Dahlias December Craft Night 241214
In the art studio of Creativity Outlet, a cozy scene unfolded as Dahlia hosted a December Craft Night, inviting participants to dive into the holiday spirit with gingerbread constructions and ornament decorations. Epigram, intrigued by the craft night offerings, decided to embark on creating a gingerbread book house, her interest piqued by the array of decorations provided by Dahlia. Amidst laughter and playful exchanges about potential chocolate mishaps, Trevor settled into the creative process, choosing a snowman-shaped ornament to start his artistic venture. His introduction to Epigram added a layer of friendly acquaintance to the nurturing environment, as participants shared their names and embarked on their individual craft journeys.
As the night progressed, the studio buzzed with creativity and personal stories. Brian entered, adding to the community feel, though his visit was brief, waiting for someone named Emma. Conversations veered from the crafts at hand to shared experiences and updates on life, including Epigram's unexpected employment at a newly transformed Italian sub shop, formerly a beloved bookstore. The narrative wove together moments of concentrated crafting with ease of interaction, culminating in Trevor's satisfaction with his glittery snowman ornament and plans to decorate his tree. Dahlia's engagement with each attendee, from offering gingerbread kits to sharing in the casual conversations, underscored the event's fostering of community and creativity. The craft night concluded on a note of accomplished projects and the promise of homes adorned with the evening's creations, encapsulating a shared experience that blended artistry with the warmth of new and existing connections.

[Fri Dec 13 2024]
In the art studio of Creativity Outlet
The art studio of the Creativity Outlet is a spacious area, dedicated to the activity of making art. There are a few long art tables, big enough for three or four people. An art table near the front is likely the 'teacher's table' for when a class or Craft Night is in session. A row of easels with a collection of canvases also stand at the ready. The walls are decorated with calming pastel colors and pleasantly contrasting decals.
A small sign hangs on the wall, welcoming people to utilize the craft room when there isn't a class in session but reminding them to clean up after themselves.
It is about 50F(10C) degrees.
Dahlia accepts the money from Epigram and makes a note with a smile. "Do you want the gingerbread kit to start or some ornament bases?"
Epigram scratches her head and says, "Gingerbread.. Yeah, I should make the gingerbread book house."
Dahlia gives a kit over to Epigram, "Yes! I'm excited to see how it turns out. Help yourself to any of the extra frosting and candies for decorations."
Epigram looks amused a moment and asks, "Okay, but like, what if someone ends up with choclate face?"
Trevor plops himself into an art table, and arranges his ornaments - a little bit of a thoughtful expression on his face as he decides on where to begin.
Dahlia laughs at that, "I won't tell if you won't."
Dahlia looks toward Silas, "I was going to make a couple ornaments for the tree our front I think. Do you want one? Or to get creative with gingerbread?"
"I'll take an ornament missiong to see what I can get going," Silas says to Dahlia with a smile as he looks towards her, "We could definitely get that tree decorated."
Dahlia says "and I'm here to help with constructing or answering any questions. Tonight is a bit more free form that how I envision some going, but I figure the holiday season is kind of hectic and it's just nice to sit and work on something freeform"
Epigram decides to get to some serious gingerbread work. .
It seems Trevor's has decided on which one to start on. A snowman shaped ornament. The man lays it down on the table, glancing around at all the art supplies there and begins to gather up what he needs, using the reference as a guide. All the paints, the ribbons, and some buttons.
Trevor then begins coating the snowman in paint, using some white paint to thoroughly coat it entirely. "Oh," he says, glancing over towards Epigram. "I don't think we've met, I'm Trevor, by the way."
Epigram eyes someone as if she's sizing him up for some reason. "Yeah? Cool, I'm Epigram." She watches him fro a reaction. Weird.
Epigram eyes Trevor as if she's sizing him up for some reason. "Yeah? Cool, I'm Epigram." She watches him fro a reaction. Weird.
"That's a cool name," Trevor replies, "Compared to Trevor? Mine's boring." He smiles at her, then refocuses back on his work. "Nice to meet you though, Miss." He comments idly, while the white paint on his snowman dries.
Epigram eyes Trevor a moment later and says, "Totally. So like what are you going to make? A gingerbookstore too?"
"Nah," Trevor says, holding up his now dry snowman ornament. "I got some ornaments to make! Wanna decorate the tree at my house with 'em."
Dahlia considers a moment before picking up a snowflake ornament base for herself to start working on, though she keeps a kit nearby too. "I might try making a little gingerbread cabin or something after I do my ornament."
Epigram shifts a little and says a little self consciously, "Oh right, tree."
Silas leans himself forward, taking the sphere into his hand as he inspects it and looks up towards the others, "Trying to think of a theme here..." He looks at the other items available, checking some of the guides that are around and reading into it, "Hmm..."
Dahlia chuckles, "Yeah, I think my snowflake is going to be a more traditional looking one..." She decides. "Do either of you have any plans for the holidays?" She asks Trevor and Epigram.
Dahlia says "Hi Brian! We're in the craft room if you want to join!"
Brian nods and smiles as he walks in. "Evening, folks."
Dahlia smiles to Brian. "Good to see you, Brian. How are you doing?"
When Trevor's snowman is dry, he moves on to the next step, reading the guide a moment. "Oh!" he comments out, "Sparkles..." It seems a little odd for the large man to be so concerned with sparkles, but, well, when in Rome...
Picking up the the spray-glue, he applies it, then just shakes on some glitter, perhaps a lot of it, just in order to really get his snowman sparkling. "Don't think I have any real plans," he says towards Dahlia. "Might just be at home with my girlfriend, spend a comfortable evening with her, then.. who knwos, I guess? You?" Trevor glances to Brian, "Hello."
Brian smiles at Dahlia. "Doing fine, thanks. How are you?" he asks the woman.
Epigram shifts and tells Dahlia, "I should like go see my parents or something."
"I'm doing good! No Emma tonght?" Dahlia asks, glancing briefly to the main room and then back to Brian. "Did you want to buy a ticket for the craft night? We're doing gingerbread houses and ornaments!"
Brian nods. "I'm hoping she'll be around before long, so I'll wait until she shows up. I think she thought that your event started at 8, for some reason." he says, with an apologetic smile.
Epigram looks up from her making a gingerbread... something. "It started at eight?"
Epigram checks the time on her phone and remarks, "I was early."
Dahlia shakes her head, "No. It started at six because I had to reschedule. The previous time was for eight though."
Brian shakes his head. "No, the calendar said six... ah, there we have it." he says.
Epigram nods to Brian but says, "Totally, except like what zone?"
Brian shrugs to Epigram. "I haven't seen you in a bit, Epi. How's it going?"
With the glitterfying of his snowman complete, Trevor moves on, carefully following the guide.
Trevor takes the tweezers, and carefully, carefully places some buttons on the snowman's face - two eyes, a mouth. There's a little look from him, one that seems to say, 'Damn, good work' before he moves on and applies some orange paint to the snowman's face, making it look as much like a carrot as he can.
Epigram sighs a bit, "You know, since like the book store turned into an Italian sub shop of someting, and I found they like kept the employemnet records so technically I work there?" She lets that hang in the air then says, "Weird, but like I dunno, like maybe I will try my hand at making subs anyway? You know? Can't be harder than making coffee."
Brian nods. "Yeah, they kept me on the books, too, but I decided to leave. I wasn't going to keep working for someone who took all the remaining books from the store and threw them into a dumpster out front."
"Who even owns that sub shop?" Trevor asks idly, while typing a few text messages here and there, unfocused on his work for the moment. "I go out of town for a while, come back, and the place is just there, completely unopened."
"I have no idea, myself." Brian says with a shrug.
Dahlia mulls for a mment, "I know they talked in chat for a bit before everyone flamed them. Noi dea who it is though."
"That just definitely seemed like the worst decision possible," Trevor admits with a little shrug. "Everyone seemed to like the Black Rose, and the fact he just went up and replaced it definitely seemed like an odd choice."
Brian nods in agreement. "It did seem foolish. Hopefully they at least finish and open the place, so that we didn't lose the Black Rose for nothing."
Trevor nods in complete agreement at that, "Yeah, hopefully, but, do we really need more food places? That pizza shop still is barely even opened, I don't think? Now this one?" He makes a little 'tsk' in the back of this throat before looking back at the artistry that is his completed snowman ornament. Somewhere along the way he was idly working, adding a scarf, a button and some mittens.
finishes glitterfying her snowflake, knocking off some excess. "There are a lot of eateries." Dahlia agrees, "I didn't even know we -had- a pizza place? Though, I guess you said it's barely open." She decides, inspecting her ornament and carefully setting it aside.
Trevor nods, "Yeah, it's on Ash Street." He says, "I've gotten a pizza from there before, though. So maybe it's fully opened now? I'm unsure."
Epigram rubs her head and looks around, "Wow, totally spaced out." She looks at her work so far.
Trevor carefully puts his glittery snowman ornament away before moving onto the next one. A sphere!
Dahlia chuckles, "It's super easy to get lost in the work!"
Brian grins and nods. "It is."
Silas begins to fiddle with the various options he has before himself, taking the ornament into a hand and leaning against an elbow now to take various decoration ideas and put them together. Some sparkles here. A little fake snow there. He's starting to take some paint as well, darkening the overall ornament to make it look a little more, well, black. It takes on a space vibe to the whole thing with stars and snow and spirals of galaxies maybe within, but it also looks like an amateur did it, maybe arts and crafts isn't his best form of artwork.
Trevor begins the process of his sphere, once again, following the guide to heart. Not straying from the path so to speak. It worked very well for him the first time, and there's really no need to fix what ain't broke.
"Hey," he says, "This is really fun, Dahlia. I appreciate you hosting this."
Dahlia flashes a smile to Trevor, "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself!" She says as she is trying to carefully place some gingerbread squares together on the platform.
Dahlia peeks over at what Silas is working on, grinning. "I like the colors on that, babe."
Epigram is probably making a mess. She looks like she's making a mess.
Trevor finishes up his sphere shaped ornament, and then moves on to his last. The gingerbread man!
For the third, and final time - at least for now. He's religiously following the guide, referring to at as he glances from paints to object.
"Well, I'm going to go home and make some dinner, and wait on Emma. If you're still around when I hear from her, we'll head back over." Brian says with a smile to both Dahlia and Silas.
Silas is making an attempt and grins up at Dahlia when he looks over towards her, "Thank you. I'm definitely trying my best, but I honestly don't work in glitter and glue that often..."
Brian waves to those gathered, and heads for the door.
Trevor works diligently and finishes up his ornament. Before gathering them all up carefully. "I gotta get going as well," he says to everyone. "But, thank you again for this, Dahlia. I really had a good time, and I think these are going look great on my tree!" The mans hands are covered in glitter, and there's probably some dusting his flannel shirt as well.
Dahlia chuckles, hands already definitely covered in frosting. "Yeah, me either. We're going to be finding glitter for days." She mused, checking on Epigram's progress. "How's your bookstore coming?"
Epigram looks up from what is unmistakably a gingermess and tells Dahlia, "Going great."
Dahlia grins, "We might not want to look at anymore candy for a week after this."
Epigram nods without looking up at Dahlia, having a ton of sugar and candy and sticky on her fingers.
Trevor waves to everyone and makes his way out. "Have a good night, everyone!"
After a few more minutes working on the ornament, Silas looks up from the table and smiles to Epigram and Dahlia, "There are those wolves again, might be heading back home myself in a little bit to get some rest before an early morning tomorrow, sorry for spacing out most of the time but it really does get you into a certain creative mood, distracted easily..."
Dahlia smiles to Silas and nods, "I'll be sure to be careful, and make sure everything is locked up tight before I head home." She promises.
Silas begins to stand himself up, carrying his ornament with himself as he walks over to Dahlia and leans in to give her a soft kiss on the lips, "Yeah, be careful, and I think it was snowing when I was driving over, so an added element to the whole mess..." He does wave to Epigram afterwards as well, "Goodnight, Epigram, have a good time!"
Dahlia returns the kiss to Silas with a smile. "You be careful too. See you at home." She murmured.
As the night progressed, the studio buzzed with creativity and personal stories. Brian entered, adding to the community feel, though his visit was brief, waiting for someone named Emma.
