(Mizuki’s Tuesday morning odd encounter(Lykaia):Lykaia)
[Tue Nov 4 2025]
On Washington Avenue/span>morning/span>39F(3C) degrees, and there are a few wispy white clouds in the sky. The mist is heaviest At Plymouth and Sycamore/span>(Your target comes upon an NPC being targeted by a group of supernatural hunters or a lone vigilante. Lykaia steps a little more along down the street, leading the way along the patrol together with Mizuki. And it is just as the same woman that’s just rode through disappears around another corner that another figure runs in and just rams right into Mizuki, potentially toppling them both over to the ground. The figure lets out a yelp, and lies splayed out on the ground, quickly twisting around and looking up at Mizuki and Lykaia.
Mizuki lets out a small gasp as she gets rammed and stumbles back, landing on the floor on her buttocks. “Ouch! What the hell was that thing?” she complains, glaring at the figure that knocked her down. After a few seconds, she pushes herself up with a wince, rubbing her side from the sudden pain.
The figure makes a little grimace at Mizuki and flashes tippy teeth at her. “You will know to be more careful, human!” The figure seethes, gaze with masculine features but something does look wrong. The flashing just feels like it lacks something that’s dangerous, something that would come across as threatening. The figure did, after all, just topple to the ground and looks… physically weak.
“Cut that bullshit, no one gives a shit.” Then comes from Lykaia. “Answer the question.” She on the other hand, draws the blade from its sheath.
Mizuki looks curiously at the creature. “I am not the one who should be careful. I am not the one running through the streets,” she says to the creature still lying on the ground. Then she glances at Lykaia, noticing her blade in hand. “Do you think it is dangerous?” she asks, her tone calm but alert.
“It’s just another vampire. Stake it through the heart and-” Lykaia answers Mizuki before the man simply says out loud “Don’t! Look, I’ve got some freaks after me that are trophy hunting. They’re telling they would have so much fun putting my teeth into a box and to make sure I should run quickly. They are freaks just looking to hunt someone like me for their own enjoyment. My sire wouldn’t be happy! Surely we could trade favor for favor if you help me lose them or keep me safe until my sire can get me, right?”
Mizuki turns her head, reaching for her holster. “So we kill it and…” Her words are cut short as the creature suddenly speaks, interrupting both of them. Mizuki turns her gaze toward it, curiosity flickering in her half-lidded eyes. “And how did you end up in that situation? They just want to hunt you for fun? That does not sound very trustworthy to me,” she says in a calm but serious tone.
“Not for New Haven, they might want to leave him alive but teethless which would lead to starvation.” Lykaia says, staring at the vampiric man that looks up at the two of them with wide eyes. “New Haven has a few no killing rules. Technically you can just fine but it is going to make you look bad to the general populace.” The man interrupts again “Ladies?” And Lykaia shrugs. “How do you think it is best to proceed on this.” A red van comes driving down along the street very distantly in the north. But that may just be meaningless.
Mizuki reaches for her chin, thinking how to proceed. “In my opinion he does not seem to be a menace to us. A vampire should have very good reflexes; the fact he trampled me means he was probably not looking ahead but behind.” She yawns softly before continuing. “If New Haven has strict rules against killing, we should try to talk without pointing our weapons, but keep enough distance to use them if he makes a move.” She speaks from the perspective of someone used to saving lives in all kinds of situations. “What do you think? Can we trust you not to try anything if we do not have you at weapon point? I advise you my superior will not hesitate to cut you down if you try anything.” She directs the words at the creature, assuming Lykaia will not allow it to attack either of them.
“He’s probably been neutralized. Silver grenades used to strip a super from their supernatural ability.” Lykaia answers evenly, looking at Mizuki. For now, nothing seems to be happening. The street is quiet and no one notices the figure atop one of the roofs taking up position somewhere, or the drone that’s flying overhead. The man makes a few quick nods, and rises up to his feet. “They’re just some supernatural hunter freaks, just because I accidentally killed one of their girlfriends when I was feeding on her! Can you believe that? And I spent a full month preparing her for it! He should have been happy I didn’t just drain him, too. He was oh so desperate when he ran in on us thinking she’d be cheating on him. Pathetic!”
Mizuki can see Lykaia make a shallow exhale, a just barely concealed sigh.
Mizuki sighs. “How is it possible to accidentally kill someone? Do you not feel their vitals while feeding, or do you just get carried away? It is hard to believe you killed by accident after spending a month preparing her,” she says, sounding slightly angry at the creature. “I do not know much about vampires, but I know enough to say they do not usually kill by accident. The only thing that makes me believe it might be true is your claim of preparation for a month.” She lets out a small yawn before glancing at Lykaia. “What do you think, Commander? Is it even possible to kill someone by accident?”
“Vampires do that sometimes. Weres on full moons.” Lykaia says, exhaling and that is exactly when there is a little zisch, and a dart needle pierces the man’s neck, injecting him with whatever the contents of the dart were. The man drops, this has Lykaia sigh again. “Eyes up, you brought a melee weapon? Either way, avoid lethals. Okay if you injure them badly so long as they don’t start bleeding out.”
A group starts jogging over to the unconscious vampire, Lykaia and Mizuki.
Mizuki shakes her head, shouldering her ranged weapon and adjusting the medical equipment in her bag. She reaches for her G36 and unloads the magazine, swapping it for another from her medical bag. “Is non lethal ammo enough? I dont usually carry melee weapons.”
“Yeah, it will just have to do.” Lykaia says, reaching to the back of her neck until something makes an inaudible clack, and one of the four people in the approaching group, is suddenly pushed back. The blade wielding woman starts to approach them. “I’ll keep them there. Don’t got to worry about me. Focus on them and keep an eye on the guy. Can hardly allow them to starve a vampire to death. Sounds like cheating the rules of the city.” She does not sound like she really cares.
Mizuki nods, takes a combat stance and speaks directly to the creature. “Stay close to me and dont try anything or you will die.” She remains near the creature and covers Lykaia’s back from a distance.
lets out an exhale as one of the gunmen attacks her, using a baton to swing at her- she takes a step back, bring the katana close and goes straight for below the neck, enough to be lethal if her opponent reacts poorly. Her body seems to grow more tense, unnaturally so and the attack looks swifter than it should ever be.
Mizuki sets the weapon in one semi-automatic mode and shoots few warning shoots to the attacker.
tries to make a slash against one of the gunmen.
Lykaia says “Keep going if they will not back off. We need to defend ourselves.“
“Copied” Mizuki says.
Mizuki reloads her carbine with non-lethal ammo.
Lykaia brings her blade close to cutting the man’s neck, wounding him critically. “You should fuck off, gentleman.” And then Mizuki fires another shop which drops the guy who seems incapable of withdrawing or retreating. Lykaia gives them a blank stare, and the remainder of the groups suddenly starts running away. “Thought so.” She wipes her blade clean and looks down at the two corpses. “Well, fuck me. Might have been chipped to attack without backing away. This sucks, but that’s how mind control sometimes goes.”
Back near Mizuki, the vampire begins to stir.
Mizuki hesitates for a moment, checking her magazine and noting the blue duct tape that marks it as non-lethal ammo. “Interesting…” she says. “Are you hurt, Commander?” she asks Lykaia.
“Why would I be?” Lykaia answers, staring back at Mizuki before turning fully back and looking at the vampire. She moves closer, grabs the vampire by the neckline at whatever he wears at the back of his clothes. “Let’s get the PD involved… Ready to get this cleaned out, Mizuki?”
“I had to ask, since I saw you take a few hits from that guy,” Mizuki says, smiling at the fact that Lykaia is unharmed. “Yes, Commander. At your command,” she adds in a serious voice.
makes another nod. It goes back to the bike, and Lykaia focuses on her phone now, typing a message. It only takes a few more moments before a police car pulls in. the vampire wakes, and struggles but is kept being as he is, and then shoved into the back of the car.
Later, a report comes in that explains that the vampire was indeed responsible for a death, but his Sire was notable enough to exchange for his freedom, in return for a favor. The hunters were in fact not entirely human, mechanics dressed in corporate livery, brainwashed hirelings barely alive or human. The perpetrator of the hunt continues to be out and about though, and maybe, just maybe, he will turn his hatred onto the people that rescued his prey today next.
