Ariels Odd Encounter Sr Isaiah 240807

Ariel finds himself in an odd dilemma, transformed into a chipmunk amidst a mysterious adventure on Rose Lane. As he plans his next move atop a Shelby Mustang, determining to reach the Main Office which he suspects houses the origin of his transformative predicament, Ariel encounters a talking cat. The Persian feline reveals that others have also been transformed and that together, they've devised a plan to return to their normal forms. The voice over the speakers further propels this urgency, offering a cryptic clue to breaking the curse – find and destroy a peculiar crystal to end their nightmare. Ariel, driven by a will to help and equipped with a strategy that leverages the unique abilities of each transformed animal, sets off with the cat, a rat, and a bat to face the unknown.

The quest culminates in a tension-filled moment inside an office where the promised crystal resides. The atmosphere is thick with danger as a strange man, revealed to be the antagonist, nearly thwarts their plan. In a climactic act, the rat crushes the crystal in its mouth, triggering an explosion that knocks Ariel unconscious. He awakens outside, under the care of a woman warning him about hallucinogenic flowers, implying his entire ordeal was a vivid hallucination. However, as Ariel recuperates, the woman's familiar, catlike features suggest a more mystical undertone to his adventure, leaving him to ponder the reality of his extraordinary encounter. The story concludes ambiguously, blurring the lines between hallucination and a magical reality Ariel briefly traversed.

[Tue Aug 6 2024]

On Rose Lane
Cracked and pothole-ridden asphalt roads make up this part of town,
bordered on either side by poorly maintained cracked sidewalks. The
aluminum streetlights are painted a deep, chipped green and appear regularly
along the side, illuminating the street in spots of warm electric light when
it's dark. Where the street is widest small median islands appear with old
twisted trees planted in them. The buildings that line the street seem old
and poorly taken care of.

It is afternoon, about 76F(24C) degrees, and the sky is covered by dark grey stormclouds. It's raining.

Calm, that's good; Ariel needs to be calm- he needs to think. Scaling up that massive vehicle reveals it to be a Shelby Mustang, and standing upon the sunroof, this little creature starts looking around at its surroundings. Everything is giant, but he might recall passing by a Main Office when he first entered the park. If there's any place to start looking, it's there- surely this is where the voice, the music, the crackling sound of the intercoms originates. It will be a daunting and dangerous journey, but not impossible. Around the pool, get past the dressing area, across the mist-covered road, and into the office where the manager should be. Strange, but, it's starting to feel safe in the mist- comfortable. The fresh air, the flowers, the sounds of the birds chirping in the trees, the cat that just lept onto the car beside Ariel.

Oh, shit. A cat.

Ariel was starting to feel calm, now that he knew the objective in front of himself, get to the bottom of this lucid dream he's having, if this is a dream to begin with. He will do the best he can! He's nobody special, but his willpower to help others will carry him far!

Oh, shit. A cat.

"Hey there kitty kitty..." Ariel attempts to reason with the cat. He was a rural boy, and grew up around animals, took care of them... Showed them love and empathy, as a result of this - the young boy-chipmunk had a deeper understanding of how animals think and act. The issue would be to do so while in the form of a small rodent.

Even so, maybe even a cat will overlook their deep-seeded hatred and war with rodents that dates back to antediluvian ages.

"... Don't call me 'Kitty'," says the cat to the chipmunk with its ears pinning back against its skull for a moment, the fluffy, pug-faced Persian feline standing up and flicking the tip of its tail from side to side in irritation. It takes a few soft, padded steps forward as it gazes upon Ariel with narowed eyes. "Are you coming or not? Some of us have gotten together and devised a plan to get back to normal. You got any ideas?" someone
the fussy feline lifts a front paw off of the sun window, bringign it to their lips and lapping away at it boredly, it's a very cat-like thing to do, hinting that the clock is ticking down. In the background, the voice continues to speak. "I'm a fair man, and it simply wouldn't be a good game if I didn't give you all a chance to win. Find me, break my crystal, and you'll all be back to your normal, boring selves in no time."

Ariel blinks. "Wait, you all been turned into animals? Why am I a chipmunk- this is not fair!" The chipmunk complains, then, slowly calms down, letting out a sigh. "I got a plan, he's probably hiding out in the office from where he uses the speakers, maybe that's where the crystal is as well." He'd explain.

"I'll need to see what others have been turned into, but the plan I have is that... We load up those the smallest, like me, onto larger animals and run to the office. Once we get to it, we should team up together and destroy the crystal...- Use the avians for scouting and reveal shortcuts if we have any would also do us well."

...He really wasn't anybody special, but he had the heart of gold, and a will to see that everyone is saved- including himself!

"So yeah, that's what I had in mind, we could probably make use of each individual animal's abilities to get through whatever obstacles we'll have on our way." He adds, looking up at the cat and waiting for a response-...

His gaze does avert to a... Convenient berry bush, he feels the need to go and forage it- but... He's able to resist it, for now. "...I'm not sure if I'm dreaming or not, but the threat of my conscience fading feels very real, so we need to act fast."

"It'll get sorted," says the cat confidently as it browls a circle around Ariel, pausing only momentarily as a predatory look comes across its eyes. A soft 'mrow' is heard before it jumps down from the top of the car and onto the wet pavement, shaking out its paws a bit in disgust. "Alright, little friend- let's go. We don't have much to work with- most of those turned have already lost their minds and become wild- but we've got two others who can join us: a rat and a bat. Tasty snacks," it claims, waiting for the chipmunk to either hop down beside it, or hop onto its back.

Ariel nods. "I hope so..." The chipmunk says, hopping onto the cat's back, he STILL wasn't a knight, but now he had someone that could give him a ride. "Hmm... Rat and a bat." He ponders. "Me and the rat could hop on your back and ride off while the bat scouts the area, you probably see well in the night, and the bat could give directions, we're practically set, I think.. I'm um, not a local so I might struggle with directions still, I do remember where the Office is- or should be." With that, he is ready to set off on the misadventure of stopping whatever is the cause of this strange case, his very first direct encounter with the supernatural!

"... I feel like you just want to ride a cat," says The Cat in question, though he objects only to a rat climbing on his back. That much, he doesn't allow, and the quartet of unfortunate animals make their way through the big wide world that they've found themselves in. It's an easy enough journey, though precarious by the pool's edge where the ground is slick and smooth. The team nearly takes a plunge into the unruly waters, but the Cat, the Rat, and the Bat barely manage to maintain their footing- and flying.

The Bat listens well enough, scouting from overhead and by the windows, whilst the Rat sneaks to the interior itself. Keys. Keys. It looks for keys- and it finds them, and after a report on the aggressor's location is made, quietly the animals unlock and open the door. It's dark inside of the office, and Ariel doesn't have very good night vision. What isn't hard to spot, however, is the single glowing green crystal that rests on the manager's desk- the manager isn't where he's supposed to be. Did he leave? Did he realize what was happening?

Ariel shakes his head. "No, I would never!" The chipmunk shakes their small head. As the journey began... The team would walk, despite the urgency in their actions, it took a LOT of time just to get to the location they needed, they were all small-sized animals after all!

Still, though, as they get to the location, and the Rat opens the door. Ariel lets out a squeek. "Guys, I found the crystal! Let's go break it." The chipmunk said, taking a good look around, proceeding to the unholy artifact of unnatural power.

Like a moth to a flame.

A thrum of power emanates from that glowing green crystal that's set upon the desk, becking but also warding away. It's strange- unusually bright, neon green, and almost seeming to vibrate with a life of its own. There's a shuffling from the next room over- the flush of a toilet. They're in the bathroom; they'll be back soon. It's now or never to take hold of their lives and free themselves from whatever ungodly curse or hex this is. The cat jumps up with Ariel on its back, landing right beside the stone. "You do the honors, kid. Let's get to it. End this."

Ariel nods. "I'll end this nightmare... Maybe then, I'll wake up from it, all of us will... Here... we... Go!" The chipmunk jumps from the cat's back, practically slamming it's body against the crystal in order to try and tip it over, break it. He wasn't sure if what he was doing is lucid dreaming, a horrifyingly real nightmare, mix of both- or something else, neither he'd know what happens next, will he wake up? Time would tell, it seems...

Time almost seems to move in slow motion as Ariel leaps onto the crystal, both chipmunk and gemstone losing their root and toppling down, down, down to the vast expanse between the floor and the top of the table. "Shit," comes from the threshold between office and bathroom, a tall figure glaring down at the animals as it, too, lunges forward with fingers that are far too long and far too few, attempting to snag the crystal out of midair before it shatters. Almost- almost- almost. The stone bounces off of one fingertip, then another, the fall broken just enough that it lands on the floor and skids to a stop, unharmed, right in front of Rat.

The rodent looks down at the glowing gem as the man with black bleeding from his empty eye sockets and sharp-toothed mouth scrambles across the floor, attempting to seize it. There's a single gulp of hesitation, and then Rat is stuffing the rock into its mouth and clamping down as hard as it can with its teeth. The crystal cracks, then chips, and then spiderwebs splinter out from the imperfection as the Strange Man screams out: "Noooo!!"

All of the air in the room feels like it's being sucked into the crystal like a vacuum, threatening to swallow everything around before a sudden burst of energy explodes out from it, sending everyone flying backwards and slamming into various pieces of furniture, walls, doors, and Ariel is flung through a window from the sheer pressure, his vision fading to black.

Ariel tries his best to claw at the crystal- only to be unable to reach it fully and falling down, the crystal almost shattered. "Don't let him take the crystal!" The chipmunk screams out, and the Rat seems to follow through with it, the burst of energy however sends the man flying...-

Ariel is knocked out cold almost immedietly, he is- for the most part, just an average man, and the force is more than enough to knock the wind out of him - as well as his consciousness... Perhaps, it really is all a dream? He doesn't know, perhaps he'll find out, if he wakes up...

if...

Ariel floats in and out of consciousness as he stirs, staring up at the dreary morning- no- afternoon sky. It will be evening soon, and as his vision clears he sees a woman standing over him with gardening gloves and a straw hat. There's a worried expression on her face as she says, "Oh, thank goodness you're awake! I tried to warn you from the speakers not to get too close to those flowers," she explains, fretting as she offers the man a hand up. "When you breathe in their pollen, it can cause you to hallucinate! But you'd already dropped before I could get the warning out. I'm so sorry," she explains, not looking proud of herself. Nearby, propped up under the overgrown bush is a faded, mostly-covered sign:

DANGER!!

Hallucenaginic flowers. Approach at your own risk when blooming.

Ariel scratches the back of his head, grumbling. "Uuugh... My head." He grumbles, looking at the woman with a tired expression. "Why would you grow flowers that inflict others with hallucinations in public area, that doesn't sound very safe... or... legal for that matter." He complains quietly, standing up and looking around- to see if everything truly returned to the way it was.

"Well, they're just so gosh darn pretty," the woman replies sadly, though there is some measure of shame on her face. "Regardless, I'm glad you're alright- that was a real tumble you took. I'm going to get back to my gardening now," she explains, pulling a strange gas mask looking device over her face and donning a pair of shears. She starts to trim up her flower bushes as Ariel looks around, regaining his bearings.

Everything... Looks... Right. Like it's supposed to be this way. It's the way it was before Ariel lost consciousness, at least. There's a small amount of time until the sun starts to set, and Ariel has the rest of his day to himself; to spend it however he'd like.

There's just one problem, though.

That woman's eyes and catlike features were awfully familiar...
