t’ give it ah whirl.” Esme agress with the others.

Malin goes, “Oh, I do need a ball.”

Matthew nods at everyone and then reaches for a score card, “Okay…” and then he points towards the racks of bowling balls, “Everyone can grab one there, but… oh yeah, I got a ball for you Malin, but I got distracted, one second!”

Matthew says “Or if people want to buy their own balls, there are some for sale.

Malin says to Matthew, “Oh, thank you. It’s a totally novelty style looking one because — like everything in this world to Obie, it is ‘blue.'” As she accepts the ball from Matthew, she says, “If you can draw your legs to your chest and have strong arms to hold them there and don’t mind being fingered, then you can be a novelty bowling ball, too!”

Esme tilts her head to try and get look at the bowling balls.

Malin hmms softly, taking a moment to consider what she just said.

Dovie holds her bowling ball with two hands.

Esme flashes Gabriel a smile when he comes in. “Just in time for tha first game.” She wanders over to the rack and picks out a greenish one after a few tests.

Obadiah says “I was really tempted by the purple one, I am not going to lie

Gabriel walks in with a wave to everyone, “Hopefully I’m only fashionably late and not terrible so.”

“Hello, Gabriel,” Malin greets Gabriel after her, probably, accidental double entendre about novelty bowling balls. “We’re just getting started. There’s shoes here, they probably have your size,” is said as she nods to the rented pairs available here on the floor.

“Okay, so,” Matthew reaches for a score card while people sort out their bowling balls. There’s a whole rack of them running up and down the room, free for use, one need only pick the best one for them. “Let me just figure out our order of bowling. We’ll keep it simple and play as individuals, no team.”

Dovie nods at Matthew.

Teagan looks back over her shoulder and slips out to go take a peek at the balls for sale herself!

Teagan returns, ball-less. In every meaning of the term. “Okay they all look good.” A brief pause, “And I say that with blue being my favorite color.” She almost sounds disappointed that it wasn’t an easy decision and shuffles over to the rack of balls to find one that she can actually lift comfortably.

Malin holds up the blue bowling ball she has, turning it slowly and then saying, “Bowling balls sounds like a medical condition that would hurt as much as tennis elbow, if not worse.”

Matthew says “Okay!

Matthew look around and then asks, “Can someone trash that stack of score cards, we’ll just work off this one,” he reasons.

“OKay, the order is on the score card, starting with Malin,” Matthew informs the group. And he moves to the first bowling lane.

Matthew then points towards the bowling rules, “If anyone needs a reminder of how to play, the rules are there.”

Malin listens to Matthew and then nods at him.

Teagan does get her own score card. Because if you get an amazing score, you want to have one to take home and show off. Even if you could just fake it. She does finally find a ball (it’s a mottled red, not blue at all! woe) that doesn’t strain her too much and carries it on over to plop down at one of the booths.

Amber has been distracted a bit by her phone, tap-tapping away. But she does kind of go with the flow over to the first lane.

Gabriel slides over to the bowling lane with the rest of the crowd, taking a moment to look over all of the rules written out.

“Seems easy enough I think.” Esme murmurs and then watches to see how Malin does on her first go!

Teagan does slip out of her jacket while she waits, draping it over the seat behind her. She’s gonna need the arm flexibility! Unless she granny rolls the ball on her turn.

Malin glances around and then goes, “Oh, do I go first?” She looks at the ball, then glances about some more. “Okay.” She lines one foot up with that centre dot, and then pretends to proceed to know what she’s doing.

Dovie/i screams out a cheer for Malin when she gets a strike!!!

Teagan claps! Because apparently, Malin DOES know what she’s doing!

“Woo! Nice!” Esme claps with the others.

Gabriel lets out a low whistle and applauds the strike, “Damn.”

Malin is absolutely wide-eyed over her success, and then clears her throat, trying to act like she totally meant to accomplish that. “Heh… I mean… Yeah, that’s how you do it, folks,” she manages, blushing a little, and going again.

Amber claps for Malin, done with her phone for the moment. She does look a bit tired, though.

“Ayyyyyyyyyy!” Matthew claps his hands, “There you go, even the ball knows it’s your birthday!”

Malin watches as the bowling ball rolls, and she asks, “Do you go another time for a spare after that? Or is it a one time thing for a bonus roll after a strike? It’s been too long for me to remember.”

Dovie steps up to the plate, metaphorically, the bowling ball looking a bit too heavy for her, despite her trying!

“Just the one time,” Matthew explains to Malin, “if you get the strike, then it’s a bonus roll, no spares.” He nods and watches how Dovie does next. Some combo of five pins go down after all is said and done, and he claps.

Malin claps for Dovie as she knocks down some pins. “We’re naturals!” Then she pauses and says, “At bowling.”

Dovie curtsies and takes a seat.

“Good go, Dovie!” Esme claps, looking over to where her ball is resting and then back toward the pins to watch Teagan and see if she can keep picking up some pointers.

Obadiah mutters to the group, “Be right back. Need to make a pickup.”

Malin looks over at Esme, and then she leans in to give some pro-tips.

“Next up is Teagan,” Matthew says and then look towards the bar, “Anyone want drinks? Been hard to get all the shipments in, but we got my favorite, PBR, some whiskey, and sodas.”

“Would love some drinks,” Amber comments with a dry sort of sarcasm, making bite-y motions with her teeth after.

Malin nods sagely to Esme.

“I’ll take ah PBR.” Esme offers to Matthew, leaning in to listen to Malin’s whisper. Which prompty results in the blonde laughing, giving Malin a bright grin. “I’m definitely gonna have t’ try that.”

“PBRs for the win,” Malin says to Matthew, and then she grins to Esme in return.

Matthew continues lingering at the bar, and ends up making an executive decision, PBRs for everyone’s win.

“Me?” Teagan was hoping she had a little longer before her turn! “Uhhhhh,” she says to the drinks. “Surprise me?” And she gets up with her ball, shuffles up… and at the last minute totally decides to granny roll it between her legs! At least her jeans are decently shapely. But she totally does not have the arms for heaving even a lighter ball.

Malin expresses, “Thank you, Matthew,” to Matthew as she receives a beer.

Gabriel lifts the can of PBR in silent thanks to Matthew.

Esme says “Thanks!

Matthew lifts the beer in cheer, he’s also snagged some pizza on the way back, munching down on a slice.

Malin tells Amber, “You just have to pretend it’s got blood in it, or something.”

Dovie gasps at Teagan. “AMAZING!”

Malin wolf whistles as Teagan finds success. “Go, Teagan!”

Matthew tosses a beer can in Obadiah’s direction, hopefully he catches it!

Esme watches in disbelief as the granny roll causes a strike. “That’s amazing! Damn.” She claps.

Amber leans away from Malin to give space after passing over the extra can.

Apparently, granny rolling works! Sure the ball takes a while to get down the lane, but you can totally aim better. You just have to hope you don’t put any English, as it were, on the ball. And Teagan doesn’t! She does have to wait for it to return up the ball return to do it again, but hey. She leaves the ball there for her next go and returns to her seat, blushing a little to retrieve her PBR. The can is stared at for a moment before she gives a little shrug and opens it to take a sip. Yes. A sip. Of PBR. Horrifying.

Matthew cheers as Teagan hits that strike, “Ayyyyy,” he’s calling it again just in time for the sinful sound of an unopened beercan to go scattering to the ground. He turns, wide-eyed at Obadiah. “Oh shit… sorry man, I thought I tossed that clean, my fault!”

Smack! Obadiah is not paying attention to Matthew, he has something important to show Dovie, and the PBR whacks him straight in the head. “Ow!” he exclaims reaching for the beer to hold against the goose egg like an ice pack. “I’m fine. I’m fine.”

Esme knocks back a bit more of her PBR, setting the can down and moving to retrieve her bowling ball. “Alllright let’s see how this goes…”

Dovie gasps as Obadiah gets beaned by a can of PBR. “Oh no! Be careful!”

Esme hefts her ball up, mutters something to it in…Mandarin? And then gives it a whirl.

Esme uses an a bowling ball: [GUTTER BALL!45 This flashes on the screen as an animation of the ball goes rolling across the screen down the gutter, leaving all pins standing.] +0

Matthew/i/span visibly winces, Ooof. “It’s alright Esme,” he encourages, “You got this.”

As each player uses their own tactics for bowling, Malin is observing and appears to be having fun. She’s nursing her beer, but almost spits it out when Obadiah gets hit with one. Instead of showering anyone nearby with the cheap, water downed alcohol, she chokes on it a little as it goes down the wrong pipe, but she’s still laughing through it all. The can is used to point at Amber, “You didn’t want to get hit with the beer. Good plan.” As Esme gets a gutter ball, she goes, “Ohhhh… Esme is demonstrating the opposite end of bowling for us, so that we can get a better understanding of how it all works. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, Kingpin.”

Gabriel winces as Obadiah takes a can to the head, offering him a still full can, “Here’s an extra to make up for it. Won’t do me much good anyway.”

Esme grimaces as she watches the ball immediately curve off into the gutter. “Welp, let’s see if I can do that again.” She waits for the ball to come back up and retrieves it, laughing with Malin’s words. “Yep, definitely intended. Showin’ you all what -not- to do.” She agrees.

Esme uses a bowling ball: [45The video screen flashes showing a bowling ball bouncing down the bowling lane, it launches itself into the air and comes crushing down on two pins] + 2/i/span

Dovie waves to Charlotte

“I’ll take it.” Esme chuckles, upnodding to Charlotte and retreating back so the next person can go.

Amber offers Malin a thumbs-up, largely quieting down now as she watches the others.

Malin is grinning ever so widely as Esme goes with the Swede’s claim. With Charlotte arriving, the birthday girl is smiling even wider and she goes, “Hey!” to her BFF in greeting. “You look great. I’m so glad you could make it. Esme is showing us how not to bowl. We’re learning a lot.”

“Hey Charlotte!” Matthew calls out in Charlotte’s direction, “You wanna slot in on the game or you gonna watch and heckle?” He’s grinning at her, clearly fond as he indicates his favorite cheap beer to the rich girl, “You want one?”

Obadiah downs the PBR in one go and nods to Gabriel, “Thanks man. Good to have you back.” When Charlotte walks in he smiles broadly at her, still holding his beer can shaped ice pack to his forehead, “Hey there! One of my favorite messy bitches!” A true term of endearment today

When one runs on a combination of Rich Kid Time and Fae Time, it is literally impossible to be less than an hour late to any fete they attend. Here Charlotte is at last, though, swanning in like she isn’t fucking rude. She returns the nods and waves and makes a beeline for Malin, wrapping her friend up in a hug and kissing her cheek. “Malin, darling, happy birthday. I forgot to get you a gift, but my presence should make up for it at least in part.”

“It’s just the first… round? go? Uh-” Teagan thinks for a moment, then remembers, “frame! You’ve plenty of time to get there, Esme.” She’s trying to be encouraging. Another sip of her PBR and she looks at the can. “Did you know the glass bottles have cards under the caps. Like Ace of Spades, Two of Clubs, stuff like that? Lotta people claim it was to like, enable gambling when it was illegal in places but really it was just a really smart marketing gimmick. Buy a twelve pack, realize you’ve got some cards, so you go man, I should really try to get ’em all…” She’s not really talking directly *to* anyone. Nor does she seem to mind if she’s only actually talking to the can of PBR she’s holding. As if it doesn’t know its cousin’s own history.

“Your friendship is a wonderful gift in and of itself,” Malin assures Charlotte, and those overly full lips are still held wide with outer corners lifted in a genuinely happy grin. Her arms slip around her friend to give her a warm embrace, and the European kiss to the cheek is received, and then she proceeds to press one in return. “Do you bowl?”

After greeting Charlotte like the mean girl Obadiah is at heart, he looks to Matthew and Malin, “Whose turn is it?”

Matthew look sat the card then announces, “Amber, your go.”

Charlotte waves at someone, calling over “You know it” as she chats with the birthday girl. “I don’t. What if I broke a nail?” She’s one hundred percent earnest with this statement, for once, no sarcasm detected. “Plus I think those balls are full of germs.”

Charlotte waves at Obadiah, calling over “You know it” as she chats with the birthday girl. “I don’t. What if I broke a nail?” She’s one hundred percent earnest with this statement, for once, no sarcasm detected. “Plus I think those balls are full of germs.”

“After Amber is Obie, Gabriel then me.” Matthew points to the score card, “Can keep track, make sure I’m not cheating anyone with too many or too few points!”

Amber gives another thumbs-up. “Great day to be immune to sick,” she comments as she hefts a rental ball and lets it fly with the form of someone who knows what the form should be but maybe hasn’t ever put it into practice before.

Malin gasps as Amber has success, twice in a row. “Dayum!”

Obadiah nods to Matthew and then applauds Amber, “Hot damn girl! I need to give you more of my bad pickup lines.”

Matthew throws his hands up, sloshing a little beer, “Damn, that’s a pro baller if I ever saw one.”

Charlotte laughs out loud at something that is said to her, and she turns says to Malin “Darling, I love you.”

Esme goes wide-eyed at Amber’s double strike, “That’s fuckin’ wild!” She claps.

Amber looks a little bit stunned as she straightens back up again, shuffling away, “Hang out around too many fae. The beginner’s luck just keeps rubbing off you nerds.” She does her best to shrink out of sight back into the back.

Gabriel blinks at the double strike, “Damn.. This is a lot closer than I expected.” then he looks to Esme’s score, “Well, for some people.”

Teagan looks up from her phone to blink at Amber’s double-strike. “Well, shit. That’s some beginner’s luck or I’m glad no one put bets on this.”

“I love you, too,” Malin says to Charlotte warmly, winking at her. “You can put up with my nonsense,” is stated next, and then she claps for Amber. “Let’s hear another pickup line, Obie!” gets called to Obadiah.

Esme gives a dramatic hmph, “I’ll catch up!” She insists and then waves to Chance when he comes in. “Hey, Chance! Good t’ see ya.”

“Yo chance!” Matthew calls toward Chance, spying him as he wanders in. “What’s up man?”

Esme gives a dramatic hmph, “I’ll catch up!” She insists and then waves to Chance when he comes in. “Hey, Chance! Good t’ see ya.” (repost cause I didn’t announce!)

Teagan does lean toward Gabriel and offers, in a lull when she doesn’t have to shout: “I don’t believe we’ve met? I’m Teagan.” She doesn’t offer a hand out or anything: no want to reach across people or risk anyone spilling their precious beers.

Obadiah looks over to Malin as he takes his ball and gets into position and starts to line up the ball with the pins. With a cheeky grin he turns his attention to Charlotte, sparing Amber any further cheesiness, and says, “Damn girl! Are you fae? Cause I gotta feeling I’mma bout to get lucky.” And then he throws the ball…

Matthew points towards some shoes, “You wanna get in on the game or observe?” he asks Chance, pointing towards the bowling, “We’re in the first frame, so still have time to throw you in the mix.”

Obadiah uses an a bowling ball: [STRIKE! STRIKE! STRIKE! 45Those words flash across the screen over an animation of a bowling ball shooting from a cannon, knocking all the pins over. (USE BONUS45)] + 10

“Obie, you’re better than such a pedestrian line” Charlotte/i sniffs as Obadiah tries to score with his balls. “Try harder.”

“A faeling I’m bouta get lucky!” Matthew echoes Obadiah’s pickup line almost immediately after, laughing. “That’s a good one. I’mma use it on the birthday girl next time I’m lookin for luck.”

“Welcome, Chance,” Malin says to Chance happily. “We’ve got room for more competitors if you want to play,” she assures to the newest Fairchild in this town, but then Obadiah is blessed with success of his bad pickup lines, and she gawks. “I need to use more bad pickup lines more often…”

Chance lifts a hand in a wave to those gathered as he wanders over toward the bowling lane where folks seem to be congregating. “Hey,” he says with a friendly grin. “Not too much. Heard that there was birthday bowling going down.” He calls over to Malin, “Happy Birthday!” As for whether he’s going to play or not? “I’ll watch this round. Maybe I’ll hop in if you do another.”

Malin smiles as Chance wishes her a happy birthday. “Thank you!”

Amber manages another smirk-grin at Obadiah’s line, grateful at least to have been spared it.

Obadiah uses an a bowling ball: [45The video screen flashes showing a bowling ball bouncing down the bowling lane, it launches itself into the air and comes crushing down on nine pins] +9/i/span

Esme mumbles something about everyone definitely cheating with all these strikes, but it’s in good humor.

Gabriel flashes Teagan a brief smile and introduces himself, “Gabriel Hawkins, a pleasure to properly meet you. I believe we’ve met, but usually under less than ideal circumstances.”

Malin applauds for Obadiah.

Obadiah will leave the spare joke unspoken given the 9 pins going down, leaving only one. With that he retreats back to the crowd to contemplate what life choices lead him to coming up with such bad pickup lines

“Heya, Esme,” Chance says as he wanders over in her general direction. “Lot of strikes, huh?” he grins. “Maybe it’s a bit of birthday luck.”

Gabriel rubs his hands together and collects a ball, “Well, let’s see how this goes.”

Matthew catches onto Gabriel and Teagan’s conversation, and he tacks on, “Oh, Hawkins, she’s gonna be performing at the Harvest festival next week, too.”

Dovie claps for everyone.

Esme grins to Obadiah, “I’m waitin’ for tha one you’re gonna use on the next godling ya meet.” She teases him about pick up lines, “Great job.” and nods to Chance, “Must be. Maybe mine’s just warmin’ up.” She laughs and looks to see how Gabriel does.

Obadiah wags his brows at Esme, and replies easily enough, “Hey baby, are you a goddess cause you are making all of my wishes come true.”

Teagan considers Gabriel, tilting her head slightly to consider. “You may have helped one of the times I was mistnapped?” She gives a bit of a grimace. “Good news is, it’s been over a week.” She gives him a thumbs up, however, as he goes up for his turn. Leaning back against her jacket where it’s been draped over the seat, she lifts her drink for another sip. “Mmm,” a nod to Matthew. “Still working on what I wanna do for my set. Talked to the other musician, said they do all original stuff, so no worries of any repeats or anything like that. It’ll be a very different tone though, so I guess early crowd and late crowd will have a different vibe.”

Malin claps for Gabriel. She laughs at Obadiah’s line over towards Esme.

Esme lets out a laugh with the pick up line and gives Obadiah a nudge. “Alright, I’ll allow it. And I might steal it.” She decides. “Good try!” She calls to Gabriel with a bit of a clap.

“Harvest festival? How quaint. Reminds me of home – Mother always dragged us to the one in town. My brother Jean nearly drowned bobbing for apples once – his shirt got caught in a snag on the barrel and it held him down, took a bit for anyone to noice.” WOW, Charlotte has really brought the fun today, huh? She grabs a seat, crossing one leg over the other as she watches the game, looking far more cheerful than her anecdotes would suggest she should be.

Malin laughs and says to Dovie, “The bowling balls get blessed through the pickup lines, it seems.”

Dovie blinks at Charlotte. “Oh goodness, he was okay though in the end?” she asks before nodding at Malin.

“Unfortunately, yes.” Charlotte replies smoothly to Dovie, then she investigates the drink selection. “He lived.”

Gabriel furrows his brow a little, “Well, that could’ve gone better. But I’ll take it.” with that he nods to Matthew, “I’ve seen her perform before, she’s very talented. Can’t wait to see it again.” then he turns back to Teagan to confirm, “Yes, a few weeks ago. Don’t think you were in any condition to remember it. Glad you recovered.”

Matthew gives Teagan a nod, but now it’s his turn to bowl. Gabriel’s initial gutter ball earns an apologetic look from the Montrose who collects his ball off the rack and begins to approach the lane. “Alright, let’s see how this goes…” and he attempts some of Amber’s good form and fortune for himself.

“I only have so many, and I am trying to think of a good vampire like that doesn’t involve sucking,” Obadiah/i/span says with a sigh, “And the more I try not to think about sucking the more I can only think about sucking, which leads me back to sucking a golf ball through a garden hose.”

Malin widens her eyes as Charlotte shares. “Maybe someone will have that happen to them at this one!” How delightful. Then she’s watching Matthew, and she applauds him when he manages to do better the second try.

Matthew gutters his first bowl, and then hits a strike on the spare. What a comeback indeed, he look a bit confused but then shrugs. “Yeah…” gets murmured towards Dovie.

Chance grimaces a little at Charlotte’s story. Then he tells Esme, “Clearly you’re just warming up,” as he glances over at the score card to see how everyone is doing. Laughing, he has to echo Dovie, “That was one heck of a turn-around.”

Dovie waves cheerily at Chance. “Chance!! There are you!”

“Here are me,” Chance confirms with a laugh, waving back at Dovie.

Dovie checks the current score card.

Malin gets herself lined up for the next try. “Okay…” She sucks her lower lip into her mouth just long enough to wet it.

Dovie/i claps for Malin, mouth open in shock. “Damn! What’s your secret birthday girl?!”

Teagan also leans forward to look at the score card. “Well, Amber’s got a strong start, but I think it’s too soon to sa- okay maybe Malin will win!” She claps again for the birthday girl!

Charlotte beams, applauding as she offers to Malin “I gave you a little boost.” as the woman gets a strike.

“Okay, I think everyone should keep track of their own score for a bit,” Matthew informs the group, “I just need to check on something,” and he wanders over towards the bar and grill.

Malin smiles happily at Dovie, Teagan, and Charlotte. “It’ll be a surprise to who wins to me!” Then she leans in to tell Dovie her trick.

Obadiah looks over at someone, “I knew I liked you for a reason.”

Dovie giggles at Malin, nodding. She stands, grabbing her bowling ball, which is still a little too heavy, but inspired by Malin, she whispers (still audible to her ball). “I’m gonna treat you good if you treat me good. Deal?” She nods at the bowling ball in her hands and takes Teagan’s cue, throwing it grandma-style. “Go team!”

“OH MY GOD IT WORKED!” Dovie/i stares, stunned.

Esme lets out a laugh, clapping for Dovie

Chance laughs and applauds Dovie. “Gotta show that ball a little appreciation!”

Malin nods to Dovie, and then she applauds, grinning. “It totally works!”

“The ladies do be rockin’ it,” Amber observes, giving some applause again.

There’s a grin toward Obadiah and Teagan shrugs a little. “Us fans of blue have to stick together, right?” She does cheer for Dovie and her fine, fine score. A strike is always good! The bonus? Just icing on the cake. (There is cake, right?) And then it’s her turn and she shuffles up to grab her mottled (not blue, but red, alas) ball from the lane to, yes: roll granny-style! If it ain’t broke…

Dovie cheers for Teagan’s granny style! If it works it works!

Malin whistles as Teagan does quite well again. “You got this!”

Chance lets out a low whistle, impressed. “Damn.”

Esme claps for someone asiding, “Alright, maybe the ball just didn’t understand me the first time. And I’ll be nicer.” She decides with a laugh as she readies for her turn.

Malin suggests Esme’s way, “Maybe it wants to be your equal!”

Dovie holds her bowling ball on her lap, stroking it on the top. “Good ball, good ball,” she coos, as if it were a puppy or a kitten.

“Oh!” Since the method of bowling is a bit slow, Teagan has to wait, in front of everyone! while it wobbles its way down the lane. And a few pins weeble, wobble, and DO fall down! In a reference that Teagan would never ever understand herself. After the second ALSO knocks them all down, she actually lets out a little cheer for herself and returns to her seat, grinning a little more broadly. “I think being nice to the ball does help,” she says to Esme.

Obadiah glances back to Teagan, impressed when she bowls two strikes and nods, “Team blue for sure.” He looks to Matthew, “Can we add Teagen to MegaBlue? I a sure we can find a spot for her… Well that ruins the boy band vibe.”

Esme retrieves her ball, nodding at all who are concurring. “Alright.” She takes her place in front of the ball. “Okay, all you gotta do is hit all tha pins and then uh, I’ll…wax you?” She started off strong but then faltered when it got to the equivalent exchange part. Her expression silently asks ‘do you even wax bowling balls? You have to, right?’ and then she tries to throw it.

“Eh?” Teagan looks up to Obadiah, then from him to Matthew. “Uhm.” A glance down to her phone, “I don’t sing anyway. But if you ever need violin on a track.” Doubt. “I’m happy to record?” She types out a text.

Dovie looks down at the bowling ball in her lap, “Don’t worry, I’ll wax you too.”

Esme watches the ball roll down the alley intently, “Much better!” She claps her hands together once. “I’m getting closer!” She agrees to Dovie as she moves aside.

Malin giggles helplessly, as she’s clapping for Esme. “She just likes to be well groomed!”

Gabriel looks over the score card and mumbles mostly to himself, “Well as long as I beat Esme..”

“Shame that,” Obadiah says to Teagan with a wink before looking at Esme and just shaking his head with a laugh. “Good job, Essy!”

Matthew returns from the bar and grill, more pizza and some pretzel on a plate. “What’re the scores looking like?”

Chance cheers Esme on and laughs, “There you go. Movin’ on up.”

Charlotte gives Malin a quick hug and a “Happy birthday again, darling” and then off she fucks, pulling her usual Irish Goodbye.

Matthew makes his way over, offering up a few slices of pizza and the pretzel trey for the group. “Oh, these pretzels are good,” he decides, going in for another round.

“So Amber is up, yeah?” Obadiah says glancing at the scorecard

Amber checks the time on her phone, then she rubs her eyes a bit, “Sorry. Hard to stay awake. My go?” She glances to Obadiah then to Matthew.

Matthew nods at Amber, “Yeah, your go.”

Malin tries the pretzel dish and she looks impressed. “Those are good,” she tells Matthew, and then looks to the sleepy Amber. “Show us how it’s done!” And then Amber does just that.

“I got 20, double strike, on the last one,” Teagan tells Matthew when he returns, not looking up from her phone. She’s grinning a little at the screen, drinking a bit more deeply of her beer. Now that she’s getting used to the water that’s heard of what beer once tasted like, she’s actually drinking more deeply!

Amber may be sleepy, but she does much the same as last time. Muscles loose, she lets the ball fly, then fly again almost as well the second time. She squints down the lane, “… huh.”

Obadiah nods, impressed to Amber, and then quickly steps up to the lane next to her, to take his turn to help moving things along. No cheesy line this time, just sports ball

Malin grins at Amber, and nods in agreement with Dovie.

Malin claps for Obadiah now. “He is definitely cheating!”

Obadiah puts away his 18 and then steps out of the way for Gabriel

Gabriel collects a different ball this time and steps up to the lane with a bit more determination, “Fingers crossed for better luck this time around.”

Esme grins as she claps for Amber and then Obadiah.

Malin winces as Gabriel’s next attempt is attracted to the gutter, just like many people’s minds in this city.

Matthew/i/span stares at Gabriel, “Bro,” he utters, “lemme give you some Faeluck!” And he marches over, clapping the man on the back. “You got this.”

Amber gives a small grin to Malin and Dovie both, offering a thumbs-up to Obadiah and his showing after.
