Autumns Odd Encounter Sr Legion 240520

In the solitude of a lighthouse bedroom amidst a serene night, Autumn Lynx encounters the unsettling figure of a ghost named Alice, an eyeless woman tethered to some unresolved tragedy. Alice, once a vibrant young woman, now bears the sorrowful marks of her untimely demise—dark, melted sockets for eyes and a heart heavy with the loss of a friend named Lily, abducted by a malevolent entity named Paul. Autumn, undeterred by the spectral presence, engages Alice with empathy and curiosity, delving into the ghost's troubled past. Alice's revelation of her and Lily's entanglement with Paul, a figure both ancient and vampiric, sets the stage for a poignant narrative of loss, longing, and the quest for closure.

Determined to aid Alice and rescue Lily, Autumn resolves to confront the sinister Paul, utilizing her resources as an Orderlite—a protector of the innocent and a champion against darkness. The dialogue between Autumn and Alice weaves a tapestry of hope and sadness, highlighting Autumn's unwavering commitment to justice and Alice's fragile grasp on her fading memories. Alice's acceptance of her fate, juxtaposed with her desire for Lily's liberation, reflects the profound despair and resilience of the human spirit. The story concludes with Alice's spectral departure back to her grave, leaving Autumn with a solemn pledge to cease Paul's malevolent reign and restore peace to the souls he has tormented. The narrative encapsulates a momentary encounter between two disparate beings bound by a common purpose: to fight the darkness and bring light to those ensnared by it.

In the lighthouse bedroom
This small room is sparse and serves as living quarters for the
lighthouse keeper. Rough stone walls form an insulated barrier from the sea
and begin to curve toward the entrance of the stairwell. A bed rests in the
corner of the room beside a porthole-style window while bookshelves line the
wall with numerous old volumes of marine history.

It is night, about 81F(27C) degrees, and the sky is covered by thin white clouds. There is a waxing gibbous moon.

(Your target encounters a ghost who's fixated on some past tragedy from their life, they need to either give the spirit some sense of closure, or send it on it's way through more violent means.

Sitting on the edge of her bed, Autumn is browsing and tapping the screen of her phone. A box of Cheez IT's sits on her lap, and the woman uses one free hand to digg into the box for a couple to munch on.

A woman walks through the wall. At first, she seems ordinary enough, apart from the part where she walks through walls; in her late teens, perhaps, she has a pair of earbuds in her ears, wired that run to an iPod in her hands. She's wearing leggings and a sports bra, and her gaze is somewhere else than Autumn -- until she startles, turning to see the red-haired demonborn. Then, clearly, the young woman is surprised, and perhaps so is Autumn, since this intruder has no eyes. Where her eyes should be instead are black, melted sockets, with some kind of dark goo running down her cheeks like smeared mascara.

Autumn notices movement from a corner of her sight and looks up from her phone to see the woman in the room. Her eyes start to widen upon finding the woman's sockets, causing the dusky demonborn to set her phone down beside her. "Who are you?" She speaks with a sign of caution.

The shock on the young woman's face is apparent as she turns to face Autumn, reaching up to take her earpods out her ears. Her lips move, and Autumn can see -through- the young woman; if it wasn't clear that she was a ghost before now, now it is obvious, with the brickwork of the lighthouse visible through her body. "Who --" She's echoing Autumn's question back. "Who are you?" she asks, but she's mouthing the words as if she is remembering how to speak English.

"I am Autumn Lynx," Autumn answers the ghostly woman. Putting the box aside, she gets off the bed and examines the ghost. "What happened to you?" She then asks the woman.

"I am Autumn Lynx," the ghost-woman repeats back to Autumn, and then it's a moment before Autumn's question really registers. It takes a second, those black, empty eyes trying to focus on the lighthouse keeper. It takes some time. Then she takes a breath. "I am --" She pauses. "Alice," she says. "I'm Alice." She says it with a little uncertainty.

"Oh, I remember girl named Alice," Autumn speaks with a blink of her eyes. Her wariness begins to fade as she relaxes and speaks. "Unless there is another one named Alice."

"I don't know," Alice replies to Autumn. "I died..." She looks around, though of course with no eyes it is hard to look around, isn't it? "What year is it?" she asks. This girl, clearly, is a brunette.

"I believe year on Earth is..." Picking up her phone, Autumn checks something on her phone before she finishes with, "Two thousand and twenty fourth year. Or twenty twenty-four."

"..." Silence, from Alice. Silence, and sadness. "It was 2019? 2018?" she says, quietly. "I don't remember. Every year, Autumn..." Closer now to the red-haired demoness. "Every year it gets harder to remember," the eyeless woman whispers to Autumn.

"...Is something wrong?" Autumn frowns while she inquires of Alice. "I suppose it could be memories fading until there's nothing left? Is there anything I can help you?"

There's an indrawn breath from the eyeless woman. "I lost -- I lost a friend," she admits. Her eyes have dark liquid running down them. "I don't know where she is," she admits. "Someone took her, and I'm trying to find her."

Autumn slowly nods her head while she listens to the woman. "Perhaps I can help with that," she tells Alice. "If we can search for her using some scrying, then we can save her from captor. That is, if I can find someone who knows how to scry."

"That would --" Alice's eyes would close, but of course they can't. "Thank you."

"I help people and keep them safe from danger," Autumn speaks with a small smile, putting her hands on her hips. "That's my duty as Orderlite." Her smile then fades before she nods her head at Alice. "So, do you remember your friend's name as well as one who stole her?"

"Paul," Alice breathes. "He took her -- and Lily." It's a jumble, tumbling over lips. "He was interested in all of us, but she's who 'won', only to learn that the prize?" she says. "The prize was awful."

"What... What was the prize, if I may ask?" Autumn murmurs as she clenches her hands into fists. "And we'll teach that Paul lesson since he sounds like bad guy and save Lily. Without resorting to murder, of course." She starts to grin while she lifts her left hand to place it on her chest.

The young woman says, her voice haunted, "Some ensorcelled slavery to -him-." She shakes her head. "Do not -- he is old," she explains to Autumn. "Old and awful and ancient, and he lives off the blood of others."

"Oh..." Autumn's grin turns to a frown after listening to Alice. "He must be vampire, but they have weaknesses. And I know some allies who know of ways to weaken him. Not everyone can live forever." A beat, before the dusky demoness wonders of the woman, "But how can we break that prize and free Lily?"

Sadness, worry: "I don't know." Alice's words are quiet. "But... We need to find him. Help her. Stop him from... finding someone else."

Autumn nods her head. "Right," she replies to Alice. "Crippling him with sun and wood or taking his powers away would be some kind of start, but we will need more help if we're dealing with someone ancient like him. And he is beyond redemption."

"Beyond redemption?" wonders Alice. "I sometimes think I am, too," she says after a while. "But... I should go." She pauses. "I feel my grave calling, and sometimes it gives me a little peace."

"And why do you think you can't be redeemed?" Autumn asks Alice before she lifts a hand to wave slowly. "But we will save Lily and prevent Paul from finding his next slave." She then falls silent as she gazes at the ghost.

"I'm dead," Alice tells Autumn. "My time at the scales?" she says. "It's gone." Then she turns to step through the wall, disappearing as she puts her earbuds back in.
