Autumns Odd Encounter Sr Deacon 240120
Autumn, seeking a moment of peace, found herself inexplicably drawn away from the warmth of the Petite Cuisine and into the cold night, her feet guiding her southward through the streets of Haven. After dispensing with her depleted hot chocolate, what began as casual, mindless wandering soon escalated to a high-alert situation. Just as the eerie sense of being led grew stronger, Autumn spotted movements in an old, dilapidated houseāan ominous destination that all but invited her inside.
Inside, four figures gathered; three engaged in a fervent discussion while the fourth, a woman, was ominously out of sight. As Autumn observed the nocturnal meeting through a window, the situation within abruptly detonated into chaos, spurring her to enter and interrupt the violence. Her entrance and subsequent threat of calling for backup only intensified the pandemonium, as a brawl ensued between humans and a vampire. The fight was untamed until Autumn summoned her familiar, Ifrit, to intervene. However, the vampire swiftly evaded the fiery salamander and escaped, leaving Autumn with two injured humans and the lifeless body of a woman whose fate she was too late to alter. Ensuring the wounded received attention, Autumn withdrew from the scene as sirens echoed in the distance, a grim reminder that not every encounter can end in triumph.

At the entrance to Petite Cuisine
A simple path cuts between fragrant seasonally planted flower beds and ends at a short flight of three stairs and a charming white-clad farmhouse with seaside blue shutters at each side of lead glass windows. The stairs have a ramp to the side for handicap access. Great care has gone into this space, providing views of the colourful flower gardens as well as a place to sit and talk on the front porch's rocking chairs.
It is night, about -1F(-18C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky. There is a waxing gibbous moon.
(Your target must infiltrate a secret meeting of a powerful vampire coven. They need to gather information about the coven's plans without being detected or fight their way out if they are discovered.)
Autumn is resting on one of the rocking chairs outside of the restaurant with her cloak used for warmth. Taking a sip of her hot chocolate, she turns to look at her phone and check on things with the tapping of her thumb.
Ah, the simple nights of Haven that come and go as with the seasons. Autumn finds herself in one of the rocking chairs at the Petite Cuisine and things are as they should be. But it's no great mystery why these small moments of calm always seem to be followed by those dark and strange moments that often come in the midst of peace. Without really wondering why, the woman will end up finding herself heading out of the store, getting up from that rocking chair. Her feet have the need to walk and without realizing it she's already on her way! Off of the porch and into that colder night air, armored against the chill with cloak and hot chocolate. But which way do her feet carry her? North .. or South?
Looking down at her mug, Autumn finds that it's now empty and frowns until she notices that she is walking down south instead of resting. "What the...?" She looks around, the mug still in her hand as she glances at her bike that is left parked near the entrance.
Looking back, Autumn can see that she's not gotten that far really. But then there's something that seems to catch her attention. It's just a flicker at the corner of her eye but whatever it is immediately puts her innate kind of danger-sense instinct on high alert! Heart starting to pound, it will take a little bit of looking around before they can see that there's nothing around them in sight. But another kind of sixth-sense says to let her feet take them where they may. Maybe it's a sense of risk or a sense of being cooped up but there's that whispered thought in the back of Autumn's mind that it might be worth it to let her feet follow whatever seems to be pulling her along. If she fights it, the woman will be able to remain in place and put more critical thinking toward whatever seems to be happening. If she doesn't her feet will soon enough be carrying her further along into the town Southward. To where though, may remain a mystery.
"Oh damn," Autumn starts to worry, looking down at her feet before she looks at where they are taking her. "They better not lead me to sea," she then mutters as she puts her phone away. She then sighs as she steps past some snow on her way.
As the night grows longer, Autumn lets herself be taken by the lure that pulls at her feet and it continues to lead her further and further south but thankfully for her not toward the sea that soon becomes clear. The streets and sidewalks under her feet turn into dirt roads instead. Ahead of her lies what appears to be an old abandoned fraternatity house or something similar from the older sections of campus that no longer belong to the main areas of White Oak. It appears they've made their way from the poorer end of town and moved their way up! Her feet seem satisfied now, no longer talking her someplace of their own accord - perhaps the house up ahead ramshackle and dilapidated as it is, is her destination.
Closer to the house as Autumn approaches, she may be able to discern vague movement among the shadows within the house through windows that aren't boarded up. Hard to say much more then that something in there is moving around in some fashion. But who knows? It could just be an old curtain moving from the breezer.
Her feet arriving at their destination, Autumn examines the house before she slowly walks closer to it. She doesn't make a sound when she sees movement in the shadows and moves her head to try to get a better look inside the ramshackle house.
Walking closer to the house, it's not so hard for Autumn to stay quiet, but she leaves a trail of prints in the slowy falling snow as she approaches. Closer to one of those windows that isn't completely boarded up she can peer a little more easily into the structure and within ... she'll find a small collection of shadowy figures! A small group, three of them are gathered around a small table there in the abandoned house. They appear to be talking about something, somewhat animated as they gesture back and forth or nod their heads and so on. Autumn can't hear what's going on from outside, but there's -something- going on that's for sure. It's hard to spot, but she'll see the shadow of a fourth figure further in down a hallway just in her sight, but there's no telling who or what it is.
Autumn pauses and lowers herself a bit, spotting the trail she left behind. She purses her lips as she looks back at the window to observe. Using her right hand, she slowly pulls out her black folding knife while she readies her other hand in which she dons her panja bracelet.
Readying her weapons, Autumn continues to observe through the window, but not much else can be determined from out here. A glimpse of something else does catch her eye though. A lucky shaft of moonlight comes filtering through the clouds above and through the window. She spies the skin of one of those fellows inside, and it's too pale to really be human skin. Or alive for that matter, revealing one of the three at the very least to be a vampire! The figure further down the hall is female, judging by the shoes Autumn glimpses in that quick moment; a pair of heels. It's hard to say due to the straps of her shoes, but her ankles MIGHT be tied, whatever the woman chooses to deduce from that. The front door looms nearby off to her left while she spies through the window.
Her eyes widening a bit, Autumn glances at the front door but she does not move towards it and she examines the group inside. She then takes a step forward towards the window, her gaze shifting between it and the door as she prepares to strike in case one of the figures notice or the front door opens.
The folks inside don't seem to have any idea that Autumn is outside for the time being. But that moonlight passes, and all she can see once again is the three at the table, one vamp and two unknowns. The conversation between the three of them remains silent to Autumn's ears but the gesturing and the back and forth pantomiming seems at the very least to get more heated and more agitated. Then, without warning - that vampire is rushing at the other two from across the table! And just like that, Autumn isn't watching a secret meeting to be spied on anymore, now it's a brawl between allies turned enemies! Now she has to decide whether to get involved or to high-tail it back toward the petite cuisine and back to her own business! (OOC: The opportunity to discover secret plot information has passed sadly, but there's still choices to make!)
Watching with surprise as the meeting becomes a fight, and Autumn begins to ponder before she decides to open the front door slowly and let herself in, unless it's locked. She still keeps her knife in her hand while she moves to the inside of the house.
Checking the door, Autumn will fiind it unlocked. Luckily right now, she doesn't really need to keep herself TOO quiet, apart from the opening of the door catching someone's eye it's not going to be something that creates a lot of attention being heard anyway. Getting inside won't be too hard, and it's the sight of the two who are clearly human engaged in a tussle with this vampire character. The two both have guns but they were on the table while they were arguing. Currently, that pale-faced figure is somewhat easily fighting off the hand to hand struggles of these two other gang bangers maybe? It's still hard to see in here, with absolutely no light going on.
Walking down the hallway, Autumn looks around the house, using her sense of hearing to find where the fight is. Should she finds them, she watches before she steps into the room. "Hello there," she speaks in a low voice. "I have been sent here. Maybe it's fate, but I suggest you both stop fighting or I will call backup if you kill each other."
With a sudden whirl, That vampire is turning to look right at Autumn when she speaks. Autumn herself of course can see shapes and dim details but there's no real detail to be had. The other two use that opportunity to try and jump on the other guy, turning to try and pummel him over in that moment of surprise. "Who the hell is that?! What the fuck! Get the fanger!"
The commotion comes all out over the place, now! The vampire is roaring out of surprise and then he's hurtling those two off of him. They stumble backward forcefully, crashing into some wooden furniture and smashing through it! Now there's the sound of breaking wood, and fighting filling up the hearing.
"I said stop fighting!" Autumn calls out towards the brawlers. "Don't make me call Ifrit here!" But her voice is being drowned by the sound of fighting, and she lets out a sigh before she chants words of power under her breath. She glances to her side as black smoke puffs out, and a glowing red-orange medium-sized creature, lizard-like with a blunt head and fiery wings behind its ears.
Smoke coalesces into the creature that Autumn calls forth and as soon as it takes corporeal form it dashes not for the vampire but for the two humans that sit in the room. Now they've got more things ahead than just their enemy in crime to deal with, that small little demon-like creature is rushing forward to slash and bite at the soft warm flesh of those two choice morsels. The vampire is able now to put all of its attention onto Autumn now though, the other two quite neatly taken care of. "Wrong move, girl." The voice comes out raspy but like old paper. It carries a slightly old-timey kind of inflection in the way it speaks, like a man out of time.
"Don't kill them, Ifrit!" Autumn tells her familiar while it hisses and attacks the mortals. Turning to face the vampire, she commands Ifrit to stop attacking them with a snap of her fingers. "What do you mean?" she asks it as she grips her knife. "You and those two where attacking each other."
Declining to answer her, the Vampire lunges forward and tries to attack Autumn with a sudden motion to get the drop on her! The snap of her fingers will easily command her familiar to stop the attack on those humans shy of putting their life into danger. The Vampire is strong, and it can see better than the woman in the dark, so it may have the upper hand and Autumn hasn't actually had the chance to call in any backup yet! Before she knows it, a too-strong grasp at Autumn's wrist will grab at her knife hand. "Because now you're in my grasp!" Those fingers try to grasp tighter, causing a pain to shoot through her wrist! She could be in trouble, now!
yelps in pain as she is grasped by the vampire. "Ifrit, attack this one!" Autumn calls out to her salamander familiar while she struggles to free herself. "Let's grow strong together, now help me!"
With a high-pitched screech the salamander is scurrying toward the vampire now, and that's the ticket isn't it? The hot lizard is native to fire and things of that nature and with a smoking hiss the vampire has to leap backward away from Autumn as the thing grows near and he has to avoid it like it's anathema to the undead. "Witch!" The undead hisses out at Autumn before he backs away from her .. then he's turning and makiong a break for it. He'll try to escape and simply jump through one of those boarded up windows, and to Autumn's dismay she'll find the vampire is faster and stronger than her tonight. Two bleeding humans remain groaning on the ground, and a cursory inspection of the heeled woman in the hallway will reveal a prostitute (likely) tied at ankle and wrist, already dead. Perhaps they were arguing about what to do with the body?
"I was too late to save her," Autumn frowns upon seeing the dead prostitute before she runs towards the humans. "Are you two alright?" she asks them while she sends Ifrit back to his home realm with another snap of her fingers, the familiar disappearing in a puff of black smoke. "Sorry if my familiar suddenly attacked you. I'll call for healers."
The two honestly are in no state to give Autumn much information right now, their faces and arms covered in a smothering of shallow but nasty-looking slashes and gouges. Making the obligitory call out to make sure these two will survive, all that's left now is for Autumn to make herself scarse. She wasn't in time to save this woman, or pick up whatever these three may have been up to but not everything turns up Aces, after all. A small reminder, but no less satisfactory - after all she's alive! The faint sound of sirens gives the woman her cue. It's time to get the hell out of here!-
