WHKG 103.3 – The Guillotine

WHKG is Haven's local radio station, run by a collection of people who sort of just like being on the airwaves. The Guillotine runs a bit towards cacophony – that is, it's a mish-mash of whatever the person on-air wants it to be, though it's primarily a wide-spanning music station without a clearly defined genre.

Advertising

Channel advertisements are run periodically, to help fund the actual channel. Businesses interested in having radio advertisements should contact one of the above-listed DJs (or all of them, preferably) to discuss it. Advertisements generally run for a week for $20 before being swapped out, but longer or shorter payment plans can be negotiated.

Music Played

The style of music varies greatly between DJs, from Lady Hitchcock's rock and 1920s jazz to Bond's electronica and classical. Groups frequently played by the various people working at WHKG can be found below.

Hitchcock:
Nirvana, Amanda Palmer & the Grand Theft Orchestra, White Lung, Garbage, The Beatles, The Pretty Reckless, Donovan, The Dresden Dolls, The Eagles, Iron Maiden, Train, etc.

Other Information

During the evenings, between 11pm and 5am, Bond does a different sort of thing entirely. Information on the supernatural world, supernatural news, and even natural news with supernatural undertones are presented to listeners in the manner of someone making up plausible fictional stories. He jokes about the fog holding world-destroying horrors as if it's all in good fun, comments on the unusual amount of wolves in the area, and sometimes even pokes fun at the dead. (Zombies are amusing, after all.)

Because Bond is a vNPC for the foreseeable future, please speak to Frances OOCly if your PC wants to talk to him.

OOC Information

Anyone interested in being part of the WHKG team should send a note to Frances OOCly, unless they'd like to go through an IC process of being hired – which is perfectly fine too, though it means you need to take initiative. The radio station is currently set up on a house-style property, so weekly pay will be lower than it might be for a typical job.

Obviously the channel is going to be quiet a lot, because it's hard to play music over channels without some copypasting and knowing what the song is (though it can be done), but anyone who would like to listen (and that's listen, because it's a radio station, not a two-way channel) should set the following information on a custom channel.

Channel Name: WHKG
Channel Freq: 103

During talk-show style segments, it's acceptable for PCs to speak on the channel after calling the active DJ; this way, everyone can hear their conversations.
