Autumns Odd Encounter Sr Savannah
Autumn, the lighthouse keeper, was going about her nightly routine when the sounds of distant shouting and an ominous red glow interrupted her evening. Sensing something amiss, she ventured outside to investigate. In the backyard of a nearby home, she encountered two terrified teenagers who explained that in a reckless attempt at dark magic, they had summoned a demon that was now wreaking havoc within their house. Determined to end the threat, Autumn introduced herself to the siblings and proceeded to confront the demonic presence, despite her lack of preparedness and magical resources.
Inside the house, Autumn encountered the source of the disturbing glow—a summoning circle with a pulsating, heart-like rhythm, and at its center stood a grotesque demon nearing full manifestation with every rhythmic pulse. Utilizing what little she had, a cloak and sheer determination, she managed to disrupt the summoning process by extinguishing the candles fueling the entity's transition into their world. Spotting a pulsing gemstone embedded in the demon's chest, Autumn took a gamble, summoning her courage and rage to forcefully rip out the jewel, effectively severing the demon's tie to their world. As a result, the portal closed, sucking the demon back into its hellish realm and leaving Autumn victorious yet winded. After ensuring the teenagers learned their lesson, she left them behind, walking back home as the obscure hero of the night.

In the lighthouse bedroom
This small room is sparse and serves as living quarters for the
lighthouse keeper. Rough stone walls form an insulated barrier from the sea
and begin to curve toward the entrance of the stairwell. A bed rests in the
corner of the room beside a porthole-style window while bookshelves line the
wall with numerous old volumes of marine history.
It is after dusk, about 52F(11C) degrees, and the sky is covered by dark grey clouds. There is a waning gibbous moon.
(A local teenager has been dabbling in dark magic and inadvertently summoned a minor demon. The demon is causing havoc around town, and your target must find a way to banish the demon back to its realm before it wreaks further destruction.)
Autumn is looking at her phone while she finishes on cleaning the bedroom. Using one hand, she is picking up books and putting them back on the shelves. "Damn spirits," she mutters once she finishes.
Those spirits that Autumn complains about very well may have been the ones to mess with those books, knocking them from shelves, but it seems if they were here, they are gone for now. This night belongs to something else, perhaps. From within that room, sound echoes from outside, not directly, but off in the distance, bouncing along rock and mingling with the sound of the sea. A wave crashes in the distant, a shout. Another wave, another shout. The words are not distinct enough from within the room, but it is clear that tonight, tending to books might be interrupted by the loud sounds of a few people crying out in the distance.
The sounds alert Autumn as she stops cleaning, looking away from her phone to find a cat outside the room hissing at a corner. "What is going on lately?" she signs, putting away her phone and getting herself dressed before she heads out. "I really need to deal with source."
The shouting in the distance only becomes louder once Autumn is dressed and outside of the Lighthouse. It allows for her to hear the waves more distinctly, the sound of crashing against cliff face in the distance, but now, carried on the wind are those shouts. There are some words that are able to be discerned in that blustery wind there at the cliffs, "Stupid... believe... told... trouble!" There is something in the distance now, an ominous glow of red, not like flames, there is no flickering and there is no smoke, but ahead in the distance comes a pulsating dark, red glow, almost surrounded in shadow. It rises and falls, glowing brighter then darker, almost like the beating of a heart and the shouts seem to be coming from that direction as well, now turned to someone screaming.
Looking around for the source of the screaming, Autumn finds the red glow and turns to run towards where it is. "Hey! What is going on over there?" She calls out towards the screams. Autumn pauses for a moment, her hands digging into her bag and comming up with nothing before she continues her way.
There is a startled young woman and a young man, looking related, staring back at Autumn when she runs over towards the home that is glowing. They're outside in the backyard now and they look rather terrified. The young man, shaggy dark hair rustling in the wind says towards her, "Who are you? We didn't do it, we swear!" The young woman is a little more forthcoming as she looks towards the approaching woman, clearly distraught, she frantically gestures towards the house, "He thought he could control it! Now look at it! It is inside of the house!" The pulsing glow was radiating outward now, becoming brighter by the moment. Dark. Red. Orange. Dark. Red. Orange. Like a steady heartbeat, slowing pulsating and becoming faster.
"I am Autumn Lynx," Autumn tells the young pair as she points her hand at the glow. "And you will end up bringing destruction to town if it's not stopped." Turning towards the house, she walks with caution towards the front door and, taking a small deep breath, she proceeds to open and head inside.
As the two siblings stand there, stunned as Autumn introduces herself and goes to face this potential crisis, alone. They begin to frantically speak towards each other, "Who even is that? Do we just let her in the house? Well, you're the one who decided to dabble in this like a fucking moron and now look at us! The whole house could be destroyed!" It seems while they bicker, Autumn is approaching house and heading inside. The first floor is mostly dark, the power perhaps out right now. There is a pulsing glow coming from up the stairwell, to the left, a long staircase that leads to the second floor. Now, Autumn can hear the sound above as well, a grating, scratching, pulsating hum that can only be described as one thing, power.
"I hope there is at least some magic in me," Autumn mutters to herself while she walks up the stairs. The hum causes her to look up at the glow as she reaches the second floor. "Maybe if I chant something, something could happen?"
The stairwell creaks as Autumn begins to climb up it and the glowing becomes brighter, the pulsing faster. As she rounds the corner of the stairwell she is greeted with quite the sight. There is a summoning circle, candles pulsing and flaring with the red glow that emits from the center of it. There in the center of the room is something terrifying, a demonic creature. It has cloven hoofs for feet, shaggy hair trailing over most of of its body. It has horns coming from the top of its head, twisted, gnarled and wicked. The skin of it is a darkened, bloody crimson, with hands clinched and its head lifted into the air as if it was about the sing with the cry of freedom to wreak havoc wherever it went. Now might be the time to stop it, but how?
"Oh look, demon from homeland," Autumn says upon seeing the demon before she looks around for something. "Should have kept that quartz, but that hurts like Hell anyway. Why would I even leave it hanging around?" Glancing at the demon, she slowly moves around while she searches.
The summoning circle has several corners to it, candles flaring when the pulsing red of the demon entering this world flares out. It allows Autumn the time to study her surroundings as it does not seem to be conscious in this realm of existence yet, but those flaring pulses are becoming faster now. Dark. Red. Orange. DarkRedOrange. DarkRedOrange. It is like a warning light showing that the summoning ritual is almost complete, the power of this demon almost manifest into this world. The glowing itself seems to come mostly from the summoning circle and the terrible vision from beneath that demon's feet. The surroundings of hell. Marching armies in the distance. Screams sometimes echoing out. Fire. Wrath. The demon's eyes actually open now, and they dart around their surroundings, his head beginning to move, it is soon that it may be free to do much more than that, eyes finding Autumn and looking at her with malice. Though, there, upon its chest, a pulsing gemstone, matching the rhythm of the glowing light.
Once she gets a look at the candles, Autumn moves to attempt to pick one up. She does eyes the demon's gemstone, her gaze lingering before she looks back to the candles. "Hope this works." Autumn gets ready to blow the flames out should she gets a hold of a candle.
The candle is picked up, but the flaring fire that comes from the wick of it with each pulsing blast might be enough to singe some of Autumn's hair should she be so close, but when it flares down and she puffs, it does blow out, only to find that the other candles seem to brighten, taking over for the one without the flame. This time though, as the magic and fire flares up around that summonining circle, the remaining candles turn inwards, towards the chest and the gemstone upon it, ruby red. It begins to glow now, and the demon's hands begin to move, clawed fingers clinching, flexing and that stare watches Autumn, hunger in the things eyes.
Seeing the other candles burn brighter, Autumn grits her teeth and, turning to face the demon, she throws the candle for some distraction. With a lift of her cloak, she uses it in an attempt to fan the flames out as she takes a step forward.
As the lifted cloak fans at the flames of the candles, one of them puffs out again and now that ruby, once filling with more power and life from the summoning ritual seems to slow. The claws do try and reach out to grasp towards Autumn now, but the demon moves slowly, their power not quite here in the real world, as if moving through something that is holding them back. The hand grabs at the air where the cloak used to be, ten seconds ago, that face it makes is one of pure hatred, malice. It clearly would love nothing more than to hurt Autumn and everyone around it, tongue snaking out and running over razor sharp teeth, maw opening wide, but the dousing of the candle flames does seem to be delaying the release of this creature!
Autumn continues to use her cloak for fanning, approaching before she stops and stands. With one free hand, she reaches out at the demon's gemstone, as if ready to rip it out of his chest. "This world is not yours to invade," she tells the demon.
When Autumn reaches out for the gemstone, the demon once again tries to reach for her to stop her from taking it, but his arm moves in slow motion, hand coming closer to her, inch by agonizingly slow inch. The maw of the creature turns into a snarling, vicious sneer as the gemstone is touched, and Autumn would find it attached to the demon's chest, as if by some magical force, but she could feel it give, just enough, perhaps if she put enough effort or energy into it, she may be able to snatch it away.
Her eyes lighting up with fury, Autumn looks up at the slowed demon and grins with narrow eyes. "Go back home, devil. You do not belong here." There is a sneering sound as she speaks before she pulls her hand back with what might and energy she has.
That would certainly be enough as Autumn channels that inner rage, that fuel to the fire, so to speak and the gemstone begins to rip, severing a connection between the flames that rush towards it. They flicker away, the red glow begins to die out, pulsating, slowly, as if breathing its last breaths. The demon, still swiping towards the woman starts to shimmer and once the gemstone breaks away fully, it begins to distintegrate into the woman's hands. The portal to Hell begins to close, shifting, the demon has their features beginning to warp, to melt, skin melting off bone as it all begins to be sucked right back into the place where it came, a resounding exploding *POP* sound echoing out as the room swirls in a torrent of wind and pulls at Autumn, yanking her towards the portal, just before it closes and leaves her smacking into the ground, hard.
"I guess losing jewel is worth it," Autumn says, getting up from the floor to her feet and dusting herself off. "But world is saved, which is good." She then turns to walk downstairs and out of the house.
The demon is gone, banished back to where it came as Autumn steps downstairs and back outside, she would see the two sibling still bickering with each other, but now noticing that the house is no longer glowing. They run up towards her and ask her, "Are you alright? Is it gone? What happened!" They actually seem rather in awe of Autumn coming out unscathed from the situation.
Nodding her head, Autumn makes an OK gesture at the two siblings. "I am alright. It is gone," she tells them with a small smile. "Never do something like that ever again." She then turns to walk home and leave the siblings alone.
The two siblings are left with that important life lesson by Autumn as she begins to walk off, back towards where she came, having stopped a threat from entering this world and wreaking havoc, the sounds of the bay smacking against rocks in the distance once more.
