Ritsukas Odd Encounter Sr Illyana 241209
In a chilling encounter on Prospect Street, Ritsuka, a being with supernatural powers, found herself pursued by a group of highly skilled and determined hunters. As she navigated the tensions of the everyday reality interwoven with the nightmares that pursued her, Ritsuka's journey was marked by a constant battle for survival. Her path was fraught with darkness, both from the natural world and the supernatural realms she was entangled with. The hunters, armed with weapons designed to neutralize her abilities and make her vulnerable, presented a clear and present danger. Feeling the weakening effects of a neutralizer grenade, Ritsuka relied on her cunning and strategic mind to evade capture. Utilizing the crowded streets of Haven to her advantage, she sought refuge in the familiar environment of a pharmacy, a place she hoped to turn the tables on her pursuers.
As the confrontation reached its climax, Ritsuka regained her strength and faced the hunters with renewed vigor. Drawing upon her elemental powers, she unleashed a devastating counterattack. Her assailants, despite their preparedness and lethal intent, were no match for her unleashed potential. Ritsuka's ability to manipulate the very substance of her nightmare into a weapon turned the tide, leading to the swift defeat of the hunters who had sought to capture or kill her for sport. The intervention of the HSD and the swift action of Ritsuka's allies ensured the safety of the streets once more. In the aftermath, Ritsuka was left to reflect on the nature of her existence and the constant dangers that lurked in the shadows of Haven. Yet, she emerged victorious, a testament to her resilience and the indomitable spirit that defined her. Meanwhile, in a seemingly unrelated event, Eric witnesses a domestic dispute in a parking lot, capturing a glimpse of the day-to-day drama that unfolded amidst the backdrop of the supernatural occurrences that defined the town of Haven.

[Sun Dec 8 2024]
On Prospect Street
It is afternoon, about 34F(1C) degrees, and there are a few dark grey stormclouds in the sky.
(A group of supernatural hunters is out to get your target. Maybe for sport, maybe from ideology, in either case they need to survive for long enough that their allies can come and help them deal with the threat.
)
Ritsuka had just had one of those creepy dreams, and it was messy, and so... she is just making herself through the streets, out for a walk after that experience. A very... long one, admitted, as her thing way over at the pharmacy and she finds herself on prospect street, south of the bridge. She makes a light toned hum and just turned around to start to make herself onto her way baack to the pharmacy.
Dreams are curious things. They can be good or ill. They can bring pleasure or pain, but in all cases, they are, in some ways, much like the town of Haven. So as Ritsuka makes her way through the town and crosses through Prospect Street, she finds that not all is as it might appear. This though is reality, not a dream, and the monsters that linger in the shadows of Haven can endanger Ritsuka, if they want. They can come from the shadows- From the houses and from the quiet places where monsters have no right in being. The monsters could be of any kind; Werewolves, vampires, dream children, fae, angels and demons and more. The monsters could be your friend-- Your family-- Your neighbour or your worst enemy. Ritsuka knows this. Ritsuka is a monster herself: Sometimes... Just sometimes though, the monsters can be far far worse than that. They can be born of fear, or dreams themselves. They could be ephemeral nightmares-- Literal nightmares. They could be the monster under the bed, or the thing in your closet. Because yes, monsters can come from dreams or reality. They could be from one's imagination, but they can, just as easily, Be far far worse than that. Sometimes, the monsters can be people. Perfectly normal human beings. Which is likely far more terror inducing than it aught have any right being. Humanity though is a threat that is as equally legitimate as any monster; Oh they arn't as physically intimidating. They arn't as cunning, but at times, they can be far far more problematic than even the monsters. For humanity possesses something the monsters do not. They possess their own special brand of horror. Humanity possesses technology and bloody minded stubbornness, not least those within the Temple. And still. There are those outside of the factions-- Those independent beings who thrive independently on monster hunting for sport.. -- Oh, it's not common place. It's rare, but it most certainly happens. Which is likely cause that at first, Ritsuka didn't notice that she was being followed. -- It was innocent, at first. People step from alleyways all the time. They leave buildings and enter them; This is a town. It is active, but as Ritsuka takes a couple of turns, she becomes aware that not all is as it appears. Because there is someone... At least one person following Ritsuka, and they have been doing so for a number of blocks now. And that begs the question; What does she do?
Ritsuka is about to tread back onto the bridge, both that could be considered a trap or an easy way out to snoop anyone into her own people but they are busy and just had to handle a situation not long ago, they might need a moment. And so it is a very simple thing that she does do. She begins to step onto the bridge, and turns around and smiles at the figure that is following her with eyes knowing, with eyes that tell that she expected. It is a very public place, and the fear people hold near her have turned her immune to being pulled into the nightmare. An open confrontation in the middle of the street? Probably not a good idea. She keeps in the middle of the pathway for people that are walking, neither too close to the railing, nor too close to the street. Kidnappings were common, after all, and there is no dragging her. The flame of her heart flickers, though it is not drawn, it is there, ready. But for now, all she can actually do is to watch, see how the following figure responds to being observed, see if they will flee or linger.
Perhapse as expected, the figure makes no note of Ritsuka past a nod of acceptance that she's there. It's a dark-haired woman with grey eyes in perfectly casual day-wear, her hair styled into a practical bob cut. She's looking at her phone, and as she passes Ritsuka, she snaps a photo on her phone. A man, in equally non-descript garb seems to notice, turning the page of his Haven Currier news paper, the lenses of his sunglasses reflecting the scene- And another person behind Ritsuka. It's almost too late, but at the last moment, Ritsuka can catch the sight of a business suited gentleman stepping up behind Ritsuka. Thankfully, this lets Ritsuka avoid that person, though she misses the next- An innocent, thankfully. The person who accidentally bumps Ritsuka is a Havenite who Ritsuka has seen in passing working at the library. So Ritsuka continues walking, and that is when things start going wrong. There's a flash. There's a soft 'bamph' and Ritsuka feels weaker-- She's been neutralized. These things don't often last long though. It's a tool, not a collar. It's a miniature grenade, and as Ritsuka sees it, she notes that this human /toy/ resembles a small baseball. And so it's only then that the three hunters begin to close in on Ritsuka. And Ritsuka notices that each of them have weapons. Short blades, hand guns and syringes close to hand. What's worse is that there appears to be teams gathering at either end of the Franklin bridge. They almost seem perfectly normal citizens, but Ritsuka knows better, and Ritsuka can see that she is being corraled.
Of course it had to be one of those naturalizer, it does not last for long, and so, what has to happen is plain: Ritsuka needs to outlast them, in one way or another. After that, even if soldiers, they'll be the bigger one. And what does a woman in that kind, of course, do? Yeah, that is right, she presses the usual little button for emergencies. Ah maybe it is time she stops with that and actually assigns bodyguards properly to herself? But of course, she also plain escapes into the nightmare and begins to run - quickly as she can, towards the pharmacy. Nine vulpine tails twirl around her here, in the nightmare. Vulpine ears, a radiant aura that will make any attempt to hide quite cumbersome and difficult, and eyes of the sun. If only that she needs to last for long enough that the naturalizer looses its affect on her, and she can rely on the flame in her heart to combat back.
In total, Ritsuka sees eleven people. The phone holding, dark-haired woman, the business suited man, the news paper reading man in sunglasses, and four people at either end of the bridge. Neutralized, this could be a problem, though Ritsuka is resourceful. Even without powers, Ritsuka has her mind, and so, evasion is not such a daunting prospect as it might appear. Why they are hunting her is still in question, though the fear that people have for Ritsuka is perhapse the cause. If not, it's american racists, general un-affiliated supernatural hunters, or those who hate the fae for their own reasons. That's unimportant for now though. For now, Ritsuka needs to find an escape. Who they are can be identified later, and there are a number of options; The water and the possibly the crowd being the most obvious: After all, it is the middle of the day, on a sunday, and people are not at work. It's a well-populated area, and Ritsuka can use that to her advantage. Which of course she does. Escaping into the nightmare might be noticed if it were less busy. But it is busy. And the general havenites are used to strange and wonderful things. And so, as the man with the news paper reaches to a hidden holster- Assumedly to retrieve a weapon, the phone holding woman steps up- then past Ritsuka, and the suited gentleman removes the cap from the syringe, her nightmare manifestations have already taken form. Ritsuka is able to begin moving, and within the nightmare, walls are no issue for her. What is is the giant frog-like monster that bounds towards Ritsuka from the nightmare water, though it is still far off. Likewise the shades that wander the nightmare are around. Some are even near enough that if they were interested, they could approach, but thankfully for Ritsuka, they don't. So Ritsuka runs. And as she does so, she notices a group ahead of her- Ritsuka has to change course, dodge, weave, but eventually, Ritsuka manages to reach deadwood street. Something here is off too though, as Ritsuka notes a group of four men standing outside the pharmacy, two within, and two outside of the nightmare. The two within the nightmare spot Ritsuka and begin running for her, though they are far enough that Ritsuka could still run. She is still neutralized, at least for now, and when one of them fires a rifle at Ritsuka, pumping and then chambering another shot, the bullet that passes by, close enough to be felt, but not close enough to hit, Ritsuka notices that the bullets were prepared specially for her. They burn with both fae bane iron and radioactive residue-- They are fae and god killers. These people know what they're doing.
Ritsuka sways away from the bullet, and she does let out a groan - but they are running at her, and so she runs back, bashes into the other building and tries to swirl them around, not to loose them, but to pull them away from the pharmacy itself, so she can get into the bathroom there from the other side. It didn't matter so much if they tried attacking her inside it, not at all. Even as she was now, the front area was dedicated and would offer her an advantage in any combat that these people are clearly drawing into. There, they can be food for her. There -is- a moment of Irony in the tried chase that has her try to pull the two humans away from the pharmacy so she can circle around to make manifest in the bathroom and hiding was definitely not an option with that aura that holds her. The iron itself? Just recently she had complained about only ever having gotten one death prophecy... about how she had mentioned that someday, Justice would come for her, too. And rather than fight it, she seeks to escape. Of course, both of the prophecies were different. About how she shall die for the Iron Camella, and seeing how it all ties together, this chase, the hunt, with how many fear her for what they had done... There is no surprise, but no will to simply admit defeat and die.
The two within the nightmare keep up their chace with Ritsuka for a time. It becomes close- Shots fired, Ritsuka ducking and running through buildings, but eventually, she gets them away from the pharmacy. They reach the nightmare on Paine Avenue before anything happens-- But this is when things shift. Ritsuka feels her power growing again, and as she dodges one more rifle shot, Ritsuka can actually fight back. -- With how things ended up, there is an enemy to either side, the two of them harrying Ritsuka, though they're within seventy feet of her on either side now; Bow range-- Or foxfire range, and in spite of them having armor and tools, they are still humans. One of them calls out, apparently having not noticed the return of Ritsuka's power, his voice modulated with avoice changer in his mask. "You might as well give up, Girly. There's no escape." He chambers a round, levels his shot-- And that's when Ritsuka hears over coms that a number of people have been detained by the HSD for criminal activity on Franklin bridge. Shortly after, Ritsuka's com beeps, and one of her teams announces that two arcanists loitering around the pharmacy have been captured and are being /removed/. Pieces are coming together, and Ritsuka can finish this quickly.
Ritsuka draws up the fire - and it doesn't help it that here, here, some of her attacks can be disastrous to some. They had been prepared, no doubt about that. She probably wouldn't die here, but sometimes, the best that can be done is to... Okay, it is actually not that dramatic, because it is that feeling of it all coming together again, it's... a thrill that courses through her, like being reunited with the very air that cherishes and holds her dear, a fey, in some stories, returning home into the warm embrace of the feywild when they meet the ground upon death. This is not so different, because what she chirps out is, of course in Japanese "I do not speak that language here! You should just go and die!" She says, along with drawing up a golden flame, her own foxfire and throws it at one of them. The later part of her words were said as if the reason was obvious, in the indirect telling that Japanese have: You know you are a waste and everyone would be happier if you were dead. She still scoots forward, her own defenses weakened from the chase, recovered whenever entering a wall and staying out of sightt for long enough, but now - she can manage. "Maybe I will cook dinner out of your fear!"
The golden fox fire floats through the air. It splatters over the first gunman, and the second takes a shot. As he does though, Ritsuka moves, and her fire-- Her monstrosity is active. The first man burns and turns to ash; Humans, how could they stand upto this. Ritsuka gets the other too-- It's quick. It's not clean; It's messy, but once it's done, Ritsuka finds herself alone. As she goes through what remains, there is nothing. These men were professionals, but when she returns to the pharmacy soon after, Ritsuka learns from her people that these men were sent to hunt her because she was such a danger. Not for any other reason than the sport of it. Ritsuka learns that the eleven on the bridge and the four at the pharmacy were all that came to Haven, and the HSD arrested them for non-legal assaults on the citizens; Someone called the sherifs and they acted quickly. And so, Ritsuka returns to her normal life. And this time, hopefully she'll have the rest of her day free and unbothered by strange things.

Eric is up to nothing of great import. He's left the apartment block, he's browsing MyHaven on his phone, he's texting people - his girlfriend, some friends, the peanut gallery from the chat proper. He doesn't appear all that big in a rush to head anywhere, and mostly keeps to himself on that crossing while figuring out what he may want to try and do
The sun is already starting to get lower in the sky as Eric debates his evening. There's a roar of a sports car engine as it whips in to the Elm Street Apartments lot, sleek and shiny, black with all the customs. Someone spent way too much money on it. It draws into a parking spot not too far off. Still in line of sight from where Eric stands.
About the same time, a young woman in her early twenties comes stomping up in a huff, looking a mix of upset and angry. She's dressed up nicely, like maybe she'd been planning on having a night out but in those high heels walking seems like it was a strange choice. "You're a fucking asshole!" She shouts in the direction of the parking lot
Eric raises his head to look away from his phone, gaze directed to whatever goes on to cause such a commotion. A flashy car, some woman screeching at it; what gives? It's more interesting than his evening so far had been, really, He lowers his phone, and pockets the hand he'd been typing away with a moment after, observing what goes on with a turn of the head and a gaze trailing the loud woman in his curiosity
The sports engine turns off and a man gets out of the car, dressed nicely just like the woman is and maybe going through some annoyances of his own by the way the car door is slammed. "I'm not doing this shit with you again, Darla!" The man shouts back, starting to stalk across the parking lot, toward the entrance to the apartments.
The woman, presumably Darla, makes a frustrated sound, whipping her attention toward Eric, her angry blue eyes catching his own. "He's such a jerk! We got into an arguement and kicked me out of the car! He needs his ass kicked for this, right?!" Feeling the paramount of insulted as she jabs her finger toward the annoyed man.
