Dovie’s Sunday Game Night!

Date: 2025-11-23 19:33

(Dovie’s Sunday Game Night!)

[Sun Nov 23 2025]

Highgate Coffee Oceanview Lounge
Between views of a garden and the sea, the lounge unfolds with an inviting mix of plush couches, benches, and tables with chairs, offering space for both quiet reflection and lively conversation. Light pours through a solid glass wall to the east, where the ocean stretches endlessly across the street in full, unobstructed view. To the west, another expanse of glass frames a serene fountain surrounded by lush garden greenery.

It is about 65F(18C) degrees. The mist is heaviest At Maple and Franklin

“What? It’s true, and you know it” Avalon replies to Dovie after being given the look, shrugging his shoulders afterwards and lifting his hand to greet at Kai and Kaelyn

Kaelyn trails along my, squeezing Kai’s hand as they walk in. “Morning,” She says cheerily as they took a seat at the couches. Waving to the familar faces, she settles with a yawn.

Gabriel wanders in and over to Dovie to kiss her cheek, “Sorry I’m late. Couldn’t find my coat.” then he waves to everyone gathered.

Dovie tells the crowd at the couches. “Thank you all for coming! We’re expecting just a few more, and then we’ll get started with a game of Spyfall! If anyone else has brought games, please feel free to add them to the pile!” she announces to everyone. “You can start reading the instructions for Spyfall over here,” she points to someone. “But I will also explain in a few minutes!”

Moving across the couch, Preston leans to grab a drink, taking a sip of it quickly.

Dovie tells the crowd at the couches. “Thank you all for coming! We’re expecting just a few more, and then we’ll get started with a game of Spyfall! If anyone else has brought games, please feel free to add them to the pile!” she announces to everyone. “You can start reading the instructions for Spyfall over here,” she points to a manual with bullet points. “But I will also explain in a few minutes!”

Gabriel flicks a small wave to Matthew and Chance as they arrive.

Liri lifts a hand to wave to Chance once she’s got a drink, a sip seeming to help soothe whatever mood she’s in.

Kai gives a two-fignered salute to Gabriel and Matthew, grinning a little at the pair when he notices them.

Malin waves to Matthew and Beau as they arrive, and then says, “This is Beau, everyone. He just arrived in town as of yesterday.”

Kaelyn offers a wave to the people as they arrive whether or not she actually knows them or not. Her eyes already scanning the instructions.

Dovie waves to Beau. “Welcome!” She pipes up to raise her voice so everyone can hopefully hear. “Okay! So Spyfall! It’s a social deduction game. I will assign everyone a ROLE at a LOCATION. One player will be the SPY, who does NOT know the LOCATION! If you are the Spy, your job is to figure out what the location is.” She points over to a list of location. “Here are all the possible places we can be. And if you are NOT the spy, then your job is to figure out who the spy is!”

Matthew arrives with Chance, greeting the crowd with a wave as he starts to make way over towards the couches, “Hey,” greets, sinking into a free spot near Malin. He beams a smile over at Dovie, “Sorry we’re late,” and then nods over at Kai, going quiet to hear the rules.

Chance lifts a hand and waves to those gathered as he makes his way in and over toward the couches, removing his coat and flopping down somewhere there is an open space comfortably and turning his attention to Dovie as she explains the game.

“Nice to meet you, Beau,” Jasper greets Beau while he looks at the instructions. “I’m Jasper.”

Dovie pauses to give Gabriel a kiss on the cheek before she turns back to the group and continues telling everyone the rules, “Once we get into the game it will be pretty easy. I’ll pick someone to start the round and I will list the turn order here on the board to make it easy on all of us! So on your turn, you will ask another player an open ended question. Like… What do you see around you? Or what kind of uniform do you have? The tricky thing is that you don’t want to be too obvious or you’ll tip off the spy! The game ends when the spy pauses the game to guess where they are, or the players decide they know who the spy is. Everyone has to unanimously agree before we do the spy reveal! If this sounds like a lot of instructions, I promise it goes a lot smoother in person. Any questions before I start assigning roles?”

Matthew nods in support of Dovie’s assurance that the game is easy.

“Nice to meet you” Beau says in a light Southern accent, voice hushed to not overtake the game hostess. He follows those words with a dip of his head in greeting towards Jasper.

Malin listens to Dovie explain, even if she still looks like she has no idea what she’s about to do, but her head bobs in agreement anyway.

Kaelyn shakes her head, leaning back into the couch. No questions from her but her hand fidgeted a bit nervously in Kai’s. This would surely be fine. As if already thinking about the game she gives a half suspicious look to the rest of the people on the couch.

“Right, and do we answer as ourselves or generic person in that location?” Avalon prompts Dovie right after her explanation, leaning back against the couch before saying “It varies a lot…”

Dovie replies to Avalon. “You answer the question from the POV of your role in the location!”

Dovie tells the crowd. “Okay, I’m going to pass each of you a card with your role!”

Kai wraps his arm around Kaelyn’s shoulders and hugs her up against his side lightly, looking around at the faces of the others gathered with a little lift of his brows.

As Dovie hands Preston his card, he looks at it, eyebrows lifting at it, and then tucks the card into his pocket.

Kaelyn smiles as she is handed the card, peeking at it though cupped hands and then setting it face down on her lap.

Chance takes his card, glances it over, and then tucks it away out of sight for now.

Gabriel takes a peek at his card and slips it into a breast pocket.

Matthew scans his card and proceeds to look over, trying to catch glimpses of his neighbor’s cards, cheekily.

Avalon glances at his card after being handed, then putting it into a pocket of his jacket

Dovie finishes handing out cards. “Okay, I think I got everyone!” she announces. “I’m going to put up the turn order of questions on the board over here in just a second. And we can have Kaelyn kick it off with questions!”

Malin widens her eyes as she looks at her card and then clears her throat.

Kai checks his card and nods a few times, “I was born for this,” he states with complete confidence and winks at Kaelyn.

Dovie scribbles the turn order on the whiteboard, but also announces, “The order will be: Kaelyn, Malin, Chance, Preston, Gabriel, Liri, Kai, Matthew, Avalon, Beau, Jasper.”

There was a moment of panic as she was called on first. “Uh,” Kaelyn starts intelligently, “What kind of clothes do you wear here?” She glances back to Dovie as if checking to see if that was acceptable.

Dovie tells Kaelyn. “That is a totally fine question, but you have to pick another player to ask that to!”

Malin appears to be taking mental notes as she listens to Kaelyn and Dovie.

Liri waves it away, murmuring, “I’m just here to watch, I’m not playing, but thank you.”

Kaelyn widens her eyes going, “Oh, ah, Malin?”

Malin looks to Kaelyn, blue eyes wide. “Yes?”

Malin fidgets a bit, chewing at that plumped bottom lip some.

Malin goes, “Oh,” and then her posture relaxes. She takes in a deep inhale, and then proceeds to explain to Kaelyn, “I wear a polo shirt in red, complete with a name tag, khaki pants, and a headset.”

Dovie nods at Liri and turns her attention to Malin. “Your turn now, Malin. You’re up to bat for a question to anyone you’d like!”

Kaelyn nods humming at that answer.

Malin nods to Dovie and then she points at Jasper. “Could someone plausibly get lost here? If someone enters in at three seventeen pee emm and then wanders at a rate of one point two aisles per minute, and person B asks where the exit is despite being next to an exit, for example, and someone else is traveling westbound a zero point six lengths per second would you be able to determine the answer to my question?”

Beau lets out a small snicker at the specificity to Malin’s question for Jasper.

“How many questions is this?” Matthew asks, squinting at Malin before laughing, head shaking at poor Jasper.

Dovie lets out a snorting laugh before encouraging people to drink ciders and eat tacos.

Malin sits there patiently, looking entirely serious.

Matthew doesn’t need to be told twice to get into a taco, and he stands, collecting some refreshments.

Gabriel scratches the side of his head as he considers this question while giving Jasper a sympathetic look.

There’s a laugh from Preston at Malin’s questions, “Were you the math textbook question writers?” He asks Malin curiously. “Because, I swear I’ve read something like that back in high school.”

“I really should have been,” Malin replies to Preston proudly.

Jasper blinks at the questions asked towards him. “Well, only without signs,” he speaks his reply towards Malin with a raise of his brow.

Kaelyn blinks at the question, reaching for a taco.

Dovie nods at Jasper and points to Chance. “You’re up next for a question!”

Chance goes and gets himself a taco and some cider while Malin asks her question and Jasper answers. On his way back he glances around and then asks Preston, “What is immediately to your left?” Then he sits down and takes a bite of his taco.

“Okay,” Jasper nods before he turns to look at Chance. “How clean are the floors?” He asks him.

Dovie tells Jasper. “We have a turn order for questions! So Preston’s turn to answer.” She points to the whiteboard with all the names.

“Wait, who’s question is it?” Preston asks, but Dovie beat him too the punch, “Answering Chance’s?” A little tilting of his head, thinking about it for a moment. “Immediately to my left?

Dovie nods at Preston. “Yep! Chance asked you a question, and when you’re done answering, it’s your turn to pick someone to ask.”

“Wait, who’s question is it?” Preston asks, but Dovie beat him too the punch, “Answering Chance’s?” A little tilting of his head, thinking about it for a moment. “Immediately to my left? The automatic doors of the entrance.” (fix)

Jasper says “Oh right!

Dovie nods at Preston. “Now your turn to ask someone a question!”

And now he’s gotta ask a question, so, he looks around, deciding and thinking and finally settling on Beau. “What does the place smell like?” Preston asks.

Chance takes another bite of his taco and glances from one person to the other, brows lifting just a little bit as he takes in the questions and the answers of the others.

Beau looks like a deer in headlights as Preston’s question is asked to him. “Um,” he raises a hand, scratching lightly under his chin. “Depends.” he starts, unsure if he’s answering right. “For me, where I’m standing? Probably like flowers.” he answers, his Southern draw on thick. “I’d hope sunflowers, because those are my favorite.”

Dovie smiles at Beau’s answer and nods to Gabriel, a silent signal of ‘your turn’.

“Okay my turn,” Kai points at Preston, “Are you the spy and/or is the place you’re in a place for spies?!”

Kai turns his head to look at the turn order, “Oh, fuck,” he slouches down in his seat.

Dovie tells Kai. “If you have an accusation, you have to get everyone to agree with you that Preston might be the spy.” She looks at the others. “Does everyone agree with Kai?”

Malin stares at Kai quietly, as if her question was totally normal.

Gabriel rubs his chin thoughtfully while coming up with a question, eyes wandering over the participants for the victim of said question before they settle on Matthew, “What kind of tools or equipment do you use to do whatever it is you do?”

Up Preston’s eyebrows go, and he leans back on the sofa, folding his arms over his stomach – not needing to answer the question of the moment.

“She said boner, did you hear?” Kai asks Kaelyn, nudging her shoulder with his, his voice pitched lower, but definitely not a whisper.

Malin glances over at Liri, having caught a very interesting word, it would seem.

Avalon quirks an eyebrow at the whisper, sighing and shaking his head before telling Dovie “I don’t think we all agree, no, let’s keep going…”

Dovie nods at Avalon, “Sounds good,” turning her attention to Matthew for his answer.

Kaelyn nods, “That was the only word I heard.”

Malin murmurs out, “And what a word it was.”

“Hate boner,” Liri offers in clarification, her voice flat, dismissive.

Matthew is in the process of digging into the taco, chewing, and waiting if others are bandwagoning on that Preston accusation, but eventually he answers: “I don’t really need to use tools.”

Dovie nods at Matthew and points to Kai. “You’re up, Kai!”

Liri lifts a hand in a lazy wave to Albert.

Kai points to Preston, “Would you say you like your martinis shaken, not stirred?”

Dovie waves at Albert. “Welcome, Albie! We’re in the middle of a Spyfall game.”

Quiet conversations happen, not hearing full context, makes for those situations. But Preston doesn’t even address anything, just nodding at Liri in agreement. Though when Kai asks him another question, he snorts a laugh. “I’m not James Bond.”

Dovie asks Kai. “Was that your question?”

Kai scowls when Preston answers and squints at the other members of the group, he points two fingers at his eyes and then points the second pair at Malin and nods at Dovie.

Albert offers someone a nod of recognition as he enters. His walk is deliberately slow, meandering even, and he approaches the group gathered about the couches without deliberation. Dovie earns a warm smile, the sort of smile the dark-haired man reserves for the Fairchildren. “Dove, darling, it’s been too long.” He takes a seat, not much minding if he’s stolen it from someone who moved their meat for relief or not.

Dovie nods at Kai and points to Matthew. “You’re up!”

Matthew’s name is called and he considers the group, pointing to someone, “Kaelyn, what is your favorite thing about this place?”

Matthew’s name is called and he considers the group, pointing to Kaelyn, “Kaelyn, what is your favorite thing about this place?”

Kaelyn gives an easy snort at that question, “Going home.”

Dovie snorts a little laugh and then points to Avalon. “You’re up!”

Avalon scratches the back of his head, with a little groan “I don’t know…” Before glancing towards Kai and asking “How common would you say this kind of location is in this city?”

“Uhhh…” Kai looks at his card briefly and replies to Avalon, “Very common,” he nods.

Dovie nods at Avalon and Kai, pointing to Beau. “You’re up, Beau!”

Beau smiles for Dovie as she points to him, and his hand is at his head now, lightly tossing through his brown hair as he thinks with a drawn in brow. His head lifts and turns towards Chance, a likely familiar face in this unfamiliar city for him. “What sort of sound would you hear while you’re there?” he asks.

Dovie waves to Mercy and Jakem. “Hey there you two! Feel free to have tacos and cider. “We’re in the middle of a game of Spyfall!”

Jakem says to Mercy Hah, now people we’ll think we came here together. The scandal this is gonna cause.

Matthew upnods Jakem and flashes a smile at Mercy.

Chance considers Beau’s question and then says, “What sort of sound would I hear while I’m here? A couple arguing about having to go to to his mother’s for the weekend and at least one kid screaming.”

Dovie chuckles at Chance and Beau, turning her attention to Jasper. “You’re up, Jasper!”

Chance’s answer has Beau chuckling, clearly making a mental note of things.

Mercy flicks up a wave to Dovie and grunts at her impromptu walk-in companion. “Does that make you a step up from Owen, or a downgrade?” She asks Jakem offhandedly while trying to find an unoccupied seat, ideally with no one else too close.

Dovie tells Jasper. “It’s your turn to ask a question! Pick anyone you’d like who’s playing.”

Kaelyn raises a hand, waving to Mercy from her spot next to Kai. “Good to see you survived.”

“Okay,” Jasper replies. He scans before the room, lifting one hand before he point his finger at Malin. “How wide is the place?”

Albert looks down at his phone suddenly, a rare frown creasing his features. rises from his seat as fluidly as he sat to begin with. “I’ll be back soon if this doesn’t consume me wholly, Dove. Keep the riffraff in line. You know who I’m talking about.” Whether she does or does not, he waves two fingers to Dovie before striding from the coffee shop. Rarer still, he didn’t even cause a ruckus during his brief stay.

Mercy returns Kaelyn’s wave and kind of meanders over to her and Kai, opting instead to just perch herself on the armrest of their couch with one knee crossed over the other. Keeping her head kind of down and her voice low so as not to interrupt, her eyes briefly find Avalon in the crowd before taking to an idle wander of the other faces present. “Ayeah, I did. Kind of a miracle m’still kickin’ at all with the shit I get up to.”

Kai nods in agreement with Mercy.

Both of Malin’s medium width eyebrows raise as Jasper questions her, and she says in her best customer service toned voice, “Oh, about forty-five thousand square feet, I’d guess.” She acts like she’s adjusting her headset. “But I don’t build buildings, and square footage is a language spoken by architects and the patriarch,” gets explained to Jasper.

Gabriel waits for the first round of questions to finish before pointing an accusing finger at Matthew and declaring loudly, “He’s the spy!”

Malin coughs, “Patriachy.”

Dovie snorts a giggle at Malin before she glances to Gabriel, looking around at the group. “Any disagree? Or does anyone have other accusations?”

“What makes you think that?” Preston asks of Gabriel at his sudden accusation of Matthew.

Jakem nods in agreement with Malin’s words “It’s true, I’m spotting to measure the square footage of this place right now.” he says moving to stand.

Matthew glances at his phone and looks up, frowning a little. “There’s a dangerous creature in the borough,” he says.

Jakem waves to Matthew “Mercy and I got it.”

Dovie nods at Matthew. “Creature is the priority. If anyone wants to leave to deal with it, you can.”

“I agree, look at his shirt, he’s a spy,” Kai says as he points at Matthew after Gabriel accusing.

Mercy says “Wait wh-

Dovie peers at Matthew’s shirt.

“If I get knocked up by a spy does that mean my child will have dual citizenship?” Malin wonders aloud.

Gabriel gestures vaguely to Matthew, “Just look at him. He’s the epitome of sketchy. That and he had a non-committal answer, everyone else had a pretty solid one.”

Mercy says “Ugh.

“I’ll help deal with the creature.” Jasper says as he rises from his seat. “I’ll be back.

Avalon says “Yeah, I’ll go do the hunting

Matthew considers the group, “Someone from the Court intend to help?”

Matthew nod at Avalon when he makes the offer.

Kaelyn squits to Gabriel, “Or the spy could be trying to distract us and make us lose.”

Malin smooths her palms over the material of her skirt that covers most of her thighs.

Dovie lets the group quibble as she reaches for some cider to drink. “Yay or nay! If no one supports Gabriel’s claim, we move on!”

Matthew squints as people leave then looks back over at Dovie, “Well, can we even keep playing with activep layers leaving?”

“If there was any evidence other than a shirt.. then maybe,” Preston offers up, “But, I’m a no.”

Gabriel clutches a hand to his chest, “Me? I did want to be the spy, but sadly I’m not.”

Gabriel adds, “We did also basically lose half of the players to a hunt.”

Dovie tells Matthew. “It’s up to the rest of the group, I suppose,” she nods at Preston. “That means we don’t have consensus and it goes back to Kaelyn for a question! I’m just going to confirm now that no one who left was a spy. So we can keep going if you all would like.”

Kaelyn crosses her hands in an X. “Not enough evidence. I say no.” Though she looks between Gabriel and Kai, switching up who she intended to question for the obviously more suspicious target. “Okay,” She poses to Gabriel, “How often do you need to go here during the week?”

“Well if you’re saying the game can still be played,” Matthew reasons with Dovie, shrugging, “Then I guess the spy’s still here. Let’s keep it up.”

Dovie looks to Kaelyn. “Your turn to ask a question if you’d like!”

Chance continues to work his way through his taco, watching as several head out for a hunt before he glances toward those remaining once it’s decided that the game will continue.

Beau’s eyes narrow in suspicion on Matthew now, something Gabriel mentioning has him convinced of something, “Maybe we should ask Matthew another question.” he nods, seeming to like his own idea.

“She did!” Malin says to Dovie, nodding to Kaelyn and Gabriel.

Dovie nods at Malin. “My bad! Carry on.”

Beau’s eyes narrow in suspicion on Matthew now, something Gabriel mentioning has him convinced of something, “Maybe we should ask Matthew another question.” he nods, seeming to like his own idea. (fix)

Kaelyn crosses her hands in an X. “Not enough evidence. I say no.” Though she looks between Gabriel and Kai, switching up who she intended to question for the obviously more suspicious target. “Okay,” She poses to Gabriel, “How often do you need to go here during the week?” (Repost)

“If everyone wishes to give him a chance to win then we can continue.” Gabriel says before answering Kaelyn, “Me? Likely several days out of the week.”

“Several days of the week?” Preston asks, blinking at that.

Kaelyn tilts her head at that answer giving a suspicious hum.

Dovie nods at Gabriel and Kaelyn. “Just to make it easy, the turn order is now Malin, Chance, Preston, Gabe, Kai, Matthew, Beau and Jasper!”

“Yeah, I’m voting Gabriel,” Preston offers up now. “That’s suspicious as hell.”

BeauGabriel’s answer earns him a few blinks from me as well.

Dovie updates the names on the board, “We have an accusation of Gabriel. Are we yay or nay?”

Malin glances around.

“I agree, it’s Gabe. Plus look at his shirt,” Kai nods in agreement with Preston and points at Gabriel, “Let’s throw him out the airlock.”

Matthew considers Gabriel and nods, “Sus.”

Dovie looks to the others for a verdict, “Sounds like a lot of yays for Gabe so far. What say the rest of you?”

Chance considers and then chuckles, shrugging. “Sure.”

Malin shrugs her narrow shoulders. “Sure,” she says right after Chance.

Gabriel lifts a brow, “Who’s left on the vote then?”

Dovie turns to someone. “You’re the deciding vote, Jasper. Do you think Gabriel is the spy?”

Kaelyn ubs the card on her lap, “Still not enough solid evidence. There are explanations.” She tilts her head peering at everyone else’s reactions. “I’d like to hold a question or two.”

Dovie looks around. “Oh is Jasper not here? If not then everyone has voted Gabe.”

“Wait my bad!” Dovie calls out.

Gabriel squints at Kaelyn, “You were the first to call me out!”

Dovie points to Kaelyn. “Kaelyn for the last minute save of Gabe! In that case questioning resumes with Malin.”

Kaelyn says “I just said you *could* be.

“Okay, Matthew, so how often do you see people stopping and staring at the things around them here?” Malin wonders of Matthew. “Like, on a scale from one to ten, what is the mean interval at which subjects cease meanderings to perform unprompted visual fixation of nearby stimuli, and would you estimate the incidence of spontaneous staring behaviours here as low, medium or alarmingly, ridiculously high according to practical observational standards?”

Chance laughs, “I don’t want to suspect anyone just so we can get more Malin questions.”

Dovie chuckles and nods in agreement with Chance.

Malin flashes a broad smile over at Chance.

Beau’s mouth quirks into a smirk at Malin’s question for Matthew and his eyes land on him, waiting for an answer.

Matthew laughs, “Well, it really just depends on the organization, but I would say typically it’s a reasonable amount, in that not very much time at all, unless someone doesn’t really know what they want, and then they’re just staring forever, or stoned. You know, so, yeah, I’d say it depends!”

“They are good questions,” Preston agrees with Chance and Dovie both. “They absolutely are good questions.”

Malin gives a small nod to Matthew, processing his response to the posed question.

Dovie nods at Malin and Matthew, pointing over at Chance. “Your turn, Chance!”

Gabriel again gestures to Matthew and his suspiciousness.

Chance turns to Malin then and squints at her and asks, “If you could steal one thing from this location, what would you take?”

“A kiwi,” Malin replies easily to Chance. “Because I’ve always wanted to be a kiwi, green and sweet — you know, like everyone would see me.” She makes it rhyme. “I’m very confident in my expectations for this fruit that lives in my imagination.”

Kaelyn glances back to someone, humming. “I would like to change my answer. I think it might be him.”

Dovie tells Malin. “Please don’t ever change,” she giggles and points to Preston. “You’re up!”

Malin bows her head to Dovie. “I believe I am incapable of changing.”

“The world rejoices,” Dovie quips back to Malin.

Kaelyn glances back to Gabriel with a hum and a still suspicious squint. “I’d like to change my answer and possibly accuse him.”

Gabriel defends himself, “I haven’t said a word!”

Kaelyn squints.

Rubbing his jaw, Preston thinks of a question, and tries to level his gaze between Matthew and Gabriel, seems those are the two most suspicious, eventually though, he settles on Gabriel. “If someone needed first aid here, would they be able to get it easily?”

Gabriel considers Preston’s question and how to answer, continuing carefully, “Basic first aid? Probably.”

Dovie tells Gabriel, “It’s your turn to ask a question!”

Beau’s hand is under his chin again, thinking about Gabriel’s answer.

A nod towards Gabriel’s answer from Preston, thinking about it, but sitting back now.

Gabriel turns to Matthew, determined to out the accused, “Okay then, Spy, how often would -you- go here during the week?”

Dovie tells Jasper. “Welcome back! Unfortunately since you went to the hunt and we didn’t know how it went, we’re still going but clearly anyone who dropped out was not the spy.”

“Now hold on,” Matthew says, holding up a hand, “I personally don’t go at all, that’s what employees are for but…” and he considers, “I guess at least send someone once a week.”

Chance glances between Gabriel and Matthew, attention shifting from one to the other as the two accused face off in an epic battle of MaybeSpy vs MaybeSpy.

Dovie nods at Matthew and turns to Kai. “You’re up Kai!”

“Okay, I’m with Gabriel now,” Preston says with a laugh. “You might be right, that was a way more suspicious answer than yours.”

Kai points at Gabriel, “Do you have a colleague named Q?” he presses his fingertips together and stares intentl at Gabriel.

Gabriel answers Kai, “I am not James Bond. No idea what my colleagues might be named though. Steve maybe?”

Dovie shakes her head and points to Matthew, “Moving on! Your turn to ask!”

Kai nods at Gabriel and mutters to Kaelyn, “It can’t be him.”

Kaelyn chuckles leaning against Kai, “I don’t know…”

Chance says, “So he’s an Avenger, not a spy. That explains it all.”

Gabriel points at Chance, “Exactly.”

Liri giggles.

Matthew turns the question to Gabriel, “OKay, so say you were looking for a pen to write something down to prove your innocence, what color pen would you use?”

Dovie squints.

Malin looks entirely confused by Matthew’s question to Gabriel.

Liri giggles more, ducking her head and her braids swing forward. She’s gigglesnorting at poor, serious Matthew.

“Alright, I’m voting Matthew,” Preston says now, “I have no idea what that question is.”

Gabriel squints at Matthew and tells him, “Red. The only real option.”

Matthew says “I have it on good authority that all spies use a certain color, I will let you all know..

Matthew points a finger at Gabriel, “That is not a spy color.”

“Invisible ink, of course,” Chance offers up.

Dovie turns to Preston. “Is this a formal accusation?”

“Okay,” Jasper nods towards Dovie as he returns to his seat.

Matthewsomeone oints at Chance, “That’s the spy color.” And he squints accusatory at the Fairchild.

“Yes,” Preston nods to Dovie.

Matthew points at Chance, “That’s the spy color.” And he squints accusatory at the Fairchild.

Kai nods in agreement with Matthew, “His logic is flawless.”

Liri sinks into her seat, mumbling to Preston and whoever chose to sit at her other side, “He declared shenanigans.”

Dovie calls out. “Call to order! Preston has made his accusation! Are we yay or nay?”

Gabriel adds his bid, “Yay.”

Chance laughs. “Yea.”

Malin says, “Sure, why not.”

Kai claps his hands together and says excitedly, “Yay!”

Beau looks entirely unsure, eyes darting between both Matthew and Gabriel. He his answer doesn’t come out of him easily, “Yay.”

Dovie looks to Kaelyn. “It’s down to you again!”

Kaelyn waits for the final call to be added before following the crowd. “I suppose I will go yay, but still not enough evidence.”

Matthew look at Kaelyn then says, “The fate of the game rests in your hands, no pressure.”

Dovie looks to Matthew. “Any final words before a reveal?”

Matthew shakes his head, “No final words,” he says.

Dovie tells the group. “Matthew was the spy! Congratulations! You all win! Your winnings are tacos and cider, please take them home for the love of God, I have too much food in my fridge.” She chuckles. “And thank you everyone for coming and sticking it through, I know this took a lot longer than anticipated. We’ll do more and other games another time. I’m working on getting an Uno set.”

Matthew bounces his brows, “So where was the party?” he asks, going for another taco.

Preston lets out a little cheer as the non-spies are declared the winner. “Woo!” A fist pump even. “Thanks, Dovie, for hosting! It was fun.”

Malin claps for Dovie and Matthew.

Beau’s hands come together in light applause for Dovie, smiling with with all his teeth. “Thank you miss, this was a delight.”

Liri claps for the crew, selecting a few more drinks, questionably legal, and then she calls over to Preston, “But you’re sus.”

“Sweet,” Kai grins and leans against Kaelyn lightly, he turns his head and kisses her on the cheek, “Good job, babe.”

Dovie tells Matthew. “Supermarket. I actually thought you may have been tipped off since Malin mentioned aisles, but it was cleverly disgused with a million details.” She nods to Preston and Beau, “Thank you all for coming!”

Malin beams ever so brightly.
