Abigails White Oak Homily On Modesty 240217
In the serene ambiance of White Oak Chapel, with its polished pews and soft, filtered light, a moment of personal and spiritual reckoning unfolds for the attendees, led by Sister Abigail. She addresses Harriet with a pointed suggestion about her lifestyle, urging her towards modesty and entrusts Silas with the responsibility of guiding Harriet in this endeavor. The conversation meanders through teachings of modesty and the expectations from the congregation, with Abigail expressing hope for Harriet's improvement through more suitable choices in attire, under Silas's advisement.
As the discussion evolves, the characters reveal their perspectives and struggles with the standards set before them. Harriet's resistance to outright falsehoods about her personal life shows her internal conflict between her authentic self and the expectations of her community. Abigail's decision to leave for home, tasking Harriet with educating her girlfriend on the day's lessons, marks a conclusion to the homily, leaving an atmosphere of reflection. Silas and Harriet share a moment of amusement and mutual understanding in the aftermath, acknowledging the complexity of adhering to such teachings in their real lives. Sister Abigail's parting words resonate with a reminder of the broader expectation from the congregation, to live a life pleasing to the Lord, encapsulating the homily's core message amidst the personal journeys of the attendees.

In the pews of the White Oak Chapel
Sturdy wooden benches line the aisle, their polished surfaces reflecting the soft, filtered light that streams through the stained glass windows. The pews themselves are intricately carved and embellished, if not overly comfortable looking.
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
"It's one thing to live in sin with a young lady, but I had hoped that you could go about it in a less frivolous and creative manner," Abigail tells Harriet a little pointedly and turns her attention to Silas. "Perhaps there's hope for her. Do me a favor an encourage her to buy something you find suitable."
"I'm an optimist, Father. I believe we can find a way," Abigail answers Jack.
"I am not sure when that thrifting trip will happen as it seems like she has been busy lately with other things, but I can do my best to have her get something I find suitable, Sister," Silas agrees with the task the Sister has placed upon his shoulders and his attention drifts to Harriet now to hear the woman's response to the previous point made by Abigail.
"I hope so, Sister," Jack tells her. "I have been pleased with our students, lately -- Mr. Arkwright, it's good to see you."
"It is good to see you as well, Father Jack," Silas says to Jack as he turns towards where the man is standing, producing a smile for him, "I am just trying to learn all I can and help out as I am able. As the Sister said we don't want to stick our necks out too far because then we might have scabs on our head and secret parts revealed."
"That's right," Abigail confirms and nods solemnly to Silas.
Harriet coughs lightly when Abigail seems to have hoped that she and her girlfriend only did missionary style positions... "I will refrain from..." No, that would be a lie. She purses naturally full lips, and glances at the ceiling, perhaps heavenward.
"In any case, I think I need to get home and water my plants," Abigail decides and steps down between the pews to head out. "Miss Fairfax, be sure to give that *girlfriend* of yours a summary of what you learned today."
"Did you and Sam stick your necks out too far?" Silas asks Harriet now after confirmation of his assessment from Abigail's homily quote. He just looks amused as he asks, "I missed that part." There is a wave to Abigail as he begins to rise up from the pews now, "Thank you for your efforts, Sister. I might go find something to do, myself."
"You're welcome, Mister Arkwright. It's important that you charlatans learn how to please the Lord," Abigail mentions to Silas and gives him a curt nod in parting.
Harriet rises from the pew, adjusting her blouse gently with a few pulls of fingertips to the polka-dotted material. "It was lovely to see you, Sister Abigail, and thank you for allowing me to attend. I look forward to the next." Assuming she is not banned after today's involvement. "I will ensure Sam knows all about the importance of modesty and that we do not need to talk about bondage gear and what toys were used during confessions," is assured. Looking to Silas, she tells him, "Sister Abigail told us to make confessions..."
Harriet explains, "The first to confess got told he needed to share more details, so when I went second, I supposed I was expected to do the same," to Silas.
Abigail clears her throat quietly.
