Lilians Odd Encounter Sr Mila 250118
On a cold evening, Lilian is found in the serene setting of her yard, meticulously washing blood out of her clothes in a shower. Declan arrives, followed by Kira, to find Lilian covered head to toe in blood, a consequence, she casually remarks, of a recent encounter with a pack of velociraptors. Amidst this odd reunion, an amber alert disrupts the tranquility, announcing a ten-year-old child missing in the woods near Lilian's property. The child, last seen being driven into the forest, is revealed to be from a prominent Boston family, igniting a glimmer of interest in the potential reward for their safe return. Despite the urgency of the alert, Lilian proposes a peculiar plan: she'll wait at the forest's edge while Declan and Kira, equipped with Kira's arsenal, undertake the search into the potentially perilous woods.
Declan and Kira, undeterred by the daunting task or the chilling weather, agree to venture into the forest in search of the missing child. Lilian, after drying and somewhat cleaning herself under the shelter's heaters, leads them to the threshold of the dark, ominous woods. With a final check on her weapons and a dismissive comment on the likelihood of seeing any reward money, Kira steps forward, ready to brave the unknown perils alongside Declan. The forest, eerily quiet and empty of its usual wildlife, seems to swallow them whole. As they disappear into the dense trees, guided only by Lilian's vague direction and the promise of a notable, yet skeptical, payday, the story leaves them to confront whatever mysteries lie hidden in the depths of the forest, as Lilian watches on, a silent guardian of the threshold.

In a small grassy yard below an apartment
The backyard, once a simple expanse of green grass, has been transformed into an unexpected oasis. At its heart lay an onsen, a sunken stone bath large enough for multiple people that shimmers with the promise of tranquility. Fed by spring water, the water of the onsen is a tranquil turquoise and steam rises from it's surface no matter the weather.
Around the onsen, a Japanese-inspired garden begins to unfold. Smooth, grey river rocks are carefully arranged to create a sense of movement and flow, mimicking the path of a stream. Moss-covered boulders, like ancient sentinels, punctuated the landscape, adding a touch of rugged beauty. As if to frame the scene, a Japanese maple tree, its branches bare in this winter time, stands as a sentinel, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
The sparring area has been preserved but at the side, in a large circle of perfectly mowed grass.
On every side of the garden, tall brick walls ensure privacy with vines grown over the brickwork to made a facade of nature.
From the maple tree and around the onsen, small lanterns hang, giving off a soft warm glow.
It is night, about 18F(-7C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky. There is a waning gibbous moon.

Lilian is currently in the shower, washing copious amounts of blood from her clothes. She is completely covered in blood.
Water sloughs off Lilian's clothing. The stain of red goes from dark to light, disappearing in a slow whirl down the train. There's a peaceful silence here, guarded from the inclement cold. The murmur of wind past trees, the chirp of the errant cricket... the sudden blare of a loud alarm, come from what's presumably Lilian's phone. If she's from the States, she'd recognize it for the telltale Amber Alert.
Lilian apparently invited Declan and possibly other people as well to her yard. She looks up from washing blood off her clothes. "Hello Deccy. That bored eh?" Her eyebrow lifts as the amber alert tone rings on her phone. "Urg I thought I silenced that crap." Using a wet hand - her phone is waterproof after all, she fetches her phone from her dress to squint at it.
"People don't do much in the mornings," observes Declan, who seems to be up in the early hours as usual, and not really dressed for the onsen. "Need help with that?" he asks Lilian, though as the phone rings - and his does, too, likely, though it's on a lower sound setting - he takes it out to look at the screen. "Hmm. Missing person."
"Eh I invited a bunch of people over." And infact the door opens to reveal Kira and whoever else managed to come along with her. "You can wash my hair if you like." She tells Declan with a smirk as she thumbs her phone to read out the message. Lilian's hair might've gotten significantly longer since Declan has seen it, falling to midchest now.
There's no silencing danger. Not in this lovely town of Haven. It's becoming rather passe, this 'missing person' business. There's always someone lost in the woods, always some poor soul who's gone and had a limb lopped off. It'd be easy to let yet another notification fade into the background, to be actioned upon by the right authorities -- except that by the looks of it, this is a child. Maybe ten, the text says, last seen in a white t-shirt and with hair cropped short to the shoulders. Even someone inured to the goings-on in Haven might take note. Look at those big, brown eyes.
Below in a caption: Last seen in a car driving past town and into the forest.
Kira smirks at Lilian and Declan, rolling her eyes. She raises up her left hand, suggesting to Declan, "High f-... uh nid... range five?" She kind of leaves that hanging by dropping her hand down nesr her shoulder and curling her fingers down. She struts up closer to Lilian, leveling her self-criticism. "Oh my -god- could I have sounded -any- more lame?"
"A ten year old. Last seen driving in a car past town and into the forest." Lilian tells Declan with a roll of her eyes and a wave to Kira, "Geez they let kids drive young these days. Hey Kira." She adds as she continues to rinse blood off of her - the woman is DRENCHED absolutely DRENCHED in blood. "Time for you and Deccy here to go rescue someone from the forest."
"Maybe later. You do something with your hair?" Declan says to Lilian with split focus, zooming in on the photo on his somewhat beat-up phone screen before stowing his phone and looping his hands at his nape. He gives a nod at Kira and would move to answer her without leaving it hanging, if not, well .. but still, other priorities. "Seems to be a missing kid, Dunno why people are letting ten year olds drive."
"Yeah I grew it out." Lilian answers to Declan as if hair just grows from ear length to chest length overnight.
Presumably, the kid was being driven, but look, in a town where the supernatural run amok, crazier things have happened. In any case, it's apparently a Big Deal. The kid's from one of the wealthier families - not one of the notables in Haven, but outside of it, in Boston. There's a cash prize associated with capture.
With a sigh Lilian looks at the phone and sets it on the side of the shower caddy as she continues to rinse herself with her clothes on, the water still running quite red, "Either of you interested in that?" She asks, nodding towards their phones.
"Doubt they'll pay up, but that's a nonzero chance," Declan figures, definitely skeptical of Lilian's claims about hair but dismissing them. He walks about to look for a valve in a pipe somewhere to reduce the water pressure for Lilian, looking at Kira. "May as well help look for this kid, right?"
Remember, folks. Big brown eyes. Think the cat from Shrek.
Kira stares at all the blood with this confused as hell look on her face, asking Lilian bluntly, "Do you just go swimming in. pool of it or something?" She puts her left hand on her hip and sighs, glancing at Declan a few times. "Yeah we aught to go after the kid. Heard it's the great grandkid of that guy that owns the Primark building out in downtown crossing. Uh that's out in Boston."
"No I wish I went swimming in a pool of blood but to do that I'd have to bleed Deccy out here into a bathtub. Then I'll look extra pretty though." Lilian tells Kira with a nod, "This unfortunately just the result of skinning a whole bunch of velociprators. Particularly good pack out tonight..." Yes she said velociraptors. Sighing she looks over at the two, "How about.. I wait at the edge of the forest... and you two venture in... and if I hear any screaming.. I'll come home?" She asks them brightly.
And if that's the case, Kira, the cha-ching may be well worth it. In any case, what better time to go a-lookin'. The sun's barely peeking through, and there's a bitter cold biting at any uncovered skin. Actually, the covered skin, too. Lovely weather. Perfect for a jaunt through the trees, into the waiting maw of monsters.
A nice coat and hat would be welcome. Declan has neither, but he seems to resolve he'll make do. At least he's somewhat more covered up than the other two. He rubs his face, glances at Lilian, and turns to go. "Better get moving then. You sure you'll go out like that?" He's less concerned about Kira but then again she's not soaking wet.
Sighing Lilian turns off the shower and towels herself somewhat dry before standing underneath the blasting gas heaters set around the onsen. It quickly dries her leathers although she is still rather covered in blood. She jams on her sunglasses and picks up cloak, squinting at the east. "If this takes more than half an hour I am ouuttt." She warns the other folks as she opens the backgate, leading them into the forest behind the property.
Actually... it really is perfect for Kira. She's been out in the weather dressed just like this, and her nipples may be hard from the cold, but she's not been shivering at all. "So how about we put pedal to metal and foot to ass?" She opens the door again and grabs her duffel bag from outside the door. (Glad that experiment worked. >.>) "Congrats, you get to meet Grendel today.", she explains to Declan and Lilian, getting herself strapped up for the joirney. Security Detail One.
Would Lilian leave Declan and Kira to fend for themselves, just because the clock's run out? That's rather cruel. Although, maybe in that case, she could pass off her cloak to Declan. That'd work like a coat. While the group deliberates, the phone goes wild, beep-beep-beeping. The cash prize's gone up.
"These fuckers never pay anyways once you return the kid. I guaruntee no one would see a cent." Lilian sighs out again as she leads the troops into the forest. "Alright good luck finding them..." She waves her hands forwards as she looks for a nice boulder to sit on.
Lilian's property backs onto the forest.
A forest anyways. Lilian recalls.
The trees loom higher and denser on approach, swallowing visibility. There are no further instructions from the phone. It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Nothing seems out of place - other than, well, everything that always is. Except... hm. Normally, there'd be birds chirping by now. All that remains is a deadened silence.
Lilian's nose twitches slightly and she puts her hand on Declan's shoulder pointing him in a certain direct, northwest in this case. "There's something funny over there. Go check it out thanks."

Sweep the floors, Cinder-elly. Night and day, Cinder-elly. Make the fire, wash the dishes, do the mopping. That's probably what's awaiting Declan and Kira if they finish up fast at Lilian's behest. Maybe going on a wild goose chase for some kid's a boon, honestly.
Declan(sorry)
Lilian nods towards the woman with the assault rifle and vest who apparently... has been carrying it everywhere. "Eh maybe you want to take the lead Kira."
