One might be forgiven for seeing in Nathan a weak link in the otherwise incredibly formidable MITs; he lacks the others' raw intellect, he lacks many of their talents. Taken at face value, he could easily be mistaken for another finance bro: arrogant and not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. Nathan isn't lacking in self-awareness. He knows what he is, and what he isn't, and that's made him hungry to prove himself in a way that can be dangerous. He's wealthy and well-connected: his uncle hosts a popular new reality television show. Most importantly, he possesses a cruelty and cunning that almost makes up for his other deficits, and there are times when raw ambition can make up for a lack in genuine talent.
