Selinas Decursing Attempt 240403

(Selina's decursing attempt)

[Tue Apr 2 2024]

In The Forest

It is night, about 45F(7C) degrees, and the sky is covered by dark grey stormclouds. There is a waning crescent moon.

Selina finds a little patch of forest with a campsite after picking up the bracelet. She dons her headlamp and crouches down in the center of the campsite, trying to keep out of view of any nearby passersby. The tree cover helps tremendously for this. She sits down lotus style and holds the bracelet in her hands. She stares at it, intently, then bows her head and starts to mutter something in an otherworldly language.

Selina continues her quiet chant over the bracelet for a while, allowing energy to build up around her. She focuses that energy into the bracelet, insulating the cursed magics within it to dampen its power source. She peeks up and looks around, checking for anyone looking her way, but upon seeing no one, goes back to her task. The bracelet starts to glow a soft blue hue the more she talks to it.

A section of Selina's clothing catches fire.

Selina glances around when she hears a bird in the distance, but soon returns her attention to the task at hand. And then she is getting set on fire. A brief flash of panic covers her features, but she waves her hand over her pants and removes the heat with a flash of cold that freezes the air around it. Then she flexes her hand to shatter the ice off of her and looks back to the bracelet. She returns to her chanting in an otherworldly tongue, and it continues to grow a brighter and brighter blue as she goes.

Blue cursed bracelet in hand, Selina remains in her lotus style seated position, chanting quietly to the bracelet. She takes long, deep breaths, almost trying to meditate as she chants, losing herself in the magic, the moment, in order to wrap more and more energy around the bracelet. It starts to shine almost as bright as her headlamp, so she takes a moment to turn it off before refocusing on it.

Growing air pressure makes your ear's pop uncomfortably and deadens all sound.
Selina blinks as the air pressure shifts and makes her ears pop. She lets out a sigh, but it does not change most of her activity in the slightest. She continues with her chant, and the bracelet continues to glow brighter. She just sounds a little strange to herself with her hearing deafened for a bit.

Selina settles in for the final push of her ritual to break the curse on the bracelet. She maintains her chants, forcing her energy to harden around the curse and crack it open. The energy disperses, and she is left with an uncursed bracelet and a need to find a market door.

With a final burst of power the curse on a silver bracelet is broken.
