Lucys Odd Encounter Sr Emil 241219

In the heart of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, amidst the cozy clutter of college life, Lucy receives a message that sets the stage for a harrowing encounter. A civilian lost in the woods and a dangerous presence looming close by prompts her into action despite her reluctance. Braving the chilling embrace of a stormy morning, she ventures into the woods west of town. Her determination shines as she calls out to the lost individual, navigating through the dense foliage with a mix of caution and resolve. The arrival of a foreboding message on her phone heightens the tension, warning of a creature that hunts by noise, marking the beginning of a suspenseful search.

As Lucy tiptoes through the underbrush, the situation escalates quickly with the sighting of red eyes and the unmistakable presence of danger. With quick thinking, she uses the cheerful strains of a magical girl anime to guide the lost voice closer, only to confront the source of the threat—an oversized, wounded bat-like creature, evidence of a brutal encounter marked by bullet wounds. The arrival of four men, bearing the unmistakable aura of New Jersey hunters, adds a twist to the tale. With their guns trained on the creature, they reveal a connection to the supposedly lost civilian, turning a potentially violent confrontation into a tense but peaceful resolution. Lucy, despite the fear and uncertainty, manages to navigate the complexities of the encounter, offering her help and revealing her affiliation with the Order, sidestepping conflict with a proposition of mutual benefit. The story concludes with the hunters departing with their kin, leaving Lucy to reflect on the night's events, the adrenaline fading as she retreats from the woods, a silent witness to the cruelty and unexpected alliances formed in the shadow of danger.

In Room Six in Delta Delta Delta Sorority
This dorm room is a lively tapestry of college life and sisterhood, shared by two girls. On one wall, a DELTA DELTA DELTA tapestry takes center stage, surrounded by candid snapshots brimming with laughter and shared memories. Twin beds, each with plush, patterned bedding, are strategically positioned to maximize the space, their arrangement creating individual nooks of personality and comfort. A whiteboard calendar, bustling with color-coded events and deadlines, hangs near a makeshift vanity that's a collage of cosmetic treasures and strings of fairy lights surrounding a Wal-Mart mirror. Dressers sit at the foot of each bed, covered in stickers.

It is morning, about 21F(-6C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky.

Lucy lays on her bed, her unkempt appearance hard to miss-her hair is messy, her skin covered in dirt, her wrinkled clothes hint at days of neglect, and there's a faint weariness that clings to her as she stares up at the ceiling, ruminating.

The weather outside was teetering on frightful, stormclouds gathering around the sky to darken it, especially given the fact that the December Sun had lost its summer luster by this point. Lucy's phone seems to ring loudly, vibrating and playing an audible beep. The phone's screen blinked a few times, indicating some form of warning with a message now being delivered from what was one of her higher ups in the Order. The message read "Something bad is about to happen west of the town in the woods, an individual was lost and a dangerous presence has been spotted stalking them. See if you can help them."

Lucy groans softly, the stormy gray light filtering through her window matching her mood as she stares at her phone screen, the words weighing heavy in her chest, "Of course." she mutters under her breath, tossing the covers aside.

Lucy's body protests as she swings her legs over the side of the bed, the warmth of the mattress clinging to her skin like a pleading tether. Begrudgingly, she forces herself to stand, rubbing at her eyes and smoothing her hair with a lazy hand. West of town, in the woods, she thinks, her mind already piecing together the route as she begins to head on over.

The dreary morning was still covered by the bright moon light cast from waning gibbous moon. People walked and drove to where they had to like any other day until Lucy reached the edge of woods. Venturing in was dangerous for most, but surely her mission was more important than her own safety. West was the way to go and even after venturing just a little bit, a faint 'hello? anyone out there?' could be heard.

Lucy pauses at the edge of the woods, the soft crunch of leaves under her boots muffled by the eerie quiet. The faint call sends a shiver down her spine, though she quickly brushes it off. Focus, she thinks, squaring her shoulders before stepping further into the trees. Her voice cuts through the silence, firm but cautious, "Hey! Do you need help?" she calls, angling her steps toward the direction of the sound. Her gaze darts between the trees, her senses on high alert as she moves deeper into the woods, "I'm coming toward you, just keep talking so I can find you!"

Was this going to be some quick one-and-done rescue mission? This seemed far too easy, and it sure turned out that was the case. Lucy's phone vibrated this time instead of even eliciting any kind of beeping, flashing a warning symbol alongside the words " Be wary, reports are that a creature that hunts by noise is present. Watch your step." The woman in the distance yelled back, still far away yet somewhat closer this time "Yes? Hello? I'm lost."

You know that sinking feeling that you're being watched? Well, Lucy likely felt that was a faint pair of red eyes and a small orange light underneath them seemed to shamble by in the distance.

Lucy freezes as her phone vibrates in her pocket, the warning flashing across the screen making her stomach twist. Slowly, she crouches down, her fingers finding the grip of her tranquilizer pistol. She steels herself, calling out one last time, her voice loud and clear, "Hey! Over here!" It's calculated, meant to draw whatever was lurking over. Without waiting for a response, she ducks behind a nearby tree, pressing her back to the rough bark. She grips the pistol tightly, her senses heightened, listening for the slightest rustle or movement in the underbrush.

The distant voice responded, getting a bit closer "Keep talking, I think I'm getting closer!" and sounding a bit more enthusiastic at the prospect of what would be rescuer. Then, dead silence. Not even a shift in the leaves, it was almost like the forest itself held its breath for what was about to happen. It was quiet, dead silent...

And then, almost like a bullet, a thunderously loud whistle was heard from afar, followed by a loud, bloodcurdling `screech. Lucy's eyes were unable to glimpse at more than just a blur flying over her head.

Lucy's breath catches in her throat. The blur overhead is gone before her brain can process what she saw, leaving her heart hammering in her chest. Her grip tightens on the tranquilizer pistol as she presses herself lower against the tree. Slowly, she begins moving, inching around the base of the tree with her pistol raised. Her fingers move quickly, her heart racing as she unlocks her phone and pulls up YouTube, and the bright, overly saccharine opening theme of a magical girl anime blares out as she taps play on her most recently viewed video. She tosses the phone a few feet away. She crouches lower, gripping her tranquilizer pistol tightly as she shifts her position behind the tree.

Turns out that playing some of that Sailor Moon-inspired music helped the voice that was distant get their bearings and step a bit closer, shouting out "Hello? Is this someone here help me? Are you there?" A few barely audible 'phiu' 'fiu fiu' 'fiu-phiu' are heard from the direction the blur flew towards and the creature that had flown makes it self visible.

An oversized bat-like creature seemed to have been their stalker but it wasn't doing any kind of stalking right now. No, it was instead dragging its bloodied and mangled body across the forest floor, four bullet wounds on its back. It's very slowly crawling with one hand, making some meek, almost pathetic noises. From behind it, rustling and voices can be heard talking, approaching.

Lucy's stomach churns as the oversized bat-like creature drags itself along the forest floor, it's body riddled with bullet wounds. The pathetic, broken noises it makes claw at her, tugging at something soft and unwilling to harden completely in her chest.

She raises her tranquilizer pistol- 'This is stupid. This is reckless.' The voices in the distance are getting closer, and she knows she should be using this time to run or prepare for whatever is coming next.

But she doesn't. Her grip tightens on the weapon as she takes a step closer to the wounded creature, and she pulls the trigger. Her hope-naive, maybe-is that this will dull its pain, make the inevitable a little less cruel. She steps back, pistol still raised, her hands shake as she quickly fumbles to reload the tranquilizer pistol, her eyes darting nervously between the wounded creature and the rustling sounds growing louder.

Now tranquilized, the creature almost seems to drift into a slightly more peaceful state, almost looking like it was taken a nap in a small pool of its own blood. But just as Lucy attempts to reload, another 'phiu' 'pew' 'fiu' are heard, three bullets whizzing by and landing in the creature's back some more, all coming from the silenced handgun of a man from a group that approached.

The group turns out to be four New Jersey-looking American-Italian men dressed up in a rather casual manner. One was absolutely obese, another was portly, another somewhat old with one hell of a fake haircut and another was a younger looking, slim one. The younger one pipes up to say "Mah-rone, look at the size of that thing, told you there'd be good hunting tonight, Tone'."

The portly one pulls out their burning cigar to point at the bloodied creature, answering "Hey, guess for once you're right, Chris." He then turns to look at Lucy, about to say something when the obese one says "There wasn't any communication about other Temple operatives out there, was there? You uh-, you in the know with all of this or? Who you with?"

Lucy stands frozen, her heart racing as the new group of men emerges, their presence jarring and utterly out of place in the tense, forested night. Her eyes flick briefly to the creature, it's breathing slow and ragged as the tranquilizer starts to take effect. She opens her mouth, words ready to spill out, but something holds her back. Her gaze flicks from the creature, now clearly dying in its own blood, to the group of men, watching her expectantly. The truth is, she doesn't know if she could stop them, if her voice would make any difference at all. There's a part of her, maybe even a part she hates, that fears speaking up in this moment. Instead, she just lets out a shallow breath, too quiet to be noticable, "I... I'm out here to find a monster that hunts by sound." Her fingers brush lightly over the scroll symbol on her choker, the one that would identify her as a member of the Order, "Maybe we can help each other out?"

The situation was tense, but then in walks the woman that apparently had been lost, looking at the group and then at the creature. She seems to linger on the creature for a few moments, but the group quickly hide their guns upon seeing her. "Cousin Vinny? Anthony? Chris? Oh thank God you got my call. What is that?" She asked, pointing at the now-dead creature. The portly man approaches her and grabs her by the shoulder gently, leading her off while saying "Just a bear, don't worry about it, Aunt Ginny, let's get you home, alright?" And just like that, the group walks off, with a few of them turning to look at Lucy and stare daggers, but leaving her well enough alone. Turns out this bat creature might've been the creature hunting around.

Lucy offers a small, almost bitter smile. She lets out a breath she didnt realize she was holding, the adrenaline beginning to fade into a dull ache of exhaustion. With a final glance at the abandoned creature, she turns, slipping silently away from the woods, heading back toward the college.
