Jacks White Oak Seminar The Prices Of Power 240509
In the unique setting of Lam's Arcology at White Oak, inside a biodome with a rich, self-sustaining ecosystem, a group of students and their instructor, Jack, conclude an unconventional seminar. The warm, humid interior filled with old trees and vibrant foliage forms the backdrop for this educational interaction, as the class winds down. Elanora expresses relief that the class is over, desperately searching for hand sanitizer, while Kiana deals with a moment of self-consciousness after participation. Meridith, showing a supportive gesture, offers encouragement and assistance to Kiana. Jack then assigns a reflective essay on personal experiences of suffering for others' benefit, sparking a mixture of reactions among the students. Vincent voices his discontent with the oddity of the class and the unwelcomed homework, adding to Kiana's playful defiance towards the assignment and Jack's authority.
As the class disperses, Jack's stern warning to Kiana about discipline should she continue her mischievous behavior signifies his disciplinary stance despite his lack of a "little black book" for record-keeping, reminiscent of Sister Abigail's methodology. Kiana, undeterred, continues her playful antics, testing Jack's patience. Esmeralda accepts the homework as a part of college life, highlighting the diverse student reactions to Jack's teaching methods. Vincent's complaint about the homework being boring is met with Jack's firm reminder of the school's expectations. As the session comes to a close, acknowledgments and good nights are exchanged, with Jack looking forward to some rest. The seminar at White Oak, characterized by its unusual setting and teaching methods, leaves an impression on both students and their instructor, blending themes of education, discipline, and personal reflection.

Within Lam's Arcology at White Oak
The humid, warm interior of the biodome is a self-contained ecosystem all of its own, bearing minimal resemblance even to the forested growth that bucks up against the edges of campus and the town beyond. A tall, geodesic dome of translucent plexiglass panels, its interior is largely dominated by old trees with vibrant, pale green leaves that ensure any sunlight that makes it through is filtered through a veil of organic green. Down here on the artificial forest's floor, there are no outside materials brought in to enforce paths or otherwise try and tailor the growth to one particular means or another; the ground is nothing more than soft, leaf-strewn dirt that occasionally plays home to fallen branches, new flowers or other plants trying to bloom, outcroppings of mushrooms or other fungal growths, and numerous other signs of life both new and past. The dense growth all around forces those within to take wandering, meandering paths unless they're some of the smaller, sometimes-winged creatures that occasionally flit or jump from branch to branch overhead. Occasional glimpses of an upper level can be seen where coverage is scarcer, metal walkways and platforms suspended high above the forest floor.
The duff-laden path that creeps through the forest winds its way around a dense thicket of older, sturdy trees with low branches here, creeping around from the southwest to the south.
It is about 65F(18C) degrees.
Elanora says "Oh right class is over. Thank god!"
Elanora looks around desperately as if she's trying to find some hand sanitizer
Kiana pouts just a little, now a touch self-conscious.
Meridith nods, and moves to Kiana to untie her. She gives the woman a soft smile. "Good work," she assures her, then nods to Jack. "Whenever you wish." Back to Kiana she explains, "I'm sure you have lovely feet."
Elanora seems to start hyperventilating slightly
Elanora squeaks out
"Homework," Jack tells Kiana, Meridith, Elanora, Esmeralda and Vincent. "200-300 words in an essay about some time that someone has hurt you or made you suffer for their own benefit, and what you think -they- gained from it," he says. "Due Sunday by midnight." He pauses. "Any questions?"
Meridith exhales some concerned. She nods to Jack. "No father," and moves to take her away shaking her head some at the surprise here.
Meridith says "Don't forget your boot, Kiana."
"They're just feet! But I'm sorry it upset you!" Kiana says, trying to hop on one leg and tug on her boots. "I didn't really want homework," she replies to Jack. "I had to stand there!"
Jack tells Kiana, "No one wants homework, Miss Cosovei."
Vincent shakes his head as he stands up and pats down his clothing from any dirt and plants. "That was one of the most odd classes, I have had in my life." The blonde teen comments to himself as he then lets out a loud sigh. "Homework.. really." Vincent says while running a hand though his hair.
Kiana sticks her tongue out at Jack.
"Miss Cosovei," Jack tells Kiana. "I don't have a little black book like Sister Abigail did, but that does not stop me from taking steps when needed."
Esmeralda shakes her head slightly and says, "No questions from me Father." as she moves to stand up from where she was sitting.
Kiana sticks out her tongue again at Jack, and tugs on her jacket.
"Stick out your tongue a third time, Miss Cosovei, and we'll be having a conversation in the chapel about discipline," Jack warns Kiana.
"I was just seeing if I could touch my nose!" Kiana claims, crinkling her nose at Jack with a hint of mischief.
Vincent groans as he looks over to Jack the blonde rolling his arms to scratch after laying on the ground. "Must we really do homework, seems boring." He complains.
Esmeralda says "It's just a part of college life really."

"Yes, Mr. Greyson, you must," Jack tells Vincent. "This is a school."
Kiana brushes her hair away from her face, and then crosses her arms low and about her. She exhales a faint breath.
"Thank you for the class." Esmeralda says to Jack, before she starts to head through the dome to the airlock.
"Now, though?" Jack says. "Now it's time for me to get a little sleep."
"Good night, all," Jack says.
