Did you really just come in here to tell me how bad I am? Do you think I’m suddenly going to Obama meme and think, “she’s got a point?”

Nope. But if everyone seems to think you’re a problem, including people that don’t even like each other, then one of two things are true:

    1. They are correct, and you should get yourself together.
    2. They are wrong, in which case you should probably find a place not filled with people that hate you.

Which is why I suggested taking a break from internet rants, so you can decide which it is.

    The alternatives:

    1. They are correct, but you refuse to get yourself together.
    2. They are wrong, but you keep spending your time with people that hate you.

Both lead to you and everyone else just being miserable and not having fun.

I don’t really care which option you think is true. Just hoping you take a moment to ask yourself what you’re getting out of this. You aren’t having fun. We aren’t having fun. You aren’t going to make people stop hating you by insulting them, especially when the insults are your self-admitted guesses that you don’t actually know whether they’re true or not. So what are you trying to accomplish? What’s the goal? Is the goal a realistic one? Is there a better goal, or a better way to achieve it?

My guy, all I suggest is taking a break to clear your head and figure out an approach to actually achieve your goals instead of alienating everyone you’d play with if you decide to stick around.

Do you just want to vent? It seems like this is making you angrier faster than venting, so maybe venting elsewhere might accomplish that goal better.

What is it that you want? And is there a better way to get it than this?

@crayon Liar, I never told my “buddies” to come rez me. Whatever you say buddy. I didn’t say you were conspiring, but you sure did jump on the bandwagon. Neat trick their, I wonder who swallows that shit?

    @maina True, true.

It wasn’t so much an assumption that Leon would leave her staked, it was just a statement to everyone about the actual potential misuses of staking and a general PSA on how staking works. Staking doesn’t get used that often; I was surprised it was remembered at all, honestly. Did it create chaos? Sure, but chaos can be a story.

IC actions absolutely have IC consequences. I don’t think it was unreasonable to get mad, even if it was an accident. Sure, Arachne said it was an accident, but you guys are ideological enemies. My character would lie to you, attack you, and say ‘Oops.’ No one should be saying, “It was an accident!” OOCly because, as you pointed out in your first post, it doesn’t matter. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if it was an accident on a coded OOC level or not; it did happen IC in a period of combat and there’s no way to read minds and know if it was, indeed, an accident.

I know the double illusion confuses people, though. I got smacked around when people used it when I went on an adventure. Growing pains for skills.

    @Everyone

You don’t have to RP with anyone. I will repeat that again for the people in the back: You have to be In-Character, but you do not have to RP with anyone you do not want to. You can’t prevent people from doing things to your character, but you can go AFK, you can ask for Fade-To-Black on uncomfortable issues, you can honestly just walk away or re-roll or whatever. No one is obligated to RP with anyone.

Is it a courtesy? Sure. During big conflicts, though, it can be easy to fall out of long-form emotes. Especially when faced with several aggressive enemies.

Kaiser, do note that I have not been attempting to condemn you. I’ve been speaking to everyone, not just a single individual. The advice I give is for all people playing. Leon should not have died so quickly; it’s been a few weeks, guys. Leon should not have died so quickly; Leon should not have been killed without some interaction prior to his death; escalation is the death of Haven.

Escalation has always been the death of Haven. We can say “Cold War! Cold War!” all we want, but the fact of the matter is that Nova gives us code that allows us to engage in conflict, that allows us to injure each other, that allows us to kill each other, and some people will choose to play a character that engages in that aspect of it. Plenty of players prefer combat RP, and that is fine.

What is not fine is attacking each other on the forums, on any side. Issues with players who are interrupting rules should be sent to the Admin so they can handle it, otherwise we end up with lynchmobs and lynchmobs end with trolls that end with just overall ennui and sadness.

    Be excellent to each other.

Sorry if I made it seem like I was making you out to be condemning me. That was not my intention nor how I read your post. I too am human.

Yeah, Double didn’t even echo for me on my end, or I legit didn’t see it, and I don’t think it’s supposed to, but apparently not registering everything under the sun and not knowing every bit of code while not being able to play Haven one-handed and blind folded makes me a bad person and malicious player. Mea culpa, I’ll do better (me being as ass to those who know who they are.)

My biggest character flaw is when someone punches me in the nose then I absolutely feel the need to slug them right back. But as the saying goes, “don’t start non, won’t be non.”

@mojojo Bit late, but since you asked I feel the way you’re lowering yourself down to Kaiser’s level is by engaging with the arguments at all.

Each time you reply to another one of Kaiser’s posts you’re making yourself marginally more frustrated, each time you restate your issues with him you’re magnifying those issues in your own mind by a slight margin.

The issue you two are discussing is not of note when placed next to something like RPless kills. There probably is some kind of discussion to be had around the staking, but because you two have been arguing about it so heatedly if’s been built up into something much more than it is.

Each time you take the bait and respond to Kaiser you’re feeding the drama. It’s fine to just say “This guy is in a bad mood, they’re going to be acting irationally for a bit, I’m going to let them do that over there whilst I do mine over here” and then bring it up later if it really is something so important to you that you feel it needs to be adressed.

You are actively killing your ability to engage peacefully with a part of your community in the future. You’re creating hard feelings within yourself towards Kaiser that are going to last much longer than this argument will last.

Please don’t feel like I’m singling you out here by the way, Kaiser is very much doing the same thing here. I do the same thing as well when I’m heated. It’s only human. But that doesn’t mean it’s correct.

There’s a lot going on in this thread, if there was something else I was supposed to respond to but I didn’t please let me know, I kind of skimmed the last few pages when I realized it was more discussion on stake and illusion mechanics.

“My biggest character flaw is when someone punches me in the nose then I absolutely feel the need to slug them right back.”

Work on this. Nobody reacts well to someone being unable to take an L. This is consistently an issue with you. Not only do you not take any feedback or criticism, you escalate -everything- and as this interaction in the hunt proved, you don’t know a damn thing about RP etiquette, have zero patience or understanding, and cannot fathom resolving shit like a normal adult.

I don’t antag a single person. I get into raids, I get into a few rare grid fights, but I don’t cripple characters, bombard them with rituals, tie them up and gag them, I don’t beat them up when I easily can, I don’t arrange hit squads, I don’t seek revenge via mechanical winnery, I don’t use ‘easy win buttons’ like just carrying naturalizer during full moons or having a stake ready to just force any vampire into an easy victim role whenever I feel like it, etc.. Find me one person in-game who can actually recall me being a dick to them ICly and ruining their ability to RP something out.

This is where you failed, miserably and horrendously. To RP -anything- out.

Let me repeat it for you. You -instantly- staked her, paralyzing their character to come out as the coded victor in what is universally accepted as a total dick-move. This isn’t ‘telling a story’. You could’ve bound her and threatened with a stake, you could’ve stalked her and corner her some other time to resolve it, you could’ve gone down a hundred-and-one different paths which wouldn’t have painted you out as an unhinged, gun-ho lunatic who escalates over the stupidest of shit.

You got hit, once, in a chaotic fight. Come on – It was seven damage, you wanna pretend it’s clear as day she was obviously trying to gank you ICly? You are in melee, and there’s active movement going on, and someone trying to land a few shots on an enemy. Grazing shots and friendly fire is almost expected, and reasonable, in my head.

What’s next, you going to decapitate a person because someone meatshielded (martial arts skill) you and caused someone else to hit you once? In your book, I bet that’s still a valid repercussion.

Connie’s response was telling. She wanted NOTHING to do with a person who did something that unhinged. That should tell you something. You made a big oopsie. And could have instantly remedied this very, very easily. Apologize. Grovel, for all I care. Even now, some admission of guilt would’ve come a long way, but by now I’m not buying any apology or diplomatic words coming out of your mouth.

You cannot handle anything. You can’t be antagged. You can’t be reasoned with. You can’t be repercussed against without blowing the fuck up. Do not engage others with hostile actions in that case. If you can’t take a blow to your nose in a game where taking losses is pretty much written into the theme, play something else.

We aren’t ass. You’ve been an ass and you were getting treated as one. You know fully well you exhaust any and all energy to keep things diplomatic with your MO. And if you don’t, go over this post again. If you can’t see how you absolutely crushed any hope to be treated with patience, and understanding, there’s something wrong.

And I getchu, Luka. I’m addressing other things other than my own issue after the run-in with Leon. Don’t see how this is killing my ability to engage peacefully with anyone else. Most of us are probably on the same boat – We think he’s someone you just do not interact with, you do not include, you do not seek out, and you just deal with him when needed. He still denies making any accusations first, when he’s been hostile and accusatory since the first post. He takesies-backsies his own arguments the second they’re debunked. This is not something we should just tolerate and stomach, shrug off and let be.

The sabotage was an entirely unrelated scheme by the Sons of Olympia in the borough that the BGH was hosted in. That was pure bad luck and not someone immediately targetting Leon for what happened. I will reiterate that I saw no message about anyone being kidnapped or whatever by the scouts. For my part in this, someone mentioned like 30 minutes after the hunt began ‘Has anyone heard from Arachne yet?’ and that’s when my PC got worried.

The sabotage keeps being brought in as a Hand/Court OOC reaction – it was a scheme that’d been in play for several days.

This isn’t true, though. He’s fine to play with, so long as you don’t try to have a conversation with him when he’s on an unhinged rant and build up much animosity all other interactions with him are then fouled by it.

    I guess I got mentioned.

pof Matias was standing in Windermere with lookfor turned off and a calendar event in 20 minutes. I was then pulled by the lookfor command (which is off) to a completely different location. When I attempt to contact you to explain this is unintentional I have a thing you fail to respond. When I then via RP attempt to go hey I have a class, follow me and we can sort this after, you further ignore the attempt.

Then I try to walk away after several emotes where you fail to take the hint. Get turned around. You attack me. I just ping the cavalry after you basically ignore any decorum or grace to a potential bug. You KO me and run away from the I need help team I called because you’re kind of a bad actor OOC.

If telling someone woah how did I TELEPORT HERE when I didn’t think I could TELEPORT somewhere else I have a preplanned RP event (with people waiting for me) is a rule violation than you’re a karen.

    A Musty Basement Seminar Room
    Content Warnings: None

    The area is dim.
    The lights are on.

The Plymouth Seminar Room occupies a windowless corner of the basement, its
low ceiling supported by exposed pipes that occasionally emit soft clicking
sounds as they expand and contract. Fluorescent lights cast an uneven glow
across rows of wooden chairs with attached writing tablets, their surfaces
marked by decades of student use. The walls, painted institutional beige,
display water stains near the corners where moisture has seeped through the
foundation. A heavy wooden table sits at the front of the room, its dark
surface reflecting the overhead lights in distorted patterns. The air carries
a persistent mustiness despite the ventilation grates set into the walls, and
the temperature remains several degrees cooler than the floors above. Cork
boards line one wall, their surfaces dotted with faded announcements and
peculiar symbols drawn in chalk that seem to shift slightly in peripheral
vision. The door, reinforced with a small wire-glass window, closes with a
weight that suggests its age and the settling of the building around it.

It is about 60F(15C) degrees. You are standing in Windermere University Campus.

    A Well-Worn Corner Poker Table
    Content Warnings: None

    The area is very bright.

The northern poker table occupies its corner of the casino floor, an oval of
green felt surrounded by eight padded chairs with worn armrests and slightly
uneven legs. The table’s surface shows the subtle impressions of countless
hands dealt across its fabric, with betting lines and position markers
printed in fading white. A dealer’s chip tray sits embedded in the table’s
edge, its colored chips sorted into neat columns behind a clear acrylic
barrier. The pendant light overhead casts a concentrated pool of brightness
onto the playing surface while leaving the surrounding area in relative
shadow, creating a defined boundary between the game and the casino floor
beyond. The table’s wooden rail bears the scuffs and scratches of years of
use, with several drink holders built into its circumference showing sticky
residue from spilled beverages. Through the ambient noise of slot machines
and the distant rattle of the roulette wheel, the soft shuffle of cards and
click of chips creates its own rhythm. The acoustic ceiling tiles above show
water stains in places, and the burgundy and gold carpet beneath the table
appears particularly threadbare where players’ feet have worn paths during
long sessions. A small placard displays minimum and maximum betting limits,
while a security camera mounted directly above ensures every card and chip
    movement remains under observation.

It is about 60F(15C) degrees. Ahead of you is Casino Floor. You are standing in Golden Sands Casino.

They aren’t here or you cannot send them a tell.

Your comms say “I am moving for the western extraction point.”

You aid Leon by telling him OOCly ‘Hrm this is concerning, I didn’t have lookfor on and I have a class calendar event in 20 min’

    You start looking to support.

    You stop looking to support.

Leon flips his knife in hand and looks Matias, “Weren’t you one of the many who decided to jump
    Temple?”

[Guide] Matias: ‘Are you supposed to be able to be pulled into social oopportunityies when you’re not actively lookfor?’

You say (to Leon), a resonating and brazilian accented baritone, ‘In fact I was not Professor
Leon and I have a class in, oh twenty minutes, so if you’d like to come along and follow me out
of the classroom when I’ve completed to brandish a knife we can do that.’

Leon looks over his knife and paces back and forth as he looks over Matias, “I remember you
their, I remember you running your mouth. You want to try again?”

“Not particularly.” Matias says while pushing up from his chair and beginning to move away.
“But if you try and attack me, I will defend myself Professor.”

Leon taps his knife against his shoulder, “I even remember that voice of yours in my hospital
    room, hovering over me.”

<I try to walk away, get lost, combat ensues>
