Lilianes Odd Encounter Sr Seamus 250412
In the mystical ambiance of the Black Rose Book Store's occult section, Liliane, an unwary browser, finds herself in an unexpected encounter when a noticeably distressed man stumbles into her vicinity. His condition, suggestive of extreme neglect and possibly mystical manipulation, draws Liliane's cautious yet compassionate attention. As he frantically searches through ancient tomes for a means to win back the affection of a being he describes in almost divine reverence, his actions reveal the depth of his devotion and desperation. The man's disheveled appearance and frantic mutterings about becoming more appealing to this entity hint at a past filled with manipulation and a dangerous form of love, potentially from a supernatural source.
Liliane, despite her initial hesitation, engages the man in a conversation, gently probing for details about his predicament. His description of the entity as a protector in exchange for a "price" paints a vivid picture of a complex and potentially sinister relationship. Liliane's advice evolves from skepticism to a mix of practical and whimsical suggestions, including dietary changes and personal improvement tactics, hoping to redirect his obsession into self-betterment. The man, grabbing onto her suggestions with a touching blend of hope and naivety, decides to pursue this new path of redemption – one that involves pineapples, steak, and possibly musical instruments. In a story marked by the intertwining of ancient knowledge and modern dilemmas, Liliane's encounter highlights the complex web of desire, power, and the quest for belonging, ending on a note of ambiguous optimism as the man leaves, possibly to better himself, though the shadow of his obsession looms large.

In the Occult Section of Black Rose Book Store
Dimmer than other parts of the store, this section is engulfed by an atmosphere of mystery and mystique where soft, ethereal lighting casts shadows on the shelves to create an ambiance equally as captivating as it is eerie. The air is thicker here with the scent of leather and old parchment underscored with sharp notes of incense, further intensifying the mystical aura. Oaken bookshelves tower to about seven feet, all lined with an impressive collection of old leather-bound tomes and modern publications alike, each containing a wealth of magic, mystory and lore. A sturdy wooden case with a glass top serves as a counter near the back of the store, housing an assortment of trinkets and tools used in various practices. Behind that, additional rows of shelves are lined with packets and jars of organic materials, each clearly labeled in gracefully flowing lettering. Faded tapestries depicting mystical symbols and mythological creatures adorn the walls, adding an aura of ancient wisdom to this anogmatic place where knowledge and magic intertwine, where seekers of ancient wisdom can immerse themselves in the asoteric and embrace fully the secrets of the occult.
It is afternoon, about 57F(13C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky.
(Your target and their allies encounter the former thrall of a vampire who has been discarded by their previous owner, likely mind controlled into complete devotion the thrall wants nothing more than to return. It is up to the characters to either help them return, or stop them from doing so.
)
Moving her hand up to stroke a stray lock of hair away from her face Liliane leans forward, scanning the oaken bookshelves in the Black Rose. Her mouth moves, reading silently over esoteric titles as she steps and stops, eyes flickering over multicolored tomes and paperback books without interest in any title or section in particular.
As Liliane browses the books in the Black Rose, a man comes in, looking out of sorts. He has a distictly "over fed" look about him: gaunt features, unhealthy skin, and and sunken eyes. His brown hair is thin and wispy. To the normal eye he is just another drug addict, to the trained observer he has been abused for far too long and it is endangering his life.
He stumbles in though, and starts looking at the books with Liliane, not making eye contact or even really talking with her, just muttering to himself as he frantically looks over the books before them searching for something.
With a wary expression Liliane takes a step away from the man, her eyes tracking him for a moment before she returns to the books. A moment of consideration takes up the silence before she speaks up, her head turning towards the brown haired man as she asks, "Are you looking for something specific?" In her hand remains her phone and a gentle glance is sent over towards her bodyguard while she awaits the man's response, a signal to remain ready but not one that demands action.
"I need to find a way for her to take me back," the man says as his searching becomes more and more obcessed, "Spell, potion, maybe just a note? Why did she move on? I bet she found someone else. Someone stronger. Maybe I need to work out more? Yes yes that's it. She doesn't not love me she just doesn't love me right now. Right? Right. She still loves me."
He continues looking over the titles of the books until he finds one on potions and flips it open starting to flip each page quicker and quicker. He isn't being very careful at all tearing pages as he flips them, and depending on how Liliane feels about old books, he is probably causing significant damage.
Concern shows on Liliane's face, though whether for the book or the man is unclear. She steps forward, a moments hesitation followed by another step until she is close enough to reach a hand in to cover the pages. Her eyes scan his features but she lets silence hold the air for a moment before she says, "Ah. Someone broke up with you?" Without waiting for a proper answer she continues with a shake of her head, "A potion or a spell won't help. You'd just end up wondering whether or not the love was real the entire time. You should..."
A pause follows as Liliane frowns a bit, her mouth opening and closing as she tries to find a solution in her mind, "Maybe write her a poem... or a song? Or just give her some time."
"No no didn't break up, she cast me aside," he says dropping the book on the ground when Liliane covers it with her hand. He reaches for another book to keep searching. "She said I had nothing for her anymore. That I wasn't satisfying her. I need to find a way to make her take me back. I need her to take me back."
Whomever 'she' is, this poor man is totally obsessed with serving her and her wanting him, but this isn't a simple lover's quarrel this is something deeper, more... primal.
Liliane's head follows the book to the ground, attention drawn away from the man for a moment. When her eyes return upwards Liliane seems lost in thought, eyes looking over the man but seeing nothing but someone heartbroken despite the lingering undercurrent of something much worse. She thinks a bit, perhaps considering whether the man is a lost cause on her but decides to speak anyways, "Well... Then why don't you describe what she's like for me? Maybe I can point you in the right direction."
"She is the most beautiful creature you have ever seen, powerful, majestic, and caring," he says with a wistful sigh. "When you are with her you are safe. No harm will ever come to you as long as you pay the price." He seems lost in thought for a moment, "I have to get back to her, I have to be safe with her again, I have to pay the price." He looks back up to Liliane, "Oh! You think you can help me get back to her? I am sure you can convince her to take me back!"
A skeptical look overcomes Liliane's features and she tilts her head. "Me? Oh I'm not that persuasive. But maybe you can explain the price to me too?" comes as a response as Liliane kneels down to pick up the discarded book and places it back in its previous, safely bookshelf'd position. "I'm sure it's not money...." she says, but then after a short pause she cuts off anything the man might have said, "Ah. No... I get it. You know what you can do? Just get strong enough that she can take what she needs from you, whenever she needs it. Maybe... I don't know, start running more or something."
"Running, oh yeah that is a good idea," he says as his hands start to take on a typical 'pill rolling' tremor that is seen in patients going through Parkinson's or some other neurological disease. "Maybe eating leafy greens? I don't know I don't know. Is that what it will take? What about red meat?" He looks up at Liliane and attempts to put his hands on her shoulders to give her a light shake. "What else should I do? I need to know."
Liliane's eyes widen as hands are laid upon her but she shoots a glance and holds a hand up, stopping her bodyguard from intervening before she starts to take a step back. "Ah, yeah. Red meat and... And... Pineapples," she responds with a snap of her fingers. "Work out, eat red meat and pineapples and learn to play an instrument and I'm sure she'll take you back after she sees how much tasti- You've done to improve yourself."
"Pineapples? Really? I thought that was just a rumor on the internet?" the John Doe says looking at Liliane for a moment then drops his hands to his side and off of her before looking her over and nods, "Yeah yeah. Ok I will get some Pineapple and Steaks and eat that every day and run every day until I am better. Stronger for her. Yeah that makes sense yep yep."
He pauses then and looks around one more time, "Uh. Thank you. I think. Yes thank you thank you."
Liliane's posture relaxes as his hands remove themselves, a faint nod given in response as she says, "Yeah, that'll definitely work. Good luck with her?" Liliane responds, turning back to the bookshelf and resuming her browsing with a hundred questions on her mind.
And with that, the man shuffles off back out of the store to work on his ability to be more edible.
