Owens Odd Encounter Sr Deacon

As Owen and Lanie meander down Black Ash Lane, the tranquility of their stroll is punctuated by playful banter about the dubious culinary merits of McDonald's. Lanie, with a distaste for the 'McChemicals' but an affectionate grip on Owen's arm, could hardly predict their journey from the would-be normalcy of a fast-food meal to a confrontation with the darkness brewing beneath their quaint town. While Owen jests about the local color found within the fast-food establishment, the biting wind carries a prelude to the ominous that awaits. The mundane moment shatters when Owen's phone vibrates insistently, signaling an alert that would draw them into a situation far from ordinary.

With the pressing alert, their attention shifts to the impending crisis. They discover a gathering of cultists, cloaked in the desperation of their deeds, as they teeter on the brink of unleashing a demon upon Haven. This pivotal revelation forces Owen and Lanie to act swiftly, evoking the courage to confront the nefarious ritual head-on, as the fate of their town dangles precariously in the balance. With the cultists' chants echoing through the basement, the pair valiantly intervenes in the nick of time, preventing the demonic entity from rending through the veil. As the storm clouds loom and the reality of their close call sinks in, Lanie and Owen's bond is tested and strengthened against the backdrop of a town saved from the clutches of ruin.

On Black Ash Lan``257e
The dirt road stretched out ahead like an ancient path etched into the earth by the passage of time. Nature's touch is evident along the roadside, with patches of vibrant green grass stubbornly pushing through the cracks, as if determined to reclaim this forgotten path. Wildflowers, their delicate petals swaying in the breeze, add splashes of color to the earthy canvas, welcoming those that journey this way.

It is afternoon, about 41F(5C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky.

(The characters come across a group of cultists attempting to summon a demon in the basement of a local building. The ritual is nearly complete and the characters must stop it before the demon is summoned to wreak havoc on Haven.)
"I can't believe you suggested McDonald's," Lanie admits to Owen, swinging her arm back and forth, her hand holding onto his, "That's not even real food. All those chemicals." she adds, sounding a little grossed out by the prospect of eating the McChemicals.

"I just go there for the scenery, really, those crackheads in particular are legendary. They even got the McKnuckleduster," Owen laughs a little there, dragging at Lanie's arm with a brisk pace towards the car. Hometown isn't so far away. Just straight south, and a left turn toward the beach. In a Prius.

Ahh a mid-afternoon snack at the local burger joint finds Owen and Lanie making a relatively normal bit of afternoon in this little small town and this too, shall pass. The wind picks up and a little bit of a breeze rolls through bringing with it a hint of the sharper bite of the Bay that lies east of them and somewhat south as the main portion of the town awaits them southward. Just before the pair are preparing to get into of all things a Prius, Owen will receive a quiet, but insistent notification on his cellular phone, buzzing away in his pocket as it refuses to shut itself up.
