Evelynns Odd Encounter Sr Claire

Evelynn's evening took a turn for the worse when her walk on Deadwood Street was interrupted by the growling of magically enraged animals. Drawn to the sound, she discovered a pack of wolves with eerily intelligent behavior and red-rimmed eyes. As they surrounded her, Evelynn fought back with a knife and the aid of her shadow, which appeared to act as a separate entity, striking one wolf with fatal effectiveness. Unfortunately, Evelynn was brought down by another wolf, but she remained composed, her undead resilience on display as she methodically neutralized her attackers using both physical force and arcane skills. Even as a wolf latched onto her neck, Evelynn's undead nature allowed her to survive and retaliate, slaying the beast.

The pack's leader, sensing Evelynn's superiority, offered servitude in lieu of combat, admiring her martial prowess. However, Evelynn recognized the threat the creature posed, with its unnatural abilities and corrupted nature, and she rejected the wolf's proposition. Coordinated with her shadow, she launched an assault; Evelynn confronted the wolf head-on while the shadow flanked and attacked from a blind spot. Ultimately, the creature conceded to its end, acknowledging the indignity of its downfall. With the threat vanquished, Evelynn arranged for her faction to clean up the scene, leaving no evidence of the supernatural skirmish, and she departed as the sole survivor of the odd encounter on Deadwood Street.

On Deadwood Street

It is night, about 35F(1C) degrees, and the sky is covered by dark grey stormclouds. There is a new moon.

(Your target is attacked by an animal or small group of animals driven mad with magic, it is up to them to escape or fight them off for long enough for their allies to arrive and help deal with the threat.
)
Evelynn is outside the howl where she just finished up a drink in the back room of the den. Her goals from here? Maybe find some food, maybe go home. Or just find something to do to fend off endless boredom

With nightfall just beginning, people should be flooding into the bars, but the streets are eerily quiet at the moment and the atmosphere is a little odd as Evelynn stands beneath a blinky streetlamp slowly guttering its way to a final darkness. There isn't much to see on deadwood street at all, but shortly there is something to hear a vicious growl sound from a nearby alleyway, its intonation deep and rumbling almost like a lion's for depth but with the timber of a wolf.

Evelynn scans the road for a potential low hanging snack, nothing obvious can be seen, any pedestrians are either absent or travel in groups. She stands by her sportsbike and could get on at anytime but the growl she hears piques her interest. Showing a distinct lack of fear of what most people would find scary in the dark. She idly makes her way towards the alley mouth, subtly fingering the knife concealed at the small of her back to ensure the trusty item is there.

As Evelynn's head darts towards the alleyway she sees a pair of large figures looming in the alleyway, loping steps taking them closer to the mouth, though they seem to be somewhat intelligently away that they should be unseeable. Despite this they are quite vocal offering deep gorwls as they slowly inch closer. Out of the corner of her eye Evelynn also sees movement elsewhere, though a quick glance will yield nothing except the surity that she is slowly being surrounded.

Evelynn realizes she's not facing one, but perhaps multiple enemies. She stops in her tracks, stiff as a statue for many long high tension moments before she starts to backtrack towards her sportsbike as a means of escape.

The wolves in the alley stop and watch, their breaths coming out heavy, their mouths opening in something that looks like laughter. The attack does not come for the front, but rather the side as a massive wolf with fierce, red-rimmed eyes slams into the sportsbike and plants its feet into the side in the landing, sending it toppling over and skidding a couple of feet. Animals naturally shouldn't be this intelligent in cutting off escape, but these appear to be no ordinary wolves. Even amid this the ones in the alley come loping out into the open now, carrying the same red eyes, their maws open and a strange barking laughter slipping out more reminiscent of hyenas that wolves. They start to spread out in a semi-circle, aiming to corral Evelynn back and away from her vehicle and the bar, trying to maneuver her across the street towards an opposite alley.

Evelynn draws her knife from the small of her back, no use in hiding it's existence now. She is easily corral'd by the wolves to the edge of the alley way as they desire. She wears a subtle frown on her lips when usually she shows almost not emotion at all. Under her breath she mutters a near silent incantation and almost imperceptibly her shadow seems to detach from her feet and disappear into the alley way ahead of her.

For their part so intent on the closing trap and impending kill, none of the wolves seem to notice the trap being laid for them, completely missing the departing shadow as they focus on the knife and the prey. At the edge of the alley they stop and the lead pauses and takes a couple of steps forward. Its maw opens impossibly wide and a man's voice speaks despite the lack of any movement from jaw or tongue, "Mmmmm. Well you look like a fresh cut of meat." As it speaks the other wolves brace themselves for the pounce, looking ready to strike at any moment. The voice rings out, "I bet your blood is going to taste like warm wine." The mouth closes and the two flanking wolves strike pretty much immediately, one dashes in low trying to go for the left leg while the other pounces, trying to secure the wrist with the knife. The are significantly smaller than the lead, but they are fairly quick.

Evelynn is not a regular piece of fresh meat, in fact she's old, dead meat. She allows the wolf to latch onto her left leg so that she can focus her blade towards the wolf going for her wrist, she slashes it across where it's eyes should be. Within moments, as if sharing the same mind and capable of coordinating battle tactics her shadow, with an identical shadow knife in hand to her own real knife comes to stab the wolf in the flank that has grabbed the leg. If there is pain, the vampire does not show it.

Focusing on one target like that seems to have been the best possible strategy and one of the wolves seem to have been expecting the backup that just emerged from the shadows. Evelynn's knife carves into that wolf's face, slices it muzzle to eye in a large gash that, strangely, leaves no blood but seems to sever some of the muscles needed for the creature to work its jaw properly as it hangs slack now. The real coup de grace comes from the shadow however, which takes all the wolves completely by surprise. Sinking its knife into the flank of the wolve, the scent of putrefaction fills the air as rotting intestines and maggots spill out of the wolf's belly. It stumbles and falls, pawns twitching, seeming to try to gather its own innards. Unfortunately, the other wolf does manage to gain purchase of the leg, and manages to tear it out from under her putting her on the ground. Lunging forward, it immediately goes for the neck, trying its best to duck under any reprisal swing from the shadow and seeming confident that Evelynn will not be able to bring their own knife to bear in time.

Evelynn isn't out of tricks, she's brought down by the yank on her leg but before the creature can go for her neck her knuckle pendant briefly glows and the blood vessels in the wolfs eyes burst suddenly to fill their vision with a deem crimson. Even if the wolf does grab her neck, she is a lifeless creature, she can survive without breath, without a pulse. She lets the creature take hold and aims a downward stab towards where the wolfs head would be if it goes for her neck in the first place.

No blood emerges in the wolf's eyes, but they cloud all the same, the same process that would ordinarily burst blood vessel instead popping little nodules of rot in pus in the undead beast's which are soon running down its fast like yellow tears. It's momentum carries it into the attack though and it grips into the neck and starts to pull, a massive paw coming down between Evelynn's collarbones pushing her down toward the ground even as it latches its teeth and attempts to rip her throat out, tensing up for a sharp and sudden yank. It doesn't even get the chance as the knife comes down and lands true and square right on the top of the beast's head, puncturing that thick skull and disappearing into its brain. The yank never comes. The jaw looses and the wolf falls to one side off of you shaking int a spasming seizure. This leaves Evelynn with just the large leader who is seated at the entrances to the alley, simply watching, "Its tale flicks to one side and it's mouth unhinges once again. "Were you sent, exterminator? Or was this just bad luck on my part?""

Evelynn gathers her durable undead body off the alley floor and faces the leader. The punctures in her leg and neck don't actually bleed freely, there is merely a oozing of blood. The dark haired woman adjust her grip on her knife to prepare for the last foe if it comes down to it, "I am not here to hunt wolves.." she glances to the unusual wolves who didn't bleed or take normal wounds, "These are not wolves though are they?"

The wolf sits and stares for the moment, its tail thumping on the ground repeatedly, as its eyes flick to one wolf and then again to the other. A breathy snort of annoyance sounds out at the question and it replies, "No more than your knife is a wolf or your shadow. They were.. limbs, now removed and I am left a one-headed Cerberus. It raises its eyes and takes Evelynn in, the expression changed from hunger to respect as it remarks, "It will take time to reconstitute myself. You've weakened me a great deal and could send me screaming into chaos if you had a mind to finish the job." Tiltings its head to one side, it remarks, "But you are a great warrior and will become greater still. I see it in you, so perhaps a different path. I would serve you." It makes its offer and then watches, its eyes intent and curious."

It makes its offer and then watches, its eyes intent and curious.

"A servant does not have a servant of their own." Evelynn declares softly, her voice raspy like sandpaper. She does not have to give any orders to her shadow as it follows the dark edges of the alley in almost complete stealth to approach the leader at its flank while she speaks to it, "Wolves are bad enough, whatever you are is not worth allowing to exist." then she rushes in right around the time her minion shadow strikes with it's shadow blade

True to its word, the wolf is greatly weakened by the loss of its comrades. As both Evelynn and the shadow close in, it offers a heady breath and raises its head to in acceptance of the blow about to come from the woman rushing in. When the shadow presses its blade into its neck, seeming shocked by the assassination coming from that angle. Its last words roll as a growl, "How undignified for a chapter ending." Then it crumples and falls.

Evelynn does the dirty deed, emotionless. There is no remorse for a dead wolf, especially one that has corrupted itself with such magic. To deal with the evidence of it's existance she pulls her phone to call in a clean up team from her faction. But by the time they arrive she's already collected her bike to leave.
