Junipers White Oak Lecture On Fisherian Runaway Evolutionary Biology 241001
In the heart of Lam's Arcology within the White Oak biodome, Juniper led a captivating lecture on Fisherian Runaway, drawing attention to intriguing aspects of evolutionary biology. The diverse attendance, nestled amidst the biodome's artificially maintained wilderness, lent the session an air of intimacy and earnest curiosity. Juniper, with her adept understanding, navigated the intricacies of the topic, eventually using the example of seahorse mating preferences to shed light on evolutionary strategies, intriguing the attendees. Despite the genuine engagement, the late hour began to weigh on the group, signaling the session's end.
As the lecture concluded, the atmosphere was marked by a mix of appreciation and the communal tiredness that comes with acquired knowledge at day's end. Participants stood, stretching and reflecting on the insights shared, exchanging pleasantries and expressions of thanks with Juniper. This moment captured the essence of the academic pursuit: a mutual exchange between teacher and student, driven by curiosity and the joy of discovery. The attendees, like Victoria, Elias, and Ash, voiced their gratitude, highlighting the impact of Juniper's teaching. The interactions hinted at the broader academic journey, of essays to be discussed and lessons to be digested, as the group slowly dispersed, carrying with them the seeds of new understanding planted in Juniper's lecture on the forest floor of White Oak.

Within Lam's Arcology at White Oak
The humid, warm interior of the biodome is a self-contained ecosystem all of its own, bearing minimal resemblance even to the forested growth that bucks up against the edges of campus and the town beyond. A tall, geodesic dome of translucent plexiglass panels, its interior is largely dominated by old trees with vibrant, pale green leaves that ensure any sunlight that makes it through is filtered through a veil of organic green. Down here on the artificial forest's floor, there are no outside materials brought in to enforce paths or otherwise try and tailor the growth to one particular means or another; the ground is nothing more than soft, leaf-strewn dirt that occasionally plays home to fallen branches, new flowers or other plants trying to bloom, outcroppings of mushrooms or other fungal growths, and numerous other signs of life both new and past. The dense growth all around forces those within to take wandering, meandering paths unless they're some of the smaller, sometimes-winged creatures that occasionally flit or jump from branch to branch overhead. Occasional glimpses of an upper level can be seen where coverage is scarcer, metal walkways and platforms suspended high above the forest floor.
The clumsy, artificial bulk of the biodome's airlock can be seen to the south along the curvature of the inner wall, with duff-laden paths wide enough to allow reasonably easy passage spreading out in the other cardinal directions.
It is about 60F(15C) degrees.
Syl looks back to Juniper as she muses.
Juniper nods to Ash in confirmation. "Seahorse males have a propensity to pick larger females yes. It means stronger offspring and likely also a chance for more eggs too."
Ash tilts their head at Baxter in curiosity, before getting distracted by Juniper. They nod slowly, acknowledging it with an "Mmmm" of appreciation. Though, even as enthusiastic as they are, their attention seems to be lagging.
"It's late," Juniper concedes, waving her hands to those in the chairs. "I thank you all for coming out to this open lecture. I hope we learned something today or at least had fun talking about it." She glances over to Victoria with a tiny smirk. "Or... checked off a credit of some sort on your course list, in any case."
"You don't know the fun," Victoria grins to Juniper. "Thanks for the lesson." Her grin extends to Elias and Ash, and then she's out the door with a wave.
Syl stands and stretches a bit.
As Juniper dismisses the class, Elias pushes himself up out of his chair. He glances back to the woman that just left and shrugs. He offers over to Juniper, "A well taught class. I can see why your student love you, June."
Brian offers Juniper another smile. "Thanks again. Hopefully we can talk soon about my essay. Have a good evening!" He waves as he heads for the door.
Ash yawns, rubbing their face. "I shouldn't be so tired. Thanks for the lesson, June! It's always fun - and Elias is right."
Juniper steps off the podium to join Elias and smile her appreciation at the dark-haired man. "I'm very happy with the engagement I get. Couldn't do what I do without their keen minds putting in the work."
Ash glances between Syl and Joel before asking Syl, "Mmm, you have anything you're up to after this?"
