It’s been a little over a month since I hit invitation 5, and just one week after launch I was stuck at invitation 3 (I made a bargain one week after to get me to 5). I’ve kept RP with tier 3s to an extreme minimum outside of events, and have been fairly reclusive this last week just to see if anything changes, it hasn’t. During the first week, I did make a lot of bargains and quite a bit of RPXP- especially as the end of the week lingered and the 0-13RPXP gain per week seemed strange. I asked in newbie and someone pointed out that this could be a punishment for players ‘abusing’ the new system. I don’t think this is a healthy speculation, as it’s predicated on the fact that Nova would somehow be vengeful for players exploring (or abusing, but word choice defines opinion and I wouldn’t agree) a new system when the system at the beginning was inherently buggy and difficult to discern what was just ‘good’ and what was ‘abuse.’ (See; Mancy and abilities (really just anything to do with combat), borough hunting grind, etcetera)

I’m left to guess whether this is a bug or if there’s a mechanic in which isn’t transparently presented in the invitation helpfile. I’ve submitted a bug report about a month ago that came back ‘investigated.’ This could mean anything, but generally to me is indication that things are working as intended.

I’ve heard some people say that victimizing is important to reducing it? I’m 110 antag emotes in throughout this month so I’m going to rule that one out. The way I’ve come to understand it is that there’s a point where you can make too many bargains and it will permanently lock your invitation level.

It could also be due to using the pact training method! Who knows? Certainly not me. At the end of all this guessing, I’m really just hoping to some transparency as to why many players are stuck at their current invitation level, and whether it’s terminal to the character in order to properly portray that.

I was invitation 5 and after 1-2 weeks of RPing with T1s and T2s I was down to 3. I think perhaps ensuring you are targeting low tiers with your @ or being targeted by them matter. I am not sure. I also believe invitation updates daily.

I’ve been ruthlessly removing myself from the room when tier 3s are around, and am probably one of the most active players on the grid. I don’t do Fabled quests either. Truly, there’s something missing in the feedback with the system.

I dropped down to 3 the other day, back up to 5 after a plot bargain. I will let you know when I am back down to 4 !

I can see in the logs that people are losing invitation over time as they RP etc, so nobody is ‘stuck’

I suppose one thing I’d mention is the type of RP you do also matters, the same weekly RPxp code will also look at how much of your rp represents mundanity and reduce your invitation accordingly or increase hollow if you’re high tier, and how much of your RP involves ‘seeking corruption’ and boost invitation accordingly so that also matters.

The system is also pretty slow in general when it comes to moving up/down from RP and as I’ve said before the specific point of bargain is supposed to be for people who want their invitation to be higher.
