Harpers Decursing Attempt

As Harper grapples with the nascence of a curse triggered upon finding a gold ring, she calls upon the assistance of others at Sidney Beach. Harper suspects its origins to be fae but discounts the possibility of the Sea Hag's involvement. Ryan, self-proclaimed "book boy," arrives, papers in hand, eager to offer his disjointed expertise. Harper and Savannah, who remains cautiously at the door, speculate on the curse's nature as Ryan thumbs through papers trying to match the curse to his references. Harper warns against dealing with Fae, citing the inevitable misfortune that follows, while expressing relief that the Sea Hag, a known local entity, likely isn't behind this.

The attempt at decursing takes a dramatic turn as the artifact flashes blinding light, prompting complaints and concern from the group. The room then oscillates between extremes of heat and cold – a testament to the curse's volatile energy. Throughout this, Ryan presents a seemingly innocuous yet effective tactic, sprinkling consecrated sand over the ring, to ground its energy. Despite the environmental chaos, Harper encourages collective focus, urging everyone to absorb a fragment of the curse to dilute its potency. With Ryan's invoking of spirits through his makeshift chant and Harper's intense willpower, the curse is finally broken. The incident comes to a close as the group, having endured the perilous temperature fluctuations and the ring's fierce resistance, emerges victorious, the golden shackle of their ordeal finally cast aside.

On the Manicured Sands of Sidney Beach

It is afternoon, about 48F(8C) degrees, and the sky is covered by dark grey stormclouds.

Harper says "I was just out on the beach and a gleam of gold caught my eye. Of course I collected it but now it seems I have activated a curse."
Harper says "if anyone is available to assit me to quieten it. I am at Sidney beach"
Harper says "it is unclear, it will show it's nature in time"
Harper says "One never has enough knowledge. A life should be spent learning"
"We can take this indoors." Harper suggests, gesturing towards the open door to the west. "It's a little more secluded"

Taking off his shoes as he walks down the beach and shedding his suit jacket, Ryan upnods to Harper and Zdenik, "Sup, bros. I'm Ryan. I uh..." he opens up his messenger back and takes out a few pieces of crumpled paper, "I'm a book boy? So I um...I think I have some stuff that may work for this."

"Welcome in and we could sit at the table I think." Harper says with a warm smile

Motioning with his gripped couple of crumpled papers, Ryan points to Harper, "Harper, right?" he asks and then looks to Zdenik, "And who are you, bro?"

"Oh, I've seen you around town of course Deputy." Harper confirms with a nod as she takes a seat "But I don't really tend to be involved in issues so we've not met formally."

"I try to support all those within Haven as best I can, I just happen to have run into quite a few of you," Savannah says to Ryan with a nod in his direction, "But I don't have any true affiliation with any of the groups, specifically." She nods her head, looking between those gathered, "I think you all might have it handled, but I did want to come check, these feelings are not easy to shake and one of these things in the wrong hands could not go over well."

"Harper yes." Harper gives a nod to Ryan then turns her attention to the ring she'd found, turning it over in her fingers to check for any sort of markings that may give some sort of clue about its nature.

Stepping aside to let Savannah pass from behind him, Zdenik casts his gaze about the spacious living room then back over his shoulder to the open door. He raises an eyebrow at the group, gestures to it, then shrugs and moves to join them at the table. "Sedlak," he tells Ryan, nodding a polite if visibly detached greeting to the younger man.

Pressing the crumpled papers against the table and flattening them out, Ryan starts to read from them. "Okay...so do we know if the curse is like...egyptian, meso..per...whatever that is...uh...Aztec? There's something here for some kind of...uh...russian curse. Fuck, uh...what does it look like, Harper?" he asks as he flips to the second page, "There's like one for each of these."

"It may be fae in origin, I felt a slight tingle of recognition from it when I picked it up." Harper reveals as she considers the rings origin "I wonder.. would the sea hag set this out there? Right outside my door on the beach. It seems a bit too blatant though to be her style, and she knows I don't like gold so I'd never wear it." the woman shakes her head to herself and decides "No, not the Sea Hag's works, she would have chosen silver."

The artifact emits a flash of blinding light.
"Seddy boy, dude, uh...let me see." Ryan says as he flips another page to see the back of it and then shrugs, "Let's see if we can like...just do a general curse breaking?" he asks as he fumbles through some words, "Moch lachem nomaru, see ugmakaru ilium, As above, So Below, bind this magic and let it free. Muhari xantho shalakha!" he says as he reads through the pages, flipping through them to see if there's something in Fae.

"Sea Hag?" Ryan says as he blinks at Harper, "Don't like gold? Why would that be?" and then he's blinded by a flash and he covers his eyes, "Auggh! Why does this do that thing!"

Savannah looks around the room, and those gathered, remaining near the door for now, leaving the object to the experts. She casts a glance over her shoulder, into the beach area, eyes searching perhaps for those in the public who might stray into this area. She looks back towards the living room and the trio, just in time for that blinding light, nice. She lifts a hand to try and shield herself from it and says, "Alright then." She rubs at her eyes afterwards, blinking a few times.

The flash of light causes Harper to blink her eyes, keeping them closed a while to settle from the sudden burst "Shit." she murmurs "I need to rememebr to add welders goggles to my kit." With her eyes still closed then woman replies "Not her real name, but the bitch doesn't deserve that recognition. Just know this. Never.. NEVER make deals with Fae. It's just not ever going to end well for you or your loved ones."

"I hope no one is wearing any kind of magnetic metals in their private parts." Harper asks with a hint of mirth after slowly peeling her eyes open again and adjusting back to the light of the room. "And I hope we do not have to find out why I asked." she adds, looking back to the ring as she turns it again seeking clues as to how to unwind the curse bound to it.

For several seconds the room grows painfully hot.
Looking through his bag and pulling out some sort of sand as he starts to sprinkle it over the artifact. "This may help ground it. Like uh...I read somewhere that certain kind so of sand from consecrated ground is like...you know, electrical to uh...outlets." Starting to sweat as the room grows how, Ryan runs his fingers through his shaggy blonde hair, swiping it out of his face as he sweats profusely and gritting his teeth as he keeps sprikling sand over the object. "It's releasing energy! That's a good sign, it's just...man, it's fucking hot in here, bros!"

Savannah begins to recover from the blinding light in time to feel the room grow hot. The open door's breeze is probably welcome now and she leans closer to it, letting it come through and over it. She does respond to Harper with, "Don't have any of those, but hopefully my sidearm does not cause any problems." She checks the button on the holster, just in case.

Harper puffs her bangs with an upwards breath, trying to cool herself as she concentrates on dispelling the activity of the ring. "Focus your will onto it." the woman coaches "If we all soak up a small part of the curse each it will drain without causing any particular one of us too much damage. Then I can take it in and see if the Goblins can figure out who may have set it." she looks back towards Savannah and nods "Sometimes I feel there could be a case for 3D printed guns."

For several seconds the room grows painfully cold.
Focusing hard, Ryan stares at the ring intensely, "Bruh." he says as his mind whirls, the full intensity of the surfer himbo's will being drilled towards the object of intention. He grits his teeth as he shivers from the onset of intense cold, the sweat dripping down his face instantly freezing and the ends of his hair getting small icicles as he shivers. "It's...working....releasing..." he says through gritted teeth as he holds out his hand, palm open towards it and focuses all of his will into pushing away whatever is in the cursed ring.

Savannah shifts her stance to focus more towards the table, and the object itself. She stares at it now, channeling that resting bitch face and some willpower right into it. She is fanning herself as well from the heat, but soon, that shifts and now it is cold. Her breath, through an exhale, shows in a fine mist, "True, sometimes those could be very useful, but also, dangerous for everyone to be able to obtain and I do hope it is working... I'm trying."

If Harper had hands free, she'd pull them to her torso and try to wrap herself in warmth as the room rapidly chills in an alarming drop of temperature "You're hot and you're cold." she sings to the ring then shakes off that hought and grumbles at it "Why don't you just give up! leave us all alone, no one is going to wear you so surrendeer already!" as if it is sentient.. it could possibly be.

For several seconds the room grows painfully cold.
The cold continues as Ryan shivers, reaching for his jacket with one hand to drape it over Harper shoulders to at least warm her up a tad while he runs his fingers through his hair and shakes his head, "Should have brought some warmer clothes!" he says as he focuses on the item, "Release the curse without a burst, calm and still, by power of will!" he chants as he holds out his hand towards it.

Harper wriggles to settle the jacket on her shoulders more, offering a smile of grattitude to the dude "There is power in rhymes." she then tells him, approving of his little chant "It helps to focus the will and intent. This is why they chant in rhyme at protest gatherings too. It's like casting a magic spell, but often the corportations have their own witches behind closed doors chanting counter spells."

With a final burst of power the curse on a golden ring is broken.
