Fayads Odd Encounter Sr Irene 241119

The story unfolds on a dark, mist-wrapped evening at Fayad's wizard tower, where he encounters Brad and Gennifer, a young couple who inadvertently find themselves at his doorstep. Fayad, having summoned dangerous mists to protect his solitude, is initially wary of the couple, recognizing their vulnerability to the nightmare creatures lurking in the forest. Despite his intentions to scare them off or perhaps because of some internal code of hospitality, he offers them shelter until daybreak. Brad's mix of ignorance and brazenness, coupled with Gennifer's clear discomfort and desperation to leave, sets the stage for a conflict between the mundane and the magical.

The situation escalates quickly as Brad, misunderstanding Fayad's warnings and hospitality, decides to brandish Fayad's spear, threatening the wizard in his own home. Despite the clear mismatch in their physical statures and Brad's disbelief in Fayad's abilities, the wizard demonstrates his power by setting Brad's clothes on fire through magical means. This act of self-defense leads to pandemonium, with Brad and Gennifer both reacting in terror. Fayad, leveraging both his magical prowess and close combat skills, manages to disarm and expel Brad from his tower, thus preserving both his property and his safety. The last glimpse Fayad has of the couple is of them fleeing into the misty forest, likely to meet an uncertain fate. This encounter emphasizes Fayad's determination to protect his solitude and his home from those who would disrespect his boundaries, showcasing both the perils that lurk in the shadows for the uninitiated and the unwavering resolve of those who dwell amidst them.

[Mon Nov 18 2024]

In the pinnacle of the wizard's tower

It is night, about 47F(8C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky. The area is wreathed in mist. There is a waning gibbous moon.

Fayad swears loudly to himself and slams the hatch shut, heading downstairs in preparation to receive 'guests.' He'd just summoned the mists so that the nightmare monsters out in the woods COULD maul all of his gods-damned Order guests, so they were in SEVERE danger at the moment. Car accidents were on the rise in all of Haven thanks to Fayad's recent ritual. He opens his door once he manages to get himself presentable, drawing his cloak in upon himself. "You're out late," he quietly comments.

By the time Fayad has reached the bottom of his very tall tower, the scene below has evolved. At this point, the brunette is throwing a mini tantrum in front of his door, while the handsome blonde man is physically dragging her by her arm, and forcing her to stay put. Nevertheless, she looks more annoyed than alarmed and isn't trying to escape him so much as pull him away from the tower, and so presumably they are here together. Although she does tell him, "This isn't funny!"

And in reply, his grin only grows, mirth mingled with affection in his dilated green eyes. He looks like he was about to say something else to her, until the door opens to reveal the short king of the tower. "Whoa dude ... Yo!" he instead greets Fayad. "Are you a wizard? Bro you look like, Gandalf. Oh wait, no. Radagast the Brown." (The jock is also a nerd, he has layers.)

The brunette, an early-twenty something like the nerd-jock she's accompanying, stares at Fayad in sudden alarm, and wraps both of her arms around one of the man's. "Sorry sir, we were just leaving ..." Her eyes track towards the spear that leans against his wall, and her plump lips part in surprise, but she says nothing of it.

Fayad interjects, "You shouldn't be. It's very dangerous in the woods at night." He tracks the woman's gaze, and nods. "I have it for protection. I won't need protecting from you, will I?", he shrewdly inquires, ignoring the wizard comments from the jock.

Neither of the two idiots who've found their way to Fayad's tower look armed or armoured, nor are they wearing faction symbols. But the high, handsome idiot seems to misunderstand the question, and he doesn't appear to notice the spear leaning against Fayad's wall. So he just grins all the wider. "Oh, no, dude, we're clean! We just got tested at the clinic, bro. Gennie here, she's real strict about that stuff." He wraps his arm around the brunette's shoulders, pulling her in tighter, and seems to be checking the effete man out.

On the other hand, Gennie looks up at her man in abject horror at the implication, and gives his oversized bicep a slap. "Brad! Stop it. We're leaving." Her dark eyes roam the walls that are visible through Fayad's door with growing concern, and then lift up to behold the full height of this tower, knitting her brows. This is a very strange choice of dwelling, after all.

Fayad informs them, "If you go out in the woods right now, you will likely die," with deathly seriousness. "I will let you rest here in my tower until daybreak, but then you must depart. The mists are high and the forest is dangerous. I am not interested in your proposition for sex," he informs Brad. "Not in the mood tonight." Through his doors, a small kitchen can be seen, full of a wood stove, and many racks of spices and ingredients - some mundane, some magical. They might literally see some 'eye of newt' if Gennie looks hard enough.

Being told he might die has Brad erupting with laugher. Gennie gives him a cold-eyed look, and then looks back to Fayad, clearly taking the matter a lot more seriously. "L-O-L, dude," the blonde man acronyms out loud, and then steps forward to give the Disruptor an affable tap on the chest with the back of his hand, just a light little shove. He's a big guy, strong and muscular, but at least the force of his arm isn't comparable to anything supernatural. There are even humans in town stronger than him, although not without the help of alchemical and cybernetic augments. If this guy's running on anything extra, it's probably steroids. "Do you always talk like that? You're funny, dude, I like that. I'm Brad, and this is Gennifer." He seems unaware that he and his lady have already been making enough noise outside to reveal that. "We were actually gonna camp out for the night, we're trying new things ... Gennie doesn't like anal."

Poor Gennie, who actually seems to share Fayad's stance on not being down for sex, gives her exceedingly handsome boyfriend an increasingly incensed, disparaging look, clearly questioning how much she lets him get away with. "What do you mean ... die?" she asks Fayad tensely.

Fayad takes a step back as he's pushed. He is Smol. He is Not Strong. His talents are in...other areas. "You're new to Haven. You don't understand yet that there are places you don't go at night when the mist is up." He's fine with them assuming that he's some kind of crazy hermit, but at least he's honest about warning them. "I mean you might get dragged off and eaten by things you don't see coming until it's too late."

"Yooo, really? Like what. A balrog?" Stepping further into the esoteric tower, the big blonde man, who is more than a foot taller than Fayad, wraps an arm around his shoulders for a tight, unsolicited hug, and then uses his other fist to ruffle the Middle Eastern man's disheveled dark hair. Upon releasing him he starts to wander around, taking in the sights. It's only now that he notices the spear, but he seems more impressed than concerned by it, and curiously picks it up.

Gennifer looks a lot more reluctant about this, but she does tentatively step into Fayad's home after her boyfriend. The final step that sees her fully crossing the threshold from the doorstep is her most reluctant one, as she keeps one foot out the door in more sense than one. Her discomfort is visible when she's far enough from the door that Fayad could shut it behind her, and she wraps her arms around her athletic torso warily, as if cold, even though it was colder outside. "Thank you," she says to Fayad politely, grimacing when Brad starts to physically antagonise him a little. She takes in the sight of all these strange alchemical ingredients with growing concern, however, and keeps looking back over her shoulder like she might be about to leave. "Umm, what's that?" she asks, fixating on the eye-of-newt.

Fayad closes the door, shutting out the mists. It's very warm inside - ninety degrees, even, toasty. "Please put that down," he asks, politely. "That's an alchemical ingredient. You know, for potions," he murmurs to Gennifer. "Right now I am worried about your boyfriend doing something stupid with my spear."

"... Potions?" Gennifer repeats after Fayad with a puzzled expression, knitting her brows in confusion. Her eyes track to Brad and the spear when the wizard says to put it down, and now her growing worry broadens to include the actions of her dumb, hot boyfriend, too.

Brad, on the other hand? Being told off just seems to excite him. He turns around to face Fayad with a grin, pointing the tip of the spear his way. "Or what, little man? You gonna hex me?" As a small comfort, it must be said that he's holding the spear all wrong if he's trying to appear threatening; he's probably never held one before at all. "Hey, I tell you what. If it's so dangerous out there, you should let me borrow this. So we can fight off the balrogs, yeah?"

"Brad, put it down," Gennifer echoes Fayad sharply, giving him a stern look. "Put it down right now." She takes out her phone from her pocket and starts hastily typing something. "I am so sorry, sir ... You haven't told us your name."

Fayad responds with "Yes, actually," troubled as he stares directly at the speartip. "My name is Fayad al-Munaqadh. I run Great News Community Center in town. For the homeless. I also live in a tower in the middle of the woods, as you have discovered." His flesh arm, to avoid revealing his mechanical one, reaches up and fingers his dragonscale pendant as he considers which form his mancing must take if Brad continued being genially threatening.l

"Oh dude, you are a wizard," says Brad, still grinning. "Can you show us a spell?" Although he stops pointing the speartip at Fayad, he doesn't put it down, either, and instead pulls it closer to himself, to better examine it top to bottom.

"Brad, if you put that down right now, I will do anal sex," Gennifer offers, in an unconvincingly unenthusiastic tone -- yet it works. With a wide, smug smile, her handsome blonde boyfriend sets it down, and then holds up both hands to Fayad in some substitute for an apology, which doesn't at all replace his self-satisfied look.

Surreptitiously, Gennifer sidesteps behind Fayad, further to the back, so that he can't keep his eyes on her and Brad simultaneously. Then, she angles her phone towards the alchemical ingredients on display, and snaps a picture. Unfortunately for her, she forgets to switch her phone to silent first, and an audible 'snap' sound follows, which may draw his eye just in time to see her standing there with a guilty look, and her phone aloft.

Fayad exhales in a fluid breath of relief, and then turns and gives Gennifer a blank, unimpressed stare. "Really?", he quietly asks her. "Would you like it if I came into your home and took pictures of your things?"

"Umm ... Brad we need to leave right now," says Gennifer, and not for the first time this night. While it hasn't worked previous times, her dumbass boyfriend at least seems to sense her growing discomfort around this other man, especially one who has turned them down for a threesome.

"Okay, yeah," he finally agrees, giving Fayad a squint. "This dude's weird. But I'm taking his staff." He picks up the spear from the wall again, now determined enough to even forgo her prior very tempting offer. "Thanks for the show and tell dude, but we're going now." He starts for the door, and for his athletic girlfriend, who continues rapidly typing on her phone, even as she studies their host with wide, worried eyes. His large hand closes around her arm to drag her back, while his spear once more points protectively across at Fayad, with a grip that still looks utterly incompetent to anyone who actually knows how to use one.

Fayad rolls his eyes, still between the duo and the door. "For fuck's sake," he sighs. "If you want to abuse my hospitality, then leave. But leave me my weapon. This is your final warning," he informs the pair of them. He figures no one in town will actually give a shit about boar's tusks or spider silkglands or eye of newt, but he's attached to that spear..

"Brad, just give it back to him," a nervous Gennifer whispers aside to her boyfriend, although since it's clearly not his brains she likes him for, she doesn't seem to have any problem at all being dragged away, nor held protectively behind his big, muscular body while he aims that spear.

"Nah," Brad decides, squaring off with the short king as they back up for the door. "He's not gonna do shit. You ain't a wizard, just a nerd. And if you try to do shit, then you'll have to explain to people why you live in some gay-ass tower in the woods. Real creepy dude, I bet you have bodies in the basement or some shit."

Fayad states, "Okay." And then the screaming begins.

Fayad shows his true monstrosity, the mancer being human in physicality but far removed from 'normal people' and their day to day lives. He clutches his pendant and whispers a guttural incantation, and Brad's outer apparel simply catches on fire. He draws his ritual dagger from his coat in his other, mechanical hand, preparing to fend off the spear of the unskilled opponent.

Unlike Fayad, Brad is not Smol. He is Strong. And his talents, aside from being genetically gifted and athletic (by human standards) ... are nonexistent. It probably hadn't remotely occurred to him that it's in any way possible for a Smol person to stand up to him, or for him to not get his way.

This realisation absolutely results in screaming. Manly, macho screaming, but screaming nevertheless. His deep voice bellowing can be heard for miles, and is soon joined by Gennifer's much girlier, high-pitched screaming. "What the fuuuck!" Brad yells, before charging the short king with the stolen spear. He misses completely, because he does not, in fact, know how to use a spear.

Gennifer, on the other hand, turns immediately and starts to run out the door.

Fayad aims to disarm Brad, darting to the side to attempt to avoid the thrust as he uses well-honed skills to get his property back. "Fucking bitch, I haven't treained to kill a fucking dragon all this time to be afraid of other humans," he hisses.

Having watched some action movies at some point, and being a college athlete, Brad seems to be suffering from intense delusions on grandeur on how this is supposed to go, so he doesn't expect clever martial arts techniques from Fayad, nor the fact that he's a regular in secret society warfare. He probably doesn't even know what that is. The spear clatters from his hand to the floor, having been held poorly in the first place. Nevertheless, now outraged, he swings his big fist at the wizard's head. "I ain't a bitch!" This seems to be the most important point. "You fucking gay ass pyro nerd! You should've respected my girl!"

As for the girl? Gennifer is presently running through the woods, screaming for help, and has left her boyfriend behind. She was fairly good looking though, so if she doesn't get captured by monsters, she should have no trouble finding a new one.

Fayad seems to believe that Gennifer is absolutely doomed to be captured by monsters. If she's lucky, the monster won't be her new boyfriend. Meanwhile, Fayad is engaging in the basics of CQC. As Brad charges at him, he utilizes some kind of judo to attempt to redirect his momentum out of the door out of the tower - if successful, he'll lock it, securing his belongings and himself.

Fully outmatched, the much larger man is hurtled out of the Smol wizard's tower, still yelling in alarm and struggling to put out the fire from his coat when he ends up sitting up.

Be this a comfort to Fayad or not, someone with his ego probably isn't likely to tell anyone how he got his ass beat by a little guy who turned him down for gay sex, or that he lost his girl in the process. The last thing Fayad sees before slamming the door on him is the agitated dudebro's face.

"Yo, Gen?" he can be heard calling for outside. "Gennifer, fucking ..." He scrambles to his feet and starts running after her.

Fayad scowls as he watches them out of his window until the mist rapidly swallows them up.

It is likely they will also be swallowed up by something else, shortly, maybe a grue, or a bunch of frogmen. As far as Fayad is concerned, he offered hospitality and got his shit fucked with and his moral obligations have been fulfilled.
