HAVEN POLICE AND CRIME REPORTS

Special Crime Update: Mystery Arsonist Strikes Again
by Caprice Walther
Authorities are investigating a mysterious fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon at Best Buy, located in the Haven Mall. A display case containing CDs burst into flame without any apparent cause. This is the third mysterious fire to recently strike in Haven, and while authorities believe them to be the work of the same perpetrator, no suspect or motive have been identified. "He's very clever," said a deputy of the Haven Sheriff's Department, who declined to be identified. Citizens who see any suspicious behavior are encouraged to immediately contact the HSD.

  • A series of mysterious fires have broken out at the B&B, Club Decadence and Best Buy in the past week. The HSD and HFD are working together to currently investigate what the issue may have be.
  • Reports of surprisingly romantic acts of vandalism have been reported around town, on shops doors or even sometimes on the street. Not all of these things seem to be bad, with part of the 'acts' being things like candles leading up to the entrance to The Wild Plum for Valentine's dinner.
  • Buchen's Books, located at 6 Maple Street, is currently off limits to Haven residents pending an investigation by the HSD.

HAVEN SPECIAL EVENTS:

ESSAY CONTEST: Hosted by Town Hall, the Mayoral office will be holding an essay contest with the topic 'How to spend the 2013 Public Service Budget'. Submissions should be 500 words or less, and the winner will be voted on in real-time at an upcoming rally. The reward? A prestigious internship! Favorable participation numbers are expected in this rare opportunity.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH: The Neighborhood Watch meetings have already begun to take place in Haven, carrying high hopes of improving safety and lowering crime rates within the area. The next meeting is already being scheduled, so keep your ears peeled for more information.

VALENTINE'S DAY DINNER:
Looking for something special to do this Valentine's Day? Ruby Monroe, master chef and proprietor of the Wild Plum has planned a romantic and unforgettable Valentine's Day Dinner. Guests will be treated to a five course dinner, including wine and dessert. While we couldn't pry the details of the secret menu from Chef Monroe, we were able to get her to tell us that there will be two choices for each course. Tickets are $100 a head. The dinner will start at 8pm and run until midnight, possibly later. Reservations can be made over the phone or at the restaurant.

VALENTINE'S DAY AFTERPARTY:
Looking for a party for late night thrills? The owner of Club Decadence, DJ Louie, has guaranteed Haven another fabulous dancing event. The theme is currently still being kept under wraps, but will be spread around soon! Reservations for the VIP room can be made over the phone or at the Club itself. Contact Mister Maddox and his staff by phone at: 1206164.

The Haven Sheriff's Department (HSD) would like to remind everyone this special Valentine's Day not to drink and drive. Taxis are always available no matter what time of the day or evening and a few dollars spent on a ride will always be better than a night or two in jail, having to post bail.

WEEKLY HAVEN CITIZEN SPOTLIGHT: DJ Louie

?

A professional-quality photograph has been inserted on the page:
Natural sunlight illuminates the tall, Caucasian man centered in the picture. Far off in the distance, the cool blue of the ocean can be seen in a background dominated by a rather fancy looking club. Those who are travel-saavy might recognize it as a location in Barcelona. Wearing a loose, thin white shirt, the attractively slim young man has tousled spikes of bleach blond hair and striking clear blue eyes. He almost looks dazed, but that might just be the brightness of the photograph paired with his easy smile.

Name: Louis Maximus Maddox (DJ Louie)
Occupation: Professional DJ / Night Club Owner

Originating from New York, Mister Maddox, more commonly known by his stage name of DJ Louie, has already made his striking and energetic appearance right here in Haven. From A-list club events to themed dance parties, we sat down with this charismatic 21 year old man to get filled in on his life. Having dropped out of Harvard medical school and having absolutely no regrets, Mister Maddox claims that music is his everything and he has found happiness doing what he loves. Currently, he's working on expanding his scene globally. In my first hot-tub interview surrounded by opulant decor and even peacocks and zebras, I was introduced to the 'Maddox' side of town.

Q: You've obviously done VERY well for yourself. Peacocks, a zebra, a gorgeous mansion and now starting up clubs all over. What would you consider was your claim to fame?
A: My claim to fame, Avery? My dear, it was the moment I set foot behind my first DJ deck, in a small little club in New York I hardly remember the name of. Open mic night, slumming it, so to speak. Rich family, rich lifestyle, didn't exactly approve of me in the area! [laughing] Though my true fame came about when I opened my first club, Amour, in the beautiful city of Paris. Now don't get me wrong, it wasn't a fantastic, extraordinary place. It was small, underground and full of [alcohol].

Q: Will you tell your readers a story about what a day in your life is like?
A: I don't think I can tell the readers the full day! [laughing] I'll often wake at around... ten, eleven, a nice sleep in for me. Then it's straight to work. I answer calls, speak with businessmen and the like for a few hours before I get entirely bored with their theatrics. Then the day is mind. I'll hang about with Krystal, who's the head of my bar staff, I'll text and call friends and normally have at least one of them in my presence at any given time, and I'll spend that small bit of time pining for the girl who won't have me anymore. If I'm working in the club that night, I'll be straight up on the decks. Spreading word over the chat site about a party, thinking up theme ideas and of course, fending off stalkers. I'll drink, party, flirt with pretty girls and then when my club shuts down [and] every last person has left, I stagger over the road here and it's time to finally relax in preparation of the next day.

Q: What's the best and worst things about what you do?
A:
The best thing about what I do is when I step on stage and start my set, and just know that all eyes are on me. I gauge the mood of the club, I hold power in my fingers. The worst thing is dealing with those who get too drunk, but then again, I have a whole team of bouncers.''

Q: And then, what are your biggest pet peev?
A:
I hate rudeness among people. I cannot abide people who cannot merely offer a smile and a laugh. Sure, I'm guilty of such. But if I am in someone's establishment, I am polite and positive to them and the place. I wish such could be said about others.''

Q: Final question and I'm sure you saw this one coming. Rumors have spread far and wide about your 'special' video with Fabulous Jack. How was it in printable terms and do you have any regrets?
A: It was one of the greatest experiences in my life, outside of my trip to New York with that special someone. Fabulous Jack is a man I would consider a close personal friend and has given me great, great advice. He and I are alike in a good many things, really. And my only regret is that I've not been able to do it more often!

ASK THE CITIZENS:

Around Haven, there have been an increase in couples spotted around town in time for this holiday season: giggling, happy, moon-eyed and so forth. Our reporting team went around Haven, stopping people on the street and wanting to know personal answers to our questions!

  • "What is your ideal romantic Valentine's Date?"

"My ideal romantic Valentine's date is, as cliche as it sounds, a shopping spree with the woman of my dreams, where I lavish her as the Queen she is to me. Then a nice, private and romantic candlelit dinner with no expense spared, then perhaps a flight in my private jet to arrive the next day in Hawaii or Paris. So it stretches over two days really." - Louis Maddox, 21

"Eating somewhere delicious in a private place so I don't have to apologize if I get handsy." - Janice Wright, 21

  • "What is your favorite pick up line?"

"Huntin Zombies.. Uh.. Baby if you were a booger, I'd pick you first." - Blake Harris, 24

"Will you go out with me. - It's the only one that's ever worked so far." - Mali Suttiku, 18

"I'm from Kansas so... I don't really have one. They were normally like 'My corn field or yours'." - Janice Wright, 21
