Contribution Item value loss

There’s a rumor circulating that items such as alchemical goods and briefcases decrease in value over time. Is this the truth?

From the help Politics Guide:

“Contributions all decay in value gradually over time, achieving 0 value after six months.”

I’m not entirely sure what that means. It feels like contributions fade much quicker than six months.

If you mean do they decay if you wait before contributing them then no.
