(Avalon’s Friday afternoon odd encounter(Avalon):Avalon)

[Fri Nov 14 2025]

On Atlantic Avenue/span>afternoon, about 44F(6C) degrees, and there are clear skies. The mist is heaviest At Constitution and Blackstone/span>(Your target and their allies are charged with tracking down a supernatural criminal on the run from the factions, what they do with them then is up to the players to decide.

Walking down Atlantic Avenue, Ariane, likely somewhat attentive to her phone, receives a sudden message of alert. It doesn’t seem to be destined towards her in particular, but rather seeming something that most people in the area, or the entire borough have gotten. The notification details how a wanted criminal seems to be on the run, and several different groups, namely The Hand, The Illusium Court, and The Hollow Conclave seem to be after this particular person.

Little is attached to the message other than some description along with a picture of this supposed criminal. A man on his late twenties, with bags under his eyes and short red hair. The description mentions him to be 5’5, and to have demonborn blood. It also mentions that the reason this man is wanted is for assaulting several couriers within the span of only a couple hours, and points out is likely to find the man carrying at least one or two briefcases with him.

And as Ariane reads this message, or at least as she’s in the process of checking her phone, Avalon appears from behind her, sniffing the air almost like some sort of animal, asking the woman without much of a greeting or an introduction “Have you seen a man walking by here? Redhead, short…”

Ariane stops mid-stride, her thumb hovering above her screen as she registers the man’s presence and the odd, almost feral way he’s scenting the air. She lifts her curious blue gaze fully to him warily.

“I just received the alert a moment ago,” she says, holding her phone where he can see the notification without stepping closer. “If you’re asking whether he passed right by me, the answer’s no. I haven’t seen anyone matching that description. Are you involved in looking for him, or…is there something I should be aware of?”

“Yeah, looking for him… Should smell like brimstone, but I’m losing the trail around here, it was already faint all the way from last intersection, but…” Avalon trails off in his speech, shrugging his shoulders and looking around the avenue for a good couple seconds before directing his eyes towards the alleyways that tend to be present along most streets in New Haven.

There’s a little huh, coming from the man, whose sniffing seems to increase for a moment before lowering in volume once more, and then he asks the woman on the side “Are you going to go after him as well? Or ignoring the whole alert?”

Ariane watches him scent the air again, the concentration in his posture telling her he isn’t guessing. She slips her phone into her pocket and squares her shoulders a little, “I don’t ignore alerts,” she says with a soft purr, “But, I also don’t think running into an alley without context helps anyone.”

She studies him for a beat before asking, “I’m down for anything that might help keep Legion trouble away. So if he’s tied to them, I’m not walking away. Hell, you can even use me as bait if needed.”

Pausing for a moment, Avalon tells “Not so sure they are related to the Legion as much as just screwing a bunch of people up… But one never knows with these things” He muses, the corners of his lips shooting up though as she mentions using her as bait though, and quickly enough, the man is telling “Well, this man we are after has attacked a couple couriers, we could just make it look like you’re carrying valuable resources, and I can jump him when he comes to get you”.

Another pause, and the eyes of Avalon going up and down Ariane’s figure for a good couple seconds, noticing a lack of society symbols, and in turn, he reaches for his own pendant, displaying the symbol of The Illusium Court, and telling her “Wear this… And clutch your purse tightly… Then all we likely need is to have you walk into some dark alleyway…”

Ariane slips the pendant over her neck in one clean motion as she pulls her purse tight against her side, arm angled just enough to imply she is guarding something important. “Oh how fun! I’d be a pathetic actress if I can’t pull that off. Won’t let you down,” she gives him a fleeting playful glance before turning to pick an alley.

Without another word she sets off, her stride smooth and deliberate, purse held close, the soft click of her heels echoing off the walls as she walks into the dim alley, giving nervous glances toward her bag as she moves dutifully forward with her eyes fixed on an imagined prize.

Without another word she sets off with a smooth deliberate stride, purse held close. The soft click of her heels echoes along the walls as she walks into the dim alley. Occasionally she casts a nervous glance toward her bag while she moves dutifully forward with her eyes fixed on an imagined prize. — Sorry. I overused commas and was a little embrassed.

As soon as Ariane heads into the alleyway, Avalon stretches both arms and legs for a good couple seconds, and now out of view of the woman, his body begins to shift, growing smaller and more furry, cracking and snapping in unnaturals ways until what was moments ago a person, turns into an animal, and soon enough starts sniffing the surrounding area, looking for the brimstone fragrance.

Of course, it isn’t like this wanted criminal appears the moment Ariane starts acting, nor when she heads into the darker corner streets, it’s not like there’s a magic to detect when someone vulnerable is around. And it easily takes ten or fifteen minutes for anyone to show in front of her.

When it finally happens, turns out the pair is lucky enough to have the man of the description show up. Or well, maybe unlucky for Ariane, as the short redhead man brings out a knife from his pants, aiming it towards the woman and demanding she hands over her purse, adding a little “You don’t want to end up hurt. Make life easier for both of us and hand it over”

Ariane stops and meets the man’s gaze, her chin lifting just enough to make the knife look like an inconvenience rather than a threat. She holds the purse close, not protectively but possessively, as if daring him to try. “You really think I am going to hand this over because you showed up with a knife and a bad attitude?” she asks, eyes locked on his with cool defiance.

She takes one slow, deliberate step back, not in retreat but in command of the space, drawing him forward like she is leading a scene. “If you want it, you are going to have to take it. And you should think very carefully about that.”

As Ariane dares the wanted man to take her purse by force, the criminal steps forward to do exactly that, approaching her with the knife wielded and ready to put it to action to stab the poor girl. But as it had been discussed not too long ago- The woman wasn’t meant to face off the threat herself, she was just bait for this criminal to try and assault her.

And as the redhead man is baited forward, Avalon(Gulo Gulo) enters the scene. Launching from a side of the alley straight to the man’s neck, biting down and showing no mercy for the demonborn. There’s a splash of blood that reaches Ariane, but at least no knife makes it to her, and the assaulter gets stopped in its tracks.

It takes a bit of thrashing and fighting the wolverine, but soon enough, the target man lays unconscious and somewhat bloody in the alleyway, not dead, but not in the best condition either. Avalon(Gulo Gulo) then slowly starts pacing towards Ariane, licking some of the blood from its snout before starting to change once more. Bones cracking, hair being lost without falling, almost as if seeing growth reverted on the spot. And soon enough, the small critter turns into a bearded man once more

Avalon says “The pendant, please?

Ariane steps back only enough to avoid being bowled over, a hot spray of blood streaking her cheek as the wolverine hits the man’s throat, and instead of flinching she lets out a sharp breath that borders on a laugh, eyes bright with adrenaline. As if on instinct the blood from her cheek is wiped with the back of her hand, gaze locked on the brutal clash until the demonborn finally drops.

Once the creature snaps and twists back into the blond man, Ariane moves in and slips the pendant from her neck to place in his hand. “That was impressive, and it isn’t often I’m truly impressed.” With a small dip of her head she finally introduces herself. “I’m Ariane Montrose, and you.. are?”

“Avalon” Avalon simply responds, taking the pendant into one of his hands before lifting it back up and showing it “From The Illusium Court” He shares before putting the symbol back around his neck and glancing back towards the knocked out demonborn, squatting for a moment before lifting up the other man over his back.

“But I better take this one back to take back what he got from us” He informs Ariane with a little nod, glancing towards the exit of the alleyway and telling her “Feel free to ask for compensation to any of the involved societies… We do have a couple of Montroses in the Court at least”

Ariane smirks at him, “A few. Well, that’s a way to put it.” A sultry smile settles on her lips, “Don’t be a stranger Avalon. This was fun.”

nods his head, before starting to carry the knocked out man out of the alley, back towards the streets and likely towards the Court base next
