Abigails White Oak Choir Practice Easter Play Planning 250411

In the serene, yet lively atmosphere of the White Oak Chapel, choir practice under Abigail's watchful eye spirals into an unexpected session of role-play and planning for an Easter play, with members offering their input in a blend of seriousness and jest. Amidst the debate over which biblical scene to enact, participants grapple with language barriers, hinted at an underlying rivalry, and an array of quirky interjections that momentarily distract from the sacred setting. The suggestion of portraying the Last Supper raises concerns about gender representation within the narrative, prompting imaginative, if not entirely reverent, solutions such as assigning female participants male roles, complete with fake beards. Amidst the chaos, Robin's confused detachment and insistence that the unfolding scenario is a dream adds a layer of surreal levity, challenging the boundaries between reality and imagination within the consecrated confines of the chapel.

As the session unfolds, a sense of camaraderie permeates the chapel, albeit tinged with the peculiar and the profane. Edith's attempt at communicating in a mishmash of French results in an absurd exchange about hunger, whereas Maria's resignation at the enduring presence of the French language reflects a deeper historical awareness. The discussion veers into the bizarre with suggestions ranging from incorporating live snakes to analyzing the sexually charged undertones of the Song of Solomon, drawing a thin line between spiritual upliftment and earthly desires. The involvement of mysterious, possibly divine, entities, identified only by names like Thokk, adds an enigmatic dimension, blending myth with the mundane. The session concludes with a general agreement to contemplate the play further, leaving the participants to disperse with thoughts of what lies beyond, both spiritually and in their immediate, whimsically disrupted lives.
(Abigail's White Oak Choir Practice & Easter Play Planning)

[Thu Apr 10 2025]

In the pews of the White Oak Chapel
Sturdy wooden benches line the aisle, their polished surfaces reflecting the soft, filtered light that streams through the stained glass windows. The pews themselves are intricately carved and embellished, if not overly comfortable looking.

It is about 55F(12C) degrees.

Edith nods to Chiara

"For Heaven's sake. Une, ah... hmph. Une theatre piece de Paques," Abigail ventures, frowning uncertainly at Robin. "Most likely the week after Easter, since some of you are going home for the holidays."

Robin tenses a little as she is addressed by Lenore and gives her a sidelong glance. "Easter? When is Easter?", she mumbles, a question seemingly not addressed to anyone in particular.

Robin blinks at Abigail and says in teh same tone as the french-sounding words before: "When is... Easter?"

"It seems that she won't speak English until somebody has addressed her in French. At least that's my observation," Abigail mentions quietly to Edith. She raises her voice again to add, "Did anyone have any concrete and sensible suggestions, then? The Passion? Or perhaps the Last Supper?"

"Dawn is making this all too confusing" Gabriella complains towards Lanaeis, like he has some guilt on the matter.

Nodding to Abigail, Edith addresses Robin with likely the only french she knows. "Omelette Au Fromage."

"She is, but its funny." Lanaeis responds to Gabriella.

Ezra holds up a finger and very primly adds on to Edith's question, "Je suis un Ananais." He then nods to Lanaeis about whatever they were talking about before pondering, "Which one is Dawn?"

Lenore seems to stop breathing, her entire body tense as she seems to barely hold herself together, eye twitching.

"Dawn is a she?" Gabriella seems surprised by Lanaeis's reply.

"Miss Carthright, I hope you aren't bothering the cheer captain," Abigail tells Ashe, watching that row of the pews suspiciously.

Ashe beams brightly to Abigail "I'm just hoping she has advice for how I can be a better and more contributing cheerleader to the spirit of the school." or something.

widens her eyes. "Oh, you call her Dawn? Cool..." Gabriella replies to Lanaeis, apparently knowing not even her usual names. "That's not who's making this all dificult, I was complaining about, hm, the other."

Robin gives Edith a confused look. "Are you hungry, Doctor Rose?", she mumbles while still standing awkwardly beside the pews. "Is this... are you...."

"Well, that's good," Abigail supposes and nods vaguely to Ashe. "Does anyone object to the Last Supper, then? I suppose there aren't very many female parts in it, but we can always dress some of you in beards."

Maria in contrast to Edith, was a competitive racist, "Their language didn't change as much-... I guess the French are still alive, even after such a long time." There is a defeated sigh that escapes her.

"I want to sign up for a female role, sister!" Gabriella calls out to Abigail.

Ezra shakes his head slightly at Abigail, "No I think I could do a good Thomas or Philip, Sister Abigail."

"Foxes are overrated if you ask me. Too on the face. Too overused" Someone says right from behind Lanaeis, with an added "Kids these days need to get creative"

Ashe calls out to Abigail "Oh, there was a guy that stabbed someone in that one right? Dibs!"

Lenore shakes her head suddenly to defend Ashe, "It's not her Sister... I'm... Simply composing myself!" she grimaces and shudders in place. She then darts a quizzical look at Ashe.

Gabriella turns try to look at who's behind Lanaeis, protesting "they are not!"

Trying a different tact, Edith attempts again before Robin responds in english. "No hablo tu idioma pagano." A success, clearly butchering language works with foreigners.

"You know what, let's give you all a day to think about it. Those of you who have a suggestion - and nothing frivolous or blasphemous, thank you very much - send me a message and I'll select one," Abigail decides and goes about collecting the songbooks. "Miss Harlow, are you alright?"

Robin gives Edith another strange look, glances over the assembled people, visibly tensing as her gaze brushes over Lanaeis. Finally she slinks into the pew behind Lenore and leans towards her a little as she asks in a low voice as if not to distrupt the discussion: "Is this a.... dream?"

Lenore beams an exaggerated smile back at Abigail, "I'm still conscious at the end of this session Sister so I dare say I am doing quite alright compared to the usual!" she shivers, "Even with all the... Slithering. I'm a little worried The Last Supper might have all us gals in fake beards."

"Try not to read that too much Sister, you'll get lost in the incestous perversion of the Bible" The disembodied voice adds, seemingly from behind the two men present in the room

"It's not the fox that's making these... well, making people behave so sacrilegiously!" Gabriella protests more than Abigail on that point, or so it seems to her. Then, turning to Lanaeis, she asks "you know that other spirit's name?"

"It *was* a rather patriarchal event, that's true," Abigail allows and nods pensively to Lenore. "If anyone has a better suggestion, I'm certainly--hmph," she continues and glowers towards Ezra and Lanaeis. "That's enough of that."

"Thokk, apparently," Abigail informs Edith. "The oriental creature told me."

Ashe says, squinting, "Who names themselves Thokk. Does he think he's a cave man?"
"Some brutish pagan," Abigail surmises.

"Your mother more" Is replied, either to Ashe or Abigail

Robin looks around helplessly until her gaze settles on Maria for a moment

"Thock? What kind of name is that?" Gabriella impulsively reacts, then remembers Abigail mentioning something about arab spirits or something of that sort, and so she shrugs and says "Well Thock, bringing all that sex stuff into the church... why'd you do that? You're envious? I mean, you spirits can't have sex, right? I bet that's your problem..."

Ezra holds up a finger, "In the gospel According to Saint Luke there are three women at the last supper and he calls out women specifically among the disciples," he says as if this means anything to anyone that isn't a theology major.

Edith nods to Abigail. "Thokk, if I recall is the only being to not cry to resurrect Baldr in norce mythology."

"Gods can still bleed." Maria mentions to Lanaeis.

"They can, but I'm not stupid enough to try and make that happen." Lanaeis replies easily.

Ashe beams at Lenore "Oh, you always come up with the best ideas! We'll need to get the mice first."

Robin clenches her jaw and keeps looking around nervously before picking up her phone and tapping away on it.

"Celibacy is only frustrating for those with sinful thoughts," Abigail claims to Gabriella and clasps her hands behind her back. "In any case, let's say that choir practice is over for today. You're all welcome to stay in the house of God, but don't do anything untoward."

Edith says "Gods can bleed, though if a true god were to stand among us, we would grow rapidly weaker, and that is if we did not engender its wrath, in which case all of us to not capitulate would be squashed like bugs."
Gabriella frowns at Abigail's words, but, rarely as that might be, the Sister leaves Gabriella without a reply.

"Do not invite people to Perdition's Road... They'll end up as slaves, or worse" The voice replies to Abigail, before the shadows in the room slowly start shifting towards Maria

Ezra glances over to Gabriella with a knowing look and gives her an approving nod, "Should we go to the library and discuss rituals or I think you had an expriment you wanted to talk about?" He pauses then and adds, "Or something. We can stay here too."

Maria huffs, as she stares down at the shadows. "None of you changed, even after seven hundred years." She squints, notably unafraid as the shadows creeped towards her.

"Oh- that: that experiment needs more time than I have today... in fact, I think I'm a bit... tired after all this, maybe we'll leave that for tomorrow?" Gabriella suggests to Ezra, then turning her attention to Maria and the shadows approaching her.. until the leaving guy says something else, that distracts her and makes her wide her eyes.

Lenore snorts a laugh at Ashe, "I'm too tucked out after last night's shenanigans to do any snake hunting, but I would like to study a little," she glances over to Ezra and Gabriella.

Ezra blinks his eyes at the parting Lanaeis and then nods to Gabriella, "No, No I know. We can, yeah, not do that and to the otherthing tomorrow. Sleep well."

Robin slinks back behind Lenore, the same suspicion in her eyes that she had when she entered. She pinches her own arm once, twice and furrows her brow, leans in to Lenore and whispers

Ashe sighs at Lenore "Yeah, forget the snake thing. Let's like make a maze outa the hedges or something. That'd be fun."

Lenore blinks and turn around to give a surprised look at Robin, "Oh...? Okay?"

Ezra looks over to Lenore and smiles gently, "Sure we can study if you want." He glances over his shoulder at Edith almost seeking permission, before back to Lenore, "Rituals or something else?"

Gabriella gestures from Ezra to Lenore and tells him "but you can study with her, why don't you help her with her homework or something?"

Edith motions dismissively towards Ezra. "If you would like to study, go ahead. If I tutor you and Kathlynn together I am saved from doing so twice."

Robin gives Lenore a surprised look, her brow furrowing again and she tilts her head before she leans back in to whisper some more.

"The Lord tests our mettle in many ways, does He not?" Abigail says tiredly to Edith and sits down next to her. "All things considered, I suppose it went well enough."

"Uh...." Ezra says with a stunned frown at Gabriella's question then looks to Edith then to Lenore then back to Gabriella, "If she doesn't do it herself how can she hope to do it right?"

Maria looks around. "Thokk was it's name?" She queries to no one in particular. But- her gaze is distracted by Lenore. "Are you okay?" A moment of weakness - in compassion.

Edith says "I suspect Lenore needs aid with her latest religious studies paper. Something about the song of Solomon and pearls around necks and chariots, breasts, thighs etcetera etcetera."
"Yes" Gabriella replies to Maria, then turns to look at Robin and Lenore, curious.

Robin points at someone while she keeps watching Lenore with furrowed brow.

Lenore reaches down and steps out of her ballet shoes, holding them now by the fingers as her bare feet hit the cold stone, she blinks at Robin, "Who?"

"No name calling now" Is heard around, whispering

Gabriella raises an eyebrow at Edith's comments about the sort of studies Lenore needs.

"He truly does." Edith nods to Abigail after making her snide comment regarding Lenore. "Though we come out all the stronger for it, no?"

Robin points at the air and lets her pointing finger wander until it settles on Maria, her brow still furrowed and her gaze intent.

"It's... why... I mean, should you suggest those things? In here specially?" Gabriella asks Edith with a puzzled frown, then throwing an 'help me out' look towards Abigail.

Lenore reels back with her shoes, almost like she's about to throw them, but hesitates as she sees Robin point at Maria, eyes wide, "W-wait! Why?"

"I'm sure Doctor Rose was just referencing the parts of the songs that may have confused young Miss Harlow," Abigail tells Gabriella and turns in her pew to look back at Lenore. "No fighting in the chapel, girls."

Gabriella looks at Abigail unhappy, but nods.

Lenore calls out to Edith, "I'd very much like that four-point-oh Doctor!"

"I was indeed referencing the song. It is a literary nightmare for someone of the twenty first century." Edith tells Gabriella, apparently completely serious.

Maria tilts her head at Robin and then, looks at Lenore. Confused in her gaze.

Robin keeps staring at Lenore and instead of answering she lets her finger wander again until it points at Gabriella.

Lenore lowers the shoes obediently, "Yes Sister, apologies! I... I'm rather overwhelmed with... something," she blinks as Robin points at Gabriella.

"Perhaps what you all need is some fresh air," Abigail suggests and takes a moment to look around. "Where did Miss Carthright go?"

Ezra takes a moment and lets out a low breath, grumbling, "Alright I will tutor Lenore on Theological issues. Lord grant me strength."

Robin gives Lenore a little nudge and keeps staring at her glasses.

Gabriella nods towards Ezra, then turns towards Robin and asks, "what's your name, really? Taylor, was it?"

Lenore sighs and then chucks her shoe in the direction she thinks Ashe might be!

Ashe yelps as a pair of shoes thock her in the head. "Hey!"

Lenore beams a grin and shimmies, "Found her!"

Ezra whispers something to Gabriella then stands up straight with a smirk on his face.

Ashe croches down to roll under the pews and out of sight again.

"Stop throwing shoes in the house of God!" Abigail huffs.

Lenore shouts across the room at Ashe, "Throw back my shoe you slithering snake!" before wincing, "Apologies Sister!"

Robin blinks at Lenore, glances at Gabriella and lowers her pointing finger slowly. A smile creeps over her pale face as she looks at where the shoes landed, her tense posture relaxing. "So, it is just a dream!", she declares, audibly relieved.

"If it helps you get through the day, Miss Taylor, let's say it is indeed just a dream," Abigail decides and gives Robin a weighty nod. "But you're still to behave yourself with decency and sense."

Maria gives an enigmatic stare at Ashe, but she shakes her head, tapping her feet impatiently. "So I suppose this means the meeting is over?" She asks of Abigail.

Robin shakes her head at Abigail and climbs onto the bench of the pew to stand tall over anyone else, seemingly emboldened by her revelation. "No, I do not... in the dream I am free!", she declares loudly.

Ezra snickers a moment when Florian walks in and asks in a lightly teasing tone, "How did that dental exam go for you last night, Florian?"

Lenore stomps across the chapel barefoot to collect her shoes.

"Yes, you're all free to go if you wish. You can also stay, but no wild behavior," Abigail tells Maria, looking a bit tired in the eyes. "That was a lot for choir practice."

"Miss Taylor, sit down," Abigail continues and frowns up at Robin. "This isn't a playground."

Ezra snickers again, continues teasing the man, "I don't know how many cavities that Lily has but I am sure you found them all the way you were looking in her mouth."

Still looking disheveled, like Florian just woke up from bed and walked right in here, he shakes his head to Ezra. "Shh, dude, what the hell! We're at the chapel."

Abigail clears her throat pointedly at Florian.

Lenore snickers and covers her mouth. She looks at Ezra wide-eyed and then Florian, "Oh wow...!"

Ezra wobbles his head with smug satisfaction before offering Florian, "Sorry man. I couldn't resist."

Florian says "ASHE, STOP HIDING."
Florian says "You know what, screw this, I'ma walk home and get some SHOWER."
Robin sighs softly and climbs down from the pew, instinctively obeying, but she declares just as loudly: "Can't even dream of you without you being a drill sergeant!" Another sigh and she glances over the people again. "I wish I would dream of those I want to beat up once day..."

Ashe smirks, beaming triumphantly.

Maria nods her head at Abigail. "I will, thank you." She muses, with an equally tired expression, she heads to the exit. Only to stop for a moment to look at the group once more... And then leave proper.

"It's rare that I tire of scolding students, young lady, so you're lucky I've just had two and a half hours of choir practice to satiate me," Abigail informs Robin, though she does find the energy to narrow her eyes a little. "You little demons are a trial from God."

"This is not a dream!" Gabriella tells Robin.

Pulling the full lyrics of the Song of Solomon up on Edith's phone, Edith reads through slowly, tongue clucking periodically. "I have to say." she mentions to Abigail in an aside, "If one looks closely, there is a lot-- I mean rather a lot of veiled canoodlings and implied carnality in this song. I had not thought on it before before young Ashe was changing the lyrics, though truly, it astounds me at how clever these song writers are."

Ezra looks at his phone then back up to Robin, "I mean, I can hit you and if you wake up it was a dream, and if you don't it is reality. I mean, why doubt your sense?"

"Well, it's in the Bible so the Lord approves of it," Abigail reasons, though she does give Edith a little nod. "If I want these heathens to stay awake, I have to pick something they can relate to. There wasn't all that many romantic songs to choose from."

Gabriella turns to peek at Florian and Ashe, wondering if theyt're going to get into a fight out there. In fact, she moves to leave the pews and go peek outside...

Robin gives Ezra a patient smile and shakes her head. "Of course it is... she threw her shoes... ugh... why am I explaining myself to...", she sighs and scoots ouf the pew she is in to follow the girl out.

Lenore turns to giggle at Edith's analysis, "It's quite clever I'll admit." She then bats her eyes suddenly, "I should start making jewelry and sell it," she smirks and rubs her chin with a new blossoming idea.

"I suppose the species had to survive somehow," Abigail answers Edith, paying no attention to the commotion out by the door. "I hope it doesn't put any unseemly thoughts in these young minds."

Looking towards the door, Edith clucks her tongue. "Ashe and Florian do look as though they will fight. I suppose we aught leave that to security to deal with. I am but a woman, and not nearly strong enough to break them up, alas."

Ezra frowns a moment as he turns south to look at the crowd, "Huh." he says watching passively, "I have never seen taht before."

Edith says, calling out, "Not on campus you're not."
William nods his head in greeting "Edith"

"I was told I missed quite the spectacle" William comments with a little yawn, turning his head to look around the chapel before asking "What happened?"

"We had choir practice, but some pagan entities saw fit to join us," Abigail informs William, looking a little miffed. "All things considered, it went about as well as can be expected."

snapping her fingers, Edith points to William. "A student here has just awoken to fae blood. I thought you may know -someone- who might help them."

Lenore beams and gives a short bow to Edith and Abigail, "I think I will go... do a little studying," she winks at Ezra, "Lemme know if you and Gabby are interested in some shared study time," she says before wandering over to where the brawl occurred.

William rubs his forehead with a single hand and lets out a sigh, asking Edith "Oh fae blood? Must suck... Did they already start chopping off limbs to do art with them?" He asks before tilting his head southwards, and commenting "Ah, got it..." Before telling Abigail "Most entities are pagan considered nowadays, no?"

"Yes, and rightly so," Abigail tells William bluntly.

Ezra glances back to the assembled teachers and gives a bow of his head. "Doctor, Sister, Bill. If you will excuse me I should return to my studies."

Ezra dips his head again, "Let me know if I can be of further use." and with that he slinks out.

"I may have to look into ways that we might keep these blasphemous spirits out of the chapel," Abigail tells William and rolls her neck tiredly from side to side. "That was rather a lot."

"Can you see spirits, sister?" William simply asks of Abigail first, before tilting his head towards Edith and saying "Oh, then she'll come to the shop in a couple days... How exciting, yes? Stepping foot into the Other right after activating... What a nice welcome to how horrible the lucky blooded are"

"I can expulse an ordinary spirit of the dead when I must, but these deitic entities are beyond me," Abigail admits and takes a look around the chapel. "One of them was trying to distract me all throughout choir practice."

"Beyond you and beyond everyone, Sister... I can notice their pressence, or see them slip into people, but that's as much as I can do about them, or that Miss Rose over here could do" William opines with a shrug of his shoulders, considering for a moment before adding "Well, bind them, I suppose we could bind them- But it's an easy way to gain their spite... And who wants an Eidolon against them?"

Checking the time, Edith stands. "If you will excuse me, I have to return home and ready myself for work. I am on earlies today." she tells William and Abigail. Making for the door, Edith comments over a shoulder, "I would certainly not wish their spite."
