Kahs Bonfire Bbq 250420

During a gathering at The Moonguard Inn, an eclectic assemblage of characters engages in a mix of mundane and mystical conversation, revealing the complex tapestry of their lives and connections. Cadence and Siofradiscuss their encounters and experiences, touching on past meetings and current concerns, including Cadence's plans for an art project and her temporary stewardship of a friend's residence with an enticing jacuzzi. Kah, the host, offers hospitality and hints at a contest with valuable prizes, spurring interest among the attendees. Amidst the discussions, topics range from personal hobbies and the concept of art to the deeper meanings of life and death. The atmosphere is rich with the aroma of roast dinosaur, prepared by Kah, adding a primal touch to the sophisticated banter.

As the night unfolds, the characters delve into philosophical musings, with Siofra sharing insights on art from her godfather, indicating art's inseparability from life itself. Kah proposes a potential contest that could encompass both martial prowess and artistic expression, igniting curiosity and potential participation from the group. The notion of art's death is debated, touching upon forgetting, commonality, and the unique perspectives each individual brings to their understanding of art and its impact. The gathering winds down with Kah expressing his appreciation for the company and conversation, leaving the attendees to reflect on the evening's discussions and the interconnectedness of their lives and experiences. Through their interactions, the characters explore the multifaceted nature of existence, the transformative power of art, and the endless cycle of conception, birth, and death.

At the main barroom of The Moonguard Inn
Panelled walls of locally-sourced, dark-grained oak line the entire room and
its bordering areas, trimmed with ebony slats at the ceiling's edge upon which
shallow, miniscule engravings depict many of the Wilds dangerous wildlife. The
room is lit solely by the flickers of many candles that stand in sconces along
the walls or are set in clusters upon the numerous tables. Along the northern
wall, the main bar extends along the full length of the room, set up with many
wooden stools with leather or fur as padding. Throughout this room, all tables
are provided with chairs and benches for guests to rest on while conversing or
enjoying a strong drink, while in the bordering lounges the tables are low and
arranged with floor cushions and furs.

It is about 60F(15C) degrees.

Cadence nods flicking a finger along the contour of her jawline. "Siofra's seen it." She doesn't stray too far from the panda. "I was camping at the Antlers. That's where I kept running into Graves. Kept hyping up the jacuzzi upstairs." She doesn't want to talk about that, and more on the art. "I'll bring all the tools."

A small grunt comes from Kah, he waves his glass dismissively toward someone' thanks. "Don't think anything of it. I didn't do anything except remind you that your two parts are not separate from one another. It is not so far a step from there, yes?" His tone is light, amicable as he makes a gesture. "If you need food or drink, just ask and I will provide! There is some roast dinosaur that I had prepared for easy eating." Beyond that he seems happy to sit back in his char, at that table in the center of the room.

A small grunt comes from Kah, he waves his glass dismissively toward Siofra(Humanda)'s thanks. "Don't think anything of it. I didn't do anything except remind you that your two parts are not separate from one another. It is not so far a step from there, yes?" His tone is light, amicable as he makes a gesture. "There's a jacuzzi at the hotel?" Trevor asks, chiming in now.

Seamus nods over to Cadence, "I got a couple of things this evening with Domino but 9575 gets me. So maybe sometime this week." He grins over to her then looks back to Siofra(Humanda), "The Lilah thing then Skein thing and I guess I can go to the other thing."

glances between Trevor and Cadence, following the exchange of jacuzzi words. Then, feeling a palm in her shorts and pulling out a round fruit, Siofra(Humanda) calls over to Kah, "Oh. I t'ink a raptor killed yer tree. I were with Lanaeis last night and a raptor came and attacked that tree up by the river."

The mention of a name gives a faint grunt, but then he's shifting his attention toward Trevor. "The Families have some kind of ... penthouse on the top floor. I have walked about it, but I did not see a ... jakoozi" Kah says, unfamiliar with the name or word. "I still prefer our pool. The bath here is not so terrible I suppose either. "

Siofra(Humanda) purses her lips, looking at the timing of operations. "I might have t'let ye' go on with that Lilah bit. I've got to arrive at me operations, after all."

Cadence produces her old phone from under her skirt, through a secret compartment. A classic silver Xperia brick, good for throwing at others, not so much communication these days. "Anyway. Declan was telling me he's heading out of town for a business trip. Said he'd give me the keys again if I watched the place. So. Why not?" she confides to someone, nodding at Trevor. "Nice jacuzzi. It bubbles."

Cadence says "I won't need to stay with the psychopath. Yeah."
"Oh," Trevor nods at Kah, "I never even asked Lilah about that," Trevor admits with a little grunt, shaking his head in disappointment. "And, that sounds nice. A bubbling jacuzzi."

Kah gives a faint smirk, "Luckily the magic of this place is strong. The Kalen tree will recover. It always does." The large bronzed man gives a mysterious smile. "Who are your friends?" Kah asks of Siofra(Humanda) then, seemingly not familiar with the others that have accomapnied the hybrid shifter. For the place itself, there hardly seems to be a blink from those local patrons at the sight of Siofra(Humanda), or the others. Some of the customers here might be considered more monstrous than man in some ways. Half-breeds, and the more intelligent cousins of beast-men and their ilk. Truly a place out of Fantasy, or some twisted ancient past.

Seamus nods to Siofra(Humanda), "Fair play fair play." He runs his tongue across his teeth and then nods, "Alright I think she is calling. I'll get back with you later alright." He flashes Cadence a grin, "I got you."

Siofra(Humanda) situating herself loosely in the middle of the two, like a queen bee- but forcing her elbows between them from a lack of vertical high ground, she gestures to her left, "Shaaay-mus." Then, with a mirrored macarena hand to the right, "Nancy."

Siofra(Humanda) says "One's tent, t'other's a coworker."
Cadence coughs a little bit more into one of the long sleeves draped over her arms, waving listlessly at Trevor and Trevor when introductions are made on her behalf. "Johnny boy," she calls to Seamus, whining and pointing at a cigarette she pinches between her lips. "Light."

"Oh right," Trevor says. "I'm Trevor."

Seamus flips out his lighter and lights Cadence's next cigarette before departing.

While Kah himself doesn't seem inclined, the area itself is full of enough smoke or haze or other things from lamps, torches and the smoking that comes from beyond the beads and curtains to the east; there doesn't seem ot be any hesitation from others to smoke in the presence of the large Were. He himself again seems to be ambivilent to it as he nods his head in the departing man, and Cadence's direction. "Blessings on you, then, and welcome."

Siofra(Humanda) nudges at Cadence with a furry, pillowy elbow and points at the raptor. "Have ye' had raptor b'fore? It's grand- I mean, it's grand when ye've not got panda-taste buds. Then it's manky."

Cadence waves the guy off after he does her a solid, taking a long, wistful drag from the newly lit cigarette. Not long after, a plume of smoke billows from her nostrils like an indulgent Eastern dragon. "That's the stuff, alright," she enthuses, pleased for the time being. "Nice to meet you both. Nancy Streubenhauff. My father immigrated from the Reichtland and that's where he found my mama. I'm told it was very romantic," she divulges, but spares them more of her bullshit when a series of coughs comes knocking on her shoulder, having to answer Siofra(Humanda) with a shake of her head.

Seamus says "Domino. Take me back to Haven. Chop Chop."
Siofra(Humanda) says "Alllright. "
Trevor snorts at that, "Streubenhauff," Trevor repeats - butchering it slightly. "That's an interesting name."

Kah grins, "You need a compass?" Kah offers before he just chuckles as the panda gets up. He chuckles at Cadence also before he tilts his head. "I am Kah Nhet, offficially to meet you. I come many places, but the sands of Egypt are my true home." That out of the way, he turns his attention now toward the roasted raptor that's been set out for folks to enjoy.

"Damn," Trevor grunts. "You all come from like cool ass places. Germany, Egypt." Trevor snorts a little bit. "I'm just fucking Canadian."

Siofra returns in short order, or well- The Circus act does- bloodred glowing spines taut in a ribbon at her vertebrae. "Is Germany cool"

Cadence presses her back against the wall by the doorway leading out, sinking down to her rear. Streubenhauff was what she surmised was the most German sounding name ever, and decided on that. But no one else needs to know that. She plucks her phone and sets it over the throne of her knees, picking through a few apps her phone struggles to run. "Uh-huh. I never asked what it meant. Don't think it's that important now," the compulsive liar wagers. "I was wondering who the asshole that shot me earlier in the Nightmare." She holds it up for Siofra when she walks up, a low, gentle giggle rising from her chest, holding a hand to cover the grin. "Someone named William. If only Elam netted him..."

Siofra says "I suppose I've got a cousin seed there."
"Mm" Kah says again, something causing his lips to press more thinly, pausing from taking a bite of that roasted meat.

Siofra bends over with a slight serpentine twist to eye closer with one large black eye, then straightens once the information has been digested. "That's William alright. Dread shame about that patrol- but don't hold a grudge against him. Torture him because ye' want t'make art out of it." She nods to her own wisdom, adding, "I've got a body and head what I've still got t'find the inspiration to display properly. Right now, t'head's in timeout."

Siofra sets a finger to her ear.

Siofra says "Mayhap? Rank and file won't talk t'me no more. Deamhan blood. I'll try."
"Germany's cool," Trevor informs Siofra with a nod - then just lifts his shoulders in a shrug.

After taking some time to eat a little bit, Kah lifts his head as he eyes someone a moment his attention returnign more to the people gathered here at the Inn. "In my time, they would mount them atop the walls, to be seen from afar." Then his teeth display in a vicious grin, "On a similar note, I have been thinking of putting on a bit of a contest. Would any of you find this interesting? For a prize of course."

stubs the rest of her cigarette into the floor, scattering the ashes that come with a flap of her arm. "I was just shopping so I could do better for those things," Cadence shares with no one in particular, tilting her head to one side, offering a complaint for good measure. "Timing was just shit. Anything bad happen if you lose one of those?" She lifts her head, staring into the bar, mite bit too distracted to follow with the conversation. "Maaaaaaybe?"

"Depends on the contest," Trevor tells Kah with a little bit of a curious tone - he shifts, sitting forward now.

Siofra was about to say 'yes and thank you,' but her excitement dies dull and professional as she nods to Trevor's statement. "R-right. Depends."

"I do not know. I have a couple of valueable things to offer in the way of prize .. I suppose more than one?" Kah muses, as his eyes cut between Cadence, Trevor, and Siofra. "In times past, we did not have the comforts of today, so we celebrated amongsts ourselves. Competed in strength, dance, grace, bravery (or foolishness) .. I do not know."

Siofra shakes her head to Cadence, taking her bum to a table and 'explaining,' "Nope. Can't be pulled neither."

"Hello," Autumn greets as she enters, her fur coat resting over one shoulder. "Thought Wilds was going to be cold. Hold on."

"She's crazy," Cadence pipes up, rubbing at her cheek. "It's real nippy here."

Siofra pulls up her phone sideways to view a short blip of a video.

Trevor shrugs. "It's not all that cold, but I guess I'm used to it?"

"I have a gemstone worth much. Perhaps I can offer this for some competition in arts or sciences. For something more martial, I have arranged for our blacksmith to craft something truly masterwork for the winner." Kah continues to consider it, but he tilts his head. "Truly. I do not find this so cold .. though many of us do like the warmer weather. Or did .. the Grove is always warm. I might have gathered people there, but I figured this would feel more approachable for any who are not immediately a part of our family, etcetera. "

"Right but," Trevor tells Kah. "But what IS the competition, you haven't told us that yet."

Siofra pulls out a neat pocket fruit recently found in a tree corpse. Opening up her cheek with too wide lips to chew, she mumbles with a full mouth, "Sure. What're we doin."

Cadence clambers back up from the floor, pressing her palm into her back, stretching back to work out the kinks. The grimace she makes suggests it didn't work out as she planned. "Nippy," she stresses, slinking over to someone. "I'm to apparently make an apology to red eyes," she shares, waving her phone around. She might just want to throw it, but it must be stuck to her fingers.

Siofra swallows the blue fruit early to comment with a furrow, "So says President Phisher?"

"I have not really decided!" Kah admits, with a short bark of laughter. "For the custom armor I imagine a contest of battle or sparring. For the other ... " Kah gestures toward Cadence, "I have met several people with talent for expression with music, and art. Perhaps a display, and let someone judge what is best. I am only deciding if it is worth it to do something."

Trevor grunts at something. "I think," he mentions to Kah. "I'm probably not going very far in a contest of sparring."

Cadence nods slightly, making a talking motion with one hand, fingers flapping. "Not too concerned. Blah blah blah. I still stand he just needs to find a nice girlfriend." She hugs herself, trying to stave off the shiver that comes through her spine. "Red eyes. He stares like he wants me to piss myself. I-" Art gets mentioned, and she latches to that instead. "Maybe you'll be of help. I can't find the inspiration anymore..."

Kah glances at Trevor, "I do not think I would allow ... some of us to participate in the combat, of course" he suggests, and he gives a mild shrug. "I should have just crushed that snake last night" he mutters to himself, or into his glass.

Kah shrugs.

"He wants t'eat ye' but he can't." Siofra comments in feet swinging apathy. Though, those feet do swing faster as she takes another bite of blue fruit. A white eye closes with a final flicker, having absorbed enough light to warrant pain, she juggles the conversation in both ears by staring forward with her one good eye.

Trevor nods at Kah. "I'd compete," Trevor says with a shrug. "I just have an idea of my abilities in.. certain circumstances." Trevor lifts a hand, letting his empty mug sit atop the table.

"I might compete." Siofra chirps in, holding blue in her cheek, "depends. I might be taken out of town in me sleep soon. We'll see."

"He needs a girlfriend," Cadence stresses to Siofra after the whispered exchange, fingers wrapping around her phone, knuckles growing white through tension. "Anyway. Art project? If you're bored. 710-9862," she calls out over to the bar, followed by a bit of coughing. Too many cigarettes today. "I'm gonna head back now. Nice to meet you all." She tugs at Siofra's arm. "I might need you to lead me back where the camp is."

Siofra's leg kick forward a final stretch before she drags her bum off the table. "Alright. I'll be back soon, bais."

"She mentioned some project I think though ... I imagine her inspiration comes from her blood" Kah murmurs toward Trevor. "Though if I put on something like this, I think that will be the best choice for a secondary kind of contest. A .. art presentation? I do not know what to call it, I guess. " He shrugs his shoulders but he does grin, "I've found that offering very expensive things is usually a good way to get people interested though." He nods at Siofra when they return.

"That Autumn never found her way back." Siofra comments idly as she pops back in, opening and closing the door with five foot long spines that afford her no stop of momentum.

Trevor nods at Siofra, "She did not, no," he says with a shrug - attention focused back on Kah to respond. "I'm not very artity," That's not a word, of course. "Arty?" The man mulls it over, just throwing out new words. "Anyway, regardless, I'm not particularly creative."

Trevor says "Well no, that's not true. I'm plenty creative. Just in a different way."
Siofra says "G'night. "
Siofra sets her palms down on the table, trying to work up the rhythm of energy, but, a salarywoman's hunch takes her. With a fiddle in her shorts pocket, she sticks a cigarette between the chewing, biting appendages that sit at the end of her ribbons. "Ye' just need a hobby, Trevor me bai."

"I have a hobby," Trevor tells Siofra. "I work and I go to the gym."

"It does not seem so, no" Kah says with a mild dip of his head. He doesn't seem too concerned about it one way or the other. "I appreciate you bringing some people buy, though. It does not go unseen" he chuckles and he nods at Trevor as well. "Me either" he admits. "Unless you count battle-frenzy? Perhaps we do" Kah says, smirking at Siofra before leaning back into his chair again.

"Ye sculpt yer body then." Siofra offers with a gesture of an unlit cigarette.

Trevor concedes that point to Siofra. "Alright, you got me there," Trevor tells her. "But, I'm not going to use my sculpted body as an art project."

"Well. Art comes in t'ree forms." Siofra makes an 'okay' symbol from pinky to middle finger, sucking a breath through her teeth and seating heavy on a shoulder and palm, resting her head in the hitch of a shoulder that follows. "Conception, birth, and death. If ye' properly conceive the act and dinnae derive purely from impulse, greater is the art."

Siofra says "In some circles, merely being birthed is enough. But without thought, what is it really? Randomness. Dryshite."
Trevor listens to Siofra give him a lecture on art, it's rapt. Trevor is probably just a really good listener - wanting to learn, to hear people's thoughts and ideas. "Right," he says. "What do you consider the death of an artwork, like the Mona Lisa, for example?"

Kah laughs at that, too. "Aye, that might be a bit of a stretch. Certainly I couldn't compete there, either. Mm. I think I will look into this" he decides with a nod for himself moreso than to the others. Then he's quieting down enough to turn and listen to Siofra as she offers some perception on the idea of art as they speak, looking thoughtful.

"The commonplace thing it has become" Kah says to Trevor.

Siofra blows a lip trill. If she's a budding art student, that's the lesson she's on. "Forgotten' is t'most popular answer, but aye-there with commonality. I'd say there's too many answers- t'Fae right now is all crashing out of Artists because they think art is dead. They've seen so much, know how to do precious little different."

Trevor nods at Siofra. "Is that what you consider to be the death of art though?" The man asks, rapping his knuckles atop the table as he converses. "You think being forgotten is the death of art?"

"We are always most covetous of the things that are denied to us" Kah offers somewhat sagely perhaps, as he rolls his neck to the series of a soft, but audible cracks and pops as he turns his glass to drain it back as he stands up slowly. "Mm .. I imagine that boredom and the lack of .. individuality seems to haunt them still. But .. Death is not a choice they get to choose" he grunts, seeming almost mildly uncomfortable as he considers that, and also as he speaks about those most ancient and old Fae that were borne from those same early Sorcerors from his youth.

Siofra's white and black brow try to connect through the wrinkling river of flesh between them, but cannot. She spends perhaps twenty seconds trying to light the cigarette with her mind, or one-eye contact, but she is no pyromancer. A held breath falters, and with it, her kicking legs shrug her knees together. "I dunno yet. I can't answer that question well. I'm too young. But. That theory was proposed by me Godfather, Caelivorix. His art is held in seeds- generations of children whom, I suppose, ye' can g'wan and see fer yerself if ye've got a Circus ticket. Fer me-" Her head bobble is small, but it ruffles her hair. "I just... Well, Kah here helped me accept a'part of me blood always tortured me. I see a lot of death now. I like a lot of death, now. Life is Art, according to Caelivorix- at its core, Art is seen in life. So like-"

Siofra's rambles ceases to come to its own conclusion. What she settles on, is simply, "Look into me eyes when I'm dead from this town, and ask me what my life meant."

Siofra says "Surely, ye' will see the results o'my conception and birth. I dunno if that will be my death. I'm just.. Too young."
Pausing, Kah just gives Siofra a nod at those words before he gestures toward the still-warm raptor carcass. "Enjoy yourselves. I will take my leave, but I have enjoyed the company so thank you both." Bowing his head, he moves to set himself toward the south now with a casual pace.

Siofra gives a flutter of two spines, each roaming a concave space before they loop and bow on their own terms.
