Putting aside the bugginess and how stacked certain societies are, there’s no strategy left in raids. Whoever arranges the operation wins by default because they can grab the item and ideal cover before anyone else even arrives..
Worse, they’re just… not fun. Sitting through 10 to 40 minutes of dead time while your character auto-drives to the raid isn’t engaging. It’s forced idling. It’s a chore.
Please consider going back to Operations, or just rethinking raids from the ground up. I get that the intention was probably to keep players online and actively engaged instead of just logging in for Operations and dipping when there’s none ongoing, but for me personally it’s had the opposite effect. The main draw of the game (for me) has now become one of the least enjoyable aspects.
The only one I have managed to make it to, first, I drove to the borough where it was supposed to happen and waited for the notification. It took me a minute to arrive that way. Second, the few times I tried from outside the borough, the game crashed before I even got there. Then I was just stuck in my ride for 30 minutes to arrive at nothing. That kinda sucked.
The problem I have is it immediately set us up against friggin’ 40 NPCs. And while I might have been able to whittle 40 NPCs down on my T5 in H6 over the course of 45 minutes… It is certainly not a good experience for ‘the first raid of the iteration.’
The only good thing I can say about it is this: Those present for it abandoned any idea of attacking each other to focus on the incoming tidal wave of ranged attacks that destroyed cover in a round then picked us off one after the other. This gave the game a very ‘us’ versus ‘it’ feeling, pitting ALL of the assembled groups against the 63rd. But that novelty will likely wear off if the numbers are adjusted (as I absolutely think they should be, and maybe even have already been).
If the numbers get modified, then this will feel much less like PvE and more like PvP again. Which is ultimately good for both the game and folks like Cutie. Not sure how much PvP is happening on this grid. I have heard about some, but really not a lot.
I legitimately would not mind a different Type of Raids to exist entirely, which is very much not about faction/societies duking it out against one another, and it being a Factions/Societies vs Legion incursion type thing. Though these should also come with rewards that each attending group would enjoy.
Perhaps have Operations return, and have them function as before as the PvP with mild ‘vE’ elements in the small waves. Raids could be developed from here into a wave-defense kind of deal.
