I wanted to talk about counter-antag or white knighting or heroics. I know the Haven mantra is power = corruption and all that but there still exists a dynamic of the lesser of two evils. I also want to discuss conflict avoidance and why you, yes you, should have faith in your fellow player.

Step back. Hold on.

With the removal of sanctuary I believe that the playerbase has demonstrated amazing unified restraint in not really murdering each other in some kind of orgy of revenge fueled ganksquads. Kind of shows self moderation was possible all along! So not only are your fellow players not as terrible as you may suspect or feel they are but there has never been a better time to take chances, risk big wins, and big losses.

There is nothing.

Not one thing that cannot be undone in this iteration.

I psychologically scar you. Charm of Lethe or Brainwash cleanse which quote removes all bad memories? Not sure what that means since it might turn some people into blank nothing dolls but you get the idea.

There is no mechanical downside currently that cannot be overcome. You can play everything up in RP as hardcore as you want. A lot of our antags are actually very gracious in victory and defeat. I know Matias is not considered particularly dastardly but I’ve been around the block. I’ve won some fights, I’ve lost some fights. I’ve made some mistakes! Killing that Lieutenant or stating too and you know mistakes they happen.

But if you see an antag on grid. They almost certainly want you to fight them. Easy wins are cool. People succumbing to victimization is nice. But at the end of the day until a hero (or anti-hero) rises up to counter you. Its just not the same.

So what is the point of this post. To encourage people that when bully characters telegraph their bullying or get caught doing bad things. Confront them. Challenge them. Ideally you know don’t gank squad them but if they are being blatant and doing it in front of a group than 100% group stomp them.

Sometimes being conflict avoidant or not trusting people to take an L means you will hate them for all the Ws that they got because no one was willing to even put up a token resistance. I don’t even mean codedly fight them you could just threaten them in RP! Sometimes that is all it takes. So 2026 the year of standing up to antagonists sometimes.
