Legion

Introduction

The demonic eidolon known as Legion claims to be the emanation of a confederation of demonic powers, one of the many factions who war in Hell. Legion claims it is the same demon expelled by Christ on the edge of the sea of Galilee, though such a claim cannot be independently verified. Historically, cults related to Legion are known to supernatural scholars in the 9th century, the 14th century, and more or less consistently from from the 16th century on.

At various times, Legion claims to be one identity -- often representing itself as a Black Goat -- or exhibits multiple identities, claiming to contain among others Samael, the Prince of Fire, Lilith, the First Seductress, Mammon, the Lord of Greed, Valefar, the Duke of Thieves, Aamon, the wolf-headed lord of wrath, and others. At several points in its history cults dedicated to Legion have been at war with rival cults who claim the same demonic patron, each accusing each other of heresy and lies.

In recent months, Legion has become more active. The eidolon -- or perhaps the trapped demonic powers who manifest it -- is increasingly concerned about the prophecies that suggest the world ends in 2037. Legion has been actively recruiting followers, offering them arcane power and secrets in exchange for their service.

Stories

Legion drives three or four different stories in Haven:

Occult Stories: Legion promises occult power in exchange for service. Someone who wants to learn magic can find in Legion a teacher; similarly, bargains for other powers, like Faust, will find Legion a ready participant.

Corruption & Sin Stories: Legion is trying to achieve ascension by corrupting people to embrace their sins, particularly the seven deadly sin -- Pride, Envy, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Wrath and Sloth. If you want sin-related roleplay, Legion will push you to it.

Religious & Metaphysical Stories: Legion is a classic goetic demon with a Haven twist. People who want to engage with the metaphysics of Haven, especially questions about metaphysics, the origin of magic, the end of the world, and good or evil will find Legion a good set of stories to engage with.

RP Hooks

  • Anyone can invoke or summon Legion to bargain with for magical power. The TRUST command is the best and easiest way to do this.
  • Legion's servants are in a cult, The Damned. Seeking out its members is a great way to become involved in Legion RP.
  • A great deal of information can be found in the Archives, not all of it immediately easy to find. RESEARCH LEGION is a great place to start.
