Meridiths Odd Encounter Sr Carmine 240410

Under the gloomy skies of Haven, Meridith, a member of a secretive organization, was tasked with a critical mission: to neutralize a potential threat to the supernatural world's secrecy. An amateur paranormal investigator had stumbled onto undeniable proof of the supernatural, and Meridith's objective was to ensure this evidence never saw the light of day. Arriving at the Antler's Hotel, she smoothly bypassed the usual bureaucratic obstructions with a nod from the hotel staff, who seemed all too familiar with such covert operations. Unbeknownst to her, however, a pair of ominous individuals from another, less merciful organization had also arrived, intent on the same goal but with far less consideration for the investigator's well-being.

Inside room 203, Meridith encountered the investigator fresh from the shower, unprepared for the confrontation that awaited. Tensions escalated quickly as the investigator realized the gravity of his situation, and the ensuing commotion attracted the attention of the other operatives outside. With quick thinking and a display of her telekinetic abilities, Meridith subdued the intruders long enough to convince the investigator of his perilous path. Opting for a less drastic solution, she persuaded him to abandon his quest in exchange for his safety, sparing him from the grim fates often met by those who dug too deep into the world's hidden truths. Though they parted ways under the mantle of a compromise, the encounter left Meridith questioning the morals of her actions and the cost of maintaining the supernatural's secrecy against the unyielding pursuit of truth.

In A Small Cabin
In this small but well-designed living space the walls are adorned with wooden panels, giving a sense of nature indoors. To your left, there's a black sofa with plush cushions, and warious throw pillows. The sofa is strategically placed near a large window that allows natural light to fill the room during the day. The window also provides picturesque views of the surrounding wilderness.

On the opposite side, there's a neatly arranged bed with green linens and various mix-matched pillows. The bed is framed by a wooden headboard, adding to the rustic feel of the cabin. Overhead, a warm and subtle lighting fixture casts a soft glow, creating a tranquil ambiance in the sleeping area.

Adjacent to the bed, a built-in closet is seamlessly integrated into the wooden wall. The closet features sliding or folding doors, maximizing space efficiency. Inside, there are shelves, drawers, and hanging rods for organizing clothes and personal items, keeping the cabin clutter-free.

Overall, this one-bedroom cabin combines the comforts of modern living with the tranquility of nature, providing a serene retreat for those seeking a peaceful escape.

It is morning, about 45F(7C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky.

(An amateur paranormal investigator has stumbled onto the truth of the supernatural world and has evidence. Your target and their allies are tasked with containing the situation.
)
It's a casual tuesday morning in Haven, dark stormclouds constantly hang in the air to keep the town in a shade of darkness. A warning about a monster wandering about town is almost constantly blaring but going unanswered. None of this is immediately concerning to Meridith in her humble cabin. What is immediately concerning is a message delivered to her phone flagged urgent. Not unlike the warnings of the monster. But this one appears to be a seperate issue demanding Meridith's attention.

Meridith listens everytime it is noted, she wants to go but...can she fight it alone? Harry was so adamant. So it gets left, and she stares at her phone every fifteen minutes. She blinks, and sees another text and goes to read it

Passed down the chain of command to Meridith, a mission. However brief needs attention from her. It seems an investigator has come to Haven to collect evidence of the supernatural and they managed to gather some sensitive data. Meridith's organization is the first to become aware of this and wants Meridith to go to the antlers, room 203 and destroy the evidence and send the investigator packing. Likely without harm given what group Meridith fights for.

If another, less forgiving organization takes up the task. The innocent human is likely in much deeper trouble.

Meridith hums, she stretches out and considers this. Venetian tasks, she wrinkles her nose. She doesn't really give even the slightest bit of a fuck about keeping the secret, but she isn't so reckless as to turn against Venice. With a sigh and a lobbing of a phone across her bed she kips up and gets ready. Gear, surreptitously stowed, the Antler won't allow weapons anyway, and drives off on her bike to the hotel

The trip to the antlers is uneventful. At Meridith's arrival there is hardly a soul in sight. It's not exactly tourist season around the hotel at the moment.

On the way into the Antler's Meridith is both greeted and recognized by symbol by the hospital staff and slipped an extra key to the room. "Don't make too much a mess." the man behind the counter says boredly as he has encountered this specific scenario countless times.

Meridith waves a hand. "Just gonna talk," she advises the man, slipping upstairs quietly with some resigned steady steps.

Approaching room 203, Meridith happens to catch a glimpse outside the window of the hallway to the street where she left her vehicle. A van with tinted windows has showed up and two men in dark clothing have exited the vehicle. There isn't much identifying info on them but Meridith would have the sense that they are here for the same reason, though with less than ideal methods as far as the Order would be concerned.

From within the room, the sound of a shower running is obvious to Meridith's ears.

Meridith exhales gazing out the window and is at least grateful that without her weapons maybe they'll be poorly armed as well. She turns the key and slips inside, closing the door quietly behind her, and relocking it.

Meridith enters the room without a problem. The shower continues to run and so there is no indication that Meridith has been detected. The room is lived in, with disheveled sheets, an open suitcase with clothes haphazardly kept inside. On the desk is a laptop with a thumbdrive inserted into the side of it. It's been left on.

Meridith moves to the computer. She's no expert, but, well, she just takes it, tucking it away to submit for inspection and potential instruction. She also goes through their other possesions, exploring

Silence, the shower is off. Then movement is heard before the door to the washroom opens and a man with a towel wrapped around his waist steps out. Fresh out of the shower and for a split second still contently unaware of Meridith going through his computer.

Meridith offers a slim wave to the man. "Hello," she says calmly as she snoops.

"What the fuck? Who are you?" the man shouts at Meridith, looking shocked then pissed off as he realizes what hes doing, "That's my property, leave it and get out." he gets red faced and takes a step towards Meridith as if he might have hostile intent. But it's mostly just bluster.

It's around this time footsteps from the hallway approach and stop at the door where two men talk amongst themselves about a lack of a spare key being available. "Just kick it down." one of them says while the other is more reasonable and decides to knock first.

Meridith whistles. "Taken care of pals, back off," she says hotly to the door. Then to the man she smiles sheepishly. "You know the Men In Black?" he seems like the conspiratorially minded folk. "I'm the nice one they send before they show up," she says. Then she gestures to the door.

A bit of commotion occurs at the door when Meridith speaks to them. They seem surprised and then one of the men seems to ram against the door, cracking the door frame but it holds, "Hey this is our job." they say.

This attempt to ram down the door makes the investigator in a towel pale and he goes, "What do they want? You have to help me"

Meridith exhales annoyed. "Guys, back off, or I'm defenestrating you out that window. I got here first, back off," she tells them, glowering. "Last chance!" This little five foot whatever young woman declares boldly.

Meridith gazes at the man. "Put clothes on, we may be running and I don't wanna deal with your dick."

It's too late to get dressed as another smash against the door sees a big burly guy dressed in a black suit comes bashing through the door, he nearly trips on his way in as he didn't expect it to give so easily the second time.

With Meridith between the investigator in a towel and the two men she's in a pickle. She also has the laptop with her. "Defenstrating you? Speak English. Actually just get out of the way, we're taking the guy and whatever he gots. Those are the orders."

Meridith pivots as the door crashes, she growls and the one who is not off balance she focuses on. A flick of her hand, sending a burst of telekinetic energy to throw him backwards.

The man in front is tossed back by an invisible force into the other man and both are thrown back into the hall. This seems to shock the investigator. "Holy shit." he says and then after a pause he says, "I need my camera."

Meridith says "Then GET IT! And follow me!"
Meridith exclaims as she leaps out after the men letting out a mighty shout!

A fist is sent for Meridith but she's quick and upon the men before they can really find their footing after that bout of Telekinsis. The investigator doesn't dress, he relies on a prayer and that towel to keep modest as he collects his laptop and phone from the desk. He makes an attempt to run into the hall as Meridith is occupied and if he gets the chance, he begins to bolt for the stairs

Meridith disentangles herself from the men, pulling away and chasing after the man. She at this time doesn't care if he is trying to get away from her or not. She's confident she's got him.

Meridith is faster than the man in just a towel, the pair who attacked at the hall are left behind and by the time Meridith and the investigator reach the bottom of the stairs she's able to grab or tackle him at her leisure.

Meridith simply lifts him into the air with a flick of her hand and drags to drag him to her bike. "This way, if you leave me they'll kill you. Like I said, I'm the nice option."

Meridith attempts to drag him*

There is protest, there is light struggling but the investigator doesn't really have a chance. As Meridith and the investigator are loaded on her bike, the pair of men are just stumbling down the stairs to catch up, but they are too late to stop Meridith from peeling out of there.

"What are you going to do to me?!" the investigator cries. Sounding terrified.

Meridith throws out the double deuce to the two man as she peels off. Making sure the mostly naked man holds on tight to her as she zips away. "Dunno yet. Two options. One, we ensure you're understanding enough to remain aware. Two, we wipe your brain and documents."

"Wipe my brain? My documents? No this is my big break?! There has to be another way." The man protest loudly and he rocks in his seat to throw some destabilization into the bike as it drives.

Meridith shakes her head. "Buddy, you really think you're lucky, smart, or clever enough to be the first?" she gazes back at him incredulous.

Meridith says "Most of the world 'knows'."
There is a lengthy bit of contemplation and the man stops rocking the bike. Eventually his senses come to him and he says, "Maybe your right..but do we really have to wipe my brain? Just take all the data I gathered. Don't mess with my brain."

Meridith says "It's possible. People wake up all the time, but once you're up...you're up, get it?"
Meridith says "People never broke in to your room to abduct you before, yeah?"
Meridith slows as they get to a safe distance, some road out of town where she can slip off the bike a bit, leaning on it, and look him in the eye.

"Of course not." The man says to that. Once they stop he gets off the bike, looking like a total idiot in just a towel. He looks at Meridith, unsure of himself then says, "If everyone 'knows' what hope do I have of breaking the story eh?"

Meridith leans back and laughs. "None. But it's annoying to cover it up, and they'll kill you for trying. Maybe that's the sign it's a bigger deal than they want you to know..?"

Meridith sticks her hands in her pockets and appraises him once more. "You could go back. Have a different life, a better one. This one is gonna be ugly, it almost always is."

Meridith says "What's more important? The truth or happiness?"
Waves to his things in the pack of Meridith's bike and he says, "Keep them. I'll just get out of town and wont say a word yeah? I don't want to die."

Meridith gazes at him and nods. She takes her phone out and makes the arrangements. Someone'll take care of his memory, that's not her usual biz. But he'll walk away unscathed otherwise, a new direction maybe, instead of the futile search for a dangerous truth with a price he doesn't want to pay.

A van comes to pick up the man and he goes along quietly with Meridith's assurances. The data is taken and destroyed and Meridith has completed the mission. Turns out the men that came to do the job were part of the Hand and would likely have done far worse than Meridith. She is now free to go.

Meridith doesn't feel great about it. But, she makes peace with her call. He would have kept digging, she knew, and being aware meant...people like the Hand would keep seeking him out. She tries not to dwell on it too much. A job well done. Sure. Whatever
