Ethans Syndicate Bargain

Ethan strides into the Southern Meeting Room of the Town Hall, his expression betraying a blend of curiosity and detest at the flesh market auction laid out before him as a veneer for legal trade. With disdain in his voice, he hands the Syndicate agent the demanded fee, all while scrutinizing a vague description that slowly solidifies into a suspicion. As the auction looms, Ethan's patience wears thin; the sight of brandished weaponry held by Syndicate guards keeps him in check. Tension escalates at the revelation of the abducted—Carmine, a comrade. Ethan's lethal ultimatum cuts through the air, a promise of retribution that's all too real. The Syndicate guard, considering the stakes and the transaction settled, releases Carmine without a challenge.

Carmine, seemingly unshaken by her ordeal, dusts off her coat while offering Ethan a reserved thanks for his intervention. Her nonchalance indicates this isn't her first brush with danger. Ethan's demeanor softens considerably upon her release, though the distaste for the Syndicate's actions lingers unresolved. The guards, dismissive of the finished business, proceed to dismantle the makeshift stage. With Carmine free, the two briefly discuss the unresolved fate of another missing comrade, to which Carmine responds indifferently. As both prepare to depart, Ethan confirms Carmine's well-being, to which she coolly affirms. With a final curt exchange and a mutual understanding of the debts paid between them, they part ways—Ethan hinting at a later catch-up and Carmine intent on retrieving her car.

In Town Hall Southern Meeting Room

It is about 50F(10C) degrees.

"I hate these people," Ethan mentions, stepping into the impromptu flesh market auction masquerading as an auction for other legitimate wares. Exhaling, Ethan approaches the setting no small amount of trepidation.

Reading the description provided to him by the shady individual, Ethan's brows cock upwards with no small amount of curiosity, though he seems to be able to reach no conclusion as to who it might be. "Fine," Ethan says, his voice bitter, as he hands the agent two tens and a five dollar bill. "I loathe you people. I truly do."

"Wait," Ethan says, reviewing the description of the abducted personage again. "I think I know who this is," Ethan spits, reaching behind himself as if he were about to strike at the Syndicate agent. He catches himself, however, especially when he casts an appraising sidelong gaze at some of the other armed guards in the meeting room.

Tapping with foot with mild impatience, Ethan checks his phone to see how long these proceedings are going to last. "We done here?" Ethan asks, seeing no other major competitors for whomever happens to be on bid.

With his suspicions confirmed upon catching sight of Carmine, Ethan casts a glower over towards the Syndicate guard that leads Carmine out from the back. "You have five seconds to untie her before I put a bullet in your head," Ethan threatens, the man reaching behind him for something unseen before continuing: "and then I find out how well your family mixes with plastic explosives." He is dour, angry, and the threat is likely not empty given his overall disposition and body language at these proceedings. It would seem that the guard does not wish to try his luck, or perhaps there is no need to given that currency has changed hands. Nonetheless, the guard complies and Carmine swiftly finds that binds that once covered Carmine's hands are cut.

Carmine looks mildly peeved but not mistreated so when she is untied she simply pushes to stand and brushes off her coat of any perceived dust and dirt, "He was in the back seat of my car. The syndicate is getting bolder." she gives Ethan a polite tip of her head then and a brief, "Thank you." as one does when rescued

"S'what comrades do," Ethan mentions, growing noticeably less vicious upon seeing Carmine hale and sound. The Syndicate guards escorting Carmine merely shrug upon seeing Carmine unbound and soon move towards their fellow agents who begin breaking down the rudimentary stage that they had made for the flesh auction. "I really despise these people," Ethan murmurs, still itching to reach towards something behind. Finally, a sigh, and he seems to think better of whatever his anger is likely compelling him to do. "Besides, you saved me once as well."

Carmine vaguely shows recognition of doing that, but since it was such a small act to her she hardly remembers it, "So I did." she agrees. She slips a hand into her coat pocket to check on her phone while she ask Ethan, "No word on the order's lost man after all this time?"

"None," Ethan replies, bringing his arms before him and crossing them at his chest. "Might be fair to say that he is among the other lost now."

"Shame, though his way of speaking disagreed with me." Carmine says to that, she does not look very sympathetic at all. She lets out a breath then tells Ethan, "I have to go find where they parked my car."

Stepping forward to open the town hall door, Ethan cranes a final look over at Carmine. "Take it you're all good then? Heading back home if you are."

Carmine says "I'm good."
Ethan says "Good. Talk to you later, Deluca."
